The Ancients lived by a feminine cosmology of creation, where everything was birthed and dissolved through a sacred universal Womb. Within each of us, whether female or male, lies a holographic blueprint of this Womb of Creation, connecting us to the Web of Life. By awakening your spiritual Womb, the holy of holies within the temple of your body, you can reconnect to the transformative energy of Womb Consciousness and reclaim your sacred powers of creation and love.

Drawing on mythical and spiritual traditions from almost every culture, Dr. Azra and Seren Bertrand reconstruct the moon-based feminine mystery teachings of a lost global Womb religion, tracing the tradition all the way back to the Neanderthals and beyond. They explore how these teachings were encoded in the symbolism of folk and fairy tales; the legends of the Holy Grail; the traditions of Mary Magdalene and Sophia; the maiden, queen, and crone archetypes; and the teachings of alchemy and the chakras. They show how sages and shamans across the globe all secretly spoke of the Cosmic Womb and the sacred creative powers of Moon Blood. The authors look at the power of the Moon and its connection to sacred Womb Consciousness, offering meditations and practices to help awaken your spiritual Womb and activate its sacred magic of creation and manifestation. They explain how to activate the energetic gateways of the Womb and merge the heart and Womb to make sexual union the highest sacrament of love. Access is also provided to 3 audio journeys.

Revealing how we must reconnect with the Divine Feminine to rebirth the Divine Masculine and restore balance to our world, they show how, as we reawaken the powerful ancient path of the Womb Mysteries, we help return our world to harmony with the wild, untamed creative flows and cyclical rhythms of the cosmos.

Anyone wanting to read this book should first read the following articles, and decide if they are comfortable getting spiritual teachings from a lineage which is rife with sexual, emotional and spiritual abuse.

I have hoped to find the authors denouncing the actions of their teacher, but they have been silent, furthering the conspiracy of silence that so often allows sexual abuse to continue.

This one is about the teacher the authors spent years studying from, and from where much of this book originates:

Womb Awakening is a heavy tome about feminine cosmology of creation. This book is daunting from the esoteric advanced language used to the vague yet convoluted sentences. The back of the book talks about awakening your spiritual womb and that the authors “reconstruct the moon-based feminine mystery teaching…” They talk about awakening the “Divine Feminine to rebirth the Divine Masculine” in order to rebalance the world. It seems the Bertrands are trying to reawaken ancient power in order to return harmony to the world. Fundamentally, however, the concepts described are lost in the way the message is presented.

The Bertrands write the spirals (chapters) in short essays which makes getting through one concept easier. However, the sentences, words within the sentences, and the structure makes the reading and comprehension of the concepts. They use a lot of big words to say a lot of nothing. The writing is lyrical but it seems more concerned with how it sounds than actually saying anything logical. They attempt to link science with esoteric beliefs and concepts. This can be done but the authors make sweeping statements like “Inside the black hole the laws of physics as we know them no longer apply…” This is a broad statement which cannot be proven. This attempt to mix science and new age concepts falls short. Additionally, the talk about DNA as though we can change it with our thoughts and emotions. While environment can play a part in genetics, thoughts and emotions have not been proven to. They try to use science to justify beliefs but their science is shaky which then makes their beliefs shaky by association. When scientific claims are made, they need to back up the claims. The Bertrands did not do this which, in my opinion, invalidates the concepts. They did this enough times, their message begins to be nullified.

The Bertrands mix Christian mysticism with new age concepts. Christianity is very much a patriarchal belief system and is difficult to relate to feminine ways and beliefs. They do discuss goddesses from a variety of pantheons but it feels like they are scattered across beliefs not settling into a core belief system.

Using phrases like “my beloved” comes across as pretentious and affected. Additionally, they switch from an academic style to a first person account which breaks the rhythm of the book. The exaggerated way they write swallows up the message they are trying to get across. From one essay to the next, it is unclear what they want the reader to take away from the book. They sound pompous and self-aggrandizing. In all of the conceit and double talk, the message of this book gets lost. The lessons the Bertrands try to get across is not communicated in a clear and concise manner. They speak tapping into the creative forces and cyclical rhythms. However, the message is lost in the showy language and lengthy descriptions which lose the reader after two lines of a three or four line sentence.

The Bertrands may be true believers of their path but haven't done a very good job of enticing the reader. Their message is lost.

I made it about 2/3 through. There is some very wonderful, initiative information in this book; however, it's a slog. The presentation is wordy, drawn out, and repetitive. If this had been edited heavily, it could have been a very important work. I did not find it very accessible.

