Sam Duffy didn’t know what to do now that he was the toughest, meanest, and of course, best detective in all of Los Angeles. How in the heck did he get across town without any memory? I was knocked out … I must be dreaming, Sam thought. Or…nightmare-ing? That’s it! I’ll wake myself up, Sam thought.He sat up off the ground and started slapping his face. The pain was real; he could vividly feel the sting of the slap. “Not dreaming?” Sam whispered.Sam stood up. He did some stretches to get used to his new body. He clenched his fingers and made a fist. Wow, what a fist! It felt like he could crush an unopened beer can. He threw a punch to nowhere in particular. His fist made contact with the wall directly in front of him. Immediately he was in pain. Luckily Sam’s punch was poorly executed or he would have caused himself even more pain. It was clear to Sam that while he looked like Detective Samuel Barnes he was still Sam Duffy, punches and kicks included.
