I don't know. I just don't know.
At first, during the initial two chapters, I thought "Wow! This is much better than the last one!" and then it just went the same direction. They argued constantly. Only this time it was treated as "positive" because arguing turned them on. Well, I found it to be tedious.
This author has a problem with heroines. They're all maniacs. They have hair-trigger tempers and take their anger out -- violently -- on their mates. That doesn't make them strong female characters. It makes them weaker than just about any doormat you could name. If they can't control themselves they're worthless to everyone else. Weak.
Anyway, I'm not sure what she does under her other pen name (Shelley Laurenston?), but if she thinks being a violent bitch is the same as being "full of spark and fire", then she needs to actually meet some women in person. Because I'm convinced she's never had any actual contact with the gender.
Sorry for the rant. I think what ticks me off is that there are chapters that are pretty amusing. There's some really funny stuff in here, with a dragon so arrogant and unfamiliar with humans that his first words to the heroine are basically: "come with me, I wish to have you." He's actually pretty funny most of the time.
And it does help very much that we actually see them thinking through what they're going to start an argument about so they can launch into a passionate episode. But it would work better if the violent temper-losing and poorly thought out rejection didn't come along with it. We're left with too many negatives that are completely unnecessary.
I'm tempted to read the next one just because I'm on the track, but I'll wait a while. The dragon at the center of it is a smart-ass who's constantly hit and threatened by everyone in retaliation, so I can only foresee more mate-abuse down the road. {insert eyeroll here}

Good. Almost great. Oh yeah, I liked it!
To tell you the truth, during the first few chapters, I was a little hesitant as to whether I should put this book down or not. I struggled with the story and the character of Talaith herself through the first half of the book, so much so that I felt the urge to DNF. But for some unknown reason, I decided to at least delve a little bit further into the story and see if the second half would make up for the first one. Thankfully, the outcome didn’t disappoint me. Things started getting better from there and the remaining 25% of the story simply blew me away.
My major problem with this book was Talaith. Basically, I don’t much enjoy feisty heroines. In this book, Talaith annoyed me to no end. Standing up for herself or being strong is one thing, but being rude or aggressive or way too stubborn isn’t what I call adorable! Honestly, I couldn't warm up to her until near the end of the book.
The constant bickering and taunting that went on between Briec and Talaith got me so irritated. They acted childishly which didn't in any way make any favorable impression on me. However, I enjoyed the overall storyline and also the supporting characters. They were a big surprise for me I can tell.
Aside from those issues, I have nothing else to complain. For the most part, this book didn’t disappoint me. This was my first read by this author but it will definitely not be my last.

About a Dragon was such a fun story with so much action, adventure and steam. It's so hard for me to find good dragon shifter romances but G.A Aiken's brand of humour just works so well for me.
I loved the heroine, Talaith, and the hero, Briec. They were such a fun pair. They had such great banter and sizzling chemistry. The way they fought each other just for the hell of it, made me laugh so hard! Briec's arrogance never failed to amuse me at every turn, and I loved how protective he was of Talaith.
The highlight of the story was definitely Éibhear and Izzy - I can't wait to read their book! I also really enjoyed seeing Annwyl and Fearghus again. All in all, a great installment to the series, I can't wait to read the next book, starring Gwenvael the Handsome!

Not as good as the first one because I found both of the MCs annoying more than cute or funny. But, there was still a lot of funny in the book.
Why they can't be together?
"Why not?"
"Well, first off I'm bound to another."
"Ah, yes. To the man who tried to kill you..Let's see..what were his exact words again? Ah, yes. 'Kill the witch. Burn the witch.' Didn't he hand a child a rather large stone?"
That's right. Our dragon hero dude saves her from hanging and being burnt at the stake - by her husband no less, and she bitches and moans the whole book about how the dragon kidnapped her. I don't know. Seems a little ungrateful to me.
sheesh! A "thank you" would be nice.
And, much like a holiday dinner, we get to listen to these two argue and bitch at each other for the entire book. Seriously? Can we just eat this giant dead bird in peace, Grandpa? Do we have to get into your reasons why this country is going to hell in a handbasket?
yeah, yeah... the calculator is the devil's work...
Here is what saved the book, though: Annwyl the Bloody. Yes, our murderous raging queen comes in at about the halfway point and is as glorious as ever. I love how we get to read her thought process as she is at a boring party stuck listening to a boring man bore her to death:
his nose was excessively long. She desired to break it. Would he cry like a babe, or take it like a man? She'd wager on crying...
Yeah, I often let my mind wander when someone is going on and on about nothing to me too. Maybe I don't think about breaking their noses, but I will from now on. It's stuck in my head now, like a bad song.

