Emma Jacks and her school friends loved animals. When they discovered the local Wildlife Centre kitchen had a fire. They decided to help raise funds to save the centre with a chocolate lovers day. Emma went to Isi's house to practice making cup cakes. They managed to make a mess and lumpy cup cake mix. Emma's phone rang and she was called by SHINE to go to HQ and start a new mission as EJ12 Secret Code cracker. She'd always started her previous missions in the school toilet, yes the entry to HQ was in the girls toilet. How was she going to get there? Her mum picked her up, and drove her to a light shop. Her mum had been a secret agent for SHINE when she was young.
This mission took her to a television presenter's cake shop as an entrant in Junor Choc Chef's competition. Madame Ombre met the entrants and took them on a tour. How was EJ12 going to discover if Madame Ombre was a SHADOW agent and how she was helping them.
EJ12 saved the day with the help of an undercover SHINE agent CC12. They nearly got caught but managed to discover what the SHADOW plan was and why Madame Ombre was doing it. They even discovered the rabbits being used to model for Chocolate Easter bunnies were going to be thrown out with the rubbish. They couldn't let that happen.
I've bought this box set for my younger granddaughter for Christmas. I'm sure she'll love Emma Jacks and her friends and her secret agent work as EJ12.

Just remembered these series. Used to be one of my favs, especially in the series. Trying to get my younger sister to read this too lol 💕 ✨Those old days when life was all fun and rainbows and sunshine✨
My sister owns four of these books, and even though these books are way too easy for me now, I have still liked reading them. I especially liked them in intermediate, but I think these books are really for primary school aged kids. I just never knew about them in primary!
"Choc Shock" was a yummy read starring Emma Jacks; a girl spy for SHINE agency. This is a really fun read, full of the exciting things that little girls dream of doing themselves. "Choc Shock" is simply written, but full of intriguing codes to crack, surprises and mysteries for young minds to ponder over. Emma, or EJ12 is a relatable character to any girl reader, with worries, feelings, likes and dislikes just like the reader. Girls reading will come to care for EJ12 and attach themselves to the story with all the fun and exhilaration of being a girl spy. I think the EJ12 books are the perfect series for girls in primary, and because the books are so fun, they will encourage them to read much more.
SHADOW is cooking up a new invention that could put SHINE in a real jam. It's a recipe for disaster! Special Agent EJ12 needs to be patient and keep her eyes peeled. She must get inside the chocolate cake factory, find out what is going on and stop SHADOW's plan. That's the easy part. As EJ12, Emma Jacks can do anything. So why is the school fundraiser such a problem? Perhaps it isn't after all.
