Anne started writing smutty stories in 2006 on the advice of her girlfriends who declared, “You’ve read so much of that stuff you should be able to write it in your sleep!” Turns out it wasn’t such a bad idea.

Not one to be shy, she jumped into the publishing pool with both feet and is now multi-published, as well as award nominated.

She’s a transplant, like most of the rest of Florida, although she came to the Sunshine Peninsular via Auckland, New Zealand. No, she doesn’t know why she moved from such a lovely country (although her husband might have had something to do with it); no, she doesn’t know any hobbits, nor any orcs; and yes, her accent is kinda sexy.

She has an Eppie Finalist certificate hanging on her office wall, as well as top ten nominations in the Preditors and Editors yearly polls.

Picked this one up becasue I loved "Tea for Three" by the same author. Same basic formula: an established m/m couple invites a female to complete their little family. In both cases, the female is on the curvy side, is less that self-confident, and is comfortable in the role as the gay couple's best friend (with a big side of lusting after them in secret).

Comparisons aside.... Matt and Brian were searching for a roommate so they could afford off campus housing at college. Jo comes into their lives, and not only is it instant lust for both bi-sexual men, but she brings out the protector in both of them. Jo has had a rough time of it. Her cousin, her only surviving relative, is trying to screw her over (in more ways than one) in order to get his hands on her inheritance from her parent's death.

Eight years later, Jo lives in one side of a duplex with Matt and Brian on the other side. They've been watching her "audition" potential men, thinking she should have a chance at that normal one man/one woman relationship, but they've decided enough is enough. None of those losers were worthy of their Jo.

Things progress from friendship (and love) to physical intimacy in a matter of days. Instead of a slow build, Matt and Brian go for the big push, proving to her that this isn't a fling or a dalliance, but a desire for them to form a real family.

Instead of holding back, Jo jumps in with both feet. After all these two men are all she has in the world.

Within six months they are building a house in the country and trying for babies.

Nice sweet story, but the quick push into intimacy didn't work as nicely as the slow build in "Tea for Three". Granted, it's hard to find realism in either story - the pure fantasy of a flawed female finding not one, but two nearly flawless Prince Charmings. *g* But, hey, it's nice to read romances where the heroine is so much more relateable.

After finishing the book, I guessed that this book pre-dated "Tea for Three", and I was correct. I think there is evidence of the author's growing writing skills from one book to the other. Not to say that there was any lack here, only that "Tea for Three" had that magical extra spark above and beyond.

Both books are recommended if you like the m/m/f formula.

SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Jo has been best friends with Matt and Brian for eight years -- since she met them when she replied to their roommate wanted ad in college.

The two men are bisexual and have had a relationship with each other all this time. But they've both also seen Jo as their missing piece. Only she has had some trauma in her life, so they thought it best to give her space since what they want from her is so unconventional. Now they are done waiting. They want forever with her.

REVIEW:

I've had this one on my TBR for awhile now. And it's also an older ménage, which can be really hit or miss for me. Some older ménages just read very cheesy to me.

This one was a bit middle of the road. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either.

I really loved how much Matt and Brian care for Jo (and for each other). I like that they were friends before taking that leap. I love how supportive they are of her too. And I enjoyed their plotting to win her over.

Jo was harder for me to like. She's extremely insecure at first and very self-degrading. I realize she's been through some trauma in her life and that's the reason, but I really dislike MC's (male or female) who are overly insecure and put themselves down constantly.

That said, once she settled down with that (basically in the epilogue) I liked her a little more.

The steam is okay. Again, middle of the road. Some was hot. I loved the scenes with Matt and Brian together. I loved their interactions during sex too.

But it still read like an old ménage. It just felt old, because it is. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. There is a follow up epilogue book that I'll still read because I already own it. But overall this was just okay.

This is one of those friends become lovers stories that I love; plus, its an mmf mnage so that makes it doubly enjoyable. Jo is a plus-sized woman who has been dealt some hard blows by life. Brian and Matt have known her since she was seventeen and have been waiting for the right time to bring her into their relationship. I did like this story, although I probably would change the title. Jo really didnt need all that much persuading! LOL!

This was one of the first erotic romances I ever bought and I absolutely loved it to bits when I first read it. I still kinda love it with warm fuzzies after several years, though I've come to realize that the story line is not unique. ;)

This was too short. A hot, contemporary menage romance that works. No outside danger, just the characters and how they see each other. Lovely.

Just as great on the second read.

Enjoyable but short. If you want to read a M/M/F story with more character and story development, try Tea For Three, also by Anne Douglas.
