A new Standalone Romance novel by New York Times & USA Today Bestselling author Clarissa Wild. Maybell Fairweather was the girl of my dreams. Always smiling brightly, she kept going, despite the names her classmates called her behind her back. She was full of curiosity and independence, the extent of which I could only be jealous of. Even though she had all odds stacked against her, she knew what she wanted from life and pursued it, no matter the cost. She was completely my opposite in every way. Perfect, even though she couldn’t see it. Perfect … until me. Because this is the story of how I ruined her. Based on a true story. Standalone Romance. No cliffhanger. Early praise for "This is a MUST read guys. It doesn’t get any better than this. 5 stars." - Bloggers From Down Under "An emotionally charged story written from the heart, literally!" - Jezabell Girl & Friends "Epic doesn't seem a strong enough word." - Joanna's Goodreads Review "Acceptance, loyalty, honesty, and truly unconditional love. This book has all of that and more." - Jammie's Goodreads Review "An emotional roller coaster!" - Mandy's Goodreads Review

** Review written by Gayle From Bloggers From Down Under **

Wow, just wow.
I’m completely lost for words, so you could only imagine the internal dilemma I’m facing writing my review for Ruin.
You see this is a true story, based on actual events, and as a reader I don’t believe any true story should be judged. Maybe it’s just me, but when you are reading real life, it’s a true honour that shouldn’t be rated.
This is real life. This is a story about two people with stories to be told, feelings to be shared, secrets to be revealed, but just not between each other, but with the world.
We are getting a glimpse of their pain, their thoughts, their struggles, their demons.
We are getting their life story.
We are able to feel every heartbreak, every moment, every choice they make.
We get to hear them.
That can never be judged.

As a blogger, Ruin for me was nothing short of absolute brilliant. I was captured from the prologue, and I couldn’t put it down.
I laughed, I cried, I held my breath. The emotion that I felt was nothing short of soul crushing that at times I was left breathless. My heart broke into a million pieces, my belly ached from the crazy banter, my heart ached. I felt everything and so much more.
Rating this, it seems criminal too, because as I said earlier this is real, and real should never be judged or graded.
This is a MUST read guys.
It doesn’t get any better than this.

5 stars.

An emotionally charged story written from the heart, literally!

This was a story like no other. It wasn’t artificially enhanced or overly dramatised, it was just a sweet, tender, but at times sad, story of two young people brought together through tragic circumstances.

I wasn’t sure whether to give this story a read as an ARC but knowing and loving Clarissa Wild’s writing style I decided to put my faith in her and I’m really glad that I did. Whilst an unconventional love story, by today’s romance standards, it was a story that I couldn’t put down.

From the outset, the book, which is based on a true story, is cloaked in mystery. Readers are told told that the backstory to the characters will be revealed to them at the end of the book and whilst this fed my reading frenzy somewhat, the story sold itself to me without the additional intrigue. The story flowed beautifully, in my eyes, and I related to it on many levels. The characters were tainted by tragedy but brought together by love and whilst I didn’t cry (sorry Clarissa) their story did give me a lump in my throat.

This story is one to be experienced so I’m not going to over analyse it. I questioned giving it 5 Stars (a rating normally reserved for books I will re-read) and whilst I may re-read it at a later date, perhaps when my life needs to be put back into perspective, it is still a solid and rewarding read and one to be cherished.

So, dive in but do so on the proviso that this is unlike anything written by Clarissa to date but that is certainly not a bad thing, it merely demonstrates the strength and quality in her writing and storytelling abilities.

Based on a true story. Standalone Romance. No cliffhanger.

I am a fan of Clarissa Wild and even though Ruin was nothing like her other books that I have read, this story had me turning the pages and wanting to no more. I could feel in the writing that this was a emotional story told by the author. At times, I could feel the struggles the characters were going through. The title did throw me off a little bit because, I felt that no one in the story was ruined, I took more of a finding of oneself, a discovery of letting someone into your life and really opening your eyes and seeing what's around you.

Maybell Fairweather, is sort of a awkward character she suffers from aspergers and doesn't handle social situations well. It takes one night and her life dramatically changed and has to rely on others for help.

