According to Webster’s Dictionary the definition of the word Broken is violently separated into parts. SHATTERED.
Yup, that pretty much sums me up. How do I handle things? I find my answers at the bottom of a bottle of Tequila and sleep with random men.
How did I get this way? Well, four years ago I made a decision that cost me the love of my life. I can't undo what I did to drive Garrett out of my life. I haven't seen or heard from him in four long years. But he still haunts me in my dreams or should I call them nightmares at this point? No matter how much booze I drink and how many men I sleep with, nothing fills the void. I feel like I am existing but I’m not really living.
I’m trying to get my life back on track. Well that was until. . . . Garrett walked back into my life. His reappearance threw me into another tailspin.
How do I put the pieces of our broken hearts back together? All before he walks out of my life again... this time for good. Or am I simply destined to just be Broken?

Aaw, what an adorable story. I feel odd saying that this was angst-less, because it deals with alcohol abuse, sex addictions, abortion, debilitating injury and other dark issues... but for some reason, it didn't rip my heart out.
It was a speedy, super easy, loveable read!
Leila says she isn't a slut. She absolutely, 100% is. She has her reasons, granted, but she is still a slut. After having her heart broken by the love of her life, she spirals into a pit of sex and alcohol abuse to sooth her wounds.
My self-destructive behaviour and self-hatred had hit an all-time high.
Four years on and she still hasn't found any healthier coping mechanisms. Just when it seems that it might be impossible to get over the gorgeous Garratt, he shows up back in her life.
Garrett... YUM!!! Tattooed, hot, wounded Marine! Certainly wouldn't kick him outta bed in a hurry.
I was here with the most amazing man. He didn't even care about my past. He wanted me exactly how I was, even if I was broken.
Leila and Garrett's reconnection was painful in a lot of ways. They had various demons from their past to over come and Leila had some serious issues that she had to overcome. But it was drawn out or excruciating. It simple followed their journey as they righted all their wrongs and fell back in love... or, more accurately, rekindled the love that they never fell out of.
"My world stopped when we were apart. I felt like I had nothing to live for. Now you are back... Now you are back and I'm alive again."
And things are seriously steamy in the meantime! Phhhheeewwww! Some of the sex scenes in this are off-the-scale hot! Whipped cream, sexting, battery operated bunnies... to name a few of the more memorable scenes.
"I love you Garrett."
"I love you too," he laughed. "God, I fucking love you."
I felt that some parts of the book were glossed over a little quickly and it might have benefited from a climatic emotional breakdown or something, somewhere toward the 75% mark. But other than that, I really enjoyed the book.
I cannot change the decisions that I have made in the past, but I can learn from them and make the most of the life that I am living now.

So I had the great honor of reading this book. Let me start by saying it exceeded my expectations ten fold. Leila is a character unlike any I've read. She is classy/raunchy. I love her. Garrett is one of the most sweetest fictional characters ever. The way he came back into Leila's life and what he did to help her heal and heal himself was incredible. These two clearly loved and love each other with their hearts, souls and bodies. A perfect power couple. The sex scenes were spicy, sexy, tasteful and got the vadge tingling. Also they had amazing and adorable banter back and forth. All in all this book was the most beautiful book I've read to date and it will be the biggest hit of 2013. I promise you, you will NOT be disappointed. As much as I love novellas. I love a complete book most and this did not need how many to get their story across, the ending was tasteful, beautiful and wrapped up. Christa amazed me with this story and she will amaze you as well and touch your heart. Not to mention one of the hottest men on the planet inspired a major character in this book. He is an inspiration and a truly woderful and beautiful man. So again this is a MUST read! Best seller right here!! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I'd give it 10, if not more and all my thumbs up. ;-)

I know a lot of you are liking this book and I may be the odd man out, but I trully didn´t like it.
In the beggining I like the heroine but as the story progressed I could not disagree with her, about her being a slut. Really, there are many ways to be broken, but the way she acted...... so, she was a complete wreck unless she was with her man? And she never solved any of her problems, they just magically dissapeared when they got back together. No, not my cup of tea at all.
And in the end everything was magically fixed. No real therapy just an ocassional session without a diagnosis, no AA. So the message is, no matter how fucked up you are if the love of your life comes waltzing back into your life all your problems will dissapear.

