Three people at the brink of achieving all they’ve dreamed of since childhood…will the past get in their way?
Zannia Morrow is blazing a path to stardom as supermodel, Zane. Her million dollar face and body have landed her the most coveted modeling contract in the business, but Zannia has a problem. It’s one that money and success can’t fix.
Bonita Jones ran away from home at 16 and now she’s Benxi, a hot new R&B singer with the right voice and look to take her right up the charts. Her future is bright, but she’s done some things she’ll do anything to keep the world from knowing, even if includes sacrificing the success that’s right within her reach.
Mekhi Johnson’s had success as a music producer. He’s got the talent, connections, and drive to take him all the way to the top. He just needs the right artist to make it happen. Will he be able to sign Benxi, or will an old enemy stand between him and his next level?
Even as she pursued degrees in Textile Technology, Organizational Leadership and finally, Adult Education, Rhonda McKnight’s love for books and desire to write stories was always in the back of her mind and in the forefront of her heart. Rhonda loves reading and writing stories that touch the heart of women through complex plots and interesting characters in crisis. She writes from the comfort of her South Carolina home with black tea, potato chips and chocolate on hand. At her feet sits a snappy mixed breed dog. She can be reached at her website at www.rhondamcknight.com and on social media at www.facebook.com/booksbyrhondawww.twitter.com/rhondamcknightwww.instagram.com/authorrhondamcknight
First can I say I have been waiting on something new from Rhonda McKnight and boy did she deliver. Almost there reads like a novel, but is a prequel to a longer book. This prequel is the story of Benxi, Zane and Mekhi. Benxi is a singer from Tampico Georgia. She thinks by running away from a strict grandmother and some other things I'm not gonna mention that she can outrun her demons. Mekhi is music producer who thinks he can give Benxi her next big hit. And then there's Zane. Zane is a supermodel who is dealing with something but is trying so hard to hide it. Oh yeah, Mekhi was her boyfriend who she was obsessed with. Then there are secondary characters Cig who is Benxi's music producer. Zander, who is a rappper that is also Zane's brother. Then there is Grandma Lacy who is Benxi's grandmother. This is not your typical Rhonda Mcknight book. Its a great book and you can tell she stepped out of her comfort zone because these people are not saved and nowhere near being saved. I can not wait for Shame on You because Ms. Mcknight is going to bring this full circle and introduce them to the God like we know she can.
I love reading Rhonda’s work. She always find a way to grab your attention and lure you into the lives of her characters. These characters in this story held a lot of deep emotions; anger, resentment, rage, guilt. At times I couldn’t figure out who was more messed up than the other. This is what she does to make her characters real and interesting. I love how she switched from one character to another throughout the chapters in order to gain deeper insight on what’s happening. I found it as a good way to keep the story moving. There was so many twists and turns in each of the characters lives that it was actually hard for me to stay away from this book too long. I’m always wondering in the back of my mind, “What’s happening next, and to who?” I can not wait to read her next book. Great story, wonderful characters, and an amazing plot. Job well done!!
Rhonda McKnight does not disappoint at all, Almost There is a great prequel to Shame-on you, this was a page turner and it has me geared up and ready to read Shame on you. I look forward to see how this storyline will unfold.
Almost There: Prequel to Shame on You, is one of the best music dramas I've read in a long time! I'm about to dive into Shame on You because I need more! Rhonda McKnight is one of the best writers in the game of Christian Fiction. This is edgy CF and I am here for it.
Almost There is a novel about two amazing women, and the man they have in common. The characters are real and believable; and the plot is one that keeps you wondering what will happen next. I look forward to reading more of Rhonda McKn's books.
Life choices can affect your future. Unresolved pain impacts relationships. This book takes you on this journey. All three characters are successful but how will their demons charter the course. Great read and interesting plot. Enjoy!!!
Poor Zander just didn't want to admit Zannia ways as sick as their mother so he blamed Mekhi for her problems. Bonita is still traumatized over her rape and Mekhi has deep issues
This prequel cleared up some things about Benxi and why she is the way that she is. She is as broken as Sameria was in the first book of this series.
Mehki has issues too but my heart was caught up with Zannia. Wondering what her complex story is. Her brother, Zander has deep history with Mehki. What is the deal with that?
And how is Sameria going to play into all of this drama?
This prequel leaves the reader with a lot of questions.
And I enjoyed every bit of the intrigue. This was a great read, a perfect back story.
Another great read from Rhonda McKnight! 'Almost There' was definitely a teaser and now I'm even more excited to read 'Shame on You'. I love that I was able to learn more about Mekhi and Benxi from the beginning. Even though I had my reservations about Benxi, she's definitely starting to grow on me. I'm also curious to see how Zane will fit into all the madness. Lol! November 8th can't come soon enough!
I promise you will not put this book down until the very end! Wow, Rhonda..you did your thing on this one! I have enjoyed all of the books in the Samaria Jacobs series, but this one here! You don't often get a backstory on the characters in books you love, but "Almost There" really opened my eyes to Mekhi, Benxi, Cig, Zanaire and Zander! I kinda want to go back and start all over with the series before "Shame on You" comes out!
This is a very easy and quick read and it does not disappoint!
I don't know why, but I was prepared not to like this book! Needless to say, my brain must be on vacation! This book is awesome sauce!
Digging into Benxi's history was a great idea. It explains the story behind the person. I felt this one. The dialog is so engaging. This story draws you in and holds you tight.
I understand the disclaimer, although you didn't need it. Great job Ms Rhonda!
Things are not always what they seem! Benxi, Mekhi and Zannia all had success but where still not happy. I can't wait for the next book! This author never disappoints me!
I love this author but this is really different it was good. I can tell that she moved from her comfort zone and midway I recognized her style. Thank you for another great read and I hope you are almost there with the next book!!!
