Michelle was 22 years old before she learned that she had a twin brother. Apparently he was living in Greece where he had been brought up. She traveled post-haste to meet him there, and Georgi welcomed her with delight. The same, unfortunately, could not be said for Georgi's stern stepbrother Andrea....

Rebecca Stratton wrote two books as a Harlequin Presents author. Writing for the Harlequin Romance imprint, she published 43 novels. She also wrote under the name Lucy Gillen. She passed away in 1982.

Biography from Harlequin Romance #2489 The Golden Spaniard

"When one happens to be an unmarried woman of forty-five and apparently fixed for the rest of her working life in a safe and settled job," Rebecca Stratton says of herself, "it is apt to be regarded as bordering on the insane to suddenly give it all up and become a full-time writer."

But that is precisely what British-born and -bred Rebecca did one August day in 1967. Writing had always been her ultimate aim, and she felt that if she didn't make the move right then and there she'd end her days as "one more elderly lady sighing for what might have been."

When Rebecca Stratton's first attempt at a romance novel was accepted, she didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. So she did both. Then she celebrated with friends and relatives. And then sat down to the job of writing more books - and reveled in it!

This was an average vintage Harlequin. A young woman finds out the true identity of her birth mother and at the same time is told she was separated at birth from a twin that was eventually adopted by a wealthy Greek family. The book opens with her arriving in Greece to reunite with her brother and spend time getting to know him.

I was disconcerted that the main conflict in the story was all about gender bias and the inequality of women in the Greek culture. It was so overplayed, that the story lost impact which was a shame, because the author left the best plot on the sidelines. Had she explored the family dynamics and complexities that come with finding a long lost twin, it would have been a much more compelling story.

The h is 22 years old. She just found out that the cousin of her family that she had always viewed as a faorite aunt was really her birth mother and that she had a twin brother. She found this out after her mother's death. She then set out to find her brother who had been adopted by another family.
She finally traced him to Greece. His family were richand powerful and very traditional in the Greek way of life. They are suspicious of the h, altho her twin brother readily accepted her. The family gradually accepts her and a attraction begins to form between her and her brothers step brother.
This was an ok read but for me but I had major problems with the H who held very traditional views about women. Women are to be cherished loved and taken care of but are to have no say in important decisions, business, or even their own destiny. Men direct and women are to follow, all in theur own best interests of course. They fall in love and we all know that love conquers all in HPLandia but honestly I had difficulty understanding how this HEA could happen or last.

The hero gets the girl to fall for him by a persistent attack on her sensibilities, sexual inducements and family pressure. Nothing overt and objectionable, but there all the same. Though its just another story of a world weary hero falling for an innocent, its more manipulative than spontaneous.

I liked the premise which the author builds around the hero and heroine. Though it loosely falls in the step sis and step brother trope, it is by no means gross and obscene.

The girl has a twin, she discovered that recently. That's because her birth mother gave away her twins for adoption and revealed the truth only at the time of her death. Now the girl is eager to meet her twin, who is the apple of the eye of a wealthy Greek family. So girl lands up in Greece.

Her twin is rapturous about finding her. But his family is apprehensive. They doubt her identity and fear that she may try to separate the boy from his adoptive family. The adoptive Greek family is headed by the hero - who is the twin's step brother.

Hero starts off on a cold note with the heroine. But slowly realizes she is genuine. And also calculates that she will make him an excellent second wife. The first one conked at child birth, you see. The guy sets about enticing the girl quite systematically. And he is greatly aided by the twin brother who would love for his sister to settle down in his family permanently. There is a customary OM and OW to fill some pages.

The girl muses to herself several times about falling prey to the big bad wolf - the hero. But eventually his influence is too strong and she just succumbs. He does make the right noises at the end about being crazy about her. But doesn't ring quite spontaneous and deep.

While the twin boy's adoptive family occupies all the space, the girl's adoptive family hardly gets a passing mention. Which sounds a little one sided.

Ok read. Lacked emotion from the hero'es side. Could have been better.

Boring! I know it was written in 1976 and it's the tradiotinal Stratton, yet lacking.

Blonde Michelle finds out she was adopted and has a twin brother living in Greece. Michael's (or Georgi as he's called now) family clearly isn’t happy to see her. Especially Georgi’s disapproving older step-brother Andrea.

Yet another naive, quivering doormat FMC completely manipulated and overpowered by everyone around her: Stratton's character development speciality.
