Groupie
/ˈɡro͞opē/
a person, especially a young woman, who regularly follows a celebrity in the hope of meeting or getting to know them.

See example Tiffany Wendel:

Whore. Slut. Cleat Chaser. I’m used to the names so they don’t bother me. These are my boys. My friends. So what if I like to have dirty sex with them? My body is no one’s business but mine.

Why is Rowen Flanigan making me re-think how I live my life? Making me question my choices? He’s only a rookie.

rook·ie
/ˈro͝okē/
a member of an athletic team in his first full season in that sport.

See example Rowen Flanigan:

Player. Son of a legend. Rookie.
Sure, I’d heard the stories of the groupies before. Who hasn’t? I’ve just been more sheltered than my teammates. So what? I didn’t expect her to be smart. Witty. Kind. She brings me to my knees in every way – except one.

That part? I’m saving until the time is right.

So how in the hell did I end up falling for a Groupie like Tiffany? And how in the hell is this going to work when everyone at my job has had a piece of the one thing I haven’t?

UPDATE JUNE 2018:
IF you could understand the behavior of the heroine, KUDOS FOR YOU!
But I could not, I think because I read Mariana's book and I got disgusted at this heroine.
If the playboy has sex with married women, I too will find him disgusting and dislike his attitude. It's a deal breaker for me.
It's not a question of accepting a womanizer hero and not accepting heroine with the same behavior.
The point is that she behaved just like a sexual object and was used for the pleasure of ALL team players. She passed between them all.
She knew exactly what she was doing and knew her position in relation to the players.
So much so that she felt guilty when she met the wife of one of the players.
I did not accept the attitude of the player who cheated on his wife and did not accept her attitude. It's a matter of personal opinion.
I'm not forced to have the same opinion of other people.
I am free to think according to my values.
And the wedding vows are to be respected.
I find it very difficult for her to be accepted by the wives/girlfriends whose husbands/boyfriends had sex with her and would not feel uncomfortable with her presence.
It is totally out of reality.
And the hero has to be too strong to keep his head up in an environment where all the men had sex with his wife as if she were a sex toy.
I'm sorry but it did not work for me. I think I'm too old for these things.

FEBRUARY 2017

heroin is a whore:

Do you guys know Tiffany?”
“We’ve met,” Santos says noncommittally, the woman next to him still watching me. My heart starts to race, and I’m praying this is not who I think it is. “This is my wife, Mariana.”
Shit.
Guilt hits me like a ton of bricks. I knew Santos was married when we hooked up, but I never thought I’d come face-to-face with his wife. Groupies never interact with the families. We stay distant. Separate. The two never overlap.
Being in front of her, seeing her face, her pregnant belly…

Plot: Tiffany is a groupie for a small soccer team of what she thinks of as her friends. She’s also a sports reporter. She loves sex and sports and then she meets the new rookie, virgin hero Rowen, and falls in love. The book is about the teams reactions and Rowan dealing with her former role as groupie.

Hero: Rowen was an honorable, if not TSTL character. The author wrote him as a man willing to overlook past mistakes and that’s great, but he comes across as weak, in my opinion.

Heroine: She was a woman who wanted to have fun. Nothing wrong with that. But the team wasn’t her friend and that made her pathetic in my eyes.

Opinion: I picked this book up because I wanted to read about a woman who was sexually liberated. That’s my jam.

description

But what I got was a sad woman who let men use her. She was stupid enough to think they were her friends.

description

The only one on the team who respected her was one she never slept with, besides the Hero, of course. That tells you a lot.

I’m all for sexual equality, but this woman was disgusting. She knowingly had sex with married men. That’s a firm… HELL NO. I’m not slut shaming her. I’d judge a man just as harshly if he’d behaved like this. In fact, I try to only read stories where the hero isn’t a man whore. That’s my trigger, author’s take note. I’m not going to swallow the stereotypical piles of crap you shove at me anymore. I want an honorable hero. One who doesn’t give his milk away for free.

description
description

The push/pull: Both were interested equally.