Alexander ( Alex) has had a crush on May since high school, his story is sad and touched my heart. His depression, need for forgiveness and feeling as if everything bad is his fault is too much for any person to handle. One dark night, leads to having a chance at doing something good for someone else, it being the girl of his dreams could be the change Alex needs in his life.

Ruin had me from the first page, it is a emotional story and it's hard to describe without adding spoilers. It is a story of two people that are hard on themselves with not being understood and bullied and finding each other may be what they both needed or could it Ruin them for anyone else? This is a 5 star Clarissa Wild must read.

I’ve never read a book by this author before, so I have nothing to sit down and compare this book to in terms of previous works. But I will say that for this reader, as far as jumping off points go, this was a really good place to start for me. Especially when you add in that this story was based on a true story, meaning the authors life.

It bonded me not only to the characters and the story that was I reading about, but in a small way to the author herself. And here’s why.

I’m the queen of a special needs house. From me (the mom), straight on down the line over the span of 16 years and 4 kids, I’ve hit a lot of branches on the autism spectrum tree. I even did what this author did and wrote a book about it because it’s such a big part of my life. So when I read a book where that plays a part, even in the smallest of ways, I’m equal parts eager and scared to read it. But I do walk away almost every single time with a kinship to the person who wrote it, whether it’s fictional or real. I won’t give away what aspects of the story were reality based, but I will say that because of the way it was presented through the character that was living with Asperger’s, it helped a lot with the understanding and bonding process here.

I connected because in a lot of ways, I saw my own son (my own self at times) in this character.

Which brings me to the story itself.

The friendship (what blossomed into romance), was cute. I mean, it really was a first love situation. There were times when it was awkward as one would expect it to be, then other times where it was just moving and beautiful. Everything I think you come to expect when you’re young and you fall in love for the first time. Sure, these characters were actually older than I assumed they were based on the way everything happened (it has a very YA feel to it), but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the way it all played out at all. If anything it captured me more.

But pulling back from that, tackling these characters as individuals, well there was nothing really cute about it. Both Maybell and Alex were dealt and are dealing with a pretty heavy hand. Her injury, their bullying and what felt at times like the true loss of themselves in a world others seemed to be deciding for them, it was all there, all real and hard to read at times.

I saw myself in Maybell. The bullying, the name calling, just how long it went on and just how vicious the people doing it could be, it was like I had gone back in time and was still haunting my high school hallways. The flashes to the past were a little hard for me to take for that reason, and because as time moves on, I’ve lived it over again as the mother of a teenager. Seen it through the eyes of another as it happened. So besides her special needs diagnosis, my heart felt and often times bled for her in that regard as well. No instance greater for me than the strength she needed to have to get through life after the accident.

The same went for Alex.

These two were very similar in the way they experienced life leading into what brings them together and while I can’t say that I understood Alex’s home life (as something like that has never happened to me), I can say that I understood him in every other way. The guilt he lived with, the need to do right by Maybell and others. It was all very real. As the real truths come to light and his role in how everything played out is established, I just wanted the best for him. For both of them. I understood him. I understood his choices leading into that fateful decision and well, I wanted him, them, to be able to rise above them.

Because these two fictional people deserved better.

In the end, I got everything I wanted, but I also got more. Because I got to see growth in these characters. I got to see them change and adapt to the life they were given and become stronger people because of everything they’ve been through. I got to see them happy, instead of being driven by guilt or pain. I got to see two characters, two people, come into themselves in such a strong and empowering way, which for this reader, was even better than any HEA that would have been/will be achieved.

The pacing was well done, I enjoyed the smooth flow of the story as it unfolded because it made it impossible to put down once started. If any of her other books read quite like this one in that regard more so than the other more emotional ones I’ve mentioned, then I’ll definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

And on a final note…

My hat is off to Clarissa for wanting to take these aspects of her life and put them into a book. Having done it myself, I know just what goes into an undertaking like this and it’s in no way easy. I’d venture to say it took as much strength to relive a lot of these moments as it did Maybell as she had to heal, and Alex as he had to accept, learn and grow. But that’s what made this such an enjoyable read. Because it felt as though I was a part of the author’s journey. And that for me was as new and unique as it was beautiful.

