As soon as I saw him, I knew there was just one word to describe him: BIG...
Dr. Vanessa Gilmore is new in town. She specializes in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. And her first patient, Commander Ashton Hughes, needs a lot more than just her professional help.
WARNING: This book contains dark and disturbing themes, strong language and over the top sexiness that may be uncomfortable for some readers!
“Steady on, you'll give Joe a heart attack,” Ashton said. “He's not used to having beautiful women in here.”
“I don't suppose he is,” Vanessa said, running her fingers over the worn leather seat of a Harley. “It's a motorcycle shop on a naval base.”
Ashton slowly put his hands on his head, making sure she’d notice his flexed muscles. “So you like big machines?” He wondered if she would pick up on the innuendo.
“I love 'em.” She looked him straight in the eye. “The bigger the better.”
This is the first book I have read by Tia Siren. I really did not care for the way it started and how degrading he is about women and how him an Vanessa got right at the start. Most women would not want this type of relationship it was showing in the beginning. Yes you can have PSTD, but most men would not treat women this way, he probably would do the rest. The story did start getting better and more interesting by the ending and then the story was done. I'm not saying this story is bad it did start getting better for me till the end. Other people might like this type of story. Short Read. I would not have purchased it, do to what I like to read. I recieved this book free and I'm giving my honest review.
PTSD is such a and cruel and unjust illness that reading the toll it takes on people who suffer through reliving the trauma is heartbreaking. Ms. Siren's characters resonate with reality and this story covered the importance of therapy and sharing the horror. The romance and chemistry was scorching and the happily ever after Ashton gets made this story a keeper!
I've noticed a trend with many of this author's books. Many times they start out quite good and keep you interested for the first 15-20 pages, but then we get to the middle and it's like BAM the end.
Commander Big is about Ashton trying to find a way to live with his PTSD, and the guilt he feels for failing his men.
This book is utter crap. Not only the ranks are wrong, the way the "disaster" was described simply CANNOT happen. Author has basically made up some random procedure to fit her plot that in NO WAY conform to reality. The characters are also extremely shallow.
The military aspects of this book are tragic and disturbing and it is no wonder why Ashton is messed up. Ashton and Vanessa's relationship is on warp speed and a bit unrealistic to me but, overall it is an ok story.
I. Liked reading Commander Big: A Bad Boy Military Romance, all about Commander Ashton Hughes who is thirty-five and has just come back from Syria when he lost half his team. Now he is being evaluated because something major went wrong, and it was his responsibility to bring his team home. He only told the Navy the bare facts, and left out all the meat, about what happened on their mission. The Navy wants him to be evaluated, and make sure he's better before going on any more missions! Ashton is super pissed, he knows in his heart what went wrong and he knows it's his fault, but he just wants to go back and get on with his life. The doctor he has been assigned to is Dr. Vanessa Gilmore she specializes in Post Traumatic Stress or PSTD and she's located at the VA Clinic. Ashton has already met with her, and it didn't go well. The author wrote a very interesting story, and the characters brought said story to life! Read about Ashton & Vanessa and see what happens. This story has lots of emotions and it's all over the place, but stick with it to see what happens! It was a good read, hope you enjoy reading it.
this is a great short story i loved it. i like that this book has a strong military man but also features an equally strong woman who puts him through his paces. I enjoy reading about a macho man with a past and enjoy reading about a woman that can get him to open up this ticks all the boxes for me. i would love to have read more about their journey as they develop. a great story i would definitely recommend this book
I've read this book before, but it wasn't exactly the same. He and the doctor met another way, she helped him with his demons another way. It's so much like the other story, I just can't remember the name of the other book.....
I liked the story and the happy ending. I do think it was a little over the top but agree many times the best way to get at under laying feelings isn't to talk them out with a stranger.