4 stars for the first 40%
2 stars for the last 60%… but let me explain...
The writing was good in this book and it all started off really great. This troubled woman who never got over her past and used sex and alcohol to fill a void. I loved that she bumped into her ex, a marine amputee, at a wedding and he's with another chick. I loved that angst and build. And then...
Nothing. I think my issue was that the happily ever after happened way too fast. By 40% in they were back together and it became just a play by play of every day life. I was hoping for some climactic event to throw things off... Amanda or Marie showing back up and causing a riff (the one time Marie did show up was by no means a riff, she had zero effect of the course of events.)
Maybe I'm alone out here on a limb that just loves to feel some pain while I read. It makes the happy ending that much sweeter. This was just the story of two people that found their way back to each other... without much difficulty... And a few sex scenes (ok, if I'm being honest, one too many sex scenes... it was all a bit much and added nothing to the story but extra pages)
I look forward to reading more by this author because I enjoyed her writing. I just hope there's more angst...I want the bottom to drop out from under me before it's all sunshine and rainbows.

Well...unfortunately this one just did not work for me. I was never able to feel a connection to the story or the main characters. It's like I was just reading what happened and not feeling what happened, feeling what they experienced.
I was intrigued by both the cover and the synopsis. Laila and Garrett met in high school (he was older)--but their relationship is shattered/broken by one wrong decision. Laila uses alcohol and men to cope with the loss of Garrett. Garrett uses in pain (in the form of tattoos) to cope with the loss of Laila.
A chance meeting 4 years later brings them back together and through flashbacks we learn what it was that tore them apart. In the meantime they are working on their current relationship.
I don't know, I can't really put my finger on it...several times I wasn't even sure I would be able to finish it. Maybe it was the writing style.

WOW! I've just finished an ARC of this fabulous book by new writer Christa Cervone.
It was a privilege and an honor to be asked to read and it did not disappoint. You will fall in love with Leila and definitely add Garret to your book boyfriends. What's best is that Garret is based on a real human being ~ the very sexy Mr Alex Minsky.
Can't wait for its release so that you all get to share a wonderful read

Knowing that you can make 1 decision and it will completely change your life and the path in which you were on is what happens to Leila. In love with Garrett and knowing that she was going to spend the rest of her life with him, or so she thought. She made that one decision, that one choice that changed everything. After she tells Garrett what she did, knowing it can’t be undone, he slowly starts to pull back and shut down. Leila is losing him and there is nothing she can do, the damage is already done. The love they once had is broken and Garrett leaves without a word, until 4 years later he shows back up into her life with his own secret. Will they be able to forgive the decisions they both made in the past or will they continue to live their separate lives with pieces of their hearts still broken?
This story touched my heart. It’s raw and will send you on an emotional roller coaster. I felt Leila’s pain and her loss. It gave me goose bumps and left tears in my eyes. I could tell from the first page that their love was something worth fighting for. It was strong and I had hoped that they would find their way back to each other. There were times when I wanted to smack Leila upside her head and tell her to go fight, fight for her love, fight for Garrett. It took me about 3 hours to read this, I couldn’t put it down from the first word to the last sentence I was engrossed with every word written on every page. Garrett’s passion and love for Leila touched my heart and he held onto it throughout the entire book. It’s a beautiful story about 1 couple who lost everything and after 4 years of living a life with a gaping hole decided that they deserved their love and they would fight like hell to have it.
At times Christa had me feeling like this.....
And then other times she had me doing this....
And alittle bit of this....
Oh and she had me with this......
And than the gloves come off and she brings us...
When your past with someone is so strong yet so Broken can you really ever move forward? This couple, their love was worth fighting for, even with everything that happened in their pasts and the roads that were taken they found their way back to each other and all they had left to do was see if they could pick up the pieces of their broken hearts and get back something that once was so right or come to terms with their pasts are broken beyond repair and the roads they had been on apart are the roads that they will continue to travel separately.
This is the first story I have read from Christa Cervone and if this is the work I get to look forward to than I will be a fan for many years to come. Can’t wait to read more from this amazing, talented author and see what other stories she puts to paper for us to enjoy.

