Park ranger (Alexis Finch) and former FBI Agent (Casper Lawrence) team up to solve a crime after human remains are found at Glacier National Park. It seems drugs are also involved. Casper has been demoted to customs and border patrol after a job he did that went bad for the FBI. Alexis loves her job as law enforcement agent that she has had for the past five years, even though it is hard to work alongside her ex-husband Travis. Along the way, Alexis and Casper investigate a dangerous motorcycle gang that could be implicated in the crime.

This was a very entertaining read with an exciting conclusion. The bear attack at the beginning of the book was quite scary. I liked the great setting in the park. Alexis was a gutsy heroine at times and she had good chemistry with Casper. I also liked Casper’s friend, US Marshal Evan Steel. This is the first book I’ve read by Danica Winters and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Wild Montana with its delicate, tender, nearly fragile air around the main characters put against the relentless and unforgiving wilderness of Montana and a murder case with only a foot left from the victim telling a gruesome story amazed me.
I absolute loved Casper Lawrence and commend the author's ability to built an alpha male with such a tender and sensitive side without taking away from his 'alpha' male characteristics. Life had humbled him, put him a situations no one should have to face, resulting in questionable actions, and broken soul in a strong man.
Alexis Finch had faced her own challenges and demons in life, building a strong and capable woman. The daily test in her life to be able to work with her abusively controlling ex-husband set her in a vulnerable place, more so than she ever even realized.
Casper and Alexis has an honest, palpable connection and chemistry between them. They fit together, mind, body, and soul. They are true equals, with respect and appreciation to each other. I adored them as a couple, they made sense in the best kind of way. Their life experiences abled them to understand where the other was coming from like life had prepared them to be there for each other as the time came.
The puzzling murder case with nearly any clues had a frightening tone around it. Not only because of the Motorcycle Club and its threatening members but the direction of where the clues were pointing to, the impossible implications of the results.
Through the story, I was impressed with Casper and Alexis. The fact that they were not 'the best and the brightest' but had to fight for every single step in life made me admire them even more. The vulnerability and humble attitude, honesty and openness, it was natural to relate to them and love them, made me want to embrace them.
Whenever a treacherous action and deadly suspense is paired with the ruthless nature and wilderness giving it several different kinds of challenges and enemies to fight and conquer, the fervor of the tale intensifies giving it another layer of depth and acumen and this was proved in Wild Montana frequently.

Casper Lawrence is a border patrol agent who teams up with park ranger Alexis Finch when human remains are found in Glacier National Park. It appears to be linked with drugs coming across the border from Canada, and a motorcycle club seems to be involved as well.

Even though this was much shorter than your usual Intrigue book, it still took me a couple of days to get through, because I was never really engaged! I thought I'd get through it quicker, considering how short it was! I think I may have been put off by the motorcycle club angle. Although this doesn't glamourise motorcycle clubs the way that the glut of mummy porn out there these days does (it thankfully portrays them as the criminal enterprises they are), it simply didn't pique my interest. The pace was actually kind of plodding until the admittedly exciting climax (guns and helicopters!) The anguished pasts of the hero and heroine felt almost glossed over because the book was too short to go into any real detail. Unless I read a severely edited version? I'm not sure. However, Danica Winters handled the action scenes with aplomb, so I'll be interested in reading further books by her, even if this one missed the mark for me.

I was stuck in the city on medical travel and I had to make an impossible decision, books or pants. Apparently I boarded the plane with a single pair of dirty Carhartts and a book that sucks. Where are my pants and my Kindle? Where is the grown up in charge? Anyways, I found myself in a situation of book desperation. I am stranded in a box store wasteland without reading material and fasting for surgery. This is an incredibly bad combination.

I ventured out and discovered my genre choices were western, romance, Christian, western romance, Christian romance, or Christian western romance. I did what made the most sense to me at the time and decided upon the cheapest. (I am sure you are probably saying that purchasing pants would have made the most sense, but I don’t need your internet judgment right now.) The Harlequin Intrigue books were $4.31 – I thought this was great; however, it was really a warning. My options were limited and my need to read got the better of me.