My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read a copy of this story before its official release. This is one journey (both character and author) that I’m really glad I took the chance on.

Maybell Fairweather is a young woman who was bullied and just never felt like she belonged but she was fortunate enough to find an outlet in dancing, writing and video games. However, when Maybell suffers an accident that keeps her hospitalized, she is faced with the possibility of permanently losing her-life long dream of dancing.

“I don’t care about your weirdness… It only makes me want to be with you more.”

Alexander Wright is a high school dropout who retreats into himself after a debilitating event affects his family. Feeling like he is always the cause of harm, he finds peace in his drawings and the girl from afar with a bright smile. When their paths cross, it isn’t how Alex expected they would meet and he must come to terms with the truth.

“All the pain …was worth it because I have you now.”

As Maybell and Alex form a friendship, they find it so easy to be with each other, a feeling neither ever experienced before. Despite being an independent person, Maybell enjoys leaning on Alex during her recovery and she treasures the moments when he is by her side. Wanting to give his all to Maybell, his sincerity and gentleness warms her heart and shows Alex’s true side.

“No…you’re not invisible at all, “ he says, looking at me with half mast eyes. “I see you. All the time.”

With the truth and fear looming over Alex’s conscience, he believes he’s making the best decision for Maybell but she isn’t about to let Alex descend into his darkness any longer. Knowing their love and bond is undeniable, Alex finds the strength to finally heal his mind and heart and realizes how much he has to offer Maybell. Once they reach this place, their mutual love transcends all their insecurities and they ultimately find solace in each other.

"There, I sit for a moment, reveling in the moment that I am inside the only woman I've ever wanted."

In Ruin, serious issues are tackled in a delicate but realistic manner and I couldn’t help but feel for their plights, as the most mundane become monumental. Immediately, I liked Maybell’s quirks, directness and self-acceptance that she is slightly different. With Alex, he really was a worthy hero and I was relieved his found his way.

In starting this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect given the title and blurb but it was about inspiration and how we must look forward despite the setbacks. While I enjoyed Clarissa Wild’s intimate writing style, there were times the pacing felt a bit slow to me. But, with such a strong character driven story, the plot remains solid with a heartwarming ending and it was so easy to empathize and root for these two characters.

As an additional note, there are facts throughout this book that are truths and I think it is courageous and admirable of the author to be so honest with her readers.

***FOUR STARS***

I read this entire story on a trip out of town, and it truly made the trip extra enjoyable. YA isn't my thing normally, but I totally make an exception with this story. Loved, loved, LOVED this one from the first page to the last. And the "Truth" in the ending of the story was icing on the cake.

TITLE: Ruin
AUTHOR: Clarissa Wild
GENRE: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
CHAPTERS: Prologue | 19 | Epilogue
RELEASE DATE: September 20th 2016

MY RATING: I HAVE TO LEAVE THIS BLANK BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO RATE IT

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

RUIN: This kicks starts us off in the 'Prologue' spoken in Alexander's own words, this book focuses on how he ruined Maybell Fairweather's life, the girl of his dreams, the complete opposite to him in every way, this book is also based on true events.

PRESENT: Here we see Maybell trying out for a place in dance, her whole career centers on this day, her one goal is to become a professional dancer, dance is what she's good at, what she lives and breathes for, dance is her life. So when she gets notified that she wasn't accepted all she feels is numb.

Being distracted whilst driving home she doesn't notice she's run a green light, someone crosses the street, everything happens at once, the car spiralling out of control, being jerked from side to side. Then darkness envelopes her.

Waking up in the hospital, many many months of rehabilitation to get her walking freely again because her leg was crushed and damaged in the accident, one constant in her life is the cute volunteer, who became so much more to her.

