Match - part one of the Spark series

"The phrase 'couldn't put it down' is grossly overused, and usually an exaggeration - but this witty romantic comedy from Seth King sizzles, and I honestly couldn't stop reading. Humor, romance, and a heat level that will make you blush...this is my top pick in this genre." - Amazon bestselling author Sam JD Hunt

"Sexy, funny, explosive, and oh so 2016...get ready for Seth King to leave you squirming and wanting more." - Relentless Book Chicks

Penn Sparks is a millionaire app inventor whose brash, dominant exterior is hiding a bruising breakup he can’t quite erase from his memory. Hannah Goncalves is a flat-broke grad student who never met a man she didn’t challenge, but has a few weaknesses of her own to conceal, too.

Penn thinks women belong in one of two the kitchen, or the bedroom. Hannah, a proud feminist, happens to believe the same thing about men, and has no problem telling them about it.

When Penn and Hannah collide, and then explode, over the course of one sizzling Manhattan autumn, the stage is set for a gender battle for the ages – if they don’t fall in love first.

Funny, insightful and sexy, Match presents a bold new departure for beloved author Seth King.

This book sounded interesting, blurb-wise. And I was really looking forward to reading it because I thought it was going to be a quick, simple, fun read. Unfortunately, I had a hard time relating to the characters and the story. Despite this being a novella (serial), it took me some time to go through everything.

But worst of all, I did not expect this read to end in a cliffhanger. I thought I was getting a full book. Oh, well. I guess I will have to read the rest (since I already started) but I'm sad to say that I'm not overly excited about it.

What happens when an outspoken feminist meets a billionaire playboy??? Sparks fly!! Seth took a break from writing heavy and heartfelt stories to take a turn into a funny and DIRTY start to his new series. I loved Hannah's character, she's a firecracker. Penn...not so much. He's rude, brash and is used to getting what he wants - until Hannah changes all of that. I'm looking forward to seeing where this story goes and all that is in store for Hannah & Penn. interesting start to a new series. And I love the tie-in to The Summer Remains!

I loved this book! It was a fun, insightful read that made me laugh out loud and so hot in some parts that I actually blushed!

I'm a huge fan of Seth and loved his first 2 erotica books so I couldn't wait to read this. He's such a talented author that whatever genre he writes in, he writes it brilliantly.

Penn Sparks developed the app Spark (the app used by Summer and Cooper in The Summer Remains) which has made him a billionaire and it's not your typical dating app, its purpose is for hook ups. Having recently suffered a devastating break up, Penn decides to use his own app to meet women, hook up and move on.

Hannah Gonclaves is a poor grad student who challenges every man she meets with her feminism but she still makes a bet with her sister, one she's determined to win.

What happens when a sexist womaniser meets a proud feminist? The Match is struck and the spark ignites but in the ultimate battle of the sexes, will someone get burnt by the flame?

I highly recommend this book whether you're already familiar with Seth or not. Penn and Hannah are explosive together, here are a few of my favourite quotes.

"I don't hate men, I hate assholes. I love sex."

"No touching. I'm in control now. I'm not taking orders any more. " "But my dick's in you."

She sat straighter in her chair, glancing down at my crotch. She wanted me to kiss her, and both of us could sense it.
"Well then," she said after a moment. "And what do you look for in a match?"
"Me? Good pussy and an inability to commit."

"Thanks for the concern, but I'll cross the bridge of love when I get to it. Or I'll just burn it down and piss on its ashes, either one. Until then I've got a lot of vaginas to lick."

I would have rated it 6/5 but it left me hanging, so it's a 5/5.

I've read The Summer Remains and Honesty first, now the "Sparks" makes more sense ❤

Penn is a hot mess. He admittedly had a s***ty childhood but doesn't have much insight in how that affected his personality. He invented a social app called Spark that is primarily used for 'hooking up'. The app went public and Penn is now a billionaire. Things are looking up...so hot. He bought a super Harry Winston engagement ring for his beautiful, key word beautiful, girlfriend and she said, Sorry, I'm in love with a woman that I met on Spark and out she went with her pre-packed luggage...now a millionaire because of her connection with Penn and his app. Once again, he wasn't important. He has no hobbies, no life...work and one-time stands...sex. Not even one night stands because most often there isn't even a night involved.
Hannah, a twin who looks like her sister but acts very different, is the ultimate feminist who just graduated from college. She was mistreated and disparaged by her father and believes that the dating app generation is making men into sluts. Following a bet with her sister that she can actually have a relationship and more than that, make a nice guy fall in love with her, despite her outspoken behavior, Hannah signs up for Spark and starts viewing the possibilities....No, No and Oh, Hell No! Somehow, Hannah agrees to a date with one man, named Penn....not knowing that he is the creator of Spark. Oil and water mix better than Penn and Hannah but maybe that is a good thing...Hannah took over and showed Penn some new possibilities and now he really wasn't satisfied by his continuous casual hook-ups at all. This story is in part just a plain riot but also deeper as we learn about the background of the main characters and understand why they need.... That's it for now. Buy the book. You won't be sorry.

Penn Sparks a man that has been burn or hurt by every women in his life. So why not just give up a sleep around with every women in New York. When you have access to every available women at the palm of you hand by opening a app on your phone. Well that works great until he meet his match Hannah Goncalves she is a intelligence fearless self-assured and self-confident and not afraid to take what she want, and let me tell you she take what she wants and leaves him hanging. I Can't wait to see what ahead for these two characters.

I wanted to love this because I love Seth's books, but I just couldn't get into this one. I couldn't find anything I liked about either character. Penn was gross and Hannah just kept coming back for more. I was rooting for them to not get together. I just kept hoping Hannah would realize he was a tool and move on, but no. He supposedly can't stop thinking of her, but then goes on a bunch of what are basically sex dates. I'm sad because I don't want to give a bad review, but this one just wasn't the one for me.

I enjoyed getting to know Penn and Hannah. They aren't your usual love story characters. They are kinda anti love but yet they seem drawn to each other.
I loved that a dating app is the reason the characters even meet because now a days it seems like now a days it is the most common way people meet. It made the characters more believable.
This book is cute, funny and sexy. I was drawn in from the beginning.

It was an interesting read. A man who who created a hook-up app meets and woman who despises hook-up apps and the whole concept of a hook-up. Sparks are definitely going to ignite.
