My first book by Jody Bailey Day happens to be the second in a series, but it is complete enough to stand alone. She has a realistic writing style that takes her readers on a trip that is not soon forgotten.

Scott has had a heart attack and he is having a hard time coming to terms with what this means for him, his fiancee, and his businesses. He goes through the stages of grief for a life that once was and for a life that won't be again. His fiancee, Bailey, tries to stand beside him and encourage him, but he's having none of it. Finally, he breaks off his engagement, but Bailey hasn't given up.

This is a novella that is a quick read, that will fill a lazy afternoon with thought-provoking entertainment. The characters are believable; the setting, while fictional, is easily imagined and fully fleshed out. The tension in the plot keeps the reader involved all the way to the end.

This was a fairly fast read centered around Scott and Bailey. This story has you guessing at times, but you’ll eventually get to the happy ending. I loved the secondary love story with Bailey’s mom and Scott’s uncle.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Scott takes a turn to tell his side of his romance with Bailey. He may have only met her a few months ago, but he’s had a washout engagement years past and knows this time Bailey is the right woman. Whether or not it’s the right time is the big question. When his former fiancé reenters his life in a frighteningly dependent way, both Scott and Bailey play truth or consequences for life.

This story takes up right after Washout Express. Set in a quaint Texas community, readers who love miracles and spectacular weddings will have fun with this story. It’s not necessary to read the first story to fall in love with these characters and their story in the Wedding Express. Told from multiple viewpoints, the reader is carried along by the whirlwind events of loss, a medical emergency, and surprise knots of every kind. It’s short and sweet.

Loved it! Scott is having a few issues, health-wise and wedding-oriented. Will Bailey be patient enough to work through them with him? I got so involved in their lives that I was sorry when it ended. Now we need a Baby Scott or Baby Bailey - or maybe twins?? Really enjoyed this one and look forward to the next.