GAH don't hate the rater, there's some books people love that I may not love to their point of loving and there's some that I may love that others didn't so this is one of those books for me, I didn't hate it, I just didn't fully connect with the characters, or the storyline for that matter, I still can't place their ages so I'm guessing 18 or so abouts, as they didn't come across older than that, which is ok just that their mindset and dialogue seemed very young and that's where I struggled with this story.
I really wanted to love this, I've read previous books by this author that I really enjoyed but sadly this one for me wasn't one of them :(
Will this stop me from reading anything else by this author and the answer is a big fat NO!! I'll definitely be reading future works from her.

Vaya. Impresionante.

This was a very different read for me as was the genre. I've read 3 books by this author before and this was the fourth and can I just say I loved it just as much, if not more, than Clarissa's previous works even if the story was completely different.

Ruin has a very serious but also very realistic tone to it. It was beautiful to read something that came from an authors heart and that they felt so deeply. I got all the feels reading Ruin and knowing that Clarissa Wild put so much time, effort and so much of her own real, personal life into the pages made it that much more special and memorable.

Me pareció bueno pero no tanto.... creo que le faltó algo!! Aunque me gustó mas "La verdad"

**** 4 "Empty Feelings" Stars ****

"Sometimes, I just want to give up on it all. Sometimes, I wish for it all to just disappear. And sometimes...I just know that I don't belong in this world."

Maybell has always been an outsider looking in, whether it was at school or home, she never fit in. Her parents always treated her as extra special since she has Asperger's. Her mother in particular tried to rule everything Maybell ever did and pushing her to dance has been her mother's dream.

Until Maybell is in a horrible car accident, crushing her leg and her "mother's" dream for her to dance professionally.

Recovery is slow, painful and alone. Maybell has no friends and her parents are the biggest jackwagon assholes I have read for parents in a LONG time. As Maybell fights through the pain, she is befriended by Alex.

Alex has always liked Maybell from a distance. His infatuation started in school and has drawn him to her on many levels. Levels she doesn't know about because a twisted form of fate has stepped in and had Alex and Maybell's paths crossed in the craziest of ways.

Neither of the two have ever had the love from anyone close to make them ever feel wanted until now.

This story will break your heart, piss you off, leave you smiling and cheering by the end.

Thank you Miss Wild.....fabulous book for all to read.

Title: Ruin
Author: Clarissa Wild
Category: Romance
Series or Standalone: Standalone
POV: Dual
Plot: 3
Characters: 3
HEA: Not telling

I have loved many books from this author. The moment I read the blurb for this, I was captivated so I was very excited to start this book.
This is a story of not giving up. Maybell is in a car accident and it threatened the functionality of her leg. This is the story of how she fought to recover. This is how she met Alex and how he played a part in her recovery but also in her accident.
The story is not your usual Clarissa Wild book. It's tame when compared to her dark, gritty reads. I had no problem with the theme of the story. My main issue was with the characters. I felt a bit detached from them and this is why I struggled while rating this. I realize it is a book that is very personal to her because she put elements of her own life and experience in this, but as a reader I couldn't fully connect to the characters.
Still, her simple but flowing writing might win other readers over. I recommend it.

Ruin by Clarissa Wild is so powerful in the messages and emotions it is conveying, I have to give it a solid 4.5 stars. I found myself not wanting to put this book down. I laughed and cried with the story. The characters are very relatable and I found myself able to picture everything so vividly.

We are introduced to Maybell Fairweather, a young dancer trying to make a career out of dancing professionally. Audition after brutal audition. The rejection that comes from trying your very best and it still isn't good enough to land a spot dancing professionally. You feel the emotions as if you were finding out you didn't make whatever you've auditioned. The pressure she feels to be perfect for her parents and not let them down. She goes to the library and just relaxes by reading. What happens next will forever change her life. A distracted moment driving, a person stepping in front of her and she crashes her car, shattering her leg.

Maybell spends a long time in the hospital and we see the friendship between her a hospital volunteer Alexander Wright. We find out that Alex has had a crush on Maybell since high school. Alex is someone you are rooting for from the start.

We see their friendship blossom into love and it is beautiful and awkward. Everything that comes with first love. Maybell tries to be strong for everyone around her.

