***This review contains mild spoilers.***

I didn't enjoy this installment, but not because of the reasons some other readers are having. I am not the type of romance reader that needs a nice tidy conclusion to every love story. If the author gives me a clear and rational path to why things work out the way that they do, I am perfectly alright with a happy for now or even a parting of ways. Sometimes failed relationships in a romance, especially within a series, leads to genuine happiness with someone else down the line. I may not always like it, but authors should tell the stories of their characters the way they see things playing out, not the way they think will make the majority of people happy. The issues that I have with Capu is execution of the plot. For me the story needs to unfold in a way that even if I think that the characters are behaving irrationally, or making bad decisions, I have a clue as to why it's happening or their thought process behind that behavior. I didn't feel that way with Shae or Carlo.

We find out that Shae has had a very traumatic life that included some of the worst neglect and abuse that can befall a child. Which can explain some of her issues, but not others. Shae is full of contradictions when it comes to her sexual relationship with Carlo. She says how much she loves it, but she is constantly trying to limit many aspects of their intimacy. She even goes so far as to convince Carlo to agree with her doing something to her body that will prohibit them from having sex for a significant amount of time while he is visiting. He is only to be with her for about a month, and what she does would make many sexual acts unsafe for her. Why would she do that and why would Carlo agree? There had to have been deeper motives for that, but this is a novella and it's not addressed at all. I suppose that it could be said that sex is not the main focus of a relationship, but it's important and she is sabotaging that aspect of their relationship on purpose.

Carlo has trust and intimacy issues that are self evident and needed no further explanation. However, the one thing that I thought would be a given for him would be his possessiveness of the woman that he loves. I thought that possessiveness would extend to anyone, whether they be male of female. Carlo is a Sicilian, an enforcer, and a believer in machismo living in the 1990's. His seemingly easy capitulation to Shae taking him to a club where there are drag queens and him feeling comfortable and enjoying himself is unbelievable for me. No matter how open minded he is trying to be after what happened before. Also, and this is the biggest issue for me, is the idea that Carlo would enjoy seeing the woman he loves having a physical encounter with another person blows my mind. There's no background for Carlo that would make me as a reader believe that something like that is an enjoyable kink for him. If he was watching some one night stand or temporary fling doing that I could buy it. He wouldn't be emotionally invested in that person, wouldn't consider her his. But watching the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with being sexually pleasured by another person? No. Carlo of all people would hold the one he loves close and not want to share such an intimacy with anyone else. Carlo has little that is his and his alone, and apparently not even the woman who is suppose to love him can be solely his. For me, this was the greatest disappointment of the entire story. I don't care who Carlo ends up with, I just hope that it is someone who will value him and his love over a few quick orgasms. (Did that sound bitter? Yeah, it probably does.)

I wavered between giving this story a two or three star rating. Since there are no half star ratings, I generously gave this one three stars initially, but after having time to think about the story, I'm giving it two stars. I just really didn't enjoy the story and wouldn't really recommend it as even an enjoyable quick read. I gave it three stars mainly because of sentimentality and Mynx has said that this is a bridge book and it will feed into the overall story arc of the series. I am trusting that what occurred in this story will be important not only to Carlo's full story, but the bigger picture for the entire series. But nevertheless, that's not a good enough reason to give a book three stars. The plot surrounding Shae's business problems is loosely woven, wound up too quickly, and is left open to be resolved in further books. There are also some editing hiccups. I am a fan of this series, I just didn't enjoy Capu as much as I had hoped and was left disappointed.

This is one of my favourite series. However, this story has left me reeling, I cannot lie. I have been waiting to read Carlo and Shae's story for so long. I was rooting for this couple. The story is totally full of drama but it had a lot of love and caring from the couple towards each other. Admittedly both parties come into the relationship from a place of brokenness. However, their love should have been able to heal that brokenness. I agree that each person has to love themselves first but the love of another person can help you see your own self worth.

