Accused of witchcraft and hunted by Tyran's army, Marcii flees for her life. Exhausted and alone in the wilderness, she finds herself in perilous danger. Behind her an army of witch hunters bay for her blood, whilst directly in her path a creature so impossibly vast blocks her way. But when the enormous, demonic creature saves her from Tyran's wrath, and then steals her away to safety, all of Marcii's fears are turned on their head.

Relentless in his quest to vanquish Marcii and her demon, Tyran forces them to flee for the long abandoned town of Ravenhead. Why it's abandoned, Marcii doesn't know. But, unbeknownst to the young Dougherty, her demonic companion holds close many of the answers she seeks.

Unexplained blackouts and dreadful visions begin to consume Marcii's every waking thought, though she has no idea if what she's seeing is even remotely true. But, when her visions reveal that the only person she has left in the world is in mortal danger, once again she has no choice but to act, regardless of what it might cost.

Having finished Marcii, I was keen to continue my journey with Reaper. I wasn't to be disappointed, in fact, I couldn't put it down! A fantastic read with incredible detail and personality. I want a Reaper for myself!! Can't wait for the last leg . . . Midnight has lots to live up to, but I sincerely anticipate the hat trick.

Reaper is a beautiful follow on from Marcii. The book follows a darker and more mysterious route. Turner takes the reader deeper and deeper into the forest as Marcii if forced out of her home by the mob. With nothing to lose but her closest friends, Marcii is forced to face her fears head on. A wonderful buffer between Marcii and Midnight, it will leave you emotionally stretched and ready to take on the last of the trilogy in Midnight.

After Marcii, I was keen for the follow up to be released. Whether Marcii had escaped Newmarket safely and what happened to Kaylm. The relationship with Reaper and how he protects Marcii reminded me a little of Viviane and Red in the Redwoods. The book is full of mystery and intrigue with the plot unravelling to show the connections between Vixen, Malorie and Raven. I look forward to the final instalment with Midnight and hope to see the end of Tyran and his enforcers!

A very good follow on to the first book in the series. I thought this one might slow down after the short snappy pace of the first book but Turner keeps it going very well. Highly recommended series so far.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed the Redwoods books, this is a bit like Game of Thrones YA, Hunger Games with a splash of King Kong. I expected a cliff hanger but will probably read at a later date