Safety/Experience level: She was VERY experienced. He had none.

Ending: Married

Would I read again? NOPE

I don't like my heroes being whores and specially reading scenes with him and ow. The same goes for the heroine. In this book the hero for a contest Ewwww. And another reviewer said the heroine didn't care if the player
I confess I'm not a fan of groupies of any kind because they sound desperate. Sexual freedom is one thing. Having sex with a whole team because of their status is something different. IMHO

This book made me angry because I see it as anti-feminism disguised as pro female sexual freedom. The heroine of Groupie is the cleat chaser from Juked. I love a good female/male roles swapped where the woman is the player and the hero is less experienced. But that is not this story.

Tiffany loves sex so much that since she was 18 she's been a "friend of the team" and has group sex, blow job races, circle jerks, you name it with all of them. And with all of them, I mean even the married ones, of which she's well aware. At one point she is competing in a blow job race and the guy says his wife will be upset if he participates and she says -- oh come on no big deal I'll be fast. We also get a graphic scene of her having sex with another married guy who has three kids and a pregnant wife. I kept reading thinking the author would give Tiffany a moment of enlightenment and guilt, but every time I thought it was going to happen it did not. "I do feel a twinge of guilt about sleeping with her husband, but I absolutely refuse to show weakness to someone who has done the exact same thing I have."

Really? That's how she continues to justify her actions throughout the entire book. Frankly, her morals are compromised and I just couldn't get over it.

No character arc whatsoever except she stops when the virgin hero tells her he wants monogamy. During this conversation she says "I've been young and single the last several years and have been enjoying myself. But don't misunderstand; monogamy is a must in my relationships." No girl, it's actually not. She never gets it and I don't get why other people loved this book so much. To each her own.

I just can’t buy the relationship between the virgin hero and the team “ whore”. Nope nope nope. And Tiffany who brags about her intelligence and thinks the guys on the team are her friends? 🙄🙄
The third book of this series is why I started this series, and this sets up that, so I muddled through. 2 stars.

I just couldn't do it...

I'm all about sexual liberation, especially with the books we immerse ourselves in where the men are typically the manwhore and get away it while the girl is the opposite.

The h loves sex. Has zero shame in it. All fine and dandy. But the s**t that goes down and how...and the just made me kind of sick to my stomach. Only because if you knew about the H and how sweet he comes off and his "deal", you'd totally get it.

While this is a highly rated book and fan fave based off the reviews, this one is just not for moi.

To say this female character is a bad girl with a good heart is not how I see her at all. Hero deserved better.
Whether the player was married or not she didn't care. That pretty much voids out the good heart wouldn't ya say?

So often we find a book about the bad boy with the heart of gold but it is rare that we encounter a book about the bad girl. Tiffany Wendel is that girl. Unapologetic for her life choices, Tiffany is more than a groupie. As the tagline says, every slut has a story, and Groupie is confirmation of that statement.

Beyond the bright lights and fame of professional sports is a world that only a few are privy to. Women and sex are laid out like a buffet for athletes. Temptation and opportunity are everywhere.

With a strong commitment to himself and his future self, Rowen Flanigan knows how to avoid temptation. That is until he meets a beautiful girl that intrigues and challenges him. The relationship between Tiffany and Rowen isn't easy and it isn't without pain but it is real and it is inpiring. Love isn't about changing for someone else, love is about accepting the person for who they are and how they make you feel.

M.E. Carter has done the unthinkable. She has taken the one girl that nobody wants to like and made her lovable. Yes, really. M.E. Carter's ability to have the reader doubting their first impression of Tiffany is nothing short of pure talent. But, it's when you finish the book and realize that every person has a story. Every woman is more than they appear. Behind all of the masks we wear, whether they be real or how we portray ourself, human nature is simple. We want to be loved. We want to be respected. And we want to be accepted. Tiffany is no different. Tiffany has a story, she's more than a slut.

