Brittney Sahin began writing at an early age, with the dream to be a published author before the age of 18. Although academic pursuits (and, later, a teaching career) interrupted her aspirations, she never stopped writing—never stopped imagining.
It wasn’t until her students encouraged her to follow her dreams that Brittney said goodbye to Upstate New York in order to start a new adventure in the place she was raised: Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, she decided to take her students’ advice and begin to write again.
In 2015, she published her first novel, The Safe Bet. When she is not working on upcoming novels, she spends time with her family. She is a proud mother of two boys and a lover of suspense novels, coffee, and the outdoors.
Oh my goodness, Brittney Sahin has done it again. Forever Rome is an incredible contemporary romance that will keep you turning the pages and crossing your fingers for an HEA. Told in first person POV, Forever Rome follows Maggie, a football fan and sports journalist assigned to cover a soccer star's story. Marco isn't just a soccer star though, the Italian has kept his personal life private and very few know who he is off the field. Sparks fly between Maggie and Marco though, leading them both to bend their rules and share their secrets.
He wrapped his arm around me, holding me tight. And it made me feel...secure. A feeling to which I knew I shouldn't grow accustomed.
Maggie was such a fun character to read from, her personality shined through out the novel and she had some seriously witty dialogue. I loved how relatable she was as a character, though her career is a bit more glamorous than mine. She felt like a 26 year old and that's normally part of romance novels I have issues with, because they act too old or young for their age. Marco, on the other hand, is totally swoon-worthy and over the top. Just the way I like my book boyfriends. For being a secondary character he had a lot of layers that really built upon the story, giving readers the chance to enjoy his individual story just as much as the budding romance between he and Maggie. Then there's the setting, I felt like I was in Rome alongside the characters, experiencing the amazing sites and the short flings. Every location and character in Forever Rome thickens the plot, making the story so much more than just a contemporary romance. There's drama and deceit, lust and love, and even some regrets as the story builds from Marco and Maggie's first meeting to the very last page.
Marco was my red. And all of Rome was now painted his shade.
Forever Rome is Brittney Sahin's first contemporary romance release, but definitely won't be her last as it's only book one in the Forever Series. I really enjoy everything Brittney releases, but Forever Rome just might be my new favorite and you know I put Marco on my book boyfriend list.
Forever Rome was a wonderful romance with charming, kind, and lovable characters. Maggie is the sports reporter from my own home state of Alabama and it was perfect for her to have a love of football. She was cute, realistic and a heck of a lady. I enjoyed her humor, her heart, and her honesty.
Marco, I can't explain how much I adored Marco. He was the perfect Italian football player, with integrity, personal demons and a heart that I couldn't help fall in love with.
These two and their amazing friends and co-workers made just a fun and exciting story. There was plenty of heat without it being too graphic. I found it to be just the perfect blend of heat. I aam reading another book by Ms. Shain and I am enjoying getting to know her rich characters. I love her writing style. It is not all miscommunication and bitterness. I really enjoyed this book. I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
It isn't working for me. Too much back and forth. Lack of communication on one side and 'yes but no' on the other. It isn't moving forward fast enough for me. I'm not sure why they are attracted to each other other than the obvious good looks.
Having read and adored Brittney Sahin's Hidden Truths series, I could not wait to dive into Forever Rome.
Forever Rome is such a romantic, loveable, wonderful, sweet book. Maggie, a sports reporter, was realistically cute. Her honesty and humour just made everything that much more perfect. Seriously, she is the type of character I would want to be friends with.
Maggie is sent to Rome to write a piece on Marco, an Italian football (a.k.a. soccer) player. The closer she gets to Marco, the more torn she gets between wanting to respect Marco's privacy but also needing to complete the article for her job. Between walking and dining in Italy to falling for one of the biggest football players in Italy, Sahin has managed to weave such a delightfully intricate novel.
For this being Brittney Sahin's first contemporary novel, I have to say she pretty much nailed it. The chemistry between Marco and Maggie, the interactions they had with one another, and the heat that seemed to be radiating from them both was amazing. Brittney Sahin's writing draws you in and captivates you from beginning to end.
