Book One in the Perfectly Wicked series. Edna Emily Argent Rella runs the Wicked Stepmother and her Stepsisters S&M parlor in Kingdom City, but she has a secret…she's not so terribly wicked. A dominatrix by necessity, rather than calling, she does her best to capitalize on her naughty reputation. After the smear campaign waged by her stepdaughter Cynthia, there aren't many other employment options. Frank, the Captain of the Queen's Guard, has been sent to protect Edna from the stalker threatening her life. Posing as a client, this dominant male soon realizes he's in for more trouble than he bargained for. Because Edna is a born submissive. And Frank can't resist the urge to show her what she's been missing while on the Mistress side of the fence.
Anna J. Evans started writing sexy books in her mid-twenties.
Within a year, Anna published her first books with Ellora's Cave and received her first Recommended Read. She has gone on to publish over a dozen books with Ellora's Cave, Samhain, NAL Heat, and Signet Eclipse.
These days, Anna divides her time between managing her pen names and her children (the children are generally more cooperative). She lives in the South with her husband, children, several dozen chickens, and all the stories still making their way onto the page
I am always completely intrigued by the idea of a new twist on well-known fairy tales. The fact that this particular twist threw in a decidedly sexy bent was an added bonus. In this case, Edna is the sorely maligned wicked stepmother who's been forced to use her reputation as a hard-ass because of Queen Cindy's lies about her. This isn't the life Edna wants but she has no other choice. Enter the sexy Captain of the Guard who sees right through Edna's tough persona and wants to take charge and show her a good time. And by "good time" I mean "give her lots of orgasms while she's submitting to him". Just so we're clear.
Edna's overwhelmed by Frank. Frank's instantly smitten with Edna. There's a stalker hot on Edna's trail that Frank has been tasked with protecting her from. Now, this could have been just a sex romp of the highest magnitude but, no. Edna's on the brittle edge after a year of no one believing her. It made her a sympathetic character and I liked that.
Like I said, I enjoy twists on fairy tales and this one hit the spot for me. I wasn't displeased with the length but I also wouldn't have minded it being a bit longer so we could see more of Edna and Frank getting to know one another and find their footing in a relationship where neither has to pretend to be something they're not. Fun, fast and sexy.

This was an intense, sensual twist to the ending of the Cinderella story. Edna, aka the Wicked Stepmother, has been forced into playing the Domme for men's fantasies in order to pay restitution to Cindy. Struggling to make ends meet, she meets her match when Frank walks into her parlor. Her clients want her to dominate them, but all she wants is for Frank to make her his. A stalker and a sinister plot threaten Edna, and it is up to Frank to save her, but she has trust issues. I liked the way the story was written, and the sex scenes had enough heat that even though this was a twist on a children's story, it was delightfully wicked enough for adults. I would read more from this author.
This was an interesting look at one of Grimm's Fairy Tales, blending as tiny bit of BDSM with a Wicked (but really not so much) Stepmother, a misunderstood Princess (?) and a truly nutty Prince turned King, turned kidnapper.
The erotica aspects of this story were not really erotic as much as somewhat short interludes with Edna/Emily and Frank just seemed to think/talk the encounters to death.
This was somewhat less than novella length (or maybe it just felt that way?) and left me feeling bereft.
Enjoyable, almost more for the story it hints at that doesn't happen on the page than the story on the page itself - if you know what I mean. Interesting twist on Cinderella as well. Short but a good break between the bigger books.
First book I've read like this. Definitely sexually charged and found myself blushing. But, I liked it. It's short and sweet, so it's not a meaty novel, but I may have to read more of these.
an interesting take on what happens to Cinderella's (aka Cindy's) evil stepmother after she marries the prince. a little less rushed development would have been nice, but overall a yummy read.
Just disgusting writing. Nothing tasteful about it. Phrases such as, "Who was she kidding? Her panties were drenched" left me feeling like I needed to wash my mouth out.