The other great part of this series is the relationship between all of the dragon siblings. I love them all and want to be a dragon when I grow up.

Another cranky dragon bites the dust...I mean falls in love
These characters are a CRACK UP!! Sure, there is murder, mayhem and manipulating galore but that's not what makes me revisit and come back for more. It's the unbelievable arrogance of these dragons. If I could have a smidge of their confidence, I'm pretty sure I could conquer the world. Even though there'd be a risk of being burned to a cinder, I reckon I wouldn't mind a world with these dragons in it.
Talaith and Briec do not start their relationship in the best way, especially considering Talaith is married already. Sure, her husband was the main reason she had rope burns around her neck and nearly died from the towns attempted lynching, but that's hardly the point. Talaith was married to the man for a reason, and even being saved by Briec won't change her mission.
Briec wants Talaith, and the silly witch doesn't realise that with every tongue-lashing (of the snarky and caustic kind) he wants her even more. These two will fight each other ... and the God's ... to find their happy ever after together. One tongue-lashing (of both the snarky and sexy kinds) at a time.
Again, Hollie Jackson does an excellent job performing G.A. Aiken's, Dragon Kin tales. Ms Jackson does a very convincing snark, with just the right amount of arrogance these dragon need. I'm enjoying these audiobooks immensely, and I will definitely be going on.
If you haven't tried a G.A. Aiken or Shelly Laurenston story, I highly recommend giving this author a try, especially if you're a fan of snarky humour.

Oh my God. All the characters behave like children xD I really enjoyed this, I thought there's maybe a little, just a teeny tiny bit too much sex for my liking and I got a little tired about the constant, non-stopping sibling fighting. Also I think the book could have been a little shorter, there was a lot of stuff that just took too long. But like I said, other than that, I really enjoyed it. Some parts made really laugh out loud in the middle of the night, thank God the boyfriend's a heavy sleeper! I'm really interested in Izzy the Dangerous, I wonder what she'll become like and I have this feeling with whom she'll maybe hook up? I haven't read the blurbs of the other books and I think this just might make me. I can't stand it, I'm too curious!!!!!

Once again this author has had me laughing so hard I'm practically rolling on the floor. The constant hilarity, the one liners, and the sheer craziness of this family of dragons cracks me up! The over the top zaniness of the dragons and their antics is a nice change of pace from my regular reading. Every once in a while I just want to sit down with a book that is meant to be pure entertainment. I want to howl with laughter and torture my husband by reading scenes to him. This series fits the bill for me consistently.
Talaith is having a pretty rough day. First she gets dragged out of bed in the middle of the night by an angry town determined to kill her for being a witch, and then she gets saved by a dragon! She's stuck flying around with a tail holding her expecting to eventually be eaten. Imagine her surprise when it turns out the silver dragon is actually Briec the Mighty (no he did not give himself that name).
Briec has noticed that his brother, Fearghus, seems especially happy these days. Briec has concluded that it must have something to do with his human mate, and he decides he needs to try one out too. Briec has always been rather aloof from humans. They're pretty far beneath his notice and really good for nothing more than hunting. Not that he's hunting any these days, Fearghus hooking up with Annwyl changed all that. So, Briec sees Talaith, rescues her, and now considers her his.
Briec and Talaith have a very fun relationship. Talaith is opinionated and cranky, and enjoys nothing so much as arguing constantly. She's also an incessant talker, which drives Briec insane. Briec is insanely arrogant and believes that the world was created to cater to him. He is very frustrated by Talaith and her refusal to heed his demands. These two bicker and lust and have hilarious dialogue constantly. The fact that both of them get turned on by their arguing is a definite plus for them. I cracked up watching them invent reasons to get mad at each other. Just so they could make up, of course. :)
I loved watching Briec try to justify keeping her to himself. He couldn't promise her forever, just two hundred years, okay, maybe three hundred. Alright, five hundred, but that was it! But it's not forever! LOL! The fact that he didn't let Talaith in on his couple hundred years plan led to a very cranky situation for Briec.
I also liked seeing the day after the crazy moon. It was quite amusing watching everyone crawl around. I also really enjoyed watching Talaith get over her fear of Briec (or any of his family) in dragon form. The scene where Briec makes her touch his fangs is particularly hilarious.
This is the book that really solidified my love for Gwenvael. How can I not love the little horn dog? Every time I turned around he was trying to spy on them or flirt with Talaith. I loved how confused he was that everyone kept hitting him! I need to reread his story again.