I recommend you buy Forever Rome today, that's right, this very instant. It is just that sweet, romance, and freaking hilarious. It is everything you would want in a contemporary romance novel. Seriously, buy it right now.
I was provided an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. Having become a fan of Brittney Sahin's Hidden Truth series, I couldn't wait for Brittney to take me away to another fictional world in Rome where the accent can make any woman combust and the athletes are out of this world! For being Brittney Sahin's first contemporary, she rocked it and kept me riveted to every “Merda” that was uttered from Marco's mouth to every twist and turn of their story! Marco and Maggie keep the game of cat and mouse heated, complicated and had me hanging on to see the final score!
Maggie Lane is a sports columnist for Men's Health and Sports Magazine who is completely obsessed with American football and has been chasing after her ever elusive dream of writing about the Super Bowl. As much as she loves the game, she never trust the players, no matter how hot they are or what smooth talk comes out of their mouths. That is until her editor dangles promises of writing future articles about Super Bowl in front of her and has her on her way to cover a story on a sexy athlete playing an entirely different type of football. She finds herself completely out of her element with the sport and the delicious man in front of her. Can she keep to her number one rule and resist the player or will she become a rule breaker? I immediately liked this contemplative, down to earth, intellectual heroine who wears both her mistrust and her heart on her sleeve. I loved seeing Marco tear down all the walls she had built around her heart and show her that not all athletes are players off the field.
Marco Valenti is tall, dark, and mysterious with his surprising announcement of not playing this season and his reluctance to tell anyone why. When the blonde, tenacious, journalist Maggie starts asking uncomfortable questions and is getting under his skin in more ways than one, he fights even harder to keep his secrets. Marco had me spellbound with his beautiful Italian language, sculpted muscles, and his dirty moves. He had me wanting to relocate to Rome in hopes of finding my own intense, delectable piece of man candy. A woman can dream can't she?
Brittney Sahin scores big with her debut contemporary novel and takes her readers to the ruins of Rome and gives us a love that spans the ocean and goes the distance. I highly recommend Forever Rome for a romance that brings the heat, is rich in history, and leaves you salivating and sighing over foreign athletes and dreaming of finding romance while traveling over seas.

Forever Rome is a virtual Italian vacation! It’s a loads of fun, super witty, feel-good romance that will leave a huge smile on your face. You might even start watching soccer (excuse me, football), and stalking a player or two. Brittney Sahin not only has a delightful storytelling voice, her writing quickly pulls you into this charming romance and holds on tight.
Maggie is one of those all around fantastic characters you’d love to be friends with. She’s awesome; hilarious, lots of fun, not afraid to laugh at herself. Being a female in the mostly male world of sports journalism, she’s had to put up with a lot of shite. And she’s done it professionally and gracefully, refusing to compromise her morals. Being sent to Rome to write a special piece on soccer, oops... football, star Marco Valenti is a bit unusual since she mostly writes about American football but, hey. It’s a trip to Italy, right? Until she learns there’s a catch. However, once she gets to know this yummy Italian athlete who can charm the gelato right out of your hands, she’s torn. Should she write an article that will put her name on everyone’s lips, or drop it for the sake of Marco’s privacy?
Ms. Sahin does a spot on job of taking you along on Maggie’s journey. From walking among centuries-old ruins and eating in tiny bistros to zooming around the city in Marco’s Lamborghini. From sticking to her no-dating-athletes rule to falling hard for the biggest soccer star in Italy. Forever Rome is so damn good! It has everything you’d want in a contemporary romance. Loveable heroine, sensitive and hunky hero with a sexy accent, sizzling chemistry. A puzzle to solve, great secondary characters, trust issues to overcome and, did I mention sizzling chemistry? Do yourself a favor and take a trip to Rome with Maggie and Marco!
