All the stars.
Holy shit, Lauren Gilley.
THIS is why you are on my top read/must read author list.
If you haven't read Lauren Gilley yet, you are missing out; because this woman is a true storyteller.
In the "about me" sections scattered throughout various parts of the interwebs, it says Gilley "writes literary fiction which is sometimes mistaken for romance."
But I disagree.
And not because her stories are "romance" (although most of them contain at least a little bit of it) but because, in my opinion, her stories rekindle the the romance between reader and story.
Her books are always so well written and so complete.
Characters are always fleshed out.
Story lines are always fluid and without holes.
And, as more evidenced in THIS book than in any other before, she can write horrific tragedy and the ensuing battle of self without it coming off like contrived drama or a cheap plot ploy AKA a shortcut attempt at good story telling.
We have been introduced, gotten to know, and become more and more invested in Tango over the course of the last four books, and let me tell you, Gilley followed through with all the foreboding material regarding his past...and THEN some.
The way she is able to make every character REAL and depicted in shades of gray - never ALL good or ALL bad - is yet another testament to her story telling talent. Because none of us is all or nothing.
To be human is to be a mixed bag - and Gilley shows up every time carrying it.
Like a fucking boss.
I will read anything this woman writes.
Looking forward to the next one, per usual.

A million "I never thought." stars!
The beauty of being a picky reader is that you are [almost] always guaranteed an enjoyable read. When it comes to Lauren Gilley's books, 'almost' doesn't even apply because this author manages to deliver such quality work with every single book she puts out that it makes me wonder why isn't EVERYONE [who appreciates quality writing] reading her.
If you are a fan of this series and have been following the Lean Dogs since the very beginning then, like me, you probably couldn't wait to get your hands on Tango's story. To say that Lauren has EXCEEDED EVERY EXPECTATION I had for this book and then some would be an ENORMOUS UNDERSTATEMENT! Three days ago, while only 53% into the story, I made this book my pick for 'Book of the Year 2016' and now, after having finished, I couldn't be happier with my choice!
This was probably the hardest story to get through [for me] due to the subject matter. Please do NOT take the trigger warnings author put in the beginning of the book lightly. But as much as this book was ugly, it was equally, if not more, beautiful! To quote the author "... this isn't a book about abuse and horrors. Rather, about surviving them, and emerging stronger on the other side." and this is exactly how you feel at the end of the book ... happier, a stronger believer that human kindness will always, ALWAYS prevail over human cruelty.
I think I've highlighted 85% + of this book because the way this author writes is something to behold! This IS literature. There is no other way to describe it. And, at times, Lauren's ability to say so much with so little is incredible! The epilogue in this book was short but straight to the point and wrapped things up so nicely not to mention made me sob like a little girl!
This is a brilliant addition to my favorite series and a MUST READ for Lauren Gilley fans! At this point in the series, I am not even calling it 'MC romance' any longer because [to me] it's a family saga more than anything else. Since families come in all shapes and sizes, this one just happens to be a family that consists of members of the Lean Dogs MC.

P.S. This is a series with an ongoing plot so I would recommend you read the books in order to get the full picture and don't forget to check out the spin-off series called 'Lean Dogs Legacy' to get more of the Lean Dogs goodness!

5+++++ Brilliantly moving stars
Not sure anything I could say would do this book justice, so I will keep it short. Lauren Gilley will always be a one click author for me, her writing just takes me on a journey with every page. This series has become a part of me and I feel as if the characters are close friends and that is due to the way Lauren writes.
Loverboy is Tangos story, it takes you through his horrific child/preteen years, how he met Aidan and the Teague family and how he became a Lean Dog. The most important time in his life I felt was meeting Whitney as their relationship made him so much stronger.
As usual we still got POV from a lot of the other characters from the series. This is another reason why I love this series, each book is about a single character but giving us POV from all our favourite characters so we can keep track on their lives as well. In this story the Teague family was prominent in this story Ghost, Maggie, Aidan, Ava and of course Mercy!!
Oh Mercy, Mercy, Mercy
Tangos story is not for the faint hearted, it is Heartbreakingly gut wrenching. The trigger warnings at the start of the book are not to be taken lightly.
If you are yet to start this series, I would suggest you get on that ASAP. If you have read the others in this series you are going to love this one.

