Dragon's Prey Tielle St. Clare " Book 4 in the Shadow of the Dragon series." Captured and put into slavery, it should be a simple thing for Kayla to escape, if only her dragon would cooperate. But the blasted beast-bored with the males at home-sees Kayla's captivity as the perfect opportunity to find her mate. When her dragon finds "the" man for Kayla, he's all wrong. He's too strong, too aggressive and way too grouchy. He's the perfect mercenary but he'll make a rotten husband. Unfortunately, her body-and her dragon-don't care about any of that and while she wants to hate Captain Sixx, she finds herself unable to resist him. For Sixx, getting the pretty little slave as a gift is more irritation than pleasure. What's he supposed to do with her? He's got enough troubles-including a curse and a snotty young warrior preparing to challenge him-now he's got "her" to deal with. Of course, having Kayla chained up in his bedchamber does have its benefits. So now Kayla just has to figure out how to get home, keep Sixx safe from her father's wrath, oh, and tell her lover she's part dragon.

Tielle (pronounced "teal") St. Clare has had life-long love of romance novels. She began reading romances in the 7th grade when she discovered Victoria Holt novels and began writing romances at the age of 16 (during Trigonometry, if the truth be told). During her senior year in high school, the class dressed up as what they would be in twenty years-Tielle dressed as a romance writer.

When not writing romances, Tielle has worked in public relations and video production for the past 20 years. Tielle moved to Alaska when she was seven years old in 1972 when her father was transferred with the military.

Tielle believes romances should be hot and sexy with a great story and fun characters.

I spent a whole day reading this book until 1am of the next day. It was that good.

The FMC. Kayla was interesting, first a princess, now a slave, but she keeps her pride and her attitude. Very good. What I didn't like was the sudden change from "Zayn must be kidding, he can't be my mate!" to "I must find a way for him to want to stay with me". She hated him, but then she wanted to keep him. There was no process, no falling for each other. Just sex and then more sex.

The MMC. Sixx was awesome. A person who was recently "cursed" and can't enjoy that what he loved before: drinking, whoring and fighting. He has a powerful presence during the whole book, and his struggles with what he was before and what he is now were heartbreaking. He is the character that developed the most, and, I think, the center of the whole story, no Kayla.

Zayn. There is not much to say about this dragon. She is part of Kayla, but she doesn't share her abilities unless she thinks it would be help her find her mate. Kayla has never taken the form of a dragon! I simply didn't like Zayn. The others dragons at least had a personality; she doesn't.

All in all, the book is good, and there are a couple of surprises allong the way that make it worth it. Poor Sixx, he receives the most.

This is the story of Kayla, the youngest in the dragon family. Her circumstance is described at the end of the third book so I'm somehow excited what will happen to her. She is only one in their family whose dragon will not cooperate and not help her escape the clutches of the enemy. Sixx(how do you read his name with the additional x?) is a mercenary, who after tortured somehow killed a healer who helps him and therefore puts a curse that makes him unable to fight and f*ck other women, well except for Kayla (duh!).

Anyway, this is my second favorite in this series. Even though it also has many sex scenes just as the first three books, it doesn't make you gag at all because of the compelling characters and interesting scenes. The ending is somehow corny, and the dragon-human mating only happened there. There are also some female subjugation involved, but overall it is an entertaining story and not a bad way to end this series.

Scorching finale to a great series. Like the others in the series, this one leans toward the erotic end of erotic romance, which is not to say there isn't plenty of story because there is. But there's also lots and lots of very hot sex. All the heroes are very dominant and Sixx is no exception. After enjoying the three male dragons so much, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a female. I ended up loving it like the others, perhaps even more. Also, for the more squeamish among us, the other stories include rare scenes with oral favors performed by the dragons, this one does not.

Certain elements of this story are certainly surprising, which is nice, but I think Kayla's story is the weakest of the four. All-in-all, nothing *really* happens. The plot doesn't travel far.

There certainly is a lot of steam (ahem), and some of that is pretty hawt, but it does get a bit rote after a while, and I found myself skimming.

I don't think I'll be re-reading this. Wasn't really necessary, and I'm not even sure I like the epilogue that much.

Kind of a bummer.

I really like this series because it's quite rare to see an erotic romance with dragon shifters set in a traditional fantasy world rather than paranormal or sci-fi ones. All books in the series are very similar and repetitive, yet they have some unique elements, and the stories grip you. I enjoyed them thoroughly and wish there were more of them (maybe with the next generation).