What an incredible gift Azra and Seren Bertrand have birthed in creating this book!
These pages are encoded with such deep wisdom and will take you on an initiatory journey into the sacred feminine mysteries. Be prepared to be awakened, to connect with your Womb portal and be transformed through this body of wisdom that is contained within this book. There is really no book out there like this. It is a magical portal, a feminine mystery school, a pilgrimage of remembrance that connects you deeper and deeper into the magic that has been lost throughout time. This book weaves the fragments of the lost feminine back together, reuniting them back into a sacred marriage and union with the masculine and reclaims whats been lost and distorted - an inspiration to awaken the feminine heartbeat of the world again and awaken our Shakti and soul essence.

The information shared in this book feels like it awakens an ancient seed of remembrance that was planted eons ago in the Wombs, Haras and hearts of humans that is now ready to awaken in a deeply embodied way. Sometimes I read just a few inspiring lines and sit back and sense how the words move and feel in my body and awareness. I am so grateful to Seren and Azra Bertrand for offering this work.

Super hard to read cover to cover. I’d say the way to get the best out of this book is by flipping to random sections and choosing what to read from there. Super mind opening and really makes you think but, I think it’s important to take some of it with a pinch of salt. It talks a lot about their own experiences which, I am interested to some extent but personally there was a bit too much of that for me. Some of it was quite waffley too and it could have definitely been condensed

Wow

I thought while reading the intro of this book that it was going to be just woowoo bs. But to be honest, after reading it I am quite speechless.
It is well written and packed with insights. I loved how it covers the biological, psychological, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the feminine (mainly, but also the masculine).
Would definitely read it again

One of the best books I have ever read as a woman. This took me on a shamanic journey to connect back with the netherworld, my body, the goddesses and my dreams.

The content in the book is important, and it’s so wonderful to see so much wisdom captured in one tome - I’ve had to study many varied paths to access much of what is shared here. Full marks for content, they know their stuff and embody their teachings.

I deducted a star for the editing and structural choices. I didn’t find the book particularly enjoyable to read from cover to cover. I wasn’t a fan of the essay-style structure - I felt like it jumped around a bit and I had questions about topics previously discussed then abandoned. I agree with other reviewers that it’s more useful as a text to dip into for inspiration or to study a particular topic or theme. I do like the style of the writing - quite poetic and some beautiful language - so no issues there.

The practices and practical advice in the book are excellent.

Highly recommend this one if you’re interested in the feminine arts, feminine initiation practices, sacred sexuality, alternative narratives on historical/cultural practices etc. Some fairly hard-to-come-by knowledge is captured in this book.

Overall I value this book and the consciousness that it transmits, but I also have some points of criticism.

It is a very extensive book on the subject of the womb as seen from a spiritual perspective. Some parts of it felt like a transmission, connecting to a very pure and blissful field of awareness. This book introduced me to various concepts that I had no knowledge of before and opened up new awareness. I definitely learned a lot throughout this book.

My first point of criticism is that sometimes it is not very clear how factual the information that is shared actually is and it makes the impression that, because the authors are researching this topic, they tend to see wombs everywhere, including in ancient art that I would argue can be interpreted in a great number of ways.
My second point of criticism is that at times the writing feels pretty vague. Lots of beautiful words - and they do have a very elegant style of writing - used to describe something that remains... just vague.

Nonetheless would recommend this for anybody who is interested in this subject.

I wanted to like it, but I am apparently too old. By the end of the book, my eyes were stuck in my head from all the eye rolling at the phrase "delicious dark velvet..." I finished the book although it really made me very sad, hoping to find something, anything, but it doesn't seem to have much to offer the post-menopausal woman -- it seems all about younger women and want-to-be mothers. I'm not sure what I hoped to awaken! I did enjoy some healing meditations, and I'm on board spiritually, I guess, just hoping the next book will have something to offer me as an older woman. Also, like the Magdalene book I read prior to this one -- I never got the PDF supplement. Possibly because I listened on my phone...

I love this book. It was an experience for me that changed my life. I read books about the hara and tan chin over 10 years ago, and I couldn't fully grasp it since I was upset it spoke point of center for man. It was all about the man and it made me mad. I wished for a book about the center of our divine for men and women and this is it. My first experience was extraordinary now it's to embrace the shift. I recommend it to anybody ready for it.

I read this book for a book club and I struggled with it. There were a few excerpts and concepts that deeply resonated, but a lot of it is unsubstantiated (the authors discuss science and history while rarely citing their sources), heteronormative, and preachy. The book is nearly 500 pages. If it were edited down to 250, it'd be much stronger.

This book is quite practical. It not only give guide on how to heal your womb, but also gives you guides on the meditation to heal each womb gate. For an aphantesia like me, Following through with meditation is almost useless since I'm simply unable to imagine. Overall. Its helpful.

A magical journey into the womb and the metaphysical. This was a tome. Such a long audiobook hence why it took so long. Whilst song parts seem repetitive in concepts, i enjoyed it and the meditations are so incredible. Awaken your womb!
