The previous book in the series left us on a cliff hanger and I’ve been looking forward to learning how it was resolved. I should have remembered that resolution comes in many shapes and guises. As in life, expect the unexpected! This instalment of the story involves a weaving together of a number of different threads (all of them important and not always obviously connected). Book four, is the middle of a vast story about power, love, destiny, choices and consequences and sacrifice. This portion of the tale, for me, conjured up an image of Fate as an old man doggedly knitting together a complex fishing net with which to ensnare an outcome that may or may not be what we expect. I love Gwynn White's writing; not only does she create a complex action packed plot, she doesn't forget to develop her characters. Some characters I like more than others (I just love the horrid Felix - not that I'd want to be in his clutches), but I care about all of the characters. I can't wait to read book five to find out what happens next!

Great fun!

Even though this is not my normal genre, I'm very impressed with the writing, storytelling, action, and imagination of this author. I really recommend this series for anyone interested in great storytelling.

8/10: Excellent read, well written, fell right into the fictional world created.

Argh Dmitri! How could he? It's all a game of tiles for him & Felix. And poor Meka. My heart goes out to him.

So, even though it's been a while since I read the last book in this series, it was surprisingly easy to get back into this multilayered story with its interesting characters and captivating world. Fast paced and a page turner, it was worth the wait.

Note to self: read the next one when it eventually comes out; it'll be worth it.

Picking up after the 3rd book...The Pathfinder Alliance has their hands full. Not in a good way either. Meka and Nicholas need to be rescued, while Felix and Dmitri are busy playing their games with one another.
On my, there is so much going on in this book. Nicholas is not where he is supposed to be, but then again maybe he is. Lukan is having some issues. Felix tries to take advantage...I don't like him. Dmitri is starting to get on my nerves, I hope he really has a plan for all that he puts the 3 boys through. They sure don't deserve it! Tao and Cricket are put on separate missions, but also kind of need to work together. OMG that ending...Nooooooo you can't tell me that and end it. Ok off to read book 5 now.

This book seamlessly picks up where book 3 ended. All the same characters with new ones introduced now and then but in such a way that they become essential to the storyline.

I wish someone would smack Dmitri. He is the only one who understands all the nuances of the curse, as he should since he is the one who created it. He won't be straightforward with any of those on his side but plays his stupid games.

Just when you think the good guys are finally going to have success, Dmitri pulls the rug out from under them. Supposedly this is for the greater good and will help them understand their roles in all of this (or something like that) Very aggravating. Nevertheless, I'm on to book 5.

I liked this series, because a) the premise is great- it's a world where magic & technology both exist, b) it's not everyday I find a book that can keep my interest intact after 3 consecutive books.
There are a lot of characters, and if you could keep up with the flow (the fans of GOT & HP will know how!) its a fun read. Also the characters are well fleshed out, and you can connect with them on a basic level.
Everybody has their own story to tell in this series.

The hero in waiting escapes, the rescue goes wrong, one of the twins is captured by Felix and the other is to play the role of a double agent. Dmitri's game of tiles with Felix is becoming interesting. The curse is heading towards an ending.

This is the fourth book in the Crown of Blood series and picks up where the third book left off with a cliffhanger. There are so many characters in this book to love and hate and the events that surround them keep you captivated.

Still full of action and intrigue. No capture of Nicholas yet. The Alliance missed, again. Must keep reading. Hoping end comes soon, and it is happy.

Wow, so far this is the best book in the series because everything is coming into place. The first book kept me interested because of the plot but I was not moved by the protagonists Lynx and Axel. I like Tao and Lila...I hate Lukan (he's an effective antagonist), and I'm losing my patience with Kestrel (in a positive sort of way.
Book 2 bored me because I really can't connect with the protagonists. I am a character-driven reader so if I can't connect with the main characters I kinda start losing interest to the series. What kept me going was my compulsion to know how the story will end. I'm glad I did because of Talon, Meka and Grigor – I love their sense of humor, quiet strength to face the obstacles and loyalty to each other. They are the ones that kept me reading. I actually like all the other characters the good ones and the bad ones except Lynx and Axel...for some reason I find them weak.
Book 4, I devoured in only one sitting. Each scene kept my heart beating fast and my head running ahead guessing how everything will unfold. But (yes there's a but) I don't like the ghosts' meddling. I hate the idea of any supernatural/paranormal manipulations to the story because I believe the story could have still gone on without them. Their meddling made me feel like the characters didn't really have a choice to their fates. No matter how many times the ghosts implied that they won't meddle without the person's consent, they still meddle directly and indirectly. Talon and the rests became just pawns to the dead seer who acts like a god (in my opinion he really is the main villain). There was even an implication of a chess game-like play between Dmitri the dead seer and the scheming and controlling Felix. What's more irritating was that the living adults had given them the free reign. That's the difference with the Percy Jackson Series, the mains refused to be influenced by the gods nor the prophecy. But that's how the author wanted the to story to go so as long as the teens still resist these ghosts I'm still in. That means their hearts and minds are in the right place more than that of the adults.
