One gun + two turkeys + three Morgan sisters = One helluva Jeep ride! It's Thanksgiving Day in Jackrabbit Junction and the feathers are flying before the food even hits the table. What starts out as a quick trip to pick up a turkey turns into another messy Morgan sisters' mystery filled with hijinks and adventure. Never has Thanksgiving been so wild! Oh this is a great, quick read of the Morgan sisters to help you wait for the next book. Now after reading it I want more. ok so now to sit back and wait and just listen to them this time.
Talk about laugh! This one is funny - I was laughing so hard at one point I had to stop reading to calm down. I'm not going to go into the story itself. Instead I'm just going to say that if you've read any of the Jackrabbit Junction novels, you'll enjoy this one. It features all three sisters, their mom and grandfather - plus various step-parents - and romantic interests. Highly entertaining and full of mischief.
In this short novella, Ann Charles takes a more humorous view of the Morgan sisters. Katie is determined to rescue that wild turkey from being the main course at someone's Thanksgiving dinner. Even if the bird doesn't need rescuing. One thing leads to another, ending with Thanksgiving becoming a complete disaster. But it takes more than a wild bird and a crazy sister to keep the Morgans down, The ladies are nothing if not resilient. A laugh out loud treat.
It was hilarious! I was so excited to finally get to read about their Thanksgiving after reading the last Jackrabbit Junction book and having the build-up for it. It was so funny my son kept asking me why I was laughing. Evidently random burst of laughter while you are sitting on the couch is a weird thing. I definitely recommend this book.
What could go.wrong, quite a lot, starting with gramps dog stealing the turkey to Katie finding a wild turkey running free on the streets of Jackrabbit Junction. But all is worked.out in the end, nobody ends up in jail everybody gets to enjoy a novel thanksgiving dinner and there even a mystery from Joe's past to solve. Great read.
A truly impressive example of how a dysfunctional functioning family can manage Thanksgiving dinner while juggling mysteries from a past that just won't give them a moment's peace. Be ready to laugh as you ride along side the Morgan sister as they find themselves neck deep in trouble once again....
I have never had a book make me laugh so hard. I’m being truly honest when I laughed 🤭 so hard I tinkled a little and coughed and laughed some more!!!!! This whole series has truly been laugh 😂 out loud funny! I had to actually walk away for a min to catch my breath or I’d of had to use my inhaler!
Short but good story. Wish it could have been longer as there were lots of hilarious moments. The turkey incident in the Jeep was priceless as was Thanksgiving dinner with the family. It sounded vaguely familiar! I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series which is way overdo.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
This is a hilarious jumble of turkey craziness as we meet up with the Morgan sisters for a Thanksgiving dinner in Jackrabbit Junction! Put the three Morgan sisters on a mission to get a turkey for the thanksgiving feast and you know it is going to end in a wild flight of laughter! Ms. Charles's humor is totally on spot in this book and it is such a fun read! Get ready to laugh until your sides ache!
I am a diehard fan of the Jackrabbit Junction series. Although this is a novella, it still manages to pack plenty of the zany and hilarious adventures of the Morgan sisters and their equally kooky family and friends into a fun story with a side of mystery and a treasure hunt thrown in. When Claire and her sisters start out in Claire's brand-new jeep on what appears to be a simple series of errands - picking up supplies for Thanksgiving dinner, none of them foresee the complications thrown in by a live turkey, a loaded gun, and bullets containing secret messages. I was laughing out loud for almost all of the story. In spite of assorted food disasters, Thanksgiving dinner finally manages to take place, with a rather unorthodox menu. This is a story I will enjoy reading again. Readers who are not familiar with Jackrabbit Junction will still love the story and want to go back and read the rest of the series.
This story is hilarious! For a novella, Ann Charles wrote an hilarious story with mystery and romance. The whole turkey rescue in the jeep and the derringer gun, and the characters involved capture my interest. I have read all The Deadwood books and will now start on the Jackrabbit series. The turkey waking up in the jeep followed by pie throwing and butt showing was hysterical. Who shows up but Ronnie's boyfriend ,she is the one with the butt in the air, lol! Needless to say when you date the sheriff it has it perks and laughter is the best medicine. For a Thanksgiving dinner with problems it was interesting and funny! I am left with with what happens to the silver? Read this funny story and laugh away!
It was fun being back with Clare and her sisters but there was just too much snarky business and why the turkey everywhere. It wasn't one of my favorite books by this wonderful author so I'm hoping for a full size novel soon. Chester was his usual funny self but the other characters seemed to be more out of sorts than usual. They spent the whole story in a jeep with a wild turkey??? Grady the sheriff was huffy and overly macho. It just wasn't my favorite. I'll be back for the next novel. I like Ann Charles. I listened on audible so that made it better than it would have been in text I think.
Nothing is more fun than spending Thanksgiving with the Morgan sisters! This is a laugh out loud…hold your stomach…definitely crazy story of Thanksgiving with the gang in Jackrabbit Junction! You never know what to expect in a story from Ann Charles and she out did herself with all the crazy fun and shenanigans that only Claire and her sisters could get into! I absolutely love the Jackrabbit Junction series and this novella is a perfect addition to it. This is a series that you should definitely add to your reading list if you are looking for a fun and entertaining story to read.
As an avid Ann Charles reader I wait impatiently for the next installment and when these short stories come up I love them just as much as a regular book. This story as usual doesn't miss and had me sucked in right away. The Morgan sisters are at it again with the antics that unfold as they make an "attempt" to have a traditional Thanksgiving. Not possible with this family! Throw in various twists and turns from something discovered from Joe and you have a book you can't put down. Great mix of humor( as Ann always does) along with some kooky twists and turns. Definitely a must read!!!
This is a novella in the Ann Charles series about the Morgan sisters, and centers on the family Thanksgiving holiday. If you secretly dread these gatherings or just need some hilarious escape reading to prepare, this is the one for you. It's great to already know the characters, but not necessary, as you'll find everyone in your family represented, from the drama queen to the drunk uncle. The visuals you'll get while reading will be seared into your memory for some time, as Ann's writing always does. Looking for humor, sarcasm, escape? Here's your ticket.
I love Ann Charles. Her books make me laugh out loud. The Wild Turkey Tango is her newest novella to keep us all satisfied until her next installment of one of her series comes out. This novella was a lot of fun. It had the Morgan sisters and their various beaus, a wild turkey, pie, an antique gun and a mystery, add in Pancho Villa and you have a zany adventure. It satisfied my appetite for her books for about 5 minutes, but it makes the wait a little less painful. This is a quick read and can easily be devoured while waiting at the doctor’s office.
I love the Morgan sisters. I can't get enough of this series and this novella is no exception. I just laughed the whole way through the book. The writing is, as always, excellent. The story is fantastic. I'm just wondering if everyone is going to survive Kate's pregnancy unscathed. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book and this series to everyone.
This story is a wonderful example of how to do/not do Thanksgiving. Do not wait until the last minute to buy a turkey. Do not pick up a wild roving turkey with the idea you are doing it a big favor. Do not transport said reluctant turkey with pies. Do invite beloved friends and family. Do screen what they are bringing to eat. Carefully. Enough said. Enjoy a turkey day adventure with the Morgan sisters and crew.