Marietta is dead to me for what she did to her so called "best friend". No real friend would dump on your happiness/relationship the way she did to Shae, it was as if she did not want Carlo and Shae to be together. She just wanted Carlo to be her lap dog and want only her, even though she is married and pregnant. Wow if I could have jumped in the book and beat her ass I would have done it.

Well, even though this was a good read for which I stayed up most of the night to read, the ending was so shockingly disappointing to me. Love is a powerful thing and I know it cannot cure all ills but we are at the end of the day reading a romance story and to have it end the way it did, just kills all that the author showed us about their love. The ending left me feeling, sad and mad. Sorry, this is just how the story made me feel and I cannot remember the last time I felt this upset by an ending.

Please don't get me wrong authors are entitled to write and end their stories how they choose. However, when you have written such a powerful story about love and how it brings people together, it is disappointing when you then show us that this love is not strong enough to hold a couple together. This is just my view, I am sure lots of other readers will view it differently. This is book 2 about this couple and we still cannot make it work. Disappointed! Just keeping it real!

Update: 10/20/17 currently free
https://www.amazon.com/Capu-Battaglia...

Carlo and Shae met in the previous installment of the Battaglia series Amore (Battaglia Mafia #5) by Sienna Mynx . They are both flawed, but interesting characters. Carlo has a thing with his boss' woman than creeps into the relationship he starts with one of her best friends. Shae is a wild party girl, that might not fit in as easily as the rest of the women in his world. This is a great story but lost a half star with some of the resolution of the side plot. I felt Shae was too street smart for some of the decisions that played out. Still a good story, would rate it 3 1/2 stars if possible. It kind of ends with a bit of a cliff hanger, but that really didn't bother me. I felt it ended in a natural place for where these characters developed in the story. I'm can't wait to start the next book.

02/06/18 reread update:
For the most part my original review and rating stand. Despite this being my least favorite book so far in the series, still think fans need to read it. You understand Carlo's mindstate in the next book better because of it. Of the novellas I enjoyed Rallenti (The Battaglia Mafia Series) by Sienna Mynx much more, but it can be skipped without missing a beat storyline wise. The difference being Ronaldo/Kyra were side characters that don't factor in the big scheme of things, unlike Carlo whose fate ties into the main characters more.

Are u kidding me???

I sat and read this book really enjoying the story, even though Shae got on my freaking nerves. Low and behold, they still didn't get together.
It's bad enough it takes years for the books in this series to get published, but to have such a BS ending really makes me angry. That's the reason for the 1 star review.

This was book 6 in the "Battaglia Mafia" series. This was not one of my favorite books in this series. Carlo Giordani is an enforcer for Battaglia Mafia clan he travels to Las Vegas to see Shannon ‘Shae’ Dennis who we met in book 5 she was a friend of Mira's sister Marrietta. I never liked Shae and I didn't like her in this book she was selfish and self-centered. Shae is a business woman she was a madam and she was hurt when Carlo called her girls whores they were. I felt bad for Carlo he has been hurt all his life he went to prison at 15 where he was beaten and tortured and almost raped all because a girl lied and said he raped her he learned to take things as they were. Carlo was in love with her and he was willing to do anything to keep her including turning his back on the family. Shae life is a mess she is battling her own demons of her past. I really liked Carlo and wished that he could have gotten his happy ending. This book was a lot shorter than the other books in this series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Outstanding emotional rollercoaster

OMG!! I still have tears in my eyes after reading this book! I have wanted Sienna to write Carlo's story from the very beginning. In fact I undercover badgered her about writing him pleaded and Damn near begged for his story. I asked her many times how could she NOT write Carlos story! Then Sienna did and write a hell of a story she DID! The 2 broken souls Carlo and Shae were perfect fit for each other. Their time in Vegas was a wild one and yes Carlo did look out and protect his Shae. My only complaint how it ended....what will happen you know I am impatient when it comes to Carlo! It didn't end in a cliffhanger but their story certainly isn't finished. It better NOT be! Lol The sex scenes were HAWT, at times I had to look around to make sure no one was standing close enough to read my Kindle. I can't wait for the next book in this series. BTW I HATE Marietta please kill her crazy still wants Carlo but will never admit it jealous that He is in love with Shae in your next book!