Skim-read Feb 2020 because I really wasn't in the right frame of mind to do an entire read of this book so my rating and original thoughts remain unchanged.
This is one of those books that although was a must read, was one I kept on putting off because I knew I was going to struggle with it. And struggle I did - huge. And it was worth every second. It was heavy and really hard going at times witnessing what Tango endured and suffered at the hands of people that should have loved and nurtured him when he was just a vulnerable and innocent child. Gilley pulled no punches in getting his story across, but she did it so well. Even so, I still found myself having to put the book down for a break at times, reading the brutality that he suffered.
This really is a superb read, rich with layer upon layer of pure gold story telling, yet raw and gritty with a grab you by the guts hold that does not let go from word one right to the very end. The way Gilley pulled the club in and showed Ghost, Mercy and Aidan at their very best was freaking awesome. I needed to see their total commitment, love, care and support for Tango to balance out the unadulterated horror that man endured through most of his life.
I loved Whitney's unwavering, quiet strength and belief in Tango, how he hung the moon for her and her for him. I also love how their feelings for each other weren't rushed, they were patient with each other and so totally honest too. They're two traumatised people who needed each other as well as their friends to become whole.
This is one of those books that will stay with me for a long, long time. This is story telling at its very best.

I’ve just done a re-read of this incredible series but despite the fact that I’ve read this book once I don’t think I can bring myself to read it again.
It’s brilliant, well written and emotional. Emotional doesn’t even begin to cover it, it’s heartbreaking and I don’t think I can put myself through that again.

Difficult and emotional read.
To say I found this book difficult to read would be a huge understatement at 23% I put this book down and I wasn't sure I'd be able to pick it up again, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm committed to this series and these characters I would have put it down and tried to forget about it.
I love Tango but part of me really hoped he wouldn't get his own book, I wanted his story to just quietly run through the others so when I noticed his book was next I was filled with both excitement and dread.
This is an emotional book as we finally discover Tango's past, and trust me when I say Tango has looked pure evil in the face, it's incredibly well written, we get snippets of his past interspersed with his present and this makes it bearable because while his past is heartbreaking to the point of being unreadable at times his future is promising as he finally starts to find some peace.
This Dartmoor series has proved to be addictive reading and Lauren Gilley has become one of my favourite authors and while the previous books have been good, better than good they've been great with this one (difficult though it was) she's taken it to another level. It's a book that stays with you, once you read this you'll never completely forget it.
Like the other books this has multiple POV's and while its undeniably Tango's book we still follow the life's of the other Lean Dogs and they play major parts.
This book is one of the reasons I don't give 5* often or easily, it's a true 5* read.

I knew going in, Tango's story was going to be heartbreaking. You can't follow the series as closely as I have and not see the red flags. Holy shit I'd seen those flags a mile long, screaming "danger Will Robinson danger". And while his story punches a hole inside your chest, you also feel the healing balm of Whitney. Everything about her radiates strength, nurturing and love. She's one of the strongest heroines I've read. But this is Lauren Gilley a five star (more like ten) guaranteed read. This amazing author has never failed to deliver. She brings her biker A game and the stories that counts. Badass, unity, brotherhood and what I've come to expect in MC. I think by far this has been my favorite but to make that claim official....well hell I'm biased I love all her books. Happy reading.....enjoy!

