I love to read. It's a simple fact that has been true since I discovered the worlds of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, I ended my nomadic lifestyle to raise my two children. Now, my imagination is my only limitation on where I can go and my writing lets me escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffeur, scheduler, cook, teacher, cleaner, and mediator.

If writing wasn't a priority, it would never get done.

"A step at a time."
"And if I fall?"
"I'll be there to pick you up," he said, meaning every word. "Or let you go. Whichever you need."

Warning : menstrual talk incoming.

3.5 stars. Lynda Aicher writes the heck out of some sensitive doms. I still think there's some sort of "housewife fantasy" thing going on here because these guys almost seem too good to be true. Put these men in a commercial during daytime t.v. in which they're sweating and doing construction work while women embarrass themselves by drooling over them from their office windows while drinking a diet (brand removed) cola.

I'm not sure in which universe you'd find three loving, caring, unattached, and smoking' hot men who decide to run a BDSM club together. Oh, and hey, they all just happen to be at a stage in their lives at the same time where they are ready and receptive to find their perfect mate. OH BUT WAIT, there's still more...of COURSE each of the 3 women that they're interested in just so happen to also be friends with each other!

I'm waiting for the scene where these men all get their periods at the same time, because apparently, that's how they roll.

The more I think about the absurdity of the situation, the more I'm giggling to myself about how ridiculous it is.

Joking aside, I liked Bonds of Need. There were some definite improvements from the first installment. While book 1 had nothing wrong with it, I was not a fan of how the BDSM fantasy felt like it was catering to a bored housewife who was disenchanted with a husband who didn't bend over backwards to constantly please her in the bedroom. There wasn't much of the BDSM lifestyle showcased (especially given the club setting). Instead, it was all about a woman who was getting lots and lots of instant gratification and not really learning much about the D/s life (a.k.a. the man was pretty much there to be her orgasm bitch). Therefore, I am pleased to report that book 2 utilized the club setting much better than book 1 did. The main characters had a more compelling back-story as well, which made for a less boring read. At least this time around there were issues to deal with other than a woman whining because her ex-husband never touched her (a story I hope to never have to read again - that's why he's your ex, lady. Move the heck on).

Deklan and Kendra had some great scenes together. I understood why Kendra was hesitant to trust Deklan. I couldn't fully understand why Deklan was so taken with Kendra, but everything started to make sense in time after we learned Deklan's history.

Even though the base of the story stemmed from Kendra's past abuse from a previous Dom, there shouldn't be any big trigger issues. For the most part, the BDSM elements stayed strictly within the realm of flogging and the like.

The style of play seems to be more relaxed in this series. The women are often giving an extreme amount of feedback (read : dictating the direction, which is a no-no in some books), and aren't using titles such as master/sir. I'm not sure if this was done out of the author's personal preference, or if this was for the point of making the books 'mainstream friendly.' Book 1 of the series was very much a BDSM-lite book (blink and you'll miss it), whereas book 2 read like a starter/intro to BDSM.

Favorite part : A scene featuring some role-reversal. Without giving away the gist of what happened, this scene really spoke to me and had a great emotional pull. It was well-written and moving.

Least favorite part : The downplay of a dangerous situation. When a person does something that is dangerous, it should not be shrugged off as not needing to be reported to the police. For as protective as Deklan was, I was surprised to see him not push Kendra to handle some of her issues differently.

For readability's sake : This will do. There was some sweet, some steam, and some emotion. All in all, it wasn't a bad night spent reading.
"How can you trust again so freely?" He laced his fingers in her hair, his lips pressed back to her temple.
"Because it's you. Only because it's you."

This is another of those healing through BDSM stories. Kendra, who we first met in Bonds of Trust, is running scared from her cruel ex-Master who used her submission as an excuse to abuse her and now she is scarred both emotionally and physically. She is, however, a natural masochist and, despite all the horrors she’s endured, she still has that basic urge to feel the bite of pain to achieve sexual gratification.

She attends an open evening at The Den as the guest of Cali & Jake and the calling is overwhelming and she attempts to find a Dom for the evening but Deklan has to step in when she starts to panic in the chosen scene. Something about her plight calls to him and he offers to help her overcome her fears and they sign a BDSM contract.

I did like Kendra although I did also find her rather annoying at times. I totally understood her need to quiet that internal pain by craving external pain but I thought she took a lot from Deklan during the course of the story and gave him very little in return other than her submission. In fact, at one point in time, I thought she was unforgivably cruel to him. I did really admire her resolute strength, the way she pounded pavements to help exorcise her demons and her determination not to let Eric, her ex, completely ruin the rest of her life.

Deklan, on the other hand, I totally loved. He gave Kendra so much and revelled in the how she gave him her submission knowing how hard it was for her coming out of a situation that had completely destroyed her trust. He' was patient, attentive, selfless – he was pretty much the perfect Dom for Kendra. He never forces the situation beyond what she can cope with and slowly rebuilds that trust that Eric had so cruelly destroyed. We didn’t get huge insights into his character and past, it was mostly skimmed over – this is very much Kendra’s story.