I didn't love this one as much as the first, but that was mainly because I didn't love Talaith as much. But I still enjoyed listening to it. Definitely a good series to get lost in while getting other stuff done.
Briec was the definition of a caveman and I loved him. He was completely unapologetic and clueless to everything female in this book, especially complimenting them..... While in bed.....
Seriously, he could not have been worse at communicating with a female and it was awesome. The poor dragon had no idea what feelings even were!
I'm really not sure how I felt about these two together, mainly because of Taliath. I just never really felt the connection from her to him. And when they were apart, I didn't feel like she "missed" him, or was even thinking about going back to him. I get she had her "feelings", but whatever. The time they spent apart seemed like to much for me. Yes, I get that these characters live 600+ years so a month is nothing for them. But us readers, come on. That's fucking brutal!
This author does right some fun banter between her characters. And I'm so glad we got more of Annwyrl and Fearghus in this story!
In the end, this was another fun story to read. I'm sure I will continue on with the next story, at least at some point. I'm curious to see what is going to happen with some of the other characters, like Morfyd and will Izzy get a book one day?

Briec let out a big sigh behind her, but she ignored him. “And be good, Éibhear the Blue.” She rubbed his snout with her hand.
“Are you going to tell me to be good as well,” Gwenvael asked.
Talaith rolled her eyes. “Oh, why bother?”
“It’s polite.”
She turned from Éibhear and walked up to Gwenvael. “Perhaps. But you are not. Polite, that is.”
“This is true.” He lowered his snout close to her. “Can I get a rub as well?”
Laughing, Talaith reached up and rubbed her hand against the scale-covered flesh between his nostrils, successfully avoiding the fresh wound. “You are a beast, Gwenvael the Handsome. And I can’t wait until some female comes along who will make your life absolutely intolerable.”
“That’s a lovely sentiment. Could you put that into verse for me?”
“He looked like you ripped his heart out of his chest, threw it to the ground, and stomped all over it while singing a jaunty tune.” Annwyl shrugged at Morfyd’s bemused expression. “I might have seen that look before on his brother.”
“Perhaps when you stabbed our father?”
Annwyl laughed. “No. Then he just looked proud.”
Once the couple were gone, Éibhear headed back to the closet, but Gwenvael’s next words caused him to hit himself with the closet door.
“What I don’t understand is why everyone keeps hitting me.”
“You don’t expect me to walk back to my den, do you?”
“But there are horses.”
“I have horses.”
“You do?”
“Of course I do. They’re one of my favorite meals.”