Alexander   :  Tears run down her cheeks as her hands roam my back, growing tighter as they move. She just needs to hold me and cry for a moment. I know she doesn’t want me or anyone else to see it, but sometimes, you just have to show your weakness in order to become strong again.

This paragraph in the book really touched me. It is so true and the way Ms. Wild incorporated this into the story line is superb. Maybell has Asperger's and has made her the target of bullying because she is quirky and different. Alex was also bullied but that, coupled with his home life, has him depressed. The story had a twist I didn't see coming.

This is a beautiful story that has ups and downs, funny moments and is just an all around great book. It is based on a true story. Ruin is told in dual POV and alternating between before and after the accident. She executes this flawlessly. I love Clarissa Wild's writing style and this is no exception. Ms. Wild has a gift for drawing you into the story and not letting go. I sat with tears streaming down my face as I finished. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Clarissa Wildnever fails to grab my attention from start to finish. This journey was a little different than her usual. The journey she took me on with Ruin was more than captivating. It was thought provoking. It was relatable. It came from the heart and was full of heart! <3

This isn't a romance story, it is a love story. This isn't my interpretation, it's fact. If by reading the blurb (which I didn't until after the fact), you didn't realize that ... then you didn't read it right, imo (lol) It's a journey, both individually and of self.

The mere fact that this story was based on a true story made my emotional attachment even stronger to the story. Every moment was charged with spark. It felt real and it WAS real. I spent a lot of time crying while I read this story because I felt it so strongly but I also smiled and my heart sang. The story is told in dual POV so there's no chance on misinterpretation on any one's character and the flow from past to present day was seamless.

I have to give mad fucking props to Clarissa Wild for opening up herself to us thru these characters. Let the world into who you are is never an easy decision because people will always judge and find fault. It's just the way of the world. But she showed her strength by telling us this story and I am damn proud of her and ridiculously in love with this story!

Title: Ruin
Author: Clarissa Wild
Series: standalone
Genre: young adult
Heat: 1/5
Rating: 2/5

I'm afraid to say that this one didn't quite do it for me.

Although the premise was intriguing (and the cover absolutely gorgeous), this didn't quite live up to the expectations in my mind. I fully understand how deeply personal this story is to Wild, which I admit makes me somewhat uncomfortable to say that I didn't like it. So I'll add that this is entirely my own opinion, and just because it didn't work for me, it doesn't mean that it won't work for you or others (as is evident by the many positive reviews already).

Where I think this fell flat for me was in its length. It was too rushed for such a poignant story, which meant I just couldn't get attached to either of the characters or their relationship. I'm also really not a fan of insta-love, and their relationship moved incredibly quickly due to the fast pace of the novel.

That guy who didn't judge me, but understood me, and liked to escape into a fantasy world, just like me. It's always been him.

I also wanted to see more of Alexander's mind, his thoughts and how his mental health was affecting his day to day life. But more than anything, I wanted to be shown and not told what was happening and how I should feel. And I wanted to see more how aspergers affected the life of May before her accident.

More than anything, and particularly with its length, this was just way too melodramatic.

Had this been a longer book, and had I actually been given the time to care about the characters and grieve for them, and had it taken longer to resolve itself and me to really feel the pain and issues both were going through, I would have really enjoyed reading this. It just felt a little too rushed for me, and not enough was really fully resolved, particularly with the relationships between the two lead characters and their families.

This is a good story but i will admit i did struggle with the first half of the book, for me it seemed to move a little slow and perhaps i was just a little in a rush for it to get to the point but by the 2nd half the story itself did pick up as things started to unravel, Alex is very sweet but i don't now really how i feel about what he did but everyone deserves a second chance right ?
Ya lovers and hopeless romantics this ones for you :)

I love Clarissa Wild but this book was depressing for me. I understand why she wanted to write this book but it wasn't for me. I can't really say anything about the book without giving anything away. I think many readers will find this book inspirational. So don't let my rating deter you. My advice is to read the first couple of pages of the book in preview. Then decide for yourself if this is book is for you.

I appreciate that writing is a cathartic activity. The author admits this book was based on a true story, one she felt compelled to tell. So for that reason, I'll limit my review to say that it just wasn't for me.

