Shifting Impulse is a club where shifters who don’t believe in fated mates find theirs.
Thirty-one-year-old Anna Morison is a sassy, curvy, workaholic attorney who goes to her favorite club, SI, to let off some steam. She finds herself captive in a hot stranger’s arms and she is set on letting him know she isn’t interested. Stubborn, strong, Alpha bear shifter Adam Ford knows exactly who and what he wants. A relationship with Anna. He’s also very determined to get her to accept she is his fated mate.
Will they find love in each other’s arms or will fear prevent Anna from taking chances?
This is the first book in the Shifting Impulse series and it is a standalone with NO cliffhangers and a "happily ever after". It contains explicit language and sizzling hot scenes that might set your Kindle on fire. Intended for readers 18+.
This is one of those fun steamy quick reads about dates mate and the link. I really liked it, for the most part.
Adam was the best part of the story. He was so open minded and sweet while being hard at the same time. Being a bear.... I wanted to hear him roar. He was more of a laid back type of man, and his bear really took a liking to his mate.
Anna the heroine annoyed me. The mining after they met made me mad. I totally understand where she was coming from but the way she treated him got in my nerves. She finally did get on my good side by the end. She was very stubborn and independent and yes that's a good thing but in this case I didn't like it.
The plot was fast paced and low angst. Fated mates means love/Lust at first sight and in this case, the heroine was really in the know about shifters so she thought he was a creep.
Overall Adam was the best part of the story, the alternating point of view was a real plus. The ending...... I guess it could leave it open to more, it was kind of just done, I would have liked something more..... but I will read more from this author in the future. She has an ability to form a paranormal world that I liked. 4 stars #2OCCJD
I am very divided on this story, which if I’ve read background information correctly was this author’s first published work. I read the second edition of this story which is lengthened and revised from the first. Because I believe very firmly in being positive about authors, I’m going to be rather careful and precise in my wording on this review.
I am a reader who gets to know and understand characters through their conversations, their dialog with each other. I found very little of that in this story. I did find inner conversations, inner dialog that was never spoken but we were privy to. I could not connect with Anna, in fact even to the final page I rather disliked her. I admire a strong, independent woman. Anna didn’t come off as that to me, instead she was more of an angry woman who rarely gave any male a chance to know her – if she never connected, she’d never be hurt. The moment she started to soften a bit, and I began to think better of her, she immediately reacted with anger and pushed Adam away… yet again. After a while it became old and I simply accepted that this is how Anna is wired.
I believe the series has potential so I’m picking up the second story. That will decide if I continue or not. I’m not being harsh and I’m aiming for polite. Truth is that not every author or story is going to be a fit with every reader. I’ll try Ms Woodlove again and see how we fit.
I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. For ten dollars a month you get access to thousands of really great stories across all genre, and the author gets paid for you reading the story through to the 100% mark. It’s a win-win. Probably the best 10 bucks I spend a month.
I received a free review copy of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
'Anna & the Bear' is Aurora's debut & also the first book in her series "Shifting Impulse"... as this is a debut for Aurora, I went in without knowing just what I should expect, but the description had me intrigued. I quickly found myself lost within the storyline, I found it intriguing that the leading lady Anna was older than you normally read, yes she was strong, but she also had a weakness there too. Our leading man Adam is cool, calm & surprised to finally find his mate, especially after searching for so long. The only problem I found when reading this, was the length... I could have read triple what was inside this book, Anna & Adam's interractions where fun to read. I can't wait to read what happens next in the series.
I liked this book but I didn't love it. It was only 72 pages and I think it could have been longer to give a little more story especially to the background of the characters. This book is Free on kindle Unlimited or 99p which I think the book is definitely worth.
Synopsis; Adam is a shifter bear who has just found his mate, Anna. She is drawn to Adam almost instantly but she tries to resist the urges.

* I received this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review*
Truly funny, sexy bear shifter story with a snarky, yet sometimes timid Anna, not wanting anything to do with her " mate" Adam.. Of course that's not going to stop Adam from making sure he and Anna have a future !! Lots of fun, sexy innuendo, stubborn mules have nothing on Anna, and let's just say, when a Bear shifter gets something or someone on his mind.... nothing, I mean nothing gets in his way of what he wants, and he wants Anna !! 4 ☆'s for a cute, quirky, bear shifter story from Aurora Woodlove !! I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
This is book one in the Shifting Impulse series. Enjoyable paranormal read wit bear shifters. Well written with interesting characters. Anna is a workaholic because she want to avoid disappointments. Adam is a bear shifter that doesn't give up when he knows he has found his mate. I like the chemistry and dynamic between main characters. Action, sexy adventure, drama and a fated mate - you will find in this story. I recommend it.