Now that I'm done wiping the mascara tracks off my face from all the tears I'll try reviewing all the feels and beauty that is Loverboy. If you've been following the Dartmoor series you undoubtedly have tons of unanswered questions about the enigmatic, edgy, brooding Tango. The secrets and scars that lie beneath his surface will shock you, his survival will awe you, and his self-doubted yet fully realized capacity for love will leave you in tears. Big, fat, happy tears.
You can't read Loverboy as a stand alone, in my opinion. It's not the book to start with in the Dartmoor series as you'd miss too much backstory from other characters and from Tango himself. So my review speaks specifically to those who are already invested in the series. To those who aren't my recommendation is to pick up Fearless and start at the beginning. The whole series together and each book separately fares as a bewitching exploration through literary fiction in a sub culture filled with passion and intrigue stripped of decadence down to a simpler kind of life and loaded with complex characters.
So first, the writing. Lauren Gilley's brilliant writing once again captivates. She's engaging and unique. A full circle, third person POV writer. You learn so much about her characters. You feel each and every emotion down to your reading soul. Her words cause visceral reactions within you whether it's a tender moment or a brutal one. It's layered and nuanced with themes and continuously moving forward even when it's going back in time.
The story. Do not hold any illusion that Gilley sugarcoats the travesty that is Tango's history. She absolutely does not. It's a really hard story to read. It's a frightening story to read. The horrors this man went through in his young life will make you physically ill. But the way Gilley slowly unravels his past as she's unraveling the man himself is nothing short of glorious. A cleansing for the reader as well as the man. The peeling and unfolding of Tango's demons comes from all areas of his life. His past, present, and future all collide carrying cargoes of love, brutality, understanding, grief, sickness, beauty, friendship, and healing in it's brutal yet necessary wreckage.
Tango's story isn't for the faint of heart nor is it a continuation of the MC. While so many vital characters to the Dartmoor series are included - it's all revolved around Tango. His story humanized them. He humanizes them. His presence in the lives of the Leans Dogs was accidental yet no less vital than all the rest. The Teagues/Mercy's quest to prove that to him will have you falling in love with all of them once again. Ghost, Mercy, and Aiden have carried the weight of Tango's past for him without regret. How each of these rough and tumble men react when Tango's seemingly sunk for the last time will melt your heart.
With Tango's life crashing all around him he finds a bright spot: Whitney. She's young but wise and knowing. Caring, bold, beautiful - Whitney gives something to Tango that he's never had from someone all to himself. Whitney's character brings hope and light to a dark existence. Her understanding and her strength made me love her so much. She also sheds new lights on the MC hens that was perfect to read.
Above all else the Dartmoor series is about a motley crew of family. Deep bonds of love and loyalty chain them together in a beautifully linked web of trust and understanding. Darkness may descend to each of them but as a unit they stand beside each other in the shadows until the light comes shining through again.
This is a phenomenal MC series. Each book is gripping and provocative. Gilley's literary, intelligent writing is refined and concise taking readers through journey's of plummeting depths and extraordinary highs. Loverboy proves once again Gilley's willingness to push emotional boundaries and take risks. She's comfortable leading readers into the uncomfortable, seriously depraved parts of society that will sicken you all for the sake of preserving her characters integrity and making them whole again. The whole series, this book included, provides a reading experience unique to Lauren Gilley's understated yet provoking story-telling style and her very distinctive, unforgettable characters.

Loved this one so hard!

Kevin "Tango" Estes was seven years old when he was kidnapped by his father and sold into slavery. Loverboy is his story.
This book intertwined the past with the present and far exceeded the GRs rating available to describe it. Calling this a five-star read would only marginalize the flawless writing style and limitless character depth that LG specializes in. At the same time, this story was a bitter pill to swallow. Tango's agony-rich story was long awaited and exposed all of my nerve endings, but best of all, his story is beautifully written, well paced, and ready to cut you wide open! Some areas of his story were sharp and biting, but I knew this book would gut me! I was expecting it to and what a beautiful burn it was!
Favorite scenes? The dialogues between Mercy and Tango after their therapeutic sessions were riveting and revealing. The Tango that we see in this book is very different from the Tango we saw in the other Dartmoor books! Although it seemed he might've been on the precipice of drowning in his insecurities and shame back then, he's completely shattered in Loverboy! The Tango in this story is a crumpled heap of man barely clinging to life! And how could I possibly fall MORE in love with Mercy than I did before?! Ha! I didn't think it was possible, but simply put, Mercy Lecuyer is bae for life! There really isn't another character that compares to him!
The name that can't be ignored in this book? Ian! My goodness, Ian! Truth be told, I crushed hard on Ian when he appeared as Shaman in Dartmoor book II, Price of Angels, and my mini-crushing continued throughout the Dartmoor series. Ian exuded power and arrogance, but he wielded authority and grace like no man could ever! I thought his connection to Tango was unbreakable, but I didn't anticipate that bond to be broken quite as jaggedly as it did in this book. I was heartbroken by their dysfunctional and chaotic relationship while secretly giggling about Ian's intimidation tactics against Whitney. My opinion may fall into the minor league, but I favored Ian above Whitney, although the ending of this story was satisfying. I suppose Whitney's niceness and calm demeanor helped to balance out Tango's darkness and self-loathing, but I thought she was bland and a bit dull.
Honorable mentions? I welcomed Charlie Fox in this book and I was amazed at Aiden's character growth! He was almost unrecognizable with a shoulder full of responsibilities and selflessness primed for his bestie! Overall, this book was well worth the wait!