I couldn't finish it and here's why:

1. Virgin male soccer player who's saving himself for Mrs. Right
2. Girl who literally sleeps with the entire soccer team because they are her "friends"
3. Those two aren't enough?

When I heard ME Carter was writing a book about Tiffany, that Tiffany my first reaction was.....why? Why would you do that? Because I knew that she was going to make me not hate her. And I really like hating her.

Warning: This is a spin off of Juked. You could read it as a stand alone, but then you won't know how much you don't like Tiffany. You won't know the backstory. The one that you need to fully appreciate this story.

Rowan is a rookie with the Houston Pro Soccer team. He is the son of a famous European player but he doesn't want anyone to know. He wants to earn their respect. So he keeps his family history and his hair under wraps.

Tiffany likes to hang around with the team. She is a "Friend of the Team". She enjoys the perks of being around the guys. The tickets. The parties. She is a groupie. And she's ok with that. She's young, beautiful and makes the choices she wants. No regrets. Until she met Rowan.

Rowan Flanigan is going to be trouble for me. Just know it.

Rowan makes her want more. Makes her feel like there might be more to life than the next party.

Have I gotten love and lust mixed up? Is that even possible? ...and while I'm not ashamed of myself, this if definitely a different spin on the idea.

But you know the problem with a different spin? No one really appreciates it. No one is really on board with the new spin. People are pretty set in their spinny ways.

You think you belong here now that you've finally gotten your claws in one of the guys. But you don't. You're trash...

I want to tell you so much more...but I don't do spoilers. So I won't tell you about the sweet moments, the fights, the bangers and mash or the texting. I will tell you about the commitment, the decision to stick by your decision. It's that the mark of character? Follow through. Even when it's not easy or popular.

I want to be faithful to my wife someday....I want to know that the person I have all that with is the one I love more than anyone or anything else in the world, forever.

I didn't think I could like Tiffany. I sure as hell didn't want to. I was not going to find her courageous or sympathetic. Damn it ME Carter.

Groupie is the story of forgiveness and expectations. Forgiving yourself and rising to the expectations that others have for us even is we don't have them for ourselves.

You're here with me.

Yes, ME (short for Manipulator of Emotions) Carter did it. She gave the Slut her Story. And i bought in. All in. Damn it.

This book was a struggle because I really wanted to like Tiffany but I couldn't get over the things she did.

Like with Goalie, I think the author had a great concept but the execution didn't work for me. In this one, we have a groupie who has more depth than expected. She's confident and career oriented. She does the groupie thing because she genuinely enjoys it and considers herself as a friend to the team. She's not doing it because she's desperate for a semi-famous person's attention or because she wants to snag a teammate for herself (even though she does eventually). Conceptually, that's a fascinating idea. It's great to see a sexually liberated woman who knows what she's getting into. She's not a coked-up/drunk cling-on like a stereotypical groupie would be (and her friend Sasha is).

Where it went wrong for me is that she had no scruples about her actions whatsoever. She didn't care if the player was married or not. Anyone was fair game. It also didn't appear like she was attracted to anyone more than another so her f*ckings really felt indiscriminate. We're told that she's different from most groupies, but we're not shown that. When it comes down to it, she acts like a stereotypical groupie even though the author tries hard to make her seem different.

If the author wanted her to be different than the typical groupie, she should have given her scruples and made her more discriminatory. As in, she'd only f*ck with single guys and only the ones she was attracted to. That way, we'd know that she's looking for a good time, doesn't expect anything and she's in charge of her own sexuality. By having her f*ck anyone who pulls out a d*ck her way, she came off as a bimbo despite the authors intent to give her more depth.

It didn't help that we're told early on that from her perspective, she thinks she's buddies with the teammates but from their perspective, she's just a piece of ass. It doesn't make her seem sexually liberated if she is clueless about how she's actually perceived by people. Again, if she were more discriminatory about who she f*cked, she would have been a bit more respected by the team.

