I really enjoyed Lady Julia Gey series.
It was entertaining and catching.
The mysteries are in the vein of A. Christie, the villain revealed in the last chapter. There is of course romance but subtle, no sex scenes.
I loved the hero en heroine, although some fellow readers criticized them as too good to be true, I think they are heroes after all. If I wanted every day human failings i'dread a book on that or just look around. Of courses there are some anachronisms but not bothersome at least to me.
All in all is a nice mix of mystery, adventure and romance in the right amounts to keep one interested and entertained. And if you are a listener you have a definite PLUS. Narrator Ellen Archer does a superb performance.

This is a fun collection of stories. Lady Julia's adventures become somewhat predictable, but her family is entertaining enough that every new tale has something to offer.

I love this series! The characters are so complex and each story brings a new facet of their relationship to light. It is thought provoking as well, as we consider the woman's role in society during Victorian times, and now. I find I can't wait to start the next one, to see where Julia and Nicholas will go next and what convoluted crime they will have to solve. Write on Macbeth! (or in this case Raybourn!)

Settling down

Those series is now settling down into a ongoing storyline which lack the flair of the first few books but is still an interesting read. Surprisingly, marriage hasn't made the relationship between the two main characters uninteresting, in fact it's still interesting but less frustrating. Well worth reading if you enjoyed the series up until now.

Deanna Raybourn's writing has grown on me and I love these characters. This one took place in India (not as dear to my heart as the one on the moors), but I liked it. Just one more book in the series.