Four years ago, Leila made a decision that cost her the love of her life.
Over the years, sex and alcohol has almost become a necessity for her to function. It temporarily fills the gaping hole left when her heart was shattered.
Her self-destructive behaviour and self hatred has hit an all time high.
Using alcohol and sex to soothe her pain.
She is lost and wants to get back to old self.
"I've had this empty feeling inside of me for so long, I don't know what it feels like to be whole. I keep searching for someone to make me feel like he did but no one does."
Garrett was the love of her life.
But after a decision that breaks Garret's heart he breaks up with Leila, leaves and joins the Marines.
As Leila slowly tries to get her life back on track, Garrett walks back into her life with his own regrets and secrets.
You learn their history with flashbacks and you really do feel the emotion between these two. You can see that their love is something worth fighting for, but after one life changing decision that left two people Broken, can they find a way to forgive one another and love again?
Their journey is sad but beautiful, their Chemistry is undeniable. The sex scenes were smoking hot. (OMG the sexting and phone sex! OFF THE CHARTS)
I loved how their story was told.
I was on the sideline cheering them on. You want them to have their HEA.
I kept looking at my page number thinking ok I just know something was coming, something huge but it didn't come. I didn't know what to think of that. In the end I loved it!
They had enough emotional damage they didn't need this massive big blow out.
They were so real and relatable.
Broken is a story of Regrets, Heartbreak, Honesty, Love and above all else Forgiveness.
Loved it! Read it.

I was privileged enough to have the opportunity to read Christa Cervone’s debut novel Broken. The tale of Leila and Garret was gripping from the start and was a story that had you anticipating every page turn.
Leila is a bit of a complex, hardened character that makes you wonder what has made here that way. The memories of her growing up don’t add up to who she is when we meet her, but when Garret enters the picture, the Pandora’s Box is opened. Their history comes to view and you begin to root for them.
Garret is the sexy military man that girls love, but he wasn't always that way. The roads that brought he and Leila to where they are in life are winding, and through memories you are brought along for the ride.
The writing was honest about the characters in regards to who they are, the things they’ve done and the consequences that were suffered. The book throws you for a loop when what you think happened turns out to be something different all together. The accuracy of details in certain situations in the story leaves you believing that this could be more true life rather than fiction. There are things that will make you laugh, cringe, punch your heart, and then make you smile again. I personally love this type of story, and the style of writing that the author has definitely leaves me wanting to read more from her.

Just finished reading Broken..a riveting and scorching hot first outing for author Christa Cervone. One of my favorite things(besides the steamy love scenes) about this book is that the featured female character, Leila, is flawed. All too many times the romance/erotica we read features a pure, virginal female who is, in a lot of cases, a victim. That gets boring since that scenario is not a realistic view. In Broken, Leila is exactly that...broken; and somewhat by her own design. Then there's Garrett...and what's not to love about him? He's every woman's dream...A Marine, strong enough to be a sensitive, emotionally demonstrative, attentive, generous, funny, compassionate, and passionate guy. Christa Cervone wrote her characters in such brilliant detail that you feel as if you know them personally. Leila and Garrett have found different ways to cope with their brokenness and I was swept away on their journey to fix themselves and their love. One of the best reads I've had in ages!!

Do you believe that one choice and change everything forever. What Leila made a decision it would break apart her world as she knew it. Four years of drinking and one night stands, Leila finds herself in front of the one love she ever knew. Garrett spent that same four years trying to forget about Leila. They are miserable and broken being apart but together can they mend the hurt and loss that broke them apart in the first place? This book will make you laugh, it will make you cry and it will make you root for true love to last. It's hot and heavy and steamy all over! I loved every minute of it!

This book is an awesome read. To me, it was refreshing. I'm still processing it lol. Just know that I loved it. Garrett is yummy and understanding and amazing and Leila isnt your typical 'get away you bastard' type of girl. She's open and willing. If you havent read it...please do so...like now....go on....

I was provided an ARC in exchange for my honest review of Broken. Well let tell you ladies the minute you start reading Christa doesn't hold back and your immediately swept into a steamy .......................
Ah Leila, poor broken girl, still carrying the pain of her first love Garrett with her. She turned to sex and alcohol as an outlet to deal with the pain. At first it was something I scratched my head about ~ 4 year relationship that started at the tender age of 16 ended two years prior and she was still "Broken" but I came to find out there was much more behind her brokenness than just losing the love of Garrett.
Leila is a wedding photographer for Katie, a photographer who is sought after by many soon-to-be wed couples. Leila is photographing a wedding the day after the opening of the book. When she arrives the way she described this particular "Bridezella" literally had me...
Oh yes, it was hysterical in parts but then bam who is there and knocks Leila for a loop ~ yes ladies Garrett! Garrett the sexy as hell brown-eyed Marine with tattoos! To say I was drooling would be an understatement ~ heck I would've done this..........................
But don't think for a minute that things were "peachy-keen" from that point on out. Oh no, there's a lot between the two that needs to be aired and there is something's that will even shock you when you learn of what tore them apart in the first place. I loved the Leila recognized her destructive behavior and was working on herself. She needed that but when her and Garrett did connect boy it was.......
I don't think these two could've kept their hands off each other even if they wanted to! Well, in order to have a future you must get past the "past" and when the reason for Leila's brokenness is revealed I was ............................................................
Wow! Didn't see that coming and too damn young to handle that which will make you......................................................
Broken strays from the usual plot format that gives you the "secret" and all hell breaks loose. No we get to see what happens when you communicate and what can happen when a couple is meant together. Broken will leave you .............................................

