Lindsey Winsemius learned from a young age that books hold the key to new worlds. As a young adult, she was often caught with forbidden romance novels under her mattress.
Lindsey only reads books with happy endings (with a few rare exceptions), and has been known to flip to the last page to ensure just that. She is fortunate enough to be living her own happily ever after in Grand Haven Michigan with the love of her life and two beautiful children.
She writes Contemporary Romance / Romantic Suspense under the pen name Lindsey Joy Lanser.
Another exceptional book in this series. I like the way the characters from previous books still appear, and are consistent while you see the relationship develop between the central couple. Helen and Vick have distinct voices from all the other characters and although romance boils beneath the surface of biological attack and political turmoil, it doesn't take over the wider life and death story lines. Ms Winsemius has again added to her complex world perfectly. many series fade with time, but this one starts well and maintains its momentum throughout. There is a hint of the next book to pique the interest of the reader, but as usual, each book has a satisfying ending.
I'm kind of gushing after finishing book 3 in this series, but I loved it. Book 1, "Reaper", had the badass Aerina that I caught myself envying and wanting to be. Book 2, "Patrician", had Lina who - as strange as it is to say - had this delicious self-deprecating streak in her character that I could so relate to and made me like her that much more. (Bonus points that she moves past that internal turmoil to start kicking ass in her own way like Aerina). And now Book 3, "Outsider", brings up the frigid and stiff Helen. She had the perfect life and everything lined up according to a well thought out plan, but then a tragic death, and unintended pregnancy, and the splash of dystopian society when everything comes to a head and the heroine must shine forth: BOOM there's Helen joining the kick ass ranks like Aerina and Lina before her, and doing it all her own way. Vick is such a great character, too. There's a part of me that is super depressed that the series is done and I won't be able to hang out with all of these characters. Marcus/Aerina, Lina/Jay, Helen/Vick.... Unless the author writes more?! Pretty pretty please? I'm hoping the Chelsea/Jefe hint of a story becomes something. Thanks to the author for another fantastic read.
