A game of seduction... It's obvious to Jason that his son's girlfriend is only after the Masters' money. It's only when Josh announces their engagement that Jason decides to do something to get rid of the gold-digger. It's a straightforward plan, so why does she make him feel things he hasn't since his wife died years ago? Could the infallible Masters have misjudged Lanie? Or is she simply playing him in return? Jason is happy to see his son Josh, but when he sees Lanie, and his body reacts to her, Jason thinks it's just the stress of his son being involved with this woman so young. As the time goes on and Jason discovers that Josh and Lanie live together, he's really worried they're moving to fast. Lanie can't believe she's on such an amazing holiday with her best friend, and that she gets to be up close to Jason whom she's had a crush on since she saw his photo. Now all she has to do is convince Josh to tell Jason about his engagement. When Jason upsets Josh, he gets angry and Josh yells that he's engaged to Lanie, Lanie is mortified and tells Josh to tell Jason the truth. Jason arranges an internship for Josh with the intent of seducing Lanie so that he can prove to Josh that Lanoe is wrong for him, and he's making a big mistake. As Jason and Lanie spend time together, their feelings grow, until Jason overhears a conversation between Josh and Lanie about infidelity and forgiveness. Now Jason plans to destroy Lanie.

This was a great story, it was also heartbreaking, especially when you learn what Lanie has been through. It's also a great lesson in telling the truth.

Rich man has a son who refuses to live off his money. Rich man's son is gay but won't come out to his father so he uses his roommate who is his best friend and a female to let his father know he's getting married. Rich man decides she's not good enough for him and decides to seduce her to convince his son she's just after his money.

Five stars for the writing but a point off for the ridiculous premise and the fact that the father didn't realize something was off. You'd think he would when the son wasn't upset they got together and when it was clear that she hadn't had sex in a while. Overall, I enjoyed it.

The concept of the story was great and I loved Lanie, but Jason was a dick which I didn't mind.I liked the story for the most part but it was questionable at times and full of missed opportunities.
What really bothered me was the whole glossing over/ non confrontational attitude after Josh arrives back home. The whole thing was weird. Jason didn't question why his son wasn't upset and Josh didn't reveal his secret either.

The climax was a dud when it's all revealed and then goes into the HEA. Jason didn't have to work very hard to get Lanie back, which sucks considering how he treated her and the things he said, did, and implied.

God, Jason was REALLY awful! I disliked him so much, it was painful. He hurt Lanie so much, I wanted to beat him unconscious. What he did that last night...was the worst thing in the world. I dare say, it was almost rape. Dubious consent at the very least. I don't know how I'd ever forgive something like that, really. I was totally disgusted with him.
On the contrary, I really liked Josh. So sweet and a really good friend.

I read this book for free on the free fm app. I liked that it was relatively short, I enjoyed the attraction and spice between Jason & Lanie. However Jason presented as very immature for his age by his actions. That said it was a free book, it had spice & a HEA, so why would I complain? 🤣❤️

Lanie pretends to be Josh's fiancé while he gets up the nerve to come out to his father, but the strong attraction she feels for Jason makes keeping up the ruse difficult. Meanwhile, Jason thinks Lanie is a gold digger, and that seducing her is the best way to expose her true colors to his son.

The problem with these misunderstandings-and-deceptions type books is that learning the truth doesn’t erase the things they did when they believed the lie. Meaning, Lanie was falling in love with a man who was willing to sleep with the woman his son loves. Now, Lanie knows that’s a lie, but Jason didn’t. I just can’t see her falling for a man who would break his son’s trust like that, but there are enough mental gymnastics and justifications to make it plausible.

Lanie addresses these unflattering points during the big confrontation at the end of the book, and it was good to hear her voice them when most books just gloss over the unpleasantries.

I thought that a lot of the flirty conversation between Lanie and Jason was a little awkward and uncomfortable, although that’s due to my personal taste not poor writing. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Josh Masters have a secret to keep from his father, Jason Masters a billionaire extraordinaire. Josh needs to tell his father of his upcoming engagement but takes his roommate, Lanie DeShaw to meet his father (Jason) instead of his lover Mark. Jason decided Lanie is the future Mrs. Josh Masters and a gold-digger wanting his son's money; therefore, comes up with the idea to seduce Lanie to prove a point to his son. The story was very entertaining and interested with several twists and turns that leaves the reader wanting more. The beauty of the story is Jason and Lanie growing attraction to one another.  I highly recommend this book!

I was gifted this book for an honest review.

Good hearted and a real sweetheart Lanie is a character to be admired. She has and always wants to stand on her own. Jason is rich and jaded, surely Lanie is just leading him and his son on.

Grab a tissue, this story will rip out your heart, throw it on the floor and stomp on it, then put it back together, pretty much.