Broken was a 4.5 star read for me! There were parts that I loved and would consider 5 stars. I loved getting to know Leila & Garrett and watching their relationship further develop. It was emotionally moving when Garrett relayed his time in Afghanistan and it certainly had me.............................................................
Broken will give you the HEA some people are looking for in a read and in one book! I encourage you pick this one up if your looking for a sweet read that shows how one couple worked through their issues to find their sweet ending!!!!!

I was certainly doing this at the very end of Broken...............
Broken was a 4.5 star read for me! There were parts that I loved and would consider 5 stars. I loved getting to know Leila & Garrett and watching their relationship further develop. It was emotionally moving when Garrett relayed his time in Afghanistan and it certainly had me.............................................................
Broken will give you the HEA some people are looking for in a read and in one book! I encourage you pick this one up if your looking for a sweet read that shows how one couple worked through their issues to find their sweet ending!!!!!

I was chugging along nicely. Garrett and Leila were in love when they were younger, truly madly in love. Four years have gone by, and you know something awful happened. Both characters are screwed up beyond belief. Leila drinks to the point where she cant feel anything, and then sleeps with random guys.
Garrett joined the marines to get away from Leila. He couldn't stand to be in the same town with her and see her, and not be able to have her. He was on a tour in Afghanistan when his he was hit my a roadside bomb and he loses his leg.
Okay so far so good.....that is until Leila takes Garrett over to her moms for Thanksgiving. Here is where it all goes horribly wrong. Leila's mom hates Garrett. All she knows is that Garrett broke up with Leila, and Leila went into a state of depression. Garrett doesn't understand the hostility that she has, and then he figures out that Leila never told her mom the true reason that they broke up four years ago.

Leila has an abortion at 17. Garrett wanted the baby. He wanted them to have a life together. And there Leila is being selfish and aborts the baby, only telling him a week later because her guilt is too much for her. So what does Garrett do? He breaks up with her and leaves. Done finished.
And here is where I stopped reading. I do not, and will not ever condone abortion. A baby is a miracle. There are people out there who cannot have babies. And here Leila is aborting one because she wants to go places. In my honest opinion, when you have sex, you are making a conscious decision. You know that there could be consequences to your actions. Birth control is NOT a 100% effective. Leila wasn't raped, she wasn't dying, and the baby wasn't unhealthy. Leila was just a selfish cow who didn't think about anyone but herself. Do you honestly think that Gabe would be okay with you killing his baby? And at the end of the story they have another baby. How do you choose to have one baby, but kill its sister/brother? How will you explain that to her later on down the road?
Okay, I am sorry for ranting, but this is one of my hot-buttons. Needless to say I stopped reading at about 60%.

the premise of this book was very interesting to me. it was a realistic situation where a couple dates and the girl has an abortion and it breaks the couple up. i like that there was no 25 yr old female virgin with a rockstar (with countless notches in his bedpost) who was pining after her. i also thought it was realistic how she handled it by becoming a self-medicating "whore". i know a lot of people that abuse themselves this way after something as traumatic as an abortion. however, the good part ends there. whenever i read the books where the couple makes up/breaks up throughout a book, i lose interest and think enough is enough and there has to be a book out there that cuts through the shit. this book proved me wrong. after going through such a horrible ordeal and abusing herself for four years, she starts to see a therapist and is miraculously cured almost immediately. garrett forgives her without question, and some chick shows up half naked at garrett's door and leila answers the door and doesn't even bat an eyelash. i just think that as real as the book started out, it just went south...fast.

