Mediated Reality: A Special Issue of the international Journal of Human-computer Interaction

Rate this book
This special issue documents research on topics that represent some of the current areas of research and interest for the emerging field of mediated reality. It starts off by presenting a visual memory prosthesis based on a wearable camera system, which has its motivations in mediated reality. Next a system of great potential use to the visually challenged is described. The next two papers discuss the results of a study conducted to determine if a display and camera system can be used as a low vision aid and explore use models of wearable computing in the context of aircraft maintenance. Finally, the special issue addresses the plasticity of the brain and the process of visual learning, as well as a new kind of user interfaced based on an Internet connected chair.