Another romance that I hoped to fill my European summer romance box, special bonus of sporty storyline!!! I enjoyed this one in the first half a lot more than I did the second half. I liked the set up of the journalist and soccer player and I really did love the European setting!! I was often tempted to skim in the second part of the book as it did feel very insta and hit some dramatic patches that didn't quite flesh out that great for me. The ending did have a bit of a mystery thriller element that kept it interesting though! 3.5 stars
4.5 Stars! "Forever Rome" by author Brittney Sahin. **I received a copy of this novel by the author in exchange for an honest review**
This was a beautiful, romantic novel set in the beautiful city of Rome. Very well written in all aspects. By the end of this story I was smiling in satisfaction and relief; so happy our H/h got their HEA. I also enjoyed the fact that our couple, Marco and Maggie, wanted to be together but both had conflicts that made for an entertaining, angsty and complex story. All good...
Maggie Lane is a writer for a big name men's health and sports magazine. Maggie loves her job despite the fact she feels she has to work harder for respect and recognition given that sport's reporting is typically a "man's" job. Maggie is being sent to Rome to cover a story involving a famous Italian soccer player, Marco Valenti. She is less than thrilled with having to cover soccer when she is a die hard football fan. Maggie knows little to nothing about soccer or the athlete she is to write about and doesn't understand why she has to do it. Her boss is well aware of this fact and yet he is sending her instead of one of the other reporters who is experienced with writing about the sport. Why is that? Hmm....
Marco Valenti...tall, dark, handsome. A famous soccer player for Rome, a top player and the captain of his team. Not only is Marco a talented player, he loves the game. So why then is he retiring while in his prime? If this is what he wants, why is he so torn over it? I spent a lot of this book trying to uncover Marco's secret.
Before Marco even announces his retirement, he meets Maggie one evening in the hotel bar. Neither know who the other is. Both keeping their conversation casual but somewhat evasive.
They share a brief, but intense goodnight kiss.
What follows is a romantic drama with conflict and a complex storyline. It's so easy to see these two are meant for each other. Yet, they both need to keep the relationship professional for good reasons. Maggie was a great heroine. She stayed true to her beliefs of wrong and right. She did not let herself be pushed into anything unethical. Her conscience and instincts kept her grounded. I completely respected and admired her.
I have to admit that although I was irrevocably in love with Marco by the end of the book, it took some time for me to get there. He had secrets. He was aloof at times. Marco frustrated me with some of his responses and actions. I believe had this novel had his POV as well, I would have connected with his character much sooner. I would have loved to know what he was thinking.
I just want to add that I personally enjoy books more when I have both H/h POVs. But that is only my preference and the fact that this novel only had Maggie's POV did not in any way effect my rating in a negative way. I enjoyed the writing style and the pace of the story was steady. I will definitely read more from this author.
That being said, this was a beautiful story, set in the romantic city of Rome and I'm glad I got to read it.
I loved Maggie and Marco! Brittney has done it again. I love her alpha males, they are everything you could want in a man. Marco is this macho athlete that breaks the stereotypical male in that role. He's hot, strong and yet vulnerable. He's dedicated to his profession until it comes to his family and children. You can't help but fall in love with him as you read about his life. Maggie is a sports writer with walls up about ever dating an athlete. Marco slowly breaks down her barriers. The more she learns about him, the more she falls for him and she no longer wants to do a story on him, at least not how she was hired to do. Maggie is funny with her one-liners and her thoughts. Both of these characters were very will written and I highly recommend this book, like all of Brittney Sahin's books.
I loved this book! I almost didn't read it because it had to do with spots, and I DO NOT like sports. I am usually a really slow ready, but I couldn't not put this book down. to the point that I was reading it under the covers like a child up past their bedtime. I felt like I was on my own vacation in Italy as I read and the dance Maggie and Marco play was just too fun. Light and easy to ready while keeping the reader entertained the entire way. I fell in love with Maggie and Marco right from the start!
I absolutely loved Forever Rome. Maggie and Marco will take you through their ups and downs as they both deal with betrayal and pain from their past, but as the reader, the chase is half the fun! I cheered for them and laughed out loud as they danced around their feelings and finally—well, read the book.
