A post cold war thriller, sort of a spy thriller, sort of a detective story, almost a Tom Clancy style thriller. Paints a vision of Russia post USSR breakup where the Russian Mafia and the ex-security services vie for control.

I enjoyed reading it, although what is effectively a short story in the final chapter is more interesting and I found to be a more interesting story than the proceeding hundreds of pages!

Sadly i did not finish this book. I read a good chunk and enjoyed the character descriptions then after a few pages it was another character kr they were killed. Found it hard going and decided to stop , not something i do lightly but this book was maybe the wrong time for me to read it

I started to read this book and just couldn't get into it. There were too many characters to keep track of and the plot line kept going back and forth. I guess it was just not my type of book.