Eric, Kendra’s ex, really was a bully and I hated him and I felt the story was building towards a big dramatic conclusion with this particular plot line but, sadly, in the end it felt rather anti-climactic. It was, however, wonderfully romantic and if BDSM romance is your thing then I feel fairly confident in saying that you would like this. Hardcore BDSM fans will probably find this rather tame.

So, another great story from Lynda Aicher and I look forward to more in this series.

3.5 BDSM romance

My thoughts while reading;

10.0% “She leaned into Jake, his arm tightening around her shoulders. “I was just lucky that it was Jake who welcomed me into the club on my first night.” She looked at her Dom. “It was him I came back for.”
The complete devotion that passed over Jake’s face as he stroked a finger down her cheek made Kendra’s heart ache.”

15.0% “Making his way down the back hallways and employee-only areas, Deklan struggled to rein in the raging beast that slithered under his skin. It made no sense, this predatory, protective instinct that was digging into his gut and pushing him toward her.
She was an adult with the right to do as she wished. She could take care of herself.
The logic didn’t stop his progress.”

19.0% “She took hold of the handles under the bench, following his order with a calmness that hadn’t existed before. With Deklan, her nerves eased away to be replaced by a gentle quiet she hadn’t experienced in years.”

“The tears flowed again as Deklan kept up a steady pace, spanking each cheek in a pattern that let her fall into the rhythm. The tears weren’t in pain or shame or any of the other condemnations that still hounded her. Under this Dom, they were cleansing. He understood what she needed and was giving it to her without judgment.”

21.0% “There was no perfume or other smell to hide the pure musky aroma of her arousal. He let his pleasure show in the low growl that rose from his throat.”

“Come, Kendra,” he commanded between gritted teeth.
She convulsed beneath him, arching and lifting him with the force of her orgasm. The sounds of her pleasure mixed with his own growl as he checked his desire and concentrated on extending hers.”

27.0% “There’s a closeness, a bond that comes with a relationship like yours. One that goes beyond the usual levels of love and commitment. It’s beautiful to see when it’s right. Why wouldn’t others want that?”

“You’re supposed to respect your elders.”
“I thought it was Masters?”
“Only if they earn it.”

29.0% ” She didn’t understand why he’d even be interested in helping her. “You don’t even know me.”
“Because I want to.”
She froze. His simple, straightforward answer didn’t appear to have any hidden meanings. No secret motives or ulterior goals that would trap her. Still she doubted. “But why?”
“Because I see you, Kendra.” His tone was so certain. Strong without being commanding.”

30.0% “I want to show you that until you believe it,” Deklan continued, his voice hoarse. “We can sign a contract, lay down rules beforehand. I’ll do whatever you want to make you feel safe. But you shouldn’t fear what you need. You shouldn’t be ashamed of something that brings you pleasure. Let me show you how it can be. How it should be.”

31.0% “And if I fall?”
“I’ll be there to pick you up,” he said, meaning every word. “Or let you go. Whichever you need.”

I'm starting to love Deklan!!! :D"

33.0% Just be honest with yourself on this one. She’s more than a trainee.”
Yeah, she was. But was he going to admit that to anyone else? Fuck, no. Zero point in giving anyone that kind of leverage.

35.0% You can talk. In fact, I want you to talk. Your words aren’t something I ever want to control.” He moved away then, his stride sure and long.
She stared at his back, too stunned to move.
She could talk.
A simple freedom. One she hadn’t even realized she needed.

Even though it wasn’t official until she signed the contract, Deklan already thought of Kendra as his.

42.0% "Please, Deklan.” Holy fuck. Her desperate plea shot straight to his throbbing dick. He was hard enough to pound nails and for once that sense of satisfaction he got from withholding his release was replaced by impatience and a flaming need to come.

She was so close. Fuck, he was close. Control was his refrain yet with her he was barely hanging on to it.
He looked up the length of her and let out a low groan."

43.0% The instant urge to come was right there, teetering on the edge at her offer. Fuck. The curse was harsh and feral-sounding in his mind. The visual of him standing over her, his ejaculation over her stomach and breast marking her as his, was almost too much to resist.

44.0% Her brain suddenly caught up with her actions and she held her breath. Damn it. It was that exact defiance that had always gotten her in trouble with Eric. Deklan only chucked.