She turned from Éibhear and walked up to Gwenvael. “Perhaps. But you are not. Polite, that is.”
“This is true.” He lowered his snout close to her. “Can I get a rub as well?”
Laughing, Talaith reached up and rubbed her hand against the scale-covered flesh between his nostrils, successfully avoiding the fresh wound. “You are a beast, Gwenvael the Handsome. And I can’t wait until some female comes along who will make your life absolutely intolerable.”
“That’s a lovely sentiment. Could you put that into verse for me?”
“He looked like you ripped his heart out of his chest, threw it to the ground, and stomped all over it while singing a jaunty tune.” Annwyl shrugged at Morfyd’s bemused expression. “I might have seen that look before on his brother.”
“Perhaps when you stabbed our father?”
Annwyl laughed. “No. Then he just looked proud.”
Once the couple were gone, Éibhear headed back to the closet, but Gwenvael’s next words caused him to hit himself with the closet door.
“What I don’t understand is why everyone keeps hitting me.”
“You don’t expect me to walk back to my den, do you?”
“But there are horses.”
“I have horses.”
“You do?”
“Of course I do. They’re one of my favorite meals.”

"About a Dragon" is the story of Briec and Talaith.
When Breic rescues the "witch Talaith from being singed by her husband and villagers, he only expects to be paid back in bed romps and get her moving on. However one thing leads to another; and they both embark on a passion filled love journey.
This book was as funny as it was awesome. Notably,
-the banter between the h and H. It goes on and on and on, especially since the h is a chatterbox, but oh so fun to read
-the antics between the dragon brothers
-Interactions between Talaith and the funny Gwenvael ( always getting beaten up? and serious but lovable Eibhear (super sensible)
-The addition of the lovable Iseabail
-The scenes in Garbhan Isle
-Revisiting Fearghus and Annwyl and additions in their tale
-Interesting development between Morfyd and Brastias
-The panty melting love making scenes and all the vigorous sexing
-All the laugh out loud interactions between characters
-Discovering the mystery behind the deal with Arzhela, Hamish and Talaith
I really loved that the author dedicated portions of the books to all the couples, and the series as a whole moves forward.
I am seriously dead excited for Gwenvael and "the beast" Dagmar.

Briec the Mighty would never admit it, not even to himself, but he is curious about his brothers mating to a human. As a dragon shifter and royalty, he doesn't need to dabble with a mere human but he finds himself intrigued by town pariah Taliath. Magick swirls around her, but from what he can tell she is without any powers.
Nolwenn Witch Talaith is biding time until she is called upon from the goddess. The last sixteen years she has been punished, but when Briec takes her. Briec has no idea about her past and frankly he doesn't care, he plans to have her until he is ready to let her go. Taliath though does not seem appreciative of his efforts and has no qualms about letting him know, problem is all her ranting just makes Briec ant her more.
Loved this, a few laugh out loud moments and definitely intrigue for the next book. Briec is arrogant and at times can't understand why Talaith just doesn't agree to do whatever he wants. Battle of the wills, can't wait for more.

I'm really loving this series and have enjoyed the five different books on it (even though this one is listed as the second). Can't wait for the next one about Gwenval. He seems like a trip.

Talaith is having a pretty rough day, she was dragged from her bed in the middle of the night by a mob of angry villagers and now she's about to burn on a pyre because they think she's a witch. As if that wasn't bad enough the person who comes to her rescue isn't her husband (he was too busy egging on the crowd) but a huge dragon who she is pretty sure intends to eat her for a snack later. Talaith isn't about to go down without a fight though and Briec may have caught more than he bargained for. Breic isn't quite sure why he felt the urge to rescue the human woman, not to make a meal of that's for sure, but he finds her strangely fascinating. Now he's brought her back to his cave he isn't quite sure what to do with her but he quickly realises that he doesn't want to let her go.
This series is so much fun to read, sometimes you just want some brain candy, a story that is pure entertainment, one that will make you laugh out loud and have you giggling to yourself the whole way through and that's exactly what the Dragon Kin series is for me. G.A. Aiken's dragons are completely over the top cavemen and the women who tame them are all fierce, opinionated warriors who are more than capable of standing their ground. Briec is the most arrogant dragon we've met so far (and that's saying something!) but Talaith isn't impressed, she refuses to bow down before any man or dragon and she gives as good as she gets. The pair of them spark off each other constantly and both love nothing more than a good argument, apart from perhaps the make up sex that comes afterwards. They make a great couple but Talaith has a secret mission that she must complete and nothing, not even her love for an arrogant dragon, will sway her from her task. Briec has waited a long time for his mate and he isn't going to let her get away from him that easily though.
One of the things I love most about this series is the family, all of the dragons are completely crazy and their interactions are absolutely hilarious. About A Dragon gives us the chance to catch up with previous couple Feargus and Annwyl along with Briec's other siblings Gwenvael, Éibhear and Morfyd. I love the banter between the brothers and their sister and I can't wait to read each of their stories. This series has been so entertaining and I have a feeling it's only going to get better with each new book.