**SPOILER** territory below (sort of spoilery but more about character growth rather than plot points)

I took issue with the supposed character growth of the h. Again, the author tells us that she learns from her actions but we're not really shown that.

For example, she feels remorse when she meets spouses of players she f*cked, especially one who is pregnant (she f*cked that player earlier in the book). She's dating one of the H at that point and has feelings for him so she starts to see how painful it would be for that spouse.

Not long after and through many instances in the book, Tiffany is talking to the H and says time and time again that she's not ashamed of her actions and she doesn't think she did anything wrong. She thinks she's a sexually liberated woman and she's proud of her sexuality. Ok...but how can you be proud of your actions if they are hurting other people? Sometimes she feels remorse when she thinks about the wives but then other times she insists that she's not ashamed of her actions. That's not character growth. It felt like the author was trying hard to have this sexually liberated woman but didn't give her enough complexity to grow. To make her grow would be to show that her actions had consequences and being sexually liberated doesn't mean f*cking indiscriminately. You can be happy with yourself as a person but at the same time learn from your mistakes.

Wtf?

This book is horrible... Not just bad, but absolutely despicable. The heroine has zero redeeming qualities, and is somehow rewarded with the kindest (and cleanest) hero in this genre? In one way it’s nice to see a virgin hero for a change, but in another, they way she operates this character is completely unbelievable. It been awhile since I have said that the hero has no self respect, but he doesn’t... He deserved better than the team whore. This isn’t a chick who sometimes slept with the single players. No, this is a girl who participated in orgies and blowjob races. If that was the worst of it, to each their own I guess. But no, the worst part is that she screwed married men left and right. She didn’t care if they were involved with someone else or not, anyone was fair game. She did a three way the night she met the hero and after he walks away she screws another guy. Another night the hero comes in on her giving yet another guy a blow job, then kisses her? I wanted to vomit. They go in a date and a week later she’s stripping for most of the team while they sit there and jack-off. Just ew. This book is a train wreck, I wanted to look away but just couldn’t. I read this after liking the first book, but I guess I didn’t realize the extent of her issues. She needed therapy and whore rehab. I am scared to read Santos’s story because so far he has no redeeming qualities either. You’ve been warned... I loved Jason Hart’s series, but after this I just don’t know if I can venture reading this author again. This book is mislabeled, it’s not a “new adult” romance, it’s the plot to a porno or just strait erotica... people should should know what they are really getting...

No, thank you. Tiffany was just an awful “heroine”. She slept with married men and didn’t care because she never thought she would have to see the wives. 🙄 That made me not care about her or her feelings. So yeah, it was shitty when her naked pic was put online because no one deserves that, but I didn’t feel bad for her for being outed as the Blowjob Queen of blowjob races and so on because it’s just the truth. I was actually cheering on the other WAGs who beat up on her at the game because she totally had a good punch in the face coming to her.
Rowen was a good boy. Kinda naive, but good. He had a good upbringing and great morals, so how he fell so hard so fast for Tiffany was a head scratcher. I did love the way he was able to tame Tiffany’s sexual habits simply by keeping control and saving his virtue for marriage.

The writing was great though, as I’ve come to learn about M.E. Carter. I really enjoy her style. Unfortunately, Tiffany ruined the experience for me.

Honestly, the main thing that kept me interested in the book was listening to Christian Fox’s Irish accent as he narrated it. 😜

I was apprehensive about reading this book because I wasn't sure if I would like the heroine-I've read this series backwards (Goalie appealed to me first) and I knew Tiffany had played a part in ruining Santos' marriage although, let's face it, he was the  married  party who stood up , took vows and then obliterated the whole faithful element of said vows.

I found the characters fascinating and Rowen is a sweet guy who falls hard for Tiff and she finally finds someone who wants her for her , not just a warm, willing body.

