Though the h's ex husband has defrauded her for tens of millions, stolen the new master records for making counterfeit tapes of his daughter's songs and essentially used them and her new H (her new love) is doubting her feelings for ex vs him, the h still hesitates when her ex comes crashing back with an apology.
Oh Sly, I have a soft spot for men who likes cats. He’s very sweet and down to Earth, and I honestly love his musical inclinations. The Story probably settled a lot of issues in regards to Laura’s childhood, she has to face some disappointments and heartaches in order for her to grow as a person. The author doesn’t make Sly the focus of Laura’s growth but she told the story in a way a woman can stand up after everything has fallen apart. Like a pheonix that burns out Laura was able to recover and rise again from ashes.
At least this deviated from formula by showing the heroine's disasterous previous romance from beginning to end, instead of just mentioning it in passing, before putting her together with Mr. Right.
