An interesting little read about this amazing inventor. I had no idea that he had held so many patents and how much of his time was spent in legal battles defending them. A quick easy read.

The author, Quincy Shaw, has put together an entertaining book on the life of Thomas Alva Edison. I did not know much about Edison except that he was a prolific inventor who was not afraid to fail (he felt that failure merely brought him closer to success). While this book does not go into great detail about his private life, Shaw provides a basic outline of Edison's accomplishments, as well as the frustrations he encountered throughout his life as an inventor/businessman/entrepreneur. Readers of this offering will come away with a good understanding of the many accomplishments of Edison, and the impact he made on multiple industries. If you only possess a rudimentary knowledge of Edison, you will find Shaw's book very helpful. There is also a "Gallery" chapter, with numerous pictures of Edison at various ages, as well as his home and some of his inventions. The author's writing style helps to make this a quick, informative read. Four stars.

Very nice little book! It is a quick read about Thomas Alva Edison and all that he invented. It gives just enough depth to be entertaining but doesn't go into excruciating detail over each and every success and failure along the way.

I knew Edison was amazing, but I had no idea just how amazing he truly was!

I learned a lot reading this book. Things he invented that I was not aware of, social and family behaviors I don't really approve of, other personal challenges like any of us might have; just an amazing person!

The book does a great job of telling it like it was. I didn't get any sense of "judgement" and that is to be commended.

Thanks for a great ride back through history!