I think for me, I struggled with seeing so many of the married players openly have sex with the groupies and the blow job contest was gross. This book really took me out of my comfort zone. I thought the nude pic being splashed across the web was written very well and with brutal honesty . I felt really sorry for Tiff.
HEA? Yes
Cheating? Not between Tiff and Rowen but at the start Tiff has explicit sex with Santos and Mack watches.

I have to be honest here. I was nervous about reading this book. There were a lot of strong emotions expressed by readers and not all of them were love. In fact after reading some of the reviews, I was pretty sure I'd hate it. But nevertheless, I loved Juked and I love the author, so I bought it anyways. And then it sat on my Kindle for a LONG time, before I finally started into Tiffany's story. And now I have to eat crow. I was wrong and shouldn't have pre-judged the book.

Let me start by saying this book was really, really well-written. It is a rollercoaster of emotions for both the reader and the characters. It is a love story that will break your heart a few times, before putting it back together. This isn't a sunshine and roses kind of romance. This is raw, real, messy, ugly and beautiful.

Some of the scenes were very uncomfortable for me to read. As in, made me physically sick to my stomach. What Tiffany and the other groupies would do for the team made my head spin. And without even giving it a second thought. It wasn't that Tiffany necessarily thought that she didn't deserve better than how the players treated her, but more that she loved the rush of sex and was addicted to being the centre of attention as a team groupie. She was convinced that these guys were her friends and that what stayed behind closed doors would stay there. It didn't matter if the player was married, attached or single, Tiffany and the groupie girls were at their service.

Rowen the rookie, couldn’t believe what he was seeing his new teammates doing at the after parties. As the son of a very famous pro-footballer, he’d of course heard stories about groupies, but he’d managed to avoid it until he arrived on scene with the Mutiny. To say he was appalled at the behaviour of both the women and his teammates would be putting it mildly. He was brought up to respect women, to be certain that sex was going to mean something before giving it away and to be faithful to the person you love. Rowen wasn’t even really a drinker, but he wanted to fit in with his new teammates, so he was trying to be a good sport by attending the parties. Imagine his surprise when he finds out that the beautiful, smart, funny woman he was flirting with at a bar earlier in the week, is Tiffany, the reigning queen of the groupies (among other things).

He’s shocked, but smitten with her none the less. Rowen has a hard time making sense of the two sides of Tiffany that he’s met. He knows there’s so much more to her than the locker room gossip and her the reputation that precedes her, but can the conservative, quiet Rowen look past, well…her past? Even if she decides to give Rowen a chance, she’s shown that she has no problem helping husbands cheat on their wives, so why wouldn’t she cheat on Rowen? Why would she be willing to take things slowly with Rowen, when she can get action whenever she wants it? Why? Because Rowen wants to give her everything. His love, his life, his body and when he commits to something or someone, he’s all in.

The odds are definitely stacked against them. Even if Rowen can get past his insecurities and Tiffany is willing to live a little more on the tame side of life, they have so many other people working against them. It’s not an easy road for either of them. In fact the journey is quite gut-wrenching and at times, I wondered how they could possibly make this work. But when two stubborn people decide to fight for what they want, it takes a lot more than disapproval, cruelty and threats to break them apart.

An emotional, eye-opening, surprising love story.

No cliffhanger. Standalone. Second book in the Texas Mutiny series. HEA.

Buonasera!

A presto.

Groupie ~ 4.5 stars

A couple of months ago I read my first book by M.E. Carter, Juked. I’m not a sports fan, but I really liked the story and its characters. One of the side characters was a team groupie, Tiffany. To my surprise I learned she would be the heroine of the next book, I didn’t like her at all. Groupie tells us her story, and to my surprise I’ve ended loving Tiffany, and her man Rowan.
“So you’re a groupie.” I blink in surprise. It’s not as simple as answering yes or no. “That’s what some people call me.” “What do you call yourself?” “A fan.” “A fan,” he deadpans. I shrug. “A super-‐fan?” “That’s probably more accurate.”