I was heartbroken by their dysfunctional and chaotic relationship while secretly giggling about Ian's intimidation tactics against Whitney. My opinion may fall into the minor league, but I favored Ian above Whitney, although the ending of this story was satisfying. I suppose Whitney's niceness and calm demeanor helped to balance out Tango's darkness and self-loathing, but I thought she was bland and a bit dull.
Honorable mentions? I welcomed Charlie Fox in this book and I was amazed at Aiden's character growth! He was almost unrecognizable with a shoulder full of responsibilities and selflessness primed for his bestie! Overall, this book was well worth the wait!

Honestly, I didn't want Tango getting his own book. I hoped his story would unfold on a side and he would get his HEA along the way. Not that I don't love Tango. I do. But his story was just too much for me. The heartbreaking past, the abuse, the whoring, mm, mfm, mff, bisexual love triangle, etc.
But I've made it through. Thank God! It was the most devastating in the series and though I felt uncomfortable at times and didn't feel the epic love between Whitney and Tango, I still loved it. I hated Ian till the very end, though I must admit I felt he and Tango had more chemistry than Whitney and Tango. Toward the end Ian "the wanker" crawled under my skin and I was so happy for him I almost cried. LOL
I think what makes this series so awesome are the side characters. Their support, love and friendship is admirable. There are no side characters actually. I can't explain this properly. Every single character brings smth important to the table and complements the story. Just go read this series and you'll understand.

Boy oh boy, this one had so many intense moments - the scenes detailing the hell Tango had gone through had me aching for him (and Ian) and led to me having to take a fair few breaks from the book to get my emotions level again. This is explicit when it comes to the horror Tango went through.

It took me more than necessary, but the violence and pain in this book really got to me.
I'm happy I finished Kevin's story, though, even if it gave me nightmares.
I love these people, I've read so many books about them this year that I can't believe I'm almost done with their stories.
Mercy went from being one of the characters I hated the most to one of my favorite characters ever.
I love everything about him, even how ready he is to hurt someone, if they represent a threat to the people he loves. His relationship with Ava is my relationship goal, honestly; I hope my boyfriend looks at me the same way he does to Ava and their children.
I've often said that the biggest issue I have with alpha males is how overbearing and controlling their are, and the menacing way with which they use their physicality.
I don't think I could ever date someone prone to use his muscles in order to restrain me or keep me under control, it honestly scares me.
With Mercy though, even if he's a giant, he feels comforting and sweet. He'd never hurt Ava and maybe that's the thing that makes him so fascinating to me: being huge and gentle at the same time, knowing that his strength would be used only to protect and not subjugate.
I'm absolutely in love with these people.
I couldn't stop myself, I had to go on and spoil it and... CAMILLE! YAS! We're a bunch of hot and tough women and they couldn't have picked a better name for her!
So happy! I mean, Lauren Gilley managed to use my name twice in her series; if she doesn't love it, I don't know how else to explain it!

