Sleeping Dragon

Rate this book
Sleeping Beauty never looked this hot!

It’s finally Lisa’s turn to wake her very own dragon prince with a kiss (and more). She’s been waiting for her chance to sleep with one of the hot shifters since she first saw them. What she didn’t need was the added pressure of a battle raging outside at the time.

Prince Verrian wakes to the shocking news that he’s been asleep for three hundred years. In that time everything he’s ever known has changed. Some of the changes, like the gorgeous human woman who woke him, are good. Others, not so much.

When they step outside his chamber, they find that friend and enemy alike have disappeared, leaving them alone in the middle of the Australian outback, with no vehicle and no phone reception.

And no idea who won the battle.

Sleeping Dragon is part 1 in the six part, Dragon Echoes serial. It follows on from the Dragon Ruins serial.

Rinelle Grey is no stranger to alternate lifestyles. She grew up in a variety of different homes, including a riverside shack with no electricity or running water, and even a tent. She and her sister spent their childhood chasing goats, climbing trees, eating peas and corn out of their mother’s vegetable garden, and occasionally rushing to get their correspondence school work in on time. Despite the difficulties of this lifestyle, she wouldn’t swap it for all the luxuries in the world (though she is rather fond of her running hot water and indoor plumbing now!)

She met her husband in ‘Family Therapy’, an elective they were both taking as part of their psychology degrees. It took several years for them to get together, in fact, their roleplaying characters got together before they did!

They married on the beach at sunrise in 2002, two months after Rinelle popped the question.

Although she had always loved to write, it wasn’t until her daughter was about eighteen months old that Rinelle started writing seriously. Probably not the best stage in terms of having spare time! And time only became scarcer when her daughter gave up her day sleep six months later. But by then, Rinelle had well and truly caught the writing bug, finding time somehow to continue with her passion. Her fast typing speed learnt from spending way too much time chatting on IRC, and the investment in an iPad when they came out, helped immensely.

Rinelle now lives on acreage with her husband and homeschooled daughter. In her spare time, she sells stock photography through an online site to support her family, and is hoping that writing will be able to add to that.

She loves to receive e-mails at rinelle@rinellegrey.com, or follow her on facebook or twitter.

When Chase took Lisa to the entrance of the Mesmer chamber in the Australian outback, she was both nervous and excited. Lisa had been chosen to wake Prince Verrian, Taurian’s brother. In the meantime Taurian and Karla, along with Chase had to fight off Ultrima while Lisa was inside the chamber…

Lisa’s words to Prince Verrian that he’d been asleep for three hundred years came as an intense shock – but the changes he was introduced to astounded him. The worst though was the fact that everyone – dragon and human – had disappeared by the time they ventured outside. Both Lisa and Verrian had no idea where everyone was or how they could find them – or even what to do next.

Sleeping Dragon is the first in the Dragon Echoes series which begins Lisa and Verrian’s story and is the continuing tale of dragons and humans mixing in the vast Australian desert. The Dragon Ruins series was Taurian and Karla’s story. Light and entertaining fantasy, this is a very quick read. Recommended.

With thanks to the author for this copy to read in exchange for my honest review.

DNF-Plain awful! Worst paranormal or dragon shifter story I’ve read all year. Boring and repetitive with super boring one dimensional characters as well as no chemistry. Lacks suspense or anything resembling excitement.

I made it to chapter twenty but could not finish. This is a first for me—I always finish but no way would I give this uneventful vomitus of words of forty-six more chapters my time I’d never get back. Put them all back to sleep and move on.

Do not recommend. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 0.5 stars.

Lame from the very start

Omigod. It's bad enough this story started off so poorly, but poor word choices slammed the hammer down within some three pages.

Lisa knew what she had to do to wake the sleeping Verrian so he would be ready to fight, so when it ended she shouldn't find that she had the feelings she does. When they flee the chamber to find themselves alone Lisa needs to introduce Verrian to the modern world avoid detection, and get back to his brother. If only Lisa didn't have a reporter determined to get the story on the dragon she saw.

I admit I didn't like Lisa right off the bat but maybe that's because she was so willing to sleep with the dragon shifters and I wasn't sure why other than they are attractive. I admit as the book progressed she grew on me as neither one could deny the attraction.