Brittney Sahin once again delivers a fun read with great characters. I read this book in a day, and I'm super excited to meet Alexa.
Excellent story. Really enjoyed the series . Excellent series. Can't wait for more from this author .highly recommended. I hope the author will be including more books in the series
It's only been a mere two days since finishing this thing and I already don't remember too much about it. I recall that it was a fast and easy read. I also know that it wasn't necessarily boring, but it also wasn't mind-blowing either. This is a story you read if you want a simple, contemporary romance to fill a few hours in your day before moving on with your life. Seeing as how there is only a female POV with no male counterpart, this is very much a woman's story. Not that a story can't be good with only one point of view, but...sometimes (as is the case with this one), it makes things feel very unbalanced when I don't know what's going in the other person's head in a love story involving two people.
If there's one thing I DEFINITELY remember, it's how unlikable the heroine was (at least in my eyes). Maggie was just one of those types of women I don't care for in romances, the self-proclaimed "modern woman" who doesn't need a man yet loves said man behaves like one (like protectiveness). She's a woman who gets feisty when men objectify her but is perfectly fine when she does the same. Maggie fixates rather obsessivelyon Marco's looks, all lust, lust, lust (which she readily admits), and for me, that type of foundation for a love story is the least appealing one. The objectification got real old real fast, and it pretty much distracted me from believing an actual love story was happening.
At any rate, I just didn't care much for this story as much as I wanted to and don't have the energy to speak too much about it. It's just a simple romance to me. Some cute moments, some sweet, some nauseating, some bland. There's no big angst to really make things pop, not much dramatic flair, and it just made it rather meh for me. Moving on.
** ARC provided in exchange for an honest review. **
This is really a 4.5 star rating and one of my favorite releases by this author! With the first person POV I felt as if the action was happening to me. The sexual tension, yearning, and want between the two leads leapt off the page. Without issuing a spoiler I'll say the story of the leather bracelet tore at my heart. And I loved every moment of it.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I don't know where to start with this book. I thought I knew why he was retiring but I was wrong. Then as I read more I came up with another theory. Oh I was so wrong! This book had me on the edge of my couch, since that was where I was reading it most of the time. I took this book with me everywhere. I loved the whole book and cried tears of happiness at the end. I didn't see any of this coming when I signed up to read this book! Best book I have read in ages!!!
I absolutely loved Forever Rome. Maggie and Marco will take you through their ups and downs as they both deal with betrayal and pain from their past, but as the reader, the chase is half the fun! Brittney Sahin once again delivers a fun read with great characters. I read this book in a day, and I'm super excited to meet Alexa.
I received an ARC for an honest review. I love Brittney’s work, and this one was no different. This is the story of Maggie who is a sports fan and journalist, who is sent to cover Marco an Italian soccer star. This story is humorous, intriguing, and captivating. As always I cannot recommend this authors work enough, and I cannot wait to read more from her.
I love all of Brittney’s books. Each one is unique but they all have small character rolls from other books as well. I have read every book she has to date now.
❤️📖 This is a standalone book, but you can meet here some characters from other stories ( Alexa, McGregor) 📖❤️
This book is a little different from other books by Brittney Sahin, only because there is no maffia and military men, but you can be sure, the story has a high standard as all her other books.
And if the plot- journalist and football player falling in love in Roma may be a little cliche on the first sight, be sure that this story is so much much more.
Marco is very intensive character, he is a famous football player but sametimes only few people know about him, for others he is a big mistery. And after ending/interrupting his successful carier everyone wants to know WHY? Only Maggie is maybe the only one not to care who he is and what he´s doing. Only till the time she realise he is the sexy Italian from the night before and now she has to make him trust her enough to open up and let her write a story about Marco Valenti, something no one was able to write, until Meggie.