Tango Tango Tango.
Over the course of the Dartmoor series I have fallen in love with broken Tango who has quietly existed in the background of his rowdy brothers. We have been given snap shots and hints at the life he endured before Aidan, Ghost and Maggie saved him as a teen....but no amount of hinting could prepare the reader for the brutal truths.
There were moments in this story that I needed to put my book aside and take a deep breath, the subject matter was so confronting and deserved the trigger warnings the author provided. However, positioning Mercy as the witness to Tango's recounting of his sufferings provided a sense of security. And addressing his stories in past tense gave a degree of separation for the reader and made the content bearable....just.
There was a weighty sense of despair in this story and for me, the lighter moments of Tango and Whitney's fledgling relationship just weren't big enough to ease the burden. I struggled at times to understand how Whitney's naivety could help Tango but there was a moment when Aidan visits them, noting their child like hand made Christmas decorating, and sees them for what they are, two kids just trying to cope in horrible circumstances. Aidan's insight gave me a clearer picture of the MCs. The reader can't help but be drawn in to feel protective of both of them.
However, I felt myself at times more on Ian's team, hoping that there would be some way they could finally be together. I was relieved that he also got his closure and chance at happiness, but I wondered why it couldn't have been with Tango....perhaps the M/M trope would be too greater hurdle to fit within the biker realm.
There is no romance to be found here but there is redemption.....and there is revenge.
A sad and wonderful book that will stay with me and a broken hero who won't ever be forgotten.

This is a heart wrenching love story. The author says it is not a love story, but I so beg to differ! It is a love story about how to love yourself so you can in turn love the beautiful people around you.
Life is tragic and there are such evil people out there I cried at work during some parts and I cried at the end. So emotional and touching. You can rise from the ashes and become better then ever.
Tango I love him and he touched deep inside to the heart of everything....love yourself you are worth something even in the darkest part of yourself. Mercy I fall in love with that gentle kick ass giant every time he is part of the chapter. Aiden grew into himself in this book and started acting like the man we all knew he could be: a strong man, father, friend, and, brother. Ghost even got on my good side.
Whitney...wow I loved her character and her strength! She was perfect for Tango! She just grew so much throughout the story and was such a perfect fit with the Lean Dog ladies! Ava darn she made me cry, I love that girl. Sam ever the guiding force for Aiden!

1.5 stars. Eek! I can't believe I gave a Lauren Gilley book such a low score. I love her other MC books. But this one was just a bridge too far for me. It took me aaagggeesss to finish it. I had to take a big break before I was brave enough to finish it. But overall, nup, just too, too confronting for me.
For me this would have been a MUCH BETTER book if there was LESS graphic description/ depiction of what Tango and Ian went through. I just did not need to know that stuff in such detail. Ugh! Made me feel like a perv when I was reading it. Felt like I needed to go and have a very hot shower, and rinse off with disinfectant. I ended up doing lots of skimming of the book, actually.
I know the book comes with 'trigger' warnings from the author, although for me 'trigger' was not the right term. The revelations in the book wouldn't 'trigger' anything for me except extreme discomfort. I would normally never read a book like this except I love a lot of Lauren Gilley's other books. My fav was the one previous to Loverboy, Tastes Like Candy. I totally floved that book and couldn't wait for Loverboy to be released. But BE WARNED! It's NOTHING LIKE Tastes Like Candy. It's horrid and very confronting. And I don't normally like to read books about addicts of any sort, either.
I would have given only 1 star, but the book was slightly redeemed for me by 2 things: It was nice to revisit some of our old friends from other Lean Dogs books, and see what they're up to. The other thing was that the ending was pretty satisfying. It was also nice to see Tango and Ian both getting something positive in their lives, although it was a bit 'pat' after the darkness they went through. Oh well. There's one book I won't be rereading. But in spite of all that, I am still looking forward to Ms Gilley's next book, hoping it's like some of her other, better books.