I couldn't sleep last night and while browsing my kindle happened across Sleeping dragon, and since it was the first in the series I figure it was worth checking out. I didn't know going into Sleeping Dragon that it was actually a story that came after another series so it all felt a little cheesy at first because it didn't make sense. Now that I know it's kind of part of a series or a spin-off it all makes sense which is why I found the book redeeming. I haven't read this author before but I enjoyed her story-telling I was captivated enough to stay up to finish it last night. It's a fast-paced story with just enough steamy moments to balance out the action. I'm curious to see how the series played out but I think I need to read the other one first.

This is a companion series to the Dragon ruins series. The original characters of Karla and Taurian. In this book , human Lisa has been chosen to waken Taurian's older brother Verrian in the Mesmar chamber, which means sexual release to heal him. the fight with the rival dragon clan, that hundreds of years later, still hold a grudge over their sister refusing to mate with Ultrima's clan. Verrian, like his brother, has never mated with a human before and is very confused of his feelings. Lisa is also confused, and have to go into hiding at her parents house because of a damn reporter and Ultrima, both of which could destroy them.

DNF the book.....

I love dragon books and read any that I can get my hands on...... but this one was not for me....through th r entire part that I did read it felt stale and not exciting..... Dragon readers in my opinion like to have more info on everything .... this was such a short story and gave very little info that I couldn't picture the characters..... I felt like I walked in on book 3 after all the information was given...

Please be more descriptive and give is a story behind everything...... it felt pieced together and boring...

Cliffhanger, the story continues with Cunning Dragon (Dragon Echoes #2). I don't mind a two-book story (with a warning) but it appears this story continues beyond two books. Reading book two and if enjoy it maybe book three. Must state though, it is unlikely I will continue with this author's writings unless the next read is a wow.

Cheers

Update from the original review. No wow. Read book two 30% and decided no more of this boring book or continuing this non-standalone series.

Cheers (again)

Lisa and Verrain

Lisa, a human, was chosen to wake Verrain, a prince of the dragon clan Rain. However, there is a war going on outside the cave and mesmer chamber between two different dragon clans. And there is a reporter chasing after them trying to find out if the dragon rumour is true. And the reporter Rita screws everything up for everyone. I loved this book and it's connection to the Fated and Forbidden Series. Too cool...

Short and sweet but also leads to the next addition to this series by RINELLE GREY

Great start to the series but also you're going to have to continue with the next addition to see what happens next with the characters and their struggles. SOOOO CHECK OUT FOR YOURSELF AND ENJOY IT TOO. I'd prefer no cliffhangers and that's my only complaint.🍷📖

Um, short, short, incomplete

Like the writing, the plot, and even the characters.....I think. You barely get started then in the middle of the battle it's over. No time to get to know or even pick sides. Its enough, that I don't want to get the next one.

I received a free copy of Sleeping Dragon Book 1 in Dragon Echoes by Rinelle Grey in exchange for an honest review.
Note: this review contains spoilers.
In the Dragon Ruins series, we learned about Dragon prince Taurian. This new series is about his brother Prince Verrian and Lisa the lady who wakes him. As in the previous series, this one is made up of short stories that are released on a regular basis. We don't have any dragon fights yet, but there is one very persistent reporter. That and the threat of a very angry lightening dragon keep Lisa and Verrian in hiding. Now if they can only survive Lisa's family! Now to wait for book 2!

Too Short

A new twist on Dragon lore, in Australia no less. When a centuries old feud is brought to the attention of a woman who accidentally comes upon a sleeping Dragon, she helps the one she awakens.
Next is the elder brother who finds himself in a new century trapped in a human's home until he can get back home. Unfortunately a reporter saw him flying and caught a picture. Luckily it wasn't clear but she's hot on his trail.

Lisa is charged with waking Taurians brother Verrian from his messer sleep, little did she know what she was getting herself into once he was awakened. Now there is trouble brewing and they have no where to go....looking forward to the next installment, as this one ended oh so fast I want more more more.

I really like the book and the series. I just wish she wrote it as one book instead of getting the first six chapters in one book and then the next six chapters in another book. Its a little annoying but if can get pass getting only a part of the book at a time, its a cool read

I like this series

I really like this series. I like the characters and the summer setting in Australia. It makes you wonder what really happened with Ultrima and the Rian clan. Maybe a big misunderstanding?

A quick read about dragons

Much too quick, but fun reading this story. I would have liked to see more dragon action and character development.