Twas fabulous, but not without failings!

This was a very entertaining, fast paced read. Shae and Carlo's love story is a beautiful tragedy; for two broken souls, sometimes love is not enough.

Was Marietta always that unpleasant? I'm quite taken back. Was Shae even her friend?

Also, this was too tame to be a "dark erotic thriller", so don't get your hopes up too high on that score.

******After reading the entire series once more*****
The backstory for Shae changed, there were some inconsistencies compared to the one we read in Battaglia 5.

Marietta was always a complicated and occasionally unlikable character.

No no no no....don't end like this

OMG... This was so good. Two broken people in love with each other. Both of them really in love for the very first time. Both of them needing to deal with their personal demons that keeps Shae from taking a chance. How could she do Carlo this way. OMG... I felt Carlos pain and I wanted to shake the crap out of Shae. I can't wait for La Dolce Vita. They have to get their HEA, they just have to. Carlo loves so hard and deep, they just have to.

The book is good. I would give it a four star but I didn't like the ending. It's too depressing. I don't read erotic romance to have a sad ending. I like conflict but not a sad ending. I know the Shae and Carlo story isn't over and they will be revisited again in La Dolce Vita but waiting another two weeks is painful. And I know that the next book won't concentrate on their story as much as Gio or Lorenzo or even Catalina and Domi. So I am disappointed.

I really feel for Carlo. He is always getting hurt. Shae has had a hard life. I didn't like her when she was first introduced. I thought she was too loud, forward and a bit ratchet with the pink hair lol. I warmed to her later on in Amore and I 'get' her now. The only thing I cannot excuse is how she left Carlo. She accepted his proposal and then left him the next day with a NOTE. That's so harsh. Why not sit him down and tell him to prospone what they have so she can go to rehab/therapy to sort her issues out? He has been through an abusive and hard life from childhood too and leaving him so abruptly when she knows he is fragile is cruel. She made him a happy man in one night and in the morning she was gone. After he risked his life and will probably get an ass whopping from the don over her. She felt like he didn't deserve a face to face talk smh. That was selfish and inconsiderate. If they do get back together I feel like he won't be so open. That being said, I like that Shae realised she needed to sort out her demons BEFORE getting into a serious relationship. I wish Marietta did that because Lord knows she's got problems lol.

Marietta is a bitch. I liked her even though I thought she was crazy and mean. I liked how she wasn't as meek as Mira and didnt easily bend to Lorenzo's controlling ways but she has shown how cruel she is. She played on Shae's weakness and her want for a child of her own. She rubs her pregnancy in her barren friend's face? I really pray that Shae can actually have children or that she is already pregnant. I feel like Marietta doesn't want Carlo to fall in love. She wants him all to herself so he can chase after her and she can reject him. I know she doesn't really care for Carlo but I feel she liked it when he wanted her and he was depressed he couldn't have her. She's a narcissist. She is not a good friend at all. I also think Lorenzo suspects something between Carlo and Marietta but he's suppressing the thought.

Why all the raving reviews when this book wasn't that great? Then I thought of how long we've been waiting for this book to come out. We were all a bit desperate to read this.

I did not like the execution of the plot. I was not entertained, I was not on edge while reading it, there was no 'wow' factor and frankly, I just did not feel any chemistry between Shea and Carlo. Carlo seemed different in this book, and yes, I know he is in love and all that but he was so out of character. It just felt like they were two teenagers that believed they were in love.
Oh, and the sex scenes were too much. Skipped those.
Frankly, I see this book as just a stepping stone to La dolce Vita so I am not going to get hung up on this. I know La Dolce Vita is going to more than make up for this. So, Imma read it asap.