It shouldn't be a surprise by now that I'm utterly obsessed with anything Lauren writes, but this book. THIS BOOK has to be the most compelling, heart wrenching book I've read this year. I didn't think I would have a book that would top Fearless because of how much I adore Mercy, but Tango ... Tango made me feel. I understood in a way that I didn't think possible, and I loved and hated every single moment inside his head. I loved that I could see him finally, learn all the secrets he kept hidden, but I hated that I felt just as sick as he did. (though I consider this a good thing)
I adored Whitney for him, she was nice and kind and gentle and was what Tango really needed, but there was a toughness to her, just like the rest of the heroines in this series that's just a joy to read bout. Honestly, I just wanted to hug them both and tell them they deserve good things. Especially Tango, I literally wanted to drag him from the pages and set him up in my house so that no one can ever hurt him again. I also loved that we got the sordid but much needed details about Tango and the life he led before he was a Leandog. In these kinds of stories, I WANT to know everything, no matter how badly it hurts because I want to connect to the characters.
I want to be happy when they're happy.
I want to be sad when they're sad.
And I was, during the entire read. I'm so glad Tango finally got his happily ever after—he deserves it.

4 stars. This was a really good book! This is Kev/Tango's story. We knew from the other books in the series that Kev had a history of drug addiction and of abuse as a child when he was a "dancing boy", but it is not fully explained until this book. It is hard to describe this book without some spoilers, so I'll mark them. Kev has hard a hard past. The emotional and psychical trauma of the sexual abuse he endured has haunted him ever since and he has battled sexual addiction/compulsion and substance abuse. Most recently, he was captured by some bad guys and held in a basement where he met Whitney, who was also kidnapped, and he was again sexual violated terribly. He finally hits rock bottom after that and . He has a connection with Whitney after everything they survived together in that basement. Whitney really likes Kev and wants to help him. She and the Lean Dog family vow to bring Kev back and help him finally heal from everything he has gone through so he can have a happy, healthy future.
I loved sweet Kev. It was hard and emotional to read about everything he had been forced to endure. But I loved seeing his growth and healing from his past. I loved that he got a fresh, clean start I loved how supportive Aidan, Ghost, Mercy and their families were in helping Kev work through his addiction recovery and his emotional healing after his suicide attempt. Everyone was there for him all the time when he needed them.
I just love Lauren Gilley's books. I love the depth of character her characters have. These tough biker men, on the outside, with emotional, gooey centers for the ones they love. I love the theme of family, both by birth and by choice. I love her prose and descriptions too. I love the Dartmoor series and hopefully there is more to come from the Lean Dogs. Where do I start...
Another great installment in the "Lean dog" series, though by far the "thoughest" one to read of them all.
So much makes sense now about Tango and the person he is. I never could have imagined the things he went through...my god, horrible, devastating things.
I highly recommend this series to everyone that likes to read good fiction.

I knew Tango's (a.k.a Kev) story would be a difficult one to read and I wasn't disappointed. The things he was forced to do and the things he did to save Whitney are unspeakable. Whitney, while young and a bit naive when it comes to the ways of evil, becomes the rock Tango needs. Mercy, with his own very dark and twisted psyche, becomes the most unlikely of therapists to Tango. Without Mercy, Ghost, Aidan and Whitney, Tango would not have survived. I had my doubts about Ian, Kev's former lover, but he redeemed himself in the end and even might have found a slice of happiness of his own. The only minor fault I would assign this book would be the lack of blood and gore when it came time for those responsible for Kev and Ian's capture, torture and forced conditions. What they received was too easy and I would have LOVED a little torture and pain for those monsters.
Again, Lauren Gilley writes a beautiful story dedicated to the strength of the human spirit and her delightful word weaving is why I come back for more every time. Beautiful!

Toughest book I've read in a while but beautiful nonetheless.
The Lean Dogs MC brotherhood goes beyond their club. These men are truly a family and they love and support each other no matter what.
From reading previous books I knew that Tango's story was going to be hard to read. But I never expected it to be so horrific and yet written in such a way that was beautiful and so incredibly hopeful.
Mercy is my number one favorite brother. The more I read these books, the more I fall for him. He is my beautiful monster.