OK banter.

OK romantic build up and chemistry.
Strong and feisty heroine.
Bipoc main character.
➖ What I disliked:
A little bit repetitive.
(Especially the nicknames the heroine and hero had for each other.)
A little bit slow in some parts.
The bickering was a little OTT at times.
Some parts of the story was a little bit on the formulaic side.
The heroines daughter did not act like a 16 year old but more like a 10 year old.
The instant mother daughter connection was a little rushed and unrealistic and so was the parent/father connection between the hero and the heroines daughter as well.
There was a need for a little more character development and relationship development.
A little bit verbose.

My Review:
Talaith is a powerful witch assassin stuck in a small village far, far from home, like whole different country. Not only does she look different from everyone else, she's taller, smarter and has a bit of a smart mouth. She hates her husband and loathes his accusations even more, but she has ways of keeping him away from her. Unforeseen to her though, those methods are exactly what pushes her in the path of a grouchy dragon bent on keeping her as a prize.
Briec is a bit of a jackass, he really just wants to live in peace far away from his siblings. He wants to enjoy his treasures and occasional visits to the human villages without issue. He likes being a dragon an all that entails. This all changes rather quickly for him though when he see's the beautiful Talaith being prepared for punishment. He's already tried to woo her, but she's rejected him, so his only choice is to simply claim what he wants an to move on. What Briec doesn't realize is that Talaith isn't exactly what she seems and she's keeping a ton of secrets from him that might just kill them both.
It just keeps getting better, it really does. I loved the storyline, it's hilarious to see how Talaith and Breic come to meet each other and the tug an pull that ensues once they're together. Of course your also going to get all of the family drama mixed into the story because it really is a "family style" book where everyone has a role to play. I really loved the fact that characters from the last book are in this one as well, they aren't forgotten about, but remain an important part of the story. All the characters are well developed, including all side characters. This book really is hilarious with multiple romance stories and action weaved throughout the book.

Briec the Mighty’s ego knows no bounds. He does whatever he wants , whenever he wants and no one can tell him otherwise. However, Nolwenn witch Talaith is the only one who can put the arrogant dragon in his place.
When she is roused from her sleep and taken to be burned by an angry town determined to kill her for being a witch, Talaith gets a little pissed off. Especially when one of the angry members is her useless husband. But before Talaith gets burned to a crisp, a dragon saves her and suddenly, she finds herself the property of Mr. Briec the Mighty to use and abuse as he pleases. However, Talaith has more fight in her. It becomes a constant battle between Talaith and Briec as they fight for domination. Neither one is willing to bend for the other and all the while, it’s a bunch of laughs and fun (For the reader. Maybe not so much for them)
I have to say how much I adored Talaith and her tenacity. She was a riot, willing to do anything she put her mind to. Just when Briec shows signs of falling hard, Talaith takes off to find something very dear to heart, leaving Briec feeling not to mighty anymore.
This is one of my favourite parts:
He sighed. A big, long sigh. “She left me, sister.”
“The female you had here? Why? Was she unhappy?”
“I didn’t think so. But I guess she was.” Briec sat up a bit, his claw to his chest. “What is this unbearable feeling in my chest?" It’s driving me mad!
Fighting her smile, his sister reached over and ran her hand through his hair. “That, my sweet brother, is called heartbreak.”
Awww. Adorable, right? And then this happens...
He glanced down at his chest. “Will that be a physical deformity?”
LOVE BRIEC! LOVE TALAITH! And my favourite girl, Annwyl the Bloody makes a lot of appearances in this book.
Bottom line? You’re missing out big time if you don’t check out this series.

