Tieren is a small but beautiful omega, living in a post-apocalyptic world of erratic weather and desert. He is terrified of the trial where he will stand before the Alphas, receive his surname, and learn his place in the world. Much to his surprise, after his trial he is chosen by Lord Manteo Challenger, the leader of their people and the most powerful Alpha, to be his Mate. A fragile omega, Tieren is overwhelmed by Manteo’s brute strength and seemingly gruff manner. Manteo, for his part, worries that he will accidentally hurt Tieren, who is the smallest omega he’s ever coupled with or even seen.

I enjoyed this A/B/O story quite a bit. The writing quality was damn impressive and the post-apocalyptic world-building was rich and atmospheric, especially considering the whole story is only 32 pages in length.
Preston Walker is a new author to me, but I can assure you, this will not be the last I read of him.
This one was just weird. The Alpha/omega dynamic just did not work for me.
All and I do me ALL Alpha/omega novels the omega is cherished not hurt doing sex. The "coupling" if you can call it that, was pure animalistic. Multiple omegas after you find "The One" that didn't sit right with me.
The world that Mr. Walker presented to us reminded me of something prehistoric than post apocalyptic.
I was so impressed with the descriptions of the people and the way the world was to them and the hardships they endured. All men for so many years, Alpha, betas and omegas, all with their place and all doing what they had to survive. Such an amazing story of love and mates, and the life of Tieren an omega, frail from a sickness, afraid if his life was worth anything at all. Lord Monteo, biggest and strongest alpha and the man in charge, and now Tieren is his. Not just his, but his mate. Their struggles are many, not just as mates but how to lead their starving dying people to a better life. Looking for their HEA for themselves and their people.
Poor world building - the story left me with more questions about the world these characters inhabit than it should. The head hopping is almost every other paragraph. There is not an ounce of showing in the entire story, it's all telling. The first thing a writer learns is "show don't tell", well this author gets an F in that class.
At first I thought this book was going to be a bit slow, but it caught my eye and I couldn't put it down! I received this book for an honest review! I sure hope that there's a lot more to their story!
This book was well written. Anyone who loves to read about shifters and omegas will love it. If you enjoy intense situations this book has that as well.
This omega was the alpha's favorite in his harem. There were sex scenes with multiple omegas. The Alpha never tried to prevent pain every single time he had sex with the Omega. There was no foreplay, just forceful fucking. But the Omega never stretched himself out either. The title refers to the incurable illness the Omega has, but it also refers to the sex scenes too. The romantic relationship was so simplistic it was non existent.
Loved the book and characters and world that they exist in. The tenderness of the relationship between alpha and omega is done well as is the protection both ways