Yeah, not so much. I'm not sure where all these "blew me away" reviews are coming from. This book was extremely underwhelming. I liked the characters, but they were really underdeveloped. I liked the plot, but it felt very rushed. The entire story felt like a train that kept tryyyyying to chug its way up the hill- coughing and sputtering and straining, determined to go somewhere, and damn if I wasn't rooting for it to finally gain the momentum to push it over that hill!... But ultimately, it never did. I really hate leaving bad reviews, but this book was just super flat.

This book is so hot. Not a lot of outside drama, but a whole lot of hot sex. The reason behind everything happening was not what I expected. Loved Garrett and Leila. Finally a female character who knows why she flys off the handle. This book is worth reading.

You have to figure that out pretty quick when you bump into them at a wedding you are working at. Leila's past floods her with emotion when she bumps into her ghost from the past, Garrett.
Garrett is just as thrown off by the encounter and keeps popping up in Leila's life.
Can Leila handle seeing him? Can she handle not seeing him?
Can they forgive each other when their past continues to haunt them?
Can they fix what is Broken?
I am not telling because you need to enjoy this ride of love, second chances and forgiveness.

I had read this book a few years ago when it was originally released, when I agreed to review it I was unaware of the fact it was a re-release, probably my own fault though I really don’t recall seeing anywhere it was a rerelease. When I had originally read it I rated it 4-stars on Goodreads: I’m not sure if I meant 4, 4.5, or 3.5 not that it really matters. I did learn a lot about myself from rereading this, years after my first read and having no awareness of what had happened due to the passage of time.
I think I have changed a lot as a person over the course of the last three years or so. Things like mental health and recovery have become even more important to me. Growth and change of character should reflect the character’s mental health journey as well. I get frustrated when a character is either described as having, or admits to having some sort of mental health issue and then the recovery is barely touched on in a story. This is something I have touched on, briefly, in other reviews, but I will go more in depth with it here, as Broken started with a strong effort to showcase her recovery, but then put it to side in favor of unnecessary sex scenes.
As I stated, Christa started out really strong on Leila recovering from her self-admitted sex addiction and alcoholism, as well as what was likely a pretty severe depression. She met a psychologist. She talked, explored her triggers, her past, seemed to be making strides to recovery, then Garrett showed back up and her recovery fell by the wayside. Not that it wasn’t mentioned again, but all of the steps she had taken to improve her well-being seemed unimportant. She drank, though maybe not as much. She went back to having tons of sex, with admittedly fewer partners, but she was still doing something that would have likely derailed her recovery. She fell almost exactly into her old patterns, but it seemed those poor decisions were excused because they were done under the guise of ‘being in love’.
This overall lack of concern for her recovery made the book frustrating for me. I understand Broken was a romance. I understand that mental health issues aren’t as important to other people as they are to me, many people are happy as long as they get a good love story. If that is all you’re looking for, this is a really great read. For me, I want need more. I need the characters to have a growth arc. I need to see how they have changed and become better, wiser, healthier than they were when the story began.
The very title of the book, Broken, led me to believe there would be a path to recovery, to getting fixed and it just didn’t deliver. Not for me. I hoped for more. That being said, it wasn’t a bad book. They love story was really excellent. Garrett and Leila seemed to really need one another and were both better together than they were apart. I know that is all most readers want, and this book really delivers on that front; it just wasn’t as well-rounded as I hoped it would be.

When I first heard about your book I was curious, and when I read the synopsis I knew it was something that I was interested in. Then when I learned that you tweaked the story just a little bit since finding out about Alex Minsky's story the more my curiosity grew, I DEFINITELY had to read this book!!
Its nice to see a story where the heroine is the one that's troubled, the one with issues. Usually its the bad boy with a past, and as much as I love those stories, the change is good.
What can I say about Broken? I LOVED IT! I seriously devoured it and lost track of time. I stayed up until 2 am reading it and couldn't stop thinking about it that I woke up at 4:30 am and continued reading it!! It was realistic, something that I think people can relate with. Especially Alex's story in being in the Marines, and the tragedy he endured with his injuries and losing his leg.
Speaking of Alex Minsky... I am for one glad to have a face to a story. Often you're just left to let your imagination run wild of what this character would look like. To me, Alex Minsky is Garrett Levine, I cant imagine anyone else. With that being said, let me tell you I couldn't help but blush at some of those hot sex scenes! I felt like I should look away and stop reading, but boy did I not want to!! I felt like a peeping Tom! Thank you for keeping those scenes real, not over the top, and crazy. Also for using real names for those body parts unlike, sex or sweet spot, and folds... Really? They are so overused and so unsexy.
Not only did Christa give us a real life person to put a face to the character, she also gave us the music from her inspiration. I never heard the song Give Me A Reason from P!nk before until Christa mentioned it. When I found out I listened to it repeatedly (yes obsessed, just a little), but when I read Broken and listened to this song it fit the story so perfectly.

