Who wouldn’t be enticed by the hot world of data analytics? The jobs are plentiful and the salary is great! But successful transitions to this exciting career require planning, preparation and advice from the Piyanka Jain, author of “Behind Every Good Decision” and President and CEO of analytics consulting company Aryng.
In “Acing Your Analytics Career Transition,” Jain provides a thorough, step-by-step “how-to” book on how to move from your current job into your dream analytics role. This information-packed book walks you through key stages in the career transition process, such as assessing your own aptitude for analytics, preparing your dream job short list, and identifying your skill gaps for the job you want. Next, Jain uses her extensive real-world data analytics experience with Fortune 50 companies to help you find analytics training options right for you. You’ll learn why nothing can beat having real-world, hands-on data analytics training in preparing you for a successful career. Finally, follow clear, concise bullet points on writing a killer resume and acing your interview and you’ll be well on your way to moving into the hot analytics field.
This book would be useful for college graduates or people who aren't experienced with job searches. It goes through the basic steps (skill assessment, employment gaps, resume, and interview) and give specific guidance for jobs in analytics. The only thing I didn't like is the occasional promotion of the author's business. A book should be a complete, standalone product. It shouldn't refer to other products or services ("but wait, if you want more... go to...").