This is one of the best MC books I have read in a long time. Out of all the books I will admit, the liked this one the most. Loved the story line, the characters were truly flawed. the ups and downs made this one fantastic. Mercy, Mercy, Mercy; there is a place within the story that Mercy does something for Tango(he knows Tango would not be able to handle) and with that I think that as a character Mercy has and will be my favorite.

This was a rough one... the storytelling wasn't as smooth as the previous stories...It was a bit understandable as the subject matter was tough... kid napping, abuse, rape, and coping with the aftermath by the main character. Still a good installment in the series. Still going strong in the MC series.

Ahhh. God. Where to start with this one? I've rehashed this book over in my brain since I finished it 8 hours ago. I'll do my best to give you my thoughts.
First off--Lauren Gilley--phenomenal! She doesn't write a bad book. Fans have been clamoring for Tango's story and she did not disappoint.
Second---Although this is a part of an MC series, this one is not about the club operation. The Dogs are Tango's brothers and even closer, the Teagues are Tango's family. As a family, they support him unconditionally. This love of family is the essence of the story. Family is not always our blood relative but rather those who we pull close and choose to share our lives with. The strength of Tango's family needed to be stronger than his demons. They never gave up on him.
Third----There is a love story here. Tango does get his HEA. But the focus of the book is on a broken little boy who grows into a fractured man. Whitney pays a part in his undoing. They met in an earlier book. She holds part of the glue to put Tango back together. Ultimately she grounds him. She becomes the good in his life. But love shines not only from her but also from Aidan, Ghost, Mercy, their wives and a sweet baby girl who gives him the courage to get better.
I recommend reading the rest of the series first before this book. Also, please review the trigger warnings in the beginning. No bones, this is a dark read. Tango's life before the Lean Dogs was horrific. I appreciated so much, the author's restraint in showing us Tango and Whitney together. The scenes from his youth were so graphic, it was nice to be an observer of Tango and Whitney with more emphasis on letting the reader feel the emotions they experienced when together.
As always with this series, we get to see what the rest of the Lean Dogs are up to. Loved seeing Fox in this one. Not a fan of Ian, although I understand him somewhat better now. I am sure he has more story to tell us. Looking forward to more in the series!

Third----There is a love story here. Tango does get his HEA. But the focus of the book is on a broken little boy who grows into a fractured man. Whitney pays a part in his undoing. They met in an earlier book. She holds part of the glue to put Tango back together. Ultimately she grounds him. She becomes the good in his life. But love shines not only from her but also from Aidan, Ghost, Mercy, their wives and a sweet baby girl who gives him the courage to get better.
I recommend reading the rest of the series first before this book. Also, please review the trigger warnings in the beginning. No bones, this is a dark read. Tango's life before the Lean Dogs was horrific. I appreciated so much, the author's restraint in showing us Tango and Whitney together. The scenes from his youth were so graphic, it was nice to be an observer of Tango and Whitney with more emphasis on letting the reader feel the emotions they experienced when together.
As always with this series, we get to see what the rest of the Lean Dogs are up to. Loved seeing Fox in this one. Not a fan of Ian, although I understand him somewhat better now. I am sure he has more story to tell us. Looking forward to more in the series!

Ahhh. God. Where to start with this one? I've rehashed this book over in my brain since I finished it 8 hours ago. I'll do my best to give you my thoughts.
First off--Lauren Gilley--phenomenal! She doesn't write a bad book. Fans have been clamoring for Tango's story and she did not disappoint.
Second---Although this is a part of an MC series, this one is not about the club operation. The Dogs are Tango's brothers and even closer, the Teagues are Tango's family. As a family, they support him unconditionally. This love of family is the essence of the story. Family is not always our blood relative but rather those who we pull close and choose to share our lives with. The strength of Tango's family needed to be stronger than his demons. They never gave up on him.

This book was just too dark for my tastes. I felt like the really harsh scenes from Tango’s past got more detail than his love story in the book. I liked seeing all the people from the other stories but I just had a hard time investing in the relationship in this book because Tango was so messed up. I just did not need to read the level of detail given to the really dark stuff, so I will probably skip Ian’s book (I don’t like him anyway).