Just a second, we're not BROKEN just bent
And we can learn to love again"
After one life changing decision that left two people Broken, can they find a way to forgive one another and love again?
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would, you deserve it!! There is nothing about this book that I didn't love... Okay, there is one thing, I wish it didn't end! ;) This is a definite FAVORITE of mine for sure, and I plan on rereading and buying it when it's out!! Congrats Christa on a BEAUTIFUL STORY, I wish you lots of success with Broken.

This book was unfreakingbelieveably awesome. Wow.
First off, I loved that the necessary Stupid Mistake/Big Misunderstanding was set in the past. This way, when the characters reunite, there are no gigantic hidden obstacles to their (amazingly) happy ending. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. The other shoe always drops. Guess what? No extra shoes.
Leila is an amazing narrator. She is, in her very own words, a drunken whore. The alcohol and meaningless sex are what she uses to fill the void in her heart after Garrett broke up with her several year s past. Naturally, it doesn’t work. Leila made a gigantic mistake that destroyed their relationship, and Garrett reacted quite appropriately. I think I would have reacted the same way in the same situation – maybe worse. But she doesn’t need anyone else to punish her – she’s been doing that quite well for the past 4 years. I found her to be very real and likeable. Even with all her screw ups, she never became unsympathetic, because she knew that she had screwed up (which is a nice change from MCs that fuck up left right and sideways and never get a clue).
Garrett was fantastic. He was flawed, yet perfect. One of the most relatable, decent male MCs I’ve read in a very long time. He never makes any big mistakes. But like I said, he is far from perfect. And might I say that the fact that he lost a leg in Afghanistan has nothing to do with that imperfection.
There are only two small things I would like to have seen differently in the book:
The author has an aversion to contractions, so at times the dialogue/narration sounds just a tad stilted. I actually started creating contractions in my head as I was reading.
Leila’s sex addiction is cleared up when she gets back with Garrett. But the drinking? At one moment she’s throwing back shots in the middle of the night to sleep, or when she first wakes up. The next moment she’s drinking like any average person. The girl drank to cope. She drank all the time to cope. She drank for 4 years to cope. That is what makes an alcoholic. I think she needed to go to AA.
I read in a few reviews that Garrett is based somewhat on Alex Minsky (who is the cover model). I never heard of him, so I did some googling. What an amazing person. I am truly inspired. He has done more in 24 years with one leg than I have done in twice that time with two. If you’re reading these reviews Alex, you rock!

Yes, I am giving this 4.5 stars. Okay, I must admit, I was very pissed with Leila "The Crazy B" and because of her immature stupidity I was not going to be nice in the review. So here goes. She was ruining her life even and knowing that she was doing it. She didn't want to listen to advice, she was in her own rollercoaster. One thing I know for sure Ms. Crazy B. loved her liquor and sex for what to not remember what was going around in her life. Okay, she was depressed for three months, because of the break up, but we the readers didn't know what transpired. Until like the middle of the book. Finally, her comes my Triple Threat Gorgeous Man Garrett Lavine. What a beautiful strong minded young man. What he went through those early months in the Marine, I felt for him. Regardless what happened he still loved Leila "The Crazy B". When all it was said, now I know why she was a "Crazy B"; Garrett was a good man, even given her forgiveness after what she did. Do not get me wrong I truly understand, the scary part of what happened when they were young, but it takes to people to do a baby, and two people have to make a decision of the baby not one. She did admit she was selfish, which it was about dayum time. I tell you I wanted to go in the book and whoop her ASS, or break my Kindle and that was not going to happened. I truly admired the love they had for each other, they work things out, and true communication is needed in a relationship without it, there is know point to just have sex only unless it is a booty call and not relationship. I was emotional when he proposed, her vows, and finally the beautiful life they have together now. I applaud Ms. Cervone, for a well written book, you made my anger, sorrow jump from chapter to chapter and last and finally Joy and happiness. Thank you.