This was not what I hoped for...While I absolutely love the Battaglia series by Ms. Mynx, I was floored by the ending to Capu. I couldn't put the book down. I wept for Carlo and Shae and I really, really wanted them to have their HEA (especially Carlo) but I guess the author knows best. I am hoping that their story changes in the upcoming installments. Oh, and I wanted to punch Marietta in the throat...

Carlo's war was a loud kind of silence. He learned to accept pain and understand that pain would be a best friend to him in life. Torn apart one two many times physically and mentally. He learned not to hope throughout life, but just to take things as they came until her.

Shae turned her back on her own private war a long time ago. Still that didn't stop the visions or voices within her head from surfacing from time to time. She lived on a cloud of self doubt and unworthiness covered up by an illusion of confidence. Shae built a life on top of disaster full of remnants of joy. She learned to fight for and wipe everyone's tears, but her own.

Capu: The Dark Erotic Thriller takes us on a journey with Carlo and Shae. They are two hearts thought intertwined creating a perfect harmony. Both knew that there was no one else in to bring them to their knees like the other. They make each other feel pure bliss. Together nothing, but ecstasy. Hungry for more out of life. Hungry for love. Hungry for more than a commitment and a promise. They were hungry for Forever.Together they could see the image of husband and wife kissing before work each day with the promise of not to stay away too long. Could it be? Would it last? In life you have to love yourself before you can truly love someone else unconditionally.

I have always loved Carlo's character. I love him more than Giovanni and Lorenzo. Not a fan of Shae until Capu. They have become my favorite couple. I was excited to read and sadden that this is not a Happy Ending book though I know it's not over for Shae and Carlo. So far I have liked the beginning and middle. I am definitely reading until the end.

Not one of her better books.

I really didn't like this book and I like most of this authors books. I really wanted Shannon aka Shae and Carlo to get their HEA. I understand why the book ended the way it day. Hopefully, Shae and Carlo will find their way back to one another but who knows. Maybe there's another book on the horizon for them after they learn to love themselves so they can love one another. I really don't like Marietta and Lorenzo. They are both very selfish. I hope they can mature and learn some serious life lessons so they can both stop ruining others people's lives and learn how to love each other and not be so destructive. I will tough this series out bc it's a good series buy if I read another book like this one, I'm gonna have to put it down. I will be reading the next book on this series as soon as I finish this review. I will be patiently waiting to see if the author will give Shae and Carlo, my favorite two characters in this series closure. I know the books about the Donna and Don, but those characters are so weak. I like the supporting cast cast better with the exception of Lorenzo and Marietta. Overall I recommend this book and the series is really good. I hope this helps anyone who wants to check out a good Mafia romance series.

Another great continuing saga of the Battaglia clan. Carlo's story really needed to be told. I loved his character in the Battaglia series and now love him even more now that I understand what has shaped him to be the person he is. There were times I wanted to shake Shae but after learning more of her background, I began to understand her better. The relationship between Carlo and Shae was an unhealthy, obsessive kind of love. It could develop into a better union but they both need to really face the demons in their lives.

Sienna is a master storyteller and this book was truly worth the wait. I was very emotional towards the end of the story and cannot wait to see Carlo and Shae again in upcoming stories

Worst Ending of All

I could only give this two stars. I did not care for the story line as part of this series and I thought better of Carlos. If this was a stand alone and not a part of the Battaglia series that would have made it better. I was hopping he got his own book and was highly disappointed. If it was not time to end this story why write it. It left me on a cliffhanger not wanting to read any more about Carlos when I really wanted to see him happy. I can't believe I waited for a cliffhanger.

This wasn't my favorite Sienna Mynx book, but it was still pretty good. I think the author did an excellent job developing the heroine, but the hero fell flat for me. The heroine was the life of the story. She was fun, flirty and strong-willed. The hero was brooding and sexy, but that's it. Carlo and Shea's connection was lost on me unless they were in the bedroom. Carlo did show a softer side in this book and I loved the ending when he fell apart. I have a feeling when these two reunite, that's when their story will pick up for me.