Tiffany is a 22-year-old sports producer. She loves sports, and loves the job she that she has. Tiffany is a free woman, who isn’t shy about her sexuality and she enjoys having sex. Being a groupie/friend to the Texas Mutiny soccer team gives her what she needs; lots of hot sex with her friends, no strings attached. She doesn’t care if her boys are married or not; she doesn’t think of the consequences of their parties, it’s all fun. The moment Tiffany meets Rowan she knows he’s different. He treats her so very differently than his team mates, and slowly she begins to wonder if being a groupie is worth is all.
“I’ve never claimed to be anything other than what I am. I’m not here to snag a player as a husband. I’ve never striven to become a wife or girlfriend, or WAG as they’re more commonly called. I just like partying with the guys, and I love sex. Period. The end. So why does Rowen’s opinion matter to me?”

Rowan is the Texas Mutiny rookie. As the son of a soccer legend he has grown up with football, it’s basically all he knows. From an early age his parents have taught him to treat women with respect, his coach in college also told him to be an example, not to be a player. Groupies are not unfamiliar to Rowan, but to see his teammates party with them and the things they do… To say Rowan is shocked is an understatement, especially because he actually likes one of the groupies. Tiffany intrigues Rowan, he doesn’t like her actions, but he sees her as a nice girl and he wants to get to know her.
“Even with the hot water pounding my muscles, I can’t relax. Just knowing what these guys think of Tiffany, the way they talk about her behind her back, it’s enough to make me want to beat the shit out of them.”

The moment Tiffany and Rowan meet there is a connection between them. Tiffany is a bit surprised; Rowan doesn’t want sex like the other men, he wants to talk to her, wants to know her. After a bit of a rocky start the couple starts to spend a lot of time together, and Tiffany learns that there is much more to a relation then just sex. It’s about the intimacy, about friendship and getting to know each other’s hopes and dreams. Rowan has a hard time with Tiffany’s history, but he knows if he wants to be with her, he needs to let go. With a past like Tiffany’s you can feel something is about to happen, and of course it does. But Rowan, the gentleman he is, doesn’t want to dwell in the past, all he wants is a future with the beautiful girl.

As I already said, I didn’t like Tiffany in the previous book. She’s the party girl who doesn’t mind to have sex with married men, it’s just fun for her. But slowly, I started to like her, my heart broke for her when the bomb burst. She didn’t deserve it. Yes, her actions where not smart and she didn’t think about the people (namely the wives and girlfriends) she hurt while partying with her boys. But she didn’t do it alone, the men are just as responsible as she is, even more because they are in committed relationships. But this is the way society sees groupies; guys get a pat on the shoulders for sleeping with them, while the girls get shamed for being easy. I love how Rowan looks through Tiffany’s façade, and saw the sweet, smart girl she is.
“I try to convey how much reverence I have for her in my touch. To show her how precious she is to me. “I love you, Rowen,” she says, her voice breaking with emotion. “I love you, too, Tiffany. So, so much.”

I never thought I would love Groupie, but I do. I give the story of Rowan and Tiffany 4.5 stars. I can’t wait for the next book, Goalie.

I tried really I did.

I'm not a fan of groupies in general I admit as much. They give actual fans a bad name. Partly why this was difficult to connect with as much as Ioved Juked. It was very uncomfortable to read. I'm all for no double standards in regards to promiscuity but the heroine's choices and actions were questionable and didn't sit well with me. I just wanted a background of the next character's book. Now promoting cheating and all that is all whole other can of worms.

Idealistic and real of how the sports world is filled with groupies, puck bunny, cleat chaser etc. I appreciated what the author was doing in another perspective and that she's a person too. Can it be possible? Highly improbable. No doubt M.E. Carter tells a good story and does it well. The writing is no issue at all. I will definitely read the author's future works and the next book cause it sounds like a doozy.