Wild Montana was just an irresistible title because Montana is my old stomping grounds. The promise of Glacier National Park scenery, biker gangs, and steamy border guards all for the low price of $4.31 seemed like a steal. It was. They stole my $4.31 and gave me hot word mess in its place.

I wish Winters spent as much time describing the landscape as she did the manscape. There was not enough Montana-ness to sell that aspect of the book to me. With a lack of setting, that means this book needs to stand on characters, plot, or writing. Let’s just cross writing of the list. We all know that Harlequin paperbacks are not read as examples of contemporary literature. They are assumed to be light reads for entertainment and fun; at least, that is how I think of them. That leaves the plot and characters to carry the tone.

The plot was too rushed for me. In an effort to create suspense the action flows, but I was never able to suspend reality long enough to believe in this life or death whirlwind romance. Plus, there were continuity issues in the text. I think it was around chapter seven or so where they became too much of a distraction for me. I won’t fuss too much about it because I am sure that this is not something that would bother the average reader. It appears that this genre is created by the bulk for an audience that appreciates the aspects I am struggling to enjoy. Getting too caught up in the details doesn’t really work if this is a fun light read, but I live in the details.

On page 226, during the climax (pun totally intended) the heroine wishes the cowboy hat wearing man were there, “Silently, she wished he was here. He’d know how to get them out of this mess.” – So my problem with this is that the main character has known the unnamed man for all of three or four days and already she is counting on him to save her in a life or death situation. Really? I don’t understand it. The entire book building up to this point is all about how she is a strong, independent woman, and how tough she is. Umm…the disconnect is too much for me.

I think it is good for me to branch out of my reading comfort zone and try new genres. However, I think this time I should have purchased pants. On a positive note, I plan to gift this book to a former Glacier National Park ranger. I hope she enjoys it and gets a laugh or two out of it.

Another fantastic and suspenseful page-turner from Danica Winters set in Montana. Alexis Finch is a park ranger who has had a difficult life and is most at peace in the outdoors. Casper Lawrence is a former FBI agent who made a bad decision and was demoted to a remote Border Patrol station as punishment. They are investigating the report of a possible body in Glacier National Park, and are thrust into international intrigue involving drugs, corrupt LEOs and a motorcycle gang. The story is fast-paced, and once again Danica managed to surprise me with the identities of the ultimate wrong-doers. Highly recommend for all lovers of romantic suspense!

With believable characters and a well written plot make "Montana Wild" a fast paced, suspenseful read. From the moment you start reading you don't want to put it down until the last page. There are enough twist and turns to keep you guessing as well as a blossoming romance that will make you sigh. Take a moment to enjoy this great read.

Great book Wild Montana (Harlequin Intrigue) by Danica Winters . Clеvеr writing... This iѕ a muѕt rеаd for everyone...Thе bооk was very hеlрful аnd I dоn't regret rеаding it. Basically, this is very interesting and it's an eye catching story you would be interested in because the book kept my interest, and the whole story moved along quite well. I suspended everything I was doing to concentrate on this. The Author did a very great and awesome job because the style of writing was very clear and well understood. The story is very interesting and it gave me incredible insight on how to handle challenges. I enjoyed this book and would love to read the whole book over and over. I read for the purpose of learning and I think I've learned from “Wild Montana (Harlequin Intrigue)”. The moment I started reading this story, I couldn't put it down...I'm so glad I took a chance on something with so few reviews and read this!

I'm a sucker for a well written romance novel and just couldn't stop myself from giving Wild Montana a shot (the cowboy did the trick *wink*). The story of Casper Lawrence and Alexis Finch is marvelously crafted with vividly portrayed scenes. I really enjoyed the depth of the characters and how they grow together on their mission. Full marks for character development right here.

The writing is incredibly fast paced, captivating and kept me at the edge of my seat throughout. Danica Winters' writing style makes picturing the scenes incredibly easy and are worthy of endless praise.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this to anyone who appreciates a good romance story. Trust me, don't miss out on this one.