Oh my the tension between these two, and the fight inside, since Maggie has rule to not date an athlete and Marco has a rule not to date any woman for long time. But the passion and chemistry make both to broke the rules and they stand before the decision, if they both are able to trust again and make the new rule- to not make rules anymore.
I was so heartbroken for Marco and I am glad Brittney Sahin decidesd to chance the ussual cliche about male athlets, and showed us, that it actually doesn´t matter if you are famous or not, sure money can change you, but some people know what money can´t buy- family and healt, and so are grateful for whatever they still have and are ready to sacrifice everything.
I really loved this story and recommend to read. The side characters were great too ( I loved Will)
And I can say that what ever Brittney Sahin writes, military, maffia, or just a simple lovestory of two people, it will be always worth to read.
4.5 ⭐️ Oh my goodness, what a cute love story! ❤️ I feel I should be in Rome right now! Bucket list!
In this cute story, we follow Maggie and Marco. Maggie is a well-known writer for a sports magazine in New York, and her boss has shipped her off to Italy to cover football (soccer) and their star player Marco Valenti. Who is, by all accounts, a handsome, smexy Italian. 🥵 But all is not as it seems as Maggie finds out her is retiring, and she has been placed there to find out the why and try to talk him back into the game.
There are so many cute moments in this book, almost dream like and something every girl at heart would love to experience! Marco is a dream come true, and Maggie is a hott mess of rules and mixed feelings towards him. But so is Marco as he is hiding something and not so forth coming to her. But don't worry, we learn his secrets, and then we swoon even more!
The reason I didn't give this a full 5 stars is because Maggie drove me batty...I understand her walls and rules to dating or falling for pro athletes, I mean she sees their lives up front and center. But good, golly girl! Let it go and stop denying the connection. I also got the vibe she was almost teenager like in her reactions and feelings towards Marco. In the very beginning, when they first met, she was all hot and bothered and clenching and warm....you get the picture. I get that Marco is yummy, but that kind of reaction to a man within the first 5 minutes of meeting him, not believable. We can swoon and get little butterflies and be excited, but....not the other stuff. (Or maybe that's just me).
I liked how the story spaced everything out. From the secrets Marco was hiding, the weird clepto lady and then the little revenge plot mixed in. It was fun and thrilling and kept me hooked! Soooo cute!
I would recommend this book as a quick pallet cleanser. It is very vanilla and soft and will have you smiling. 😊 the characters are cute, and the ending is happily ever after. 💕
Clear your schedule...once you start, YOU WONT STOP!!!! I am NOT a sports person. (Except UFC) I almost didn't want to read this book because i found out it was about soccer (or Football, if your in Europe) but i absolutely love the way the author writes, so i decided to give it a try. I was NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! This book was absolutely fantastic!!! I know i will read it again!!! The way Brittany writes the scenes makes you feel like you are in Italy right along with them! The characters are great! Maggie is hard working, professional and has her own set of code she goes by...until she meets Marco. Marco is a spicy, hot, Italian athlete who makes you swoon with his sexy accent and makes you think twice about the stereotypes that follow professional athletes! One thing I am continued to be blown away by is Mrs. Sahin's writing. The way she writes body language is like no way that i have ever read before. I swear, she can describe something so well it gives me goosebumps!! ( I am an avid reader, that does not happen very often) and yet with every book of Brittney Sahin's I have read i felt this way! The romantic scenes are written so that they are emotionally intense as well as steamy hot! (almost needed pot holders to hold on the sides of my Kindle) ;) Keep a good grip on your Kindle because i almost dropped mine!!! lol This is the sixth book i have read by this author in 2 weeks! I CANT WAIT to see what she comes out with next!!!
I read this book as “The Story of Us”, but Forever Rome makes a lot of sense, since it is primarily set in Rome.
There is quite a bit of electricity between Marcos & Maggie, right from the start. He is a drop-dead gorgeous, suddenly retiring European football star who gives no explanation for retiring (he is still very much in his prime). Maggie is a beautiful & talented sports writer worth a cardinal rule about never dating athletes assigned to write his story. But they meet as strangers in a bar by accident without knowing who the other really is and have an immediate connection.