G.A. Aiken's Dragon Kin series is both funny and sexy; two things that are actually very hard to do well together! These first two books are actually reprints of her original Samhain Publishing books. I had read the originals in e-book format, but was thrilled when I found out they were releasing them in mass market paperback so I could add them to my print library! (Cause I obviously don't already have enough books!) Laurenston's humor is sardonic and witty...and rather earthy and gritty too, so if that's off putting for you, don't read these. I myself end up laughing out loud, but that's just my sense of humor!
This is the story of Briec the Mighty and Talaith, a witch tied to a bad goddess. Talaith isn't exactly a typical heroine. She's mouthy, bad-tempered, and a trained assassin. She's also being blackmailed by a nasty goddess who took her baby daughter to force Talaith to do her bidding. When Talaith's is rescued from a witch burning by a dragon, she's pretty sure the only reason is that maybe this dragon likes his meals rare rather than well done! But as she spends time with Briec in his human form, it becomes more and more difficult for her to resist him. If only she were free to be happy with Briec...but she has a daughter to find...and a goddess to outwit.
Briec isn't sure what it is about the puny human that he likes. It's certainly not her pleasant personality, nor the fact that she keeps trying to run away! He was sure that after he saved her she would drop to her knees and gladly 'service' him in gratitude...after all he IS Briec the Mighty!
These two will have you in stitches with all their insults and bickering. I was even more thrilled to find out that Laurentston has more books in this series upcoming with the next due out in September of 2009. I'm having a hard time deciding which character's story I want next!

I got five chapters into this and had to give up. I thought the premise sounded interesting and I liked the previous book in the series well enough. But this book felt sort of boring to me. The hero is Briec, a shape-shifting silver dragon who's taken the idea in his head to get a female. He comes upon Talaith, a mysterious woman in a village that thinks she's a witch. She captures Briec's fancy and so he kidnaps her one night when her village is trying to hang her for witchcraft. Briec thinks he's the coolest thing since sliced bread but Talaith wants nothing to do with him. Briec insists Talaith comes with him to his den and with his size and power Talaith can't fight him. But she can sure complain.
And complaaaaain she did. Now I love banter between a hero and heroine usually and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Here for me it didn't. It felt like Talaith sat there and complained while Briec would puff out his chest (or other manly parts) and tell her that she should bow before his mighty.... mightyness or whatever. The dialogue didn't feel engaging or fun to me. It just came off bleh.

Audio June 2018: Fun audio. These two fight a lot, but it's a prequel to their sexy times. I had a lot of fun with this audio and revisiting these dragons and their mates. The narration is done well and the voice are all distinctive. If you love crazy, rude, and over the top characters then you will enjoy this series.

Just ok, nothing special. I had problems with plot development.
STORY BRIEF:
Talaith is a Nolwenn Witch. The goddess Arzhela took away most of her powers and forced her to marry an undesirable human and live in a village for sixteen years. The villagers attempt to kill Talaith because she’s a witch. Shape-shifting dragon Briec sees this and rescues her. He wants to keep her as his lover until he tires of her. For much of the book she insults him and argues with him. He enjoys fighting with her. He likes her anger and resentment. The last half of the book involves gods and goddesses interacting with and using dragons, witches, and humans for various reasons.
REVIEWER’S OPINION (WITH MILD SPOILERS):
The story didn’t thrill me. I wanted it to be over. It wasn’t nearly as good as book 1 which was about Briec’s dragon brother Fearghus falling in love with the human Annwyl. There were two major conflicts between Talaith and Briec. The first conflict was acceptable because Talaith was forced by a goddess to leave Briec to perform a task. But the task had poor plot development. Arzhela took away Talaith’s powers and made her marry and live with an undesirable human for sixteen years. Then Arzhela restores Talaith’s powers and forces Talaith to kill someone I’ll call X. In my opinion Talaith could have been sent to kill X sixteen years earlier. Why wait? Why live without her powers and with this creep for sixteen years? That should have been explained, justified, or changed.
I also did not like the second conflict which was Talaith leaving Briec even though she loved him. Her reason was that he told her he wanted her until he tired of her, and she feared that she would have a broken heart later. This conflict (of breaking up with someone because you fear they will hurt you in the future) is overused in romance novels and ruined the book for me. I can sometimes accept it, but not this time. Other plot developments among the characters were ok.

