Often reminiscent of a 200-page, slightly wordy, Ladybird book, this Splendid Book of the Bicycle makes for an interesting read for the most part. The photos are well chosen, and the DTP styling is attractive, although I did find reading certain pages with black text on dark green, blue or brown backgrounds somewhat less than ideal. This book does however cover every conceivable area of cycling, without delving into any one area very deeply. Probably more of interest to fair weather, half-hearted gentleman cyclists like me than anyone with a keen interest or prior knowledge. An enjoyable read nonetheless. 3.75/5

A very interesting way to present the history of bicycles and cycling. Not exceptional, but enjoyable. Highly recommended for all the biking aficionados out there.
