Meet all the animals as you peek and explore around a farm! Each scene features a pair of lift-a-flaps with peek-a-boo surprises. Inside the flaps, you'll find fun facts about the animals in the artwork.
There are a lot of animals that make up a farm and a lot of them are represented in this book. Some are even hiding. Some should stay hidden, like the spider. There was a real opportunity in this peek a boo book to have animals hiding from the “dark side of the farm.” You know, the killing. But it didn’t go there, so youngsters will just grow up believing that all these cows and chickens lived happily ever after.
Moral: The farm is fun.
Length: To be determined by the reader. You could go very fast. You could read every barnyard animal included. Up to you.
Favorite Line: “These little pigs love a mud bath!”
Overall impression: The cover made it look cute, but it’s not. There are no rhyme schemes and there is no story being told. You just look at animals, identify them, and then look behind some secret doors to discover facts. So I guess it’s like the encyclopedia of the farm for a kid. But in that instance, it probably should have included more facts. This is pretty par level stuff for farms, fun, and literacy.