Could have been so much better. Sorry I had to skim this after chap 2. Did absolutely nothing for me. Felt like I was on a merry-go-round and I got dizzy just reading it, wasn't sure where it was going. This writers style is not for me.
Adams's Anna at SI and realizes she is his fated mate. Something he had never believed in. Anna doesn't trust men. She is an attorney and does not want a man. Adam needs to she her she needs him
Strong language: Mild Drugs: No Violence: No Sexual content: Graphic
I received a free copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
Anna, a woman enjoying herself in a club – firmly unattached and staying that way, thank you very much – finds herself suddenly in over her head as a man holds her intimately while she dances. Despite her brain screaming it’s a bad idea she struggles to pull away. Yet her body still resists, and things quickly spin out of her control.
I enjoyed this book but felt it could have been expanded with more details to give deeper impact. There were scenes of intense emotion, but this was not always passed on to the reader as well as I would like, forcing me to fill in the gaps a little too often.
The plot was interesting, with Adam, the man in question at the club, hiding the secret that he is a bear shifter from Anna, a woman he knows to be his mate at first glance. A mystical bond forms between them, yet he is perplexed at why she pushes it away and tries to refuse him at first. Soon however she is swept off her feet by her emotions, almost as if the cosmos is taking over for her.
I was confused by the way Anna’s reasons for not wanting to be involved here hidden at first, it gave me images of something much darker, such as an abusive relationship or childhood. This did not mesh with her character, who, while occasionally seeming a drama queen, was not prone to flights of fancy.
“ Her heart was the most precious thing she had, and she felt she had to guard it in any way possible. Even if that meant she was at times socially awkward, secretive and reclusive. If that was the cost of her heart being in one piece, it was a small price to pay. ”
The relationship developed quickly, largely through the use of sex, combined with a strong connection that needed no words. Little was shared between them in speech on the page, yet it felt like volumes passed between them on a deeper level. At times I felt the relationship and the swing from yes to no or “I want him” to “this is crazy and he is probably a psycho” went too fast, but I feel that is to be expected for a short novel.
I loved the supernatural elements, twists were added in, and the reveal was well done. The last scene left me feeling satisfied.
The 411 This short novel was fun and enjoyable but did have one or two issues in lacking material that would have rocketed it to being amazing. Occasionally the relationship took an unexpected jump from the tracks, but overall it was an interesting development with fantastic supernatural elements and a few twists thrown in.
I was not blown away by the book, but enjoyed it and believe the author has lots of potential to expand still. I look forward to reading future works.
I give this book a 3.5, adjusted to a 4 for reviewing purposes
Book one in the Shifting Impulse series and I will be getting the next one. Attorney Anna Morison is a thirty-one year old workaholic who decides to go to her favorite bar Shifting Impulse so she can have some fun. Adam and his Twin brother have ten restaurants that are called European Mix #1 etc. and both brothers are workaholics, they have also decided to take a break. What happens when Alpha bear shifter Adam Ford see Anna and decides she is his? I was gifted a copy for an honest review.
I love paranormal romances featuring sexy alphas who really love and protect the ones they love. This one is a winner. It is the story of a woman who has focused on work to avoid disappointments and doesn't really welcome more. Luckily, she meets a bear shifter that doesn't give up when he knows he has found his mate. They have great chemistry. I really enjoyed the story.
What a wonderful entertaining story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The story covers A feisty independent woman and single parent (Anna), her friend (Andrea), Adam Ford, a lonely man/bear shifter, his twin brother (Ryan). What you will find in this story is: drama, a shifter club (Shifter Impulse) a fated mate, attractions, stalker like actions, advice from a friend, a call, a note, days later, a restaurant, a twin brother, a nightmare, Adam is back, explanations, a claiming, lust, emotional feelings, love and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written. The characters have needs and desires according to their personality. I would recommend this book to people that like to read a well written entertaining bear shifter romance with a HEA.