Boring book. No chemistry between the MCs and it’s ridiculously slow burn. They go out for months and only kiss because the H is a virgin. 🙄. If a man I dated said he wants to wait til marriage before we had sex at this time and age, I would show him the door😂….but that’s what happens in this book…😐

I know readers hated the h, I disliked her as well, but I was more embarrassed by her than anything. The fool was getting used for sex by those players and she thought they were her friends. What a moron. Anyway, but that’s not why I disliked the book, this story drags, and it doesn’t have enough drama.

The h is a tramp, and the H, who acts like a little boy with red hair is a prude. They just don’t fit with each other.

Pros: I liked that she enjoys sex and she’s good in bed and she’s not ashamed of it, unfortunately, this book is not about a liberated woman but a naive fool who gets used for sex.

This book was given to me for an honest review

2 stars.

I know that I saw reviews go up and they are great reviews. I am so glad there are people out there that enjoyed this book. I didn't. I really tried to finish the book and I was excited about reading it, but I only got through forty percent of the book. I didn't like that the author was putting together a cleat chaser and a virgin soccer player. It made no sense and the stuff she did in front of him before they were together wasn't appropriate. I couldn't get into this book at all and it looks like I'm alone at this point with all the good reviews that are out there. It was too far fetched and I really can't see how this story would work out. I hope the author the best and I'm sorry that I didn't like the book.

To be honest, this type of book isn't really in my interest range. After finding my friend reading this hardcover book in the corner of our school library (oh, I made a field day out of that situation), I decided to take a look. It's okay, I guess.

I really liked this one, yet I'm torn on my rating. Need to think on it for a bit.

‘He veers to the left at the last moment, and his lips make contact with my cheek. “Goodnight, Tiffany,” he says in my ear, making me shiver.

“Goodnight, Rowen.” I turn and walk away.

I was wrong. The way he kissed me...that was damn near perfect.’

This book totally pushed me outside of my comfort zone, not in the sexual sense, because we all love sex and all that it entails, how many partners you have doesn’t concern me in the least as long as it’s consensual and it’s what you desire. When it involves extramarital affairs or cheating of any kind, I tend to shy away from those storylines but I really wanted to test myself with a book and plot that I would otherwise have avoided and I am so thankful that I did because this book was angsty glory. It made me feel, think and re-think on how I tend to view or define romance story heroines and heroes, and what I feel constitutes a romance story, because Groupie by ME Carter flipped all of my misconceptions around, made me take a long look at myself and how I tend to take people at face value, but they are so much more than that, more than what a rumour makes them out to be, or what they present to the world. They’re multifaceted, layered, complicated and extraordinary.

This was a mind-blowing, exhilarating, shocking and at times really beautiful love story. Without getting bogged down in all the minute details and giving the game away, Rowen- our hero was utter perfection. He was incredibly supportive, sweet, deliciously sexy, a bit of a feminist and talented in more ways than one.

While he was a fabulous hero to get lost in for a few hours, it was Tiffany who made me fall in love with this story. She exuded pure confidence, independence and fun but at the same time she was an absolute sweetheart, who always believed the best in everyone, especially those she considered her friends. She had an appetite for sex, kinky, sweet, dirty, rough or playful, whatever type, our girl was down for it. And why shouldn’t she be? A single, twenty-two-year old professional surrounded by sinful football players and parties. I loved her. I loved that she was unapologetic about how she enjoyed herself, I loved that she was authentic and witty and the kind of girl you would want in your corner. She went through the most growth, owned up to her mistakes when confronted with the pain and hurt she caused. She suffered repeatedly for mistakes that were made by not just her alone but she was also willing to open her heart time and again, the moment Rowen walked into her life.

This book was seriously intense for me but in a really good way. I powered through it until I reached the end in the wee hours of the morning. I was hooked, enthralled and consumed with every piece of drama, angst, heartbreak and love. And the sex. Those were some pretty hot scenes. So very glad I took a chance on this one.

After reading the first book of this series yesterday, I was left a tad disappointed; however, a preview for this one came up and I was all like yaaaas please.

This book was way better. And honestly, this shit is real. I have been fortunate enough to not have had to experience what the heroine had to go through, thank the lord but man does it make you fucking feel. Slut shaming is no joke.