Maggie knows nothing about soccer, preferring American football. She doesn’t know who this super attractive Italian guy is. Marcos is a very private superstar who has no interest in telling his story to anyone. When they are officially introduced after their initial encounter, they both try to fight the pull.
But as the story develops, we realize there is something going on in his life that hits at him very deeply. And Maggie wants to get to the bottom of it.
The scenes around Rome are lovely & fun to revisit. The attraction between Marcos & Maggie is super hot, but also seems to run deep.
Maggie is heading to Rome to write a story about European football, which she knows absolutely nothing about. She isn't sure why she was selected to write this story, but once she gets to Rome and her boss finally tells her the truth, it doesn't sit well with her.
Maggie and Marco have a meet cute in the bar of the hotel. Neither of them knows who the other is, they are both a bit vague on what they actually do for work. When Marco walks Maggie to her room, the two share a heated kiss and go their separate ways. Not knowing they would meet again real soon.
Marco Valenti is captain of his team, but he just announced that he wouldn't be playing this year. A huge shock to everyone!! Marco never allows the press to write articles about him. There is something about Maggie though, he allows her to interview him, but he only agrees to discuss football.
Marco and Maggie spend time together for the story, but as the time goes by Marco begins to open up to Maggie (off the books). The two grow very close, but there are so many secrets when it comes to Marco, and Maggie tries to follow her own rule of not dating athletes.
So much comes to light throughout their weeks together, and they both truly bring out the best in one another!!
Maggie is an American sports writer who lives and breaths American football. Marco is an Italian soccer (football) star. She's not happy she's being forced to write a fluff piece on someone she doesn't know in a sport she cares nothing for. Her first night in Rome is spent with a mysterious Italian she shares a passionate kiss with, only to find out the next day it's none other than Rome's darling, Marco. She confronts him about not being forthcoming, but the feeling is mutual. When asked to go home after he announces his retirement, she's told "no"... that there's more to his story than just a retirement "too early in his career". She's now tasked to gain his trust and get him to stay in Rome, but the more she gets to know this mysteriously private guy, the more she realizes she is falling for him. I love the storyline and it's not one of those contemporary romances 'been there, done that"... she gives it a new look and I had a difficult time putting it down! I really enjoyed getting to know Maggie and Marco.
FYI... nice cameo (and introduction) to Adam McGregor, which is the main man in the Dublin Nights series.
4.5 for me. Good story and I love all things Italian, Well edited - nothing glaring to cause a hiccup in the flow of the story.
Maggie writes sports for a men's magazine. She is assigned a story about Marco - a soccer superstar. She has rules, most notably no dating athletes. Marco is very reserved, sharing next to nothing about his personal life. How can Maggie write an article about a man who won't answer questions? And how exactly is she supposed to change his mind about retiring when she doesn't even like soccer? Maggie meets Marco before she knows he is Marco, and sparks fly. So much so, she kisses him in the heat of the moment. Surprise for both of them when they see each other at a press conference the next day. From there, they embark on a tug-of-war between their brains and their hearts. Which will come out the winner?
Both characters are really likable. Marco keeps everything close to the vest, but he has depth of character that is quite touching. Really light, enjoyable read.
I don't usually read sports romances but because I love everything Brittney writes, of course I was going to read this. This did not have the usual suspence like most of Brittney's books but, that didn't matter it did not disappoint and I loved this love story! I loved that it took place in Rome and it really made me wish I could drop everything in my life and fly somewhere and meet my Marco! Though Maggie and Marco's relationship was put to the test multiple times, it made it feel realistic. I loved the other couples in the story as well and was rooting for everyone to find their happy ending. Though football was an important aspect for the characters; Marco being a player and Maggie being a sports journalist. I didn't feel like I was reading so much about the sport that it was overkill, which is what I always worry about with sports romances and why I don't normally read them! I also loved the guest appearances from other Brittney books. Another Brittney book to put in the reread pile!