Anna is out at her favorite place to dance, when someone wraps his arms around her on the dance floor. She plans to tell him that she isn't interested, but at the same time her body/mind are necessarily listening. Adam know he has found his fated mate and plans on never letting her go, now he just has to convince her. My favorite line was "It was like her soul was having a deja-vu."
This edition has been extended from the first edition and builds up their relationship even better. I really enjoyed the changes.
Anna and the Bear: A BBW Bear-Shifter Romance Shifting Impulse book 1 (Second Edition - 2016) by Aurora Woodlove ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a phenomenal bear shifter romance, with very lovable characters. I liked the main couple and all the other characters, too. This is by far one of the most entertaining shifter books, Aurora Woodlove has written a unique paranormal shifter romance storyline that is amazing, exciting and enthralling read. I love bear shifter books that the shifter transforms into a large size grizzly bear. I want this to be the beginning of a series because I'd like to read stories about the shifters who are in the storyline. I typically love to find several storyline passion plots in paranormal shifter romances but this one is well written with a surprising depth and it leaves you wanting to read more about the various members of this clan. Well done! I like how Aurora Woodlove writes the storyline of Adam and Anna. The romance is full of romantic gestures. I love how Aurora represented the bear shifter community in this storyline. All of the main characters are presented in a true family and extend family form. We are shown the ups and downs of taking a mate and how going outside the norm of finding a mate for shifters can have both positive and negative impacts. If you like bear shifter romance books then this book is for you. But remember, it is not like the normal bear shifter romance storylin.
I became so engrossed with Anna and Adam's storyline from the first paragraph to the last word. Such action, sexy adventure, good over evil person and of course the love with our Hero and Heroine and just when you think that the story will end. But you the reader hate that's the end is near you are given further access to be in the characters lives for little while longer, you aren't satisfied but resigned that all awesome things must end. I enjoyed this story a lot. I'm also hoping that there will be other stories to go along with the other characters from this story. I really enjoy seeing other known characters and seeing how they've evolved. To anyone who enjoys romance and bear shifters, this is a great, fantastic storyline. I am so into this book that I felt like the characters became my friends and I DIDN'T WANT THE STORYLINE TO END. This is a great book to add to your TBR list. I'm so excited about reading the next book in this series. I received this ARC for my honest opinion in the form of a review as I love communicating with other readers. I highly recommend this book.
If you believe in the world of paranormal romance, the possibilities are endless and fascinating!
This is actually the first book I have read of Aurora Woodlove. This was a great book. I had actually wanted to read this one before diving into book 2. Oh can’t wait for that one.
Anna had some self esteem issues. She was this beautiful plus size woman. She was a private person and keep her emotions to herself. She did not want to put her heart out there. She wanted to keep this barrier around her heart and let no one in. She did not want to get hurt ever again.
Anna after dancing with this handsome man found that he was hugging her while they danced. This caused feelings to arise in her she did not want to feel. It was like her emotions came pouring in like someone had lifted a flood gate and it was more then she could handle. It was emotion over load. She was lucky that she had a wonderful gentleman by to keep her safe since her body and mind completely shut down.
Adam how found his mate. It was not the first time he had seen her but the first time he had physical contact with her. He was having a hard time keeping his bear in check. His bear wanted to claim what was theirs. It was not long before Adam saw that his mate was going to be a hand full. She was feisty and had a temper out of this world. Yip, he had his hands full.
Anna could not believe she had this sexy stalker. Her body and heart were screaming to go for it and her mind was saying no. The truth was she was thinking way to much. Adam was going to have his work cut out for him wooing her not to mention he had to find a way to tell her he was a shifter. WOW, what a conversation to have. Will Adam be able to win Anna over?
As the title says this is the revised version of "Anna and the Bear." I've read the original as well. The revisions did improve the story and reader experience. There was a bit more back story added to the beginning of the story which helped. The dialogue was increased which was a definite improvement. Still I think more dialogue would be better as the characters were still in their heads a lot. I rated the first edition 3 stars and this one 4 stars.
I did enjoy the main characters Anna and Adam. It was easy to understand why they were both so introverted and had difficulty opening up. Throughout the story you could see them slowly opening up to not only each other, but within themselves. I thought Anna had the hardest time as she didn't have an inner bear to help her process. Her turmoil and wavering back and forth seemed natural to me. I absolutely loved Anna's best friend Andrea and her young son Chris. The boy's interaction with Adam was hilarious!
Ms. Woodlove has much potential as an author and I will continue to read her stories.