REVIEWER’S OPINION (WITH MILD SPOILERS):
The story didn’t thrill me. I wanted it to be over. It wasn’t nearly as good as book 1 which was about Briec’s dragon brother Fearghus falling in love with the human Annwyl. There were two major conflicts between Talaith and Briec. The first conflict was acceptable because Talaith was forced by a goddess to leave Briec to perform a task. But the task had poor plot development. Arzhela took away Talaith’s powers and made her marry and live with an undesirable human for sixteen years. Then Arzhela restores Talaith’s powers and forces Talaith to kill someone I’ll call X. In my opinion Talaith could have been sent to kill X sixteen years earlier. Why wait? Why live without her powers and with this creep for sixteen years? That should have been explained, justified, or changed.
I also did not like the second conflict which was Talaith leaving Briec even though she loved him. Her reason was that he told her he wanted her until he tired of her, and she feared that she would have a broken heart later. This conflict (of breaking up with someone because you fear they will hurt you in the future) is overused in romance novels and ruined the book for me. I can sometimes accept it, but not this time. Other plot developments among the characters were ok.

Loved it *so* much I am going to try for the fourth time Book 1 which I did not like the first 3 times I tried...and also move on to Book 3 in the series. This story was a laugh riot - exactly what I always anticipate from S. Laurenston but what I didn't get from G.A. Aiken. Until now. The H/h was a perfect fit - and the H and h as their own characters were delightful. S. Laurenston is so funny even when I tend to want the smex, I still enjoy her tales without the smex. That statement is not something I can stomach with a lot of other 'similiar genre' authors.

Re-read
Still continuing my Dragon Kin binge re-read in order to refresh my memory. I read About a Dragon, exactly 4 years before. My, how time flies so fast!!
I still like it, but I realize that Anwyll and Fearghus's story is still the best, because maybe, there's not many subplot at first. So I lower the rating to 4,5 stars (just 0,5 stars, lol!!) But, don't get me wrong, I still love reading about Briec and Talaith :D. My pet peeves just, I feel a little bit annoyed by Talaith's daughter, Iseabail aka Izzy the Dangerous.
I like how different all Rhiannon's offspring, but also how all Aiken's Dragons are antique. Even they are *try* to be serious, they still have some antique moment that will make me either rolling my eyes or rolling on the floor laughing! I appraise how the world building of Dragon Kin become expanded in this book. Aiken also show how the gods and goddesses are indeed, fickle and cunning deities. Even the good ones!
About a Dragon is another fantasy story with badass heroines and dragon heroes (yep, plural, because even About a Dragon is Briec and Talaith's story, readers will get Anwyll and Fearghus subplot as well) who fallen hard for them and never ever afraid with their woman, always love challenge. I can't never get enough! :)

