With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.

"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."

The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.

Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.

A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.

In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.

When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.

In “A Love Beyond Words” by Rachel Ryan, the reader is transported into an affectionate and magical world of love. Against the scenic background of a small town, this is a story about two people who fell in love where they least expected. In her writing, Ryan effectively uses eloquent language that paints vivid scenes through which readers can completely indulge in the story. She creates characters that are beautifully developed with their own peculiarities and frailties which make them seem real and lovable to us. While this romance is growing between the main characters from tender touches to painful splits, it causes them rollercoaster of emotions. “A Love Beyond Words” is an enjoyable piece that uplifts suggesting how love may change everything.

I enjoyed both these romances, written by 2 of my favorite authors - Sherryl Woods and RaeAnne Thayne. The characters, in both stories, were real and people I would admire and enjoy as friends.

Both books involve first responders, a doctor and a police chief in Sherryl Woods book and a fireman and a deaf teacher in RaeAnne's. Both sets of characters have been loners who have no expectation of falling in love. Both have women who have had traumatic events that shaped their futures. Moving stories that contain admirable people who believe in doing the right thing no matter the personal cost.

Just too simple - nothing overly engaging but passed the time listening to the audiobook while doing things. I'm also not a huge fan of self made problems - if remembering properly she lost her hearing to a case of the mumps (while has a vaccination for); and having grown up on the Gulf Coast, you know when hurricanes are on their way unlike tornadoes or earthquakes so you can evacuate to avoid such issues as occurred here. Esp with Allie new to the area, she should have evacuated and then wouldn't have been trapped when her house collapsed on top of her.

Rescued by Ricky after an earthquake shatters her life and home, Allow is at crossroads. Her p parents are far away and she has no friends to care for her having lost her hearing during childhood. Quite out of character Ricky asks her to move in.
Will love ensue despite the challenges?

The relationship escalated so quickly that it wasn't believable. I wasn't really a fan of Allie's character. She was too moody and would snap at Ricky often.
Overall, it's a simple romance book for those of you who want something quick and light to read.

Easy reading story of a young deaf woman trapped in her home after a hurricane hit. Rescued by a firefighter and he then offers her a place to stay until she recovers.

I may be biased because I’m a Sherryl Woods fan but yeah I loved this book and read it quickly. The family aspect of the book added humour. Some touchy feely parts that moved me. An easy good read.

This is a good book but just like most romance novels, the ending is predictable. Happily ever nonsense doesn't quite cut it anymore. It's OK for people not to end up married in the end...

This is good for when I want a book that wont pull me in so that I finish it quickly. But there is something about it that makes me not want to constantly be picking it up.

Allie is deaf after contracting mumps 15 years ago. She loves music and was devastated to lose her hearing but she pushes forward, teaching others sign language. The story starts in a harrowing manner as she is trapped after her house collapses in a hurricane. Fortunately, the hero, Ricky is a fireman and rescues her from the wreckage.

With no place to go and recovering from injuries (knee and leg), Ricky offers Allie a place to stay but things get tense because both of them are attracted to each other. I thought he was protective in a sweet cinnamon role hero kinda way. He has a reputation as the guy who dates women but doesn't commit, it disturbs him when he convinces Allie to stay at his home.

Coming from a big Spanish family, his sisters and mother become curious once they hear about what is going on. I liked how everyone accepted Allie into the group but wasn't surprised how fast things moved since the page count is less than 200.

For the disability rep, I liked that things were not smooth at first and Allie needed to remind Ricky to look at her so she can lip read. I thought it was surprising how she didn't mind being in the center of the whole family talking at once and being chaotic. It was new to learn about the special telephone she uses if someone calls.

The conflict between them is internal as Allie lip reads what Ricky says and then starts to withdraw. I thought that her fear of him being in a dangerous career was realistic and liked how they got through it.

Somethings felt odd to me like Ricky would say things that felt out of character for a guy eg too formal or corny. Things did move fast for them and had me skeptical about whether they had feelings for one another.

Tropes: Forced proximity, found family

Gönül Sesi - Sherryl Woods

Orjinal adı:A Love Beyond Words Goodreads puanı:5/3,68 benim puanım 5/5

It's a book like this one that makes me wonder why I haven't read more books by Sherryl Woods. Allie and Ricky are amazing characters. Allie's quiet strength leaves an impression on Ricky bringing out a protectiveness that surprises him. And it's not just Ricky that Allie impresses it's his entire family. But the risks he takes everyday scare Allie and she's afraid to give her heart. This is a wonderful lovestory. I searched Ms. Woods backlist and was rather disappointed that Ricky's sisters didn't have their own books. I would have loved to read more about the Wilder family.

This is a very typical romance but with a twist. Our hero rescuer saves a young woman after a hurricane hit Miami to discover that she is deaf. Allie Matthews is not handicapped, she just can't hear and she lives a full life teaching children sign language. Ricky Wilder is amazed and smitten by her strong will. When he discovered she had no place to go after her home was destroyed, he offered her his space room and he had never done that before. This is a cute story of strong wills pushing against the wind.

Bella historia, pero tiene faltas ortográficas leves

Me gustó.