How is the author's writing? Good Is there violence? No Is there sexual content? Yes How is the story narrated? Third person-alternating viewpoints
Which of these words best describes the mood? Thoughtful and hopeful How would you describe the pace? Fast How would you describe the characters? Developed
Title: ANNA AND THE BEAR Series: Shifting Impulse #1 Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Received from: an ARC gift from Aurora Woodlove Grammar/editing: A – nearly perfect
This is the first book in the Shifting Impulse series. They do each stand alone, but I recommend reading them in the order of release.
This book has been re-released with additional content. My review has been updated based on my re-reading the new version. IMHO it has moved from a 4-star to a 5-star with no reservations on my part!
I love Anna. In the re-write, we have received her back story; she has been hurt in past relationships because she’s not a size 2 (or 4, or 6…). I can relate with her self-esteem issues that this has caused. She’s running scared, because being alone is sometimes easier than opening yourself up to the possibility of heartache.
Adam no longer seems as stalkerish, but when a bear has identified his mate, there is no stopping him and that can be misinterpreted in the beginning. He is more than his alpha-type bear, he’s also sweet, calm, and determined to convince Anna to give him a chance.
Some of the banter between Adam and Anna was laugh-out-loud funny and real. This is Aurora Woodlove’s first release and I feel extremely privileged to have been able to read it. I am looking forward to more from this series and this author!
Ok here is honestly I read this book twice ounces for the review process of book two. I will not tell you it can't be read apart because it can they are great read together but they are their own individual stories. I hate when readers say it was ok but it didn't flow or unravel to quickly or its just ok. Well I was not given this book for a review but here's an HONEST REVIEW. The story was great it gives you a heart to heart series of events of a woman's heart and what a man who will not just give in to pressure but follow his heart. Well actually he follows his bear.. Anna is a beautiful woman who has had a bad run of luck when it comes to men. They see her and her curves and think her they are doing her a favor but she is sooo much more if they took the time to really see her. But Adam does he sees her for the goddess she is and will do anything in his power to show her how much he adores her. Funny thing is he can't seem to keep his hands off her and boy will he fail at stopping himself she is his mate. Her body wants him now he has to get everything else to agree too. He is a bear and will have to tell her if he wants forever but will she run or accept that he is her future. He is Love....TRUE LOVE..will they finally find forever.. Read and find out..
Title: Anna and the Bear Series: Shifting Impulse Destination: Book 1, 119 Pages, StandAlone Author: Aurora Woodlove Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PRN#BearShifters My Score: #5Stars☆☆☆☆☆ •°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡ Wow this whole book was intense, I just couldn't put it down. Ms. Aurora showed us what happens to a stubborn, angry, prideful women who finally let's go. An a man who stands beside her no matter what. Oh yes I definitely recommend this book. Anna Morison is a thirty-one year old attorney that's a workaholic. After tons of disappointment Anna put all her energy she has into being a fantastic lawyer, and she was. Having to let off some steam she went to her favorite place Shifting Impulse. Little did she know that her life would change this very night. Twin Brother's Ryan Ford and Adam Ford both are workaholics, they have ten restaurants that were called European Mix. Adam is the financial manager for three, numbers was his life in fact all the restaurants were all number. (for instance European Mix #1). They had always been he knew them, plus mistakes were so easy to see, so he does a lot of traveling . But he always went home to his apartment in North Bloom Lake. I was gifted this book for an honest and truthful review.
I loved this story, there is so depth and insight.
Anna has had such bad relationships in the past that she has shut herself off from them altogether and thrown herself into her work completely. That's why when she feels such a strong attraction to a complete stranger who's face she hasn't even seen, she has a panic attack. She refuses to see, or listen to any logic, she refuses to be in any kind of relationship and be left to hurt again. She is so dead set against a relationship, that she may be pushing away the only true chance at love.
Adam is a bear shifter, he has never believed that he would have a chance of ever finding his true mate. He has been having the same recurring nightmare for years, blue eyes that stare at him and he has no idea how to get rid of them. On a night out with his twin, he is drawn to the dance floor room of the club and when a dancing queen turns around and he sees her, he sees his mysterious dream eyes. He doesn't know why, but he becomes her stalker and has to find a way to break down the the brick wall his mate has created around herself while trying to keep his always silent bear from bursting through and making matters worse.