The material is heavy and hard to read, sometimes a bit awkward (as it was intended). I was bored by most of it because it bogged down in details that were not needed and omitted the ones that would have carried the story along.

This is definitely a case of "it's me, not you."

Ruin was a unique and heartfelt story that evoked a multitude of feelings from me as I read it. The story focused around Maybell and Alex. They had both struggled with being bullied in high school and that experience had affected both of them deeply. In addition, Alex was also traumatized by some personal events in his past that left him feeling as if he eventually "ruins" everything he cares about. Meanwhile, Maybell has her own insecurities which stemmed from many things, one of which was the fact that her parents always seemed to fail to prioritize her. Everything seemed to revolve around her father's job and a big promotion he was after.

A life-changing accident happens to Maybell and Alex comes to her rescue. He then meets up with her later in the hospital and they become friends and eventually a romance develops between them. Through all of this, Alex fights with himself and his feelings of unworthiness. I found myself holding out hope that they could work through their issues and find a way to make their relationship work.

This book left me with the opinion that you can work through anything if you are willing to put in the work and give it the effort. It was a story full of not just pain and anxiety for the characters but also heart and pure love. In my opinion, it was topped off by the "truth" shared by Ms. Wild at the end of the book. It really made the entire story that much more special.

I'm a long time Clarissa Wild fan and am always excited when she has a new book out. When I first read the blurb for Ruin I was instantly intrigued. This is one of those books that is emotional, gripping and very hard to rate and review. It is very different from what we're used to from Wild as this is based in part on the author's actual life. It is also quite different from what I was expecting going in based purely on the blurb.

Maybell is a young woman with Asperger who faces constant bullying from classmates because she is different. She manages to keep a smile on her face and finds an outlet through her passion for writing, dancing and video games. Despite her parents not being supportive of her dreams, she sets out to become a professional dancer. After news of an unsuccessful audition she gets into a car accident which changes the course of her life.

After the accident Maybell is faced with a long hospital stay and the possibility of never being able to dance again. A spot of light in her current turbulent day to day is Alexander, a hospital volunteer who she befriends. Alex is instantly drawn to Maybell (we find out they actually share a connection not apparent at first and that he has secretly had feelings for her for some time). Alex has not led a perfect life and is a high school drop out. He doesn't think he is deserving of this amazing young woman and feels like he may be her ruin. He is so sweet and genuine with Maybell. I just loved their scenes together. Alex thinks its best for her if he isn't in her life, but Maybell isn't about to let one of her first friends and someone she cares so much about slip out of her life.

I really loved both Maybell and Alex. They were interesting characters and I wanted both to have happy lives so badly. I'm not entirely sure how old they are, but I'm assuming their in their very late teens or early twenties. This is definitely more of a sweet love story than a steamy one. It's very much about two people, trying to live their life despite to the best of their abilities and overcome the obstacles that life can throw at them. I am always a sucker for stories about love overcoming obstacles and adversity so that aspect definitely appealed to me. This was an interesting and heartfelt romance based on a true story. I'm not sure it will appeal to all fans of Clarissa Wild's normal stories, but in mu opinion, it is definitely worth a read if you enjoy a sweet love story were two people find their soulmates in a realistic and touching way.

By now I have come to expect dark novels that I can sink my teeth into and love. When I dove into her latest I didn’t expect what was to come. A story that captured my interest from start to finish . A totally different book what I have come to know from this author but nevertheless was nearly everything I have come to expect her prose and style wise .

Based on true events, Wild’s new adult story Ruin tells the story of Mayfell ‘ May’ who could only be summed up as misfit. She only had one thing going for her, dance and now she has nothing. A car accident has landed her in hospital with a damaged leg in the present. Her dreams of becoming a professional dancer gone out of the window and she loss. Except for the boy who is constantly at her bedside as a volunteer. But he isn’t just another boy, their paths have crossed before and May soon thrust in an unknown world. A world where everything could be just right, but is it?

