There are so many religions in the world that it can be confusing for a spiritual seeker to figure out which, if any, are true. There are as many gods in mythology as there are people to believe in them. In fact, one of the common retorts from atheists when talking to Christians is “Why do you believe your God is real while thinking all these other gods are false?” In this book, Christian Apologist and blogger Evan Minton gives evidence for the existence of the God of The Bible, and shows why it’s rational to believe the God of Christianity while disbelieving in all others. Mr. Minton argues for the biblical God, using arguments that draw from a wide range of disciplines such as science, philosophy, and history. This book is a must for any spiritual seeker.
Evan Minton is a Christian Apologist and is the writer of the blog Cerebral Faith (www.cerebralfaith.blogspot.com). He has been rigorously studying various theological issues for over nearly a decade. He has engaged in several debates, which can be viewed on Cerebral Faith's "My Debates" section or on YouTube. Mr. Minton has been vigorously defending the faith against attacks from skeptics since 2011.
Mr. Minton's theological beliefs haven't been static for the nearly 8 years he has been a Christian, but the core doctrines of Orthodox Christianity, he always has and still does affirm, such as: The existence of God, God as Creator of all things, the incarnation of Jesus, the deity and humanity of Jesus, The Trinity, Jesus' death on the cross to atone for mankind's sins, and His subsequent resurrection from the dead.
Among the issues that are considered in-house debates within the sphere of orthodox Christianity, Evan affirms Arminian soteriology, Molinism, Partial Preterism (a view of the end times), and Evolutionary Creationism.
Minton always strives in his blog posts and books to write in a way that is understandable to people of all education levels, as he considers himself "An apologist to the average Joe". So he is always thrilled when he hears feedback of how accessible his writing on some deeply complex, philosophical or theological subject was.
Excellent book! Lots of heavy content delivered in a light way. An easy but intellectually stimulating read. My full review will post to Faithful Thinkers in a couple weeks.
Can I write a review based solely on the first 3 chapters? Too right I can. So he gives us all the science (at least from his angle) about the big bang and the physics of the universe (which concludes a deist god, not a theist one) but runs scared of evolution. You cannot give that one to the atheist's for free. Its a cowardly move and especially when he says it didn't happen. You hand in your resignation of your argument right there. You accept the beginning of the universe because you can insert god, to whom you say can fine tune all that but evolution, best leave it alone; as fine tuning could not explain away the billions of years of evolution, of which we aren't an end point. I will endeavor to slog through more of this book but bending science to a god (whom has never made an appearance that can be 100% proven) that started out as a local sun deity (there's more than ample evidence for this) really is a chore.