I know a lot of people were butt hurt after reading the party scenes at the beginning but I thought they were awesome. I felt like they were a necessary addition to the plot and my bucket list.

Anyway. I won't be continuing on with the series because the next book just doesn't interest me but if this one can totally be read as a standalone if you don't want to read the first one.

I am glad I gave M.E. a chance. Started the year off right.

Silvia

4 Platypires for Groupie by M.E. Carter

HOT DAMN. M.E. Carter knows how to push those limits. I actually have to laugh at some of the negative reviews for Groupie. Really? What do you expect with a book called Groupie? A book about a girl feeling shame for sleeping around? Yeah, this is not that book. So if you're into slut shaming then this book is not for you.
I immediately had to pick up Groupie after reading Juked. I could not put it down and read it all in one day. The story was a roller-coaster of drama with a lot of hot sexy scenes. Again, just damn.
I also need to give M.E.Carter credit for showcasing my city of Houston in a positive light. The spots that were mention in both books are legit Houstonian destinations. Kudos.
Overall, this was a really good read. I would recommend it those who don't get their panties all twisted.

I’m so conflicted about my feelings on this story! I don’t want to turn this into a soapbox review, but I’ve got some venting to do! It may come across judgmental, but it’s MY very strong option on this subject. I’m going to come right out and say, I dislike reading in detail, about any overly promiscuous H or h, in my reads. Unfortunately, we are all aware society has double standards on men being man-whores and woman being...well— whores, it has negative connotations either way.

I loved Rowen, and I’ll be honest...I couldn’t for the life of me see how he could want to have anything do with Tiffany, in the begging. Yes, I can see the initial attraction. She was beautiful, smart, ambitious, and very well versed in all things sports. However, once he walked in on her performing one of her sexapades, I woulda been OUT! He was committed to her from the beginning tho, and seemed to want to love her through her misguided sense of self, and sexuality.

I am very much against bullying, or slut-shaming another person.. However, when you engage in reckless behavior in general— time and time again— out in the open and for everyone to see—you’d have to know in your gut that the karma bus will be making its way to you eventually...right? How a woman could mess around with another woman’s husband, is beyond me. Unfortunately, in reality I know it happens everyday. It’s one thing to own your sexuality with other unattached consenting adult, it’s another when you are screwing around with people’s families...literally! She didn’t have the commitment, or share the wedding vows, but she played a part. Tiffany learned a really hard lesson, at the expense of others, and ultimately herself.

To be fair, Tiffany did pay for her mistakes, in a very big way. By the end of this story she’d changed so much, and come to terms with how some of her poor choices had consequences. I felt very sad for her at times, it seemed like she didn’t have any idea at twenty two years old what the word marriage actually meant. Also, how her “friends” used her, and then disrespected her behind her back in such a huge way—it was no wake up call I’d wish on anyone. Horrific!

The ending was so very sweet, and so very Rowan! They both ended up being just about perfect for one another. This book came full circle, and I’m glad I read it I’m the end.

A change in POV

Great reading! Apart from a very well-written story, this author gives us a look into the other side of the coin, the groupie's POV. In the first pages, I was a little disgusted by the promiscuity and depravation these groupies show. Then I realize that they love sex, are secure in their bodies, and they're in it like a game, like a power trip, using the players as a drug, and the players use them to deal with the adrenaline high after the game. I'm pretty sure that most groupies are also into finding husbands or stealing other woman's husbands among the players, but that aspect is not shown here.

Rowen is the new player on the team, the rookie, and comes from soccer royalty, as his father is a legend in European football. Tiffany is a sports program producer and apart from helping the team get publicity, she's also "friends" with the team, meaning "groupie".

The story has a lovely love story, and a sort of lesson in karma. When your actions hurt other people, at some point karma will bite your butt. This couple go through some rough spots but their actions are commendable, their loyalty, devotion and support to each other made for a great love story.