The ending of as total BS. I love this author and the whole series but this book was so powerful and full of emotions, the ending was shocking to me. Am hoping there is a book 2 for Carlo, because he just keeps losing every time. Anyways the ending also felt like the author got tired of writing and rushed everything with that Cliffhanger. Carlo and Shae are my favorites after Giovanni and Bella.

I liked this. I like it because I get what it was suppose to be. I understand that it was a excerpt from the main Battaglia story. I understand that they are both messed up people who love each other but it is not the time for them to be together. I understand that Shae and Carlo are not x,y or z so I do not compare them to z,y, or x. I know what a novella is. I get why Shae did what she did. I know that HEA's don't always happen in real life so I appreciate an author daring to put that reality in a novel, give us something different.

Mynx did a great job telling this PART of a story. I thought this imperfect love was beautiful and intriguing to read. Funny, I actually avoided this book because I was not feeling Shae and Carlo from the main story but this book made me a believe. I am rooting for them.

Mixed feelings

I wasn’t really a fan of shae and Carlo. All the drama revolves around carlo’s feelings for Marietta in the last book and I would have loved that story to play out a bit longer. In this book shae didn’t seem to be into Carlo. She always put of having sex and just wanted his money. She seemed really selfish and self serving when it came to him. Carlo seemed smitten. Perhaps he is ready for love but I wonder if it’s with anyone. He thought he loved Marietta and now shae. This book definitely killed the high I got from the last book. But I’m glad there was no HEA between these two. I want Carlo to find love like renaldo did. Shae just seemed like she wants to play mind games, even in the last book. Other then that the storyline was a bit blah

Best by far, love it. Carlo didn't interest me at first and I couldn't stand that he wanted Marietta, but when Shea came into the picture I started to feel his heart. They are two wounded souls that deserve Love. Marie is just jealous and selfish she shouldn't find any HEA. Carlos so sexy and rough around the edges good guy loves the family and very loyal. Please let him have Shea he truly loves her. Shea should have a really talk with Marie and show her messed up ways. Shea and Carlos deserve to be to gather , two broken people heal and learn to trust in one another, we do that every day.

I really loved this book and I'm emotionally vested in these mafia characters, can't wait for the next books .What a wild ride we have going on with you Miss Mynx your mind is captivating

Carlo has been one of my favorite characters of the entire Battaglia series. Finally being able to read his story was a treat.

Carlo visiting Shae in Vegas was perfect, especially after their convos in book 5. The chemistry between these two was smoldering and I found myself giggling as they progressed into a deeper relationship. When he took on her problems, I swooned. He slipped a couple times but Shae sometimes annoyed me because she wasn't vulnerable with Carlo as he was with her. They both had a lot of trauma but the ending had me in tears. A really good read for people who like romance with an edge, a sexy MMC, and an action-filled third act.

I did not and could not give this story a five star rating. In fact, I am very disappointed that Shae and Carlo did not end up together like the other couples. I am very disappointed in Marietta. She is not a friend to Shae and maybe she never was one (like Shae was to her). I heard rumors that they eventually will get together (Shae and Carlo) and if I could advise Shae, it would be to stay away from Marietta! Terrible friend!

Never Fails to Impress

I love the developer of Carlo in this story. His growth and depth of character makes you appreciate the good things. Shannon (Shae) definitely made me want to smack her a few times but I'm glad she was able to admit her shortcomings. Great read, would definitely recommend if you like bad boys, mafias, suspense.

Why does Sienna Mynx hate Carlo so much?! I’ve seriously never seen a character get tortured so much for no reason. Not only do his brothers keep dying, he keeps getting hooked on straight up psycho narcissists worst of all being his bff Lorenzo. It’s so sad bc Carlo really deserves to feel and experience real love.

Disappointing ending

I really like Carlo all the trauma he has been through and he finally found someone who understood the real man. Shae was as broken but they found a powerful love, tragedy, sizzling hot sex it was a good read but not the ending I expected.