Alexis isn't very trusting of people. She bounced around foster homes as a child. When she's assigned to work with CBP Agent, Casper, on a body found in the woods.
Casper was sent from the FBI down to CBP after his screw ups. Working this case may get him back in the FBI. But, he can't stop watching Alexis work. There is a pull to her he doesn't understand.
The characters were strong and the storyline suspenseful.
Wild Montana was a great quick read. The writing was good and the story flowed well. It's told in both Alexis and Casper's POV.

Wonderfully fast paced story. Two law enforcement agents have to work together to solve a case and keep each other alive.

Based in the upper wilds of Montana, a hiker is lost and only parts of them are found. Their backpack was found with drugs and cash. After an accident and evidence issues, it is up to Casper Lawrence to protect Alexis from those who would want them out of the way.

Such a great and fast read!!!

This is the first Intrigue novel I’ve read so I hope this isn’t how they all are. It’s not that interesting, the love story is lacking in substance, and there’s no smut to offset the lack of story (if that’s what you’re into). I value any writers hard work, I won’t knock that, but this book just did not do it for me

decent story line. but there was one thing that really bugged me. had a place described in the book that I've been too but was very flawed description. if your going to use a somewhat known facility in a book maybe double check what its actually like inside before writing about it....

The wife and I read this one together, were both surprised to find a lack of BIPOC characters and a lack of writing skill.

Montana has a big population of Indigenous people but Danica seems to like a whitewashed Montana. She should think beyond the ranch!

I bought this to read on a weekend camping trip with friends. I’ve enjoyed a couple Harlequin Intrigue books and figured I should try a new writer. Also, the cover looked a little more interesting than the other Intrigue book I was considering, so I figured I should give it a chance. Boy was I wrong. I didn't like any of the characters and I was not at all interested to see how it was going to end. It wasn’t just the story that was bad, the writing was terrible, I ended up putting it down and reading a Heather Graham book I’ve already read and had left in the car instead of finishing this one. Then I tried to pick this one back up and finish it only to make it a couple more pages before recycling it. And I’ve NEVER recycled a book before. Unless you are desperate, I would probably skip this writer altogether. There are so many writers in this genre, don’t make the same mistake I did and waste your time on this one. The more discerning we are, the better the books they will publish!

Meh. Waste of time and money. I thought the characters were thin and the plot was rushed. Better authors to read if you like this kind of story. Seems like a high school student wrote this the night before it was due. If you like this genre, read Kat Martin instead.

Wild Montana by Danica Winters. I received this book free for an honest review. I enjoyed the book, it was an easy read with a good story line. A discredited FBI agent and a beautiful park ranger must work together to solve a murder at Glacier national Park. At first it was believed that the person was killed by a grizzly bear---until they get more pieces of the body. They find a backpack full of drugs and money but not the identity of the body parts.\. .Clues lead to a motorcycle gang with close ties to the Canadian police on their side of the border and crooked park personal on the US side. When they learn too much they are to be killed. How it all works out makes the book hard to put down. It doesn't overdo or get explicit with the sex or lanquage . The ending has a few surprises. This is the third Danica Winters book and I have enjoyed them all. I will be looking at some of the other series she has written. Alice Boni

This is a different cowboy story! Alexis is the park ranger and she was contacted about a possible bear attack in her park. Casper with his cowboy hat has been sent to help her but she doesn't really want it but Casper needs this to prove he isn't a loose cannon. When Casper and Lex(Alexis) discover a backpack with stuff in it and then they are run off the road for it. Their injuries are not to bad but the backpack is gone so now they have to find it for both their careers. It seems everyone is against them finding the answers they seek including Lex's jerk of an ex husband. There is danger everywhere they turn but Casper and Lex really begin to fall in love if only they can stay alive.

I could not put this one down! Having been many times to Glacier National Park, I loved the location of this book and the amount of research Danica did to get the details correct. The story about Casper and Alexis kept me on the edge of my seat. Between the setting, the motorcycle gangs, and drug running across the border, you will not be disappointed with the action or the building love between the lead characters.
