Camping in High Heels

Kate Palmer loves her job. Why wouldn’t she? As a travel blogger, she gets paid to take five-star vacations. Then one of her loyal readers asks her to travel “like the rest of us.”

After dining, relaxing, and enjoying only the best of every city in the most luxurious fashion, Kate isn’t sure that she or her high heels can manage the camping life. Learning to drive and to set up a motor home was only the beginning. As she travels to New Orleans to Texas to New Mexico, Kate experiences a brand-new kind of adventure. Who knew that she’d ever tackle the campground bathhouse (bring Raid with you), tarantulas (unwelcome dinner guests), and bats (best observed while holding an umbrella)?

But things become brighter when she bumps into fellow camper, Brandon. Seeming to run into one another at each campground, it gets harder for Kate to ignore the sparks between them.

As Kate’s journey teaches her to appreciate the great outdoors, she also makes friendships along the way. And she just might have found love, too.

This one is about Kate, a travel agent and blogger that spends her time going to fancy hotels and fancier restaurants. One of her bloggers challenges her to a simple camping vacation. An RV dealership lends her a camper for 6 months and off she goes, with no idea how to drive it or live at campgrounds. It was a funny, cute romance.

Considering this isn't my typical read, I really enjoyed it, so much so that I think I might have to find myself the rest of the series!

If you are looking for a fun read, try Camping in High Heels, by Miki Bennett. It is a clean read: no violence, crude language, or lengthy love scenes. Thirty year old Kate Palmer is a travel agent who writes a blog called, Watch Kate Travel. One day she gets a challenging comment from a loyal reader named Bubba (Why don't you try camping? Bet you can't do it.) So Kate leaves South Carolina in a borrowed motor home to begin a trip around the United States by herself. Her story is an entertaining look at the challenges of camping and the interesting people you might meet along the way. (One of the nice surprises is meeting likable Brandon Anderson). A couple of people even recognize her from her blog. When she gets close to Las Vegas, she is ready for some hotel pampering and a visit with her father and his girlfriend. I enjoyed reading this book and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Camping in High Heels: Viva Las Vegas. It picks up where this story left off.