Broken is a story in which I am sure several people can relate too. Leila is Broken and the way she handles this is probably not the way some would, but for her, she just doesn't know any other way. Honestly, until you are put in a certain position, you truly don't know how you will handle it.
Four years ago she lost her one true love, Garrett. Now she is a photographer by day and by night, well lets just say alcohol and men have become a necessity for her to function, that is of course, until Garrett returns. First she runs into him at a wedding she is photographing, then at a bar, during a Halloween party and then where she works.
She doesn't handle this too well because it nearly killed her when he left before and now all the memories of their time together come back full force. Garrett is a marine, tattooed and sexy. I fell in love with him and I must say he was my favorite!!
What Leila and Garrett will learn, is regardless of their past, they are still very much in love and the story will take you on their emotional journey to recover their broken past. Very realistic situations in this story where your hero and heroine are not perfect but tormented in their own way. I believe you will feel or maybe you have experienced what Leila and Garrett have gone through. Christa did an excellent job writing this story. It flowed very nicely and was a quick read with some very sexy scenes between the two characters. I also enjoyed Leila's best friend Nicole and found myself laughing at their friendship. I am happy to say that there is an HEA :0) I recommend you check this one out! I was given an ARC of Broken from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Christa Cervone did a great job on her first novel and I was pleasantly surprised! I'm always a bit hesitant to read first time authors because I have a tendency to scrutinize everything to the max. That said I was excited that I didn't have many complaints at all. Besides the occasional "his love is a drug and I'm an addict" type cliches it was a great read.
The way that the book is set up you get to feel for the heroine almost immediately and the beginning scenes are pretty hot! Then you get to the roller coaster ride and its so much fun. I was literally holding my breath at points and giggling at others, not to mention a few gasps that had Mr. Man wondering what the hell I was doing instead of folding the laundry.
I easily recommend this book to anyone with a love of all romance novels, there are steamy sex scenes, but this isn't an erotic romance, and lots of swoon worthy moments! I am looking forward to reading everything that Christa Cervone puts out in the future!

"Enjoyment" isnt what I got out of this book. The story is too dark and sad and frustrating and REAL. She is weak and damaged and stubborn and just plain ole ugly. He is too gentle, too broken, too obsessed with her, has suffered too much and cried too much and not been loved enough and far too forgiving.
I shouldn't have finished this book. Its not my thing.
But there was NO way I could stop reading. I had to know how she is redeemed and how it is possible to even make her worthy of him. Yes, she was young and stupid...all the normal reasons why YA make the choices they do. But its 4 years later and shes STILL undeserving.
So many things hindered the flow of my reading experience: the writing style, editing problems, the unworthy heroine, the triggers, the hurting hero.
I want to give it 2 stars but I cant say my feelings are that "it was ok" cos its more like I was riveted to the train wreck that their relationship is.
So this one held my attention despite the editing issues, the horrific excuse for a heroine who does NOT deserve this beautiful hero. I might just hate her more than I hate Kiera of Thoughtless.

Well I can honestly say I have yet to read a book quite like "Broken".
Usually the men are the "Man-Whores" well this time it's a "Lady-Whore" & I don't mean she get's money but she is trying to fill an emptiness. I couldn't help but feel sorry Leila she was drowning and just couldn't seem to get her life straight. When she first see's Garrett again oh my it's heart breaking. As the book goes on I couldn't help but wait for the other boot to drop it was nerve wracking because I knew this wasn't going to be a smooth ride. There was a lot of hot raunchy steamy sex. Not a lot of Mush- They clearly love each other but it was dripping in Mush and the author didn't beat it in the book over and over. Now for the ending- I can tell you I have never read a book until now that I was completely satisfied meaning I wondered about things- The author buttoned everything up so nicely.

I read this on the plane on my way home from a family vacation. I liked it enough that the plane ride went by very quickly yet I didn't love it.
A few things I had a problem with
The way Lelia handled her drinking. It seems she never fully addressed her problem with alcohol. While I appreciate that she did go into therapy I'm not sure what it accomplished for her.
I did love that she and Garrett went to see the therapist together.
While I could feel the chemistry from them as a couple I would have liked to see more of WHY they were so in love the flashbacks of there romance was not very detailed and I thought her dependancy on Garrett was so unhealthy.
I did love the reason why they broke up. I thought it was a very accurate account of how this could happen.
Overall I liked it and would check out more from this author.
I was sold from the minute P!nk was mentioned.