Who will be the winner in this tug of love? Very suspenseful and challenging love story.

This is the first book in the Shifting Impulse series. They do each stand alone, but I recommend reading them in the order of release.
I love Anna. Though we don’t receive a lot of her back story, it’s not hard to deduce that she has been hurt in past relationships because she’s not a size 2 (or 4, or 6…). I can relate with her self-esteem issues that this has caused. She’s running scared, because being alone is sometimes easier than opening yourself up to the possibility of heartache.

A GREAT TRIP TO HEA, ENJOY THIS ONE I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW...... OVER 18+ READING Adam Ford(he handles the financial records for their 10 restaurants in different cities),his twin Ryan and their father are all workaholics and work together in their restaurants but he is the fixer when there are problems. After a hard week in two cities he is glad to get home and looking for to his and Ryan's Friday night (they only take off work 2 Fridays a month)at Shifting Impulse , a nice club to relax even though both have given up on finding mates. Anna Morison(31,young workaholic attorney) thinks she is done with men and just happy making a life of her own, though this week end her 4 friends can make it to their night out (three have dates and one has no sitter) ends up going to Shifting Impulse alone. Adam spots her here and knows even though he gave up looking years ago, he has found his mate.Their trip to HEA is enjoyable to read, He is ready to take his mate right now but she fights it and doesn't seem to trust him. Can he win her heart? Will she except him?
This is a hard review to do, while I thought the story was a good one it lacked something and I'm just not sure what that was. I didn't feel a connection or any chemistry between Anna and Adam at all. I liked Adam but Anna was very annoying at times. This is the first book in the series and I do plan on give the other books a read I really hope that I connect more with the next couple because Anna and Adam left a lot to be desired.
**I received a free review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.** I also purchased this book from Amazon
It is a good story about a shifter and the woman who fate has in store for him. Adam knows Anna is the one for him and is finally ready to make that move. Anna has been hurt a lot in the past and is not interested in pursuing more pain. She feels the amazing connection too but tries everything she can to push him away.
I really liked Adam. He knows how to be patient and work around Anna's issues. They have an interesting past between that you learn about and it does make you wonder what would have happened if it has went differently back then. Anna is a mess with lots of control issues and I wonder more about her childhood and how some of them might have developed. I would have liked to know a little more about both of their pasts. The book focuses on this intense meeting at the club and the period immediately after so the story takes place over a short timeline.
Adam has a twin and I look forward to reading his story.
This fun short read, perfect for the beach or anytime, was the first book I've ever read by this new author, but it won't be the last! What a wonderful start in my favorite PNR contemporary fiction genre, with obvious potential for future 5 star works, IMHO :) Personally, I wasn't in love with the heroine Anna, or many of her personality traits, but I did warm up to her towards the HEA... For me, the beginning was a bit strange with the way she & Adam met, but it didn't take long for the witty dialogue and different story-line to come together before I was reeled in & turning pages like crazy :) But hey, a great job on a first release! Oh, and did I mention this novella has smoking hot sexy scenes? I really enjoyed this quirky & entertaining stand-alone must read, and highly recommend it to all paranormal fans, especially those who love shifters like me! ... I can't wait to read book #2, "Celine" and I already own that, too!
This was a good start to a bear shifter series. We meet Anna that has been disappointed in the past by men so bad by their lies and cheating. So what is a woman to do when she meets the hulk of a man Adam and cannot keep her mind off of things she wants to do with him. Adam knows when he sees Anna of the club that she is the one, his mate. Adam show a lot of patience when his mate keeps him at arm length. Can they both get past the hurt from their past to make their mating work? I'm looking forward to Ryan and Celine's story. This was a wonderful short story that recommend to read.

A new author for me to read & a thoroughly enjoyable book. The only angst was their nightmares, so a pleasure to read. Anna could be any fuller figured woman with doubts but she falls quickly for the stranger in the nightclub & the way he cares. Her past has her focused solely on work. Refusing to believe a guy would ever love her. We have Adam, a hot sexy Bear shifter who recognised her as his mate, once again. :) You have to read this to understand just how. But he's persistent in his way of wooing her & slowly works his way into her heart & soul. Anna still has moments of doubt but I loved their banter & Adams persistence with her. Andrea's little man was also funny, a typical lad with so many questions. :) A great read & as always when gifted a book, my open & honest review, having enjoyed on my Sunday afternoon here in NZ. :)