As Alex, the boy who saw May as the girl of his dreams. He seemingly had his life together with friends, but appearances are deceiving in the past. The present Alex isn’t the same boy, he may have an interest but things have changed. He knows the answers that have lead to Ruin……

Wild’s latest book was a surprise, I whilst enjoyed the story. It was missing one critical thing.

The problem with this book that is May and Alex didn’t fit exactly age they were supposed to be. With their issues and problems, they were painted as young adults but they didn’t connect that way. Knowing who May was didn’t help even when she took a leap out of her comfort zone. I wanted empathy with her despite her problems and I didn’t get that . That why I’m not totally in love with this quirky story

This book isn’t like other Clarissa Wild novels, yet that is ok. I found myself drawn in, wanting to know more about Alexander and Maybell; The story of how they are strangely tied together. The prologue gives few hints away and when the story gets into it, it’s a haunting tale, when we meet Maybell , we find her struggling thru pain, depression, anger, doubts when we find Alexander coming back into her life yet she doesn’t know who he truly is to her.
Oh my. The love story is one that I didn’t realize would have me in tears, or have me really rooting for them as I was. Their ages were also not one of adults but late teens, I believe. I found them to be more mature than I expected them to be but tragedy has a way of aging one’s self. Their friendship led to romance and that romance led to more. But there was a crash coming , a giant , heartbreak headed their way and when it happened—GAH!!! Ms. Wild, you had me in tears—on the work floor at my job, in tears. Normally when reading one of your books, I am scared but this, you really had such a beautiful way with this story and I loved how it came across. Not going to lie, it was hard to read at times and it wasn’t all rainbows and roses. A lot of it dealt with hard subjects and the angst was so real, it literally made my heart seize up due to how I felt so bad for the MC. I will say that I get where one of the MC was coming from. I want to say more but #nospoilers . The ending I wish would have said where the MC ended up, if they had children for it felt like a pat ending.
On an separate note, I loved what the author did after the book finished. Her separate note to the readers blew me away and was so touching and honest. She is a class act among authors. I loved what she had to say. I don’t want to give anything away but if anything, this story will really be worth it to purchase and read, knowing what she has to say to her readers afterwards. It made this reading experience 50xs more special.

My rating: 4.5 stars ****

This one was a little different then what I am used to from this author, but I it was very well written. The plot was a little offbeat and I had some trouble connecting with the characters for part of the book, I did really enjoy the story as a whole. Poor May. Talk about being kicked while you are down, the ability to live through some of the trials and tribulations that she did is a testament to people everywhere that no matter what life has thrown at you, there is always room for hope and inspiration. Alex was a bit odd and came off as a little stalkerish at times, but when I finished and gave some more thought to his character, those elements sort of added to the charm of the overall story. There are a lot of mixed opinions on this one, but that just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover. I would definitely check this one out and see for yourself.

3-3.5 stars! ARC review!

I struggled on how to rate this book. Did I like it? Yes.

It was cute and dealt with realistic issues, but I felt like the blurb was a bit misleading. It made it sound like it was something big or maybe my expectations were too high.
It wasn't angsty and the plot twist wasn't really shocking because we find out from the beginning what Alex does to Maybell. I honestly thought the "ruin" was going to be something different.

Almost one third of the book was boring and slow for my taste. I felt some information was irrelevant and it made the story drag.

I did like the main characters and all their little quirks. I definitely loved that they got their HEA<3 but I would have liked a longer epilogue with a little less focus on the past.

Yet again this author has blown me away with her way with words. I found myself opening to read a chapter before I went to sleep and ended up reading the whole book. Clarissa never fails to grab my attention from start to finish.

I found myself with goosebumps reading this. I went through all sorts of emotions and was so heartfelt being based on a true story.

I'm not gonna say anything about the storyline. I believe you should jump in & give it a go. This is a fantastic well written story that I highly recommend.

I have read and enjoyed everything that I've read by Clarissa Wild and this book was no exception. While this isn't the type of romance Ms. Wild typical writes, filled with sex and dominance, it resonates more with the reader for that reason.
Without giving anything away I will say that you must read to the end. The last chapter titled "Truth" will really put things in perspective and make you think.
