An October tragedy after a high school dance, a devastated teenage girl chosen by the Spheric Valley, the ever-changing fantasyland and its mimicking world inhabited by dark creatures, broken mirror portals, and an immobilizing watchman who happens to be much more than just a guardian. Will the girl who once thrived survive what she must face? The Girl Who Once Thrived is the first book in the young adult fantasy fiction series In the Depths of Hesed. This series is being written to inspire people to remain loyal to living their lives regardless of life's circumstances.
Having no idea of the story or characters in this book we are immediately tossed into the life of a teenager that has experienced a tragic loss and is now curling into a shell. Somehow she is transported to a strange land with strange rules and strange enemies. We are provided glimpses of what happened to make her how she is today while she explores this new space. The writing it on par, descriptions are wonderful, and I was blown away by one of the chapters in its imagination and clarity. No, not telling which one, Here thar be spoilers!! Just pick up a copy, read it, and make sure you come back afterward and leave a review, just like I did.
Lacy Marie has written a beautiful book so well written and inspiring. To me, this story deals with healing and facing those fears that come from heart-ache and heartbreak. Sometimes when tragedy and loss occur, those that experience it need a point in time to step away and re-evaluate so they can grow stronger and become better suited to face the real world. Hang on, because there will be more in this series.
Enjoyed this book very much. Know the young new Author personally, blown away by her imaginative writing and imagery. I read it very quickly and awaiting the next one with anticipation. To continue the story line and see where it leads next.