Leave it to Shelly Laurenston, or as her other pen name, G.A.Aiken to entertain and boost your mood reading when it comes to her books. I literally laughing on my bed (not in the floor :)) ) when reading about Briec the Mighty and the constantly talking and nagging Talaith. So many one liner that will make you snort, or if you're not laughing.. well, I will not blame you. Really :D *smile sweetly and innocently while planning tokill rant why you're not laughing :)) *
What make me laughing more is how much shame Gwenvael, Briec's brother has? He seems like to annoy all people by talk wrong in the wrong time and wrong place. And all of his brothers and sisters (or humans) will smack him, hit him, slash him, claw him, and after that will just said "accident". Really hilarious and downright funny! XD Another dragon kin I love is Eibhear the Blue. He's the cutest dragon I've ever read and maybe the most sane in his family :D.
Talaith and her daughter relationship is warm but Iseabail aka Izzy the Dangerous is really not like teenage of her age. With her hyperactive attitude, she kinda remind me of Blayne Thorpe from Pride series. Just meanie and ass kicking. The myth about the human gods and dragon gods is interesting too. I wonder, if we strip the slapstick humor, the snarky part and the steamy sex scene, I can said that Ms Aiken make a wonderfully epic fantasy story with amazing world building!
Talk about steamy, woo boy, Ms Aiken like her Laurenston's book can write a delicious sex scene. But, maybe because this one first published under Samhain publisher, the sex seems too overrated. Okay, not that I'm complaining. I love my books, especially romance books full of sex scenes. But the early part of this book is about how Briec pursue Talaith to get off her pants. So if readers feel uncomfortable to read the sex scenes, to bad they will miss the great story that follow after that.
My favorite quotes so far :

“No. Does your mouth?”
and this one :
“My husband tried to have me burned at the stake and you brutalize your brothers on an hourly basis,which makes them not want to be too close to you for very long. What does that tell you, Briec the Arrogant?”
“That they’re jealous of our greatness.”
Talaith laughed hard, her face buried against his neck and her entire body shaking.
“What?” Briec asked in all sincerity. “What’s so funny?”
Now into Gwenvael The Whore story. I must prepare myself to laughing so hard, since he have a hobby to embarrased himself :))

Briec ve Talaith'in hikayesi
Diğer kitaba göre biraz daha sönük olduğunu söyleyebilirim ama aynı zamanda bambaşka bir tadda bırakıyordu. Abi kardeş kavgaları bu kitapta daha bir başka oldu. Özellikle yeni katılan karakterler kitaba bayağı bir renk kattı.
Bu kitapta en çok ne sevdfim diye kendime sorarsam cevabım Izzy olurdu sanırım. Kadroya yeni katılan bu insan kızı bence herkesi kendini sevdirecektir.
Tanrılarda işe giriyor bu arada, fedakarlıklar kitabın tema konusu. İlk kitabın hemen arkasından olaylar devam etmiyor. Kardeşlerin karakterlerini daha iyi gözlemleme şansı buluyoruz.
Kitapta bir suikastçı olan Talaith Briec tarafından yakılmaktan kurtarılır, ama bizim kendini beğenmiş ejderha dostumuz Abisinin eşiyle olan ilişkisini kıskanmaktadır ve bu tür bir ilişki istemektedir işte o zaman adını bile öğrenemeye tenezzül etmediği sütlü kahve renkli bayanı mağarasına götürmeye karar verir.

Harikaydı!
İlk kitaptan kat ve kat iyiydi ama ilk kitap gibi yazar nerede bırakmasını pek bilmiyor gibi. Sonu biraz uzatılmış geldi , umursadığımdan değil. Çünkü konu , kurgu diyaloglar müthiş. En çok Izzy'nin hikayesini merak ediyordum , ama diğer yorumları okuyup yaptıklarını öğrenince bütün hevesim gitti. Bunu tatlı,nazik mavi ejdere nasıl yapabilir , little bitch.

Briec and taliath get a lot of shut because they argue but honestly this was one of the reasons I loved them. I’m a feisty woman and my husband is half Scottish/half Italian= loud passionate arguments
So I identified with this couple, one of their “things” is that taliath picks a fight with briec over nothing because it turns them on. I get it.
Taliath is v mature and she is sassy and is a witch 🧙🏼♀️🐲 and he is a dragon mage so they are a powerful couple
I love the different POV as that is one of my happy points in any book. I love the male POV it’s saucy and awesome to hear about how much a lady is driving the leading male mad with lust and love.
