Robyn received a book from her big sister and immediately fell in love with Cinderella. Sprinklings of magic, deepest wishes come true - she was hooked! Picture books with glass slippers later gave way to romance novels. When she was older, she wanted to write one.
However, in junior high, Robyn hit a stumbling block - a disheartening grade of one out of ten for a book review. Confused and hurt, she asked her hundred-and-thirty-year-old English teacher why the low mark? The wizened schoolmarm sniffed, "You obviously had a senior do it for you." Thankfully Robyn's business teacher was a honey.
Following a fifteen-year career behind the scenes in television, Robyn knew the time was right to pursue her dream of becoming a published author. Late in 2004, she received a phone call from a London editor. She'd submitted a manuscript to the Sweet line, which were featuring lighter, sexier stories to be released under the Tango banner. The editor was very interested in her story, but for a brand new line.
Robyn didn't stop smiling for a week, but sometime later learned her revised manuscript hadn't hit the mark. Then she received another call and another request for revisions to a second manuscript! That didn't sell either. On a third manuscript she received a very long, very detail email, asking for, what would turn out to be, a complete rewrite. Having torn out most of her hair, but with 13 contest finals in 2006 (including winning the Golden Pen and Where the Magic Begins), she finished the rewrite then contacted a New York agent. That wonderful agent took her on, and Robyn sold in a matter of weeks, first to Silhouette Desire, then Modern Heat (Sexy Sensation/Presents) with a two book deal! She is currently writing manuscript number fourteen.
Robyn lives with her own modern-day hero on Australia's Sunshine Coast with their three little princesses, as well as two poodles and a cat called Tinkie. She has majors in English literature and psychology, and loves new shoes, worn jeans, visits to the theatre and lunches at picturesque Moffat Beach with her writer friends.
It was a struggle to finish this book. It s a very traditional MOC story, but the dead brother's child is one of my least favorite themes. I couldn't connect with h & especially H who appeared cold & too manipulative for me. Armand wants to marry Tamara, who carries his late brother's baby, in order to gain complete control of his late father's company. He uses tamara s bad circumstances against her to persuade her to marry him, and when she fell in love with him, he seems incapable of returning her love. He is too damaged by his childhood and his transformation at the end wasn't convincing.
The plot was not believable, but the story was good. I was hoping I would feel a connection to the hero or heroine, but I didn't feel the emotion behind what was going on in the story. Tammy just lost her best friend, and her unborn baby's father. At the funeral Mark's brother asked her to marry him. He wanted to take care of his nephew, and he needed a heir in 7 months to keep his company. Marriage was a win win for both. She only wanted to marry for love, but just lost he home, her business, and was in financial ruin. She wanted what was best for the baby. So she married. They had chemistry from the start. It was a sweet romance, that felt a little rushed.
Very good read.sometimes we have to learn to make our own families with the cards life deals us.this is the type where lives beats nasty childhoods and lack of love.
Did not like it, don't really like stories in which heroine is pregnant by heroes brother (just hate the idea of heroine sleeping with 2 brothers in a short few months time). P.
Ms. Grady's debut with Desire is one filled with emotional impact. It's more than three strikes for Tamara ... loss of her livelihood, her home burned to ashes, her lover and bestfriend tragically killed, and she's pregnant. At Marc's funeral she's approached by his brother who has a proposition for her that will solve her problems and his as well, as he needs an heir and a wife. Tamara's strong attraction to Armand makes his proposition hard to resist. Armand has some serious scars from his childhood and a disasterous love affair. He's doesn't believe in the love fairytale, and Tamara is determined to make him believe. This is a wonderful first for Ms. Grady
This felt like a fairly standard Mills & Boon novel so I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it was groundbreaking in any way. I really liked Tamara as a character, but it felt like you could see the 'evil business partner' angle coming from a mile away. A nice book to read during my breaks today. 3 stars.
Just could not connect with this story. The dead brother's child theme, did not work for me. It did improve a bit midway, but not enough to redeem the story.