50.0% For once in his life, everything else faded away. He was aware of only her. Her warm breath against his neck, the wisp of lilac, her breasts where they pressed to his chest. This was a trust that went outside of the club, outside of a Scene. And God, he hadn’t realized how much he’d wanted it until she’d given it to him just now

58.0% “She’s getting to you, huh?” Not answering, he stared at the game in stony silence. If Jake was smart, he’d take the hint. “Take my advice, don’t fight it,” Jake offered

66.0% It just...” His jaw clenched as he struggled to hold back the anger. “It kills me to think of anyone harming or threatening you. That you would go back to him to save your family is noble, but there has to be another way. I don’t know if...” He couldn’t finish. She wouldn’t want to hear that he couldn’t let her go. Okay, I'm officially in love with Deklan!"

67.0% "If you won’t do this, I’ll find someone else.” His eyes flew open, his head snapping up to glare at her. “Like hell you will

Fucking shit. He was a breath away from breaking every self-imposed rule he had. Years of hard-learned discipline was the only thing holding his feet firm. “Do you like what you see?” She held her arms out and slowly turned in a circle, giving him a view from all sides.

69.0% His feet were buckled into the spreader bar attached to the ground, one wrist bound to the bar over his head with his last hand gripping the other side of the bar, unable to buckle that one on his own. He stared at her, conveying more in his eyes than he’d ever done before. “I’m yours.” His voice was steady and he dropped his gaze to the ground. “Do with me as you wish.”

71.0% Let me hear you.” A smack on each thigh. He hissed. “Will you scream for me?” And the kill stroke, an upward strike against the underside of his cock. “Fuck,” he roared, back arching, arms pulled tight against their restrictions."

" Her eyes flashed to his face and she froze. He was staring back at her, his breathing as heavy as her own. His eyes were dilated but focused and what she saw there almost made her crumble. Devotion.

72.0% “I am not a project.” Her voice was rough with emotion, her breath hitching with her struggle. “I told you that.” “I’m not broken,” she croaked, her hips moving to rub his cock over her spread and aching sex. “I don’t need to be fixed.” “No, you’re not. You don’t,” he agreed. “You’re perfect as you are"

74.0% "She’d bared everything to him and in turn stripped him raw. At that moment he knew with certainty he was never letting her go.

Let it go for now. I’m not going anywhere.” “Why?” She sniffed. “Why aren’t you running?” He wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight, her chest firm and comforting against his own. “Because I’m yours, Kendra. You own me.”

He had no doubts about his declaration. Kendra owned him, heart and soul. He’d do anything for her. Even let her go if that’s what she wanted come morning. If he’d failed her that miserably, hurt her that badly, he’d let her run. And it would kill him.

77.0% The urge to keep her curled within his protection forever was so strong he almost sighed in contentment. There was a quiet in him that he only had with her

And losing her wasn’t an option. Fuck what he’d said last night. She was his.

he wanted to hope so, but purging her demons would mean she had to risk losing Deklan. And that was so much more than she’d risked by running away from Eric."

78.0% Each kiss opened a little bit more of her heart, making her believe in love once again. She blinked rapidly at the thought, swallowing back the rising emotions. She couldn’t dare to love Deklan. But a part of her knew it was already too late.

80.0% “The intensity of his eyes made her blink, her chest winding into coils that were too much like hope. “You have to know by now that this, us, is more than a contract. That I care about you as more than a client. That I want more than submission and dominance with you.”

“I want all of you, Kendra.” He leaned forward until she had no choice but to look back at him. “I meant what I said last night. You own me.”

81.0% “He stared into her eyes, the desire making his black and endless. “Do you want this? He passed his thumbs over her aching nipples; her inhale at the shot of sensation was husky and harsh. “I’ll stop now, if that’s what you want.” The torture of doing that showed in the low grit of his voice. But she believed him. He would stop if she said to.
Deklan would never force her to do anything she didn’t want to do.”

“I want to make love to you. No whips, chains, bonds, toys. None of that. Just you and me.” He ran his hand up her side, the heat trailing behind it. “And this.”
Inside, she turned to mush. He was so passionate, open where he was usually shuttered. And he was offering it all to her. There was only one thing she could say. “Yes.”

“God, Kendra,” he rumbled against her neck. “I’ve wanted you for so fucking long."

82.0% “Kendra,” he groaned, his hand weaving into her hair to hold her close. He ground his hips against her, pressing the length of his cock into her lower stomach. “I gotta have you.”

“And he was all hers. A possessiveness she’d never felt before swamped her with the need to claim him before he got away. To mark him.”"

“She wanted this. She loved seeing his look of ecstasy, feeling his legs shake, his hands quiver and knowing it was because of her.
“Come here,” he growled, hooking his hands under her arms and yanking her up before she could protest. The next second his mouth was on hers, a frantic mating of lips and tongues that turned her wild. She’d never, ever felt so crazed, so desperate for anything, anyone.”

“I want to do everything to you,” he said, his voice so low it sounded as if it was coming from somewhere deep inside of him. “Touch you, kiss you, worship you as you deserve. I fucking ache to be in you, yet I can’t stop looking.”

83.0% “Fuck, Kendra,” he swore against her neck, skimming his teeth over skin. “You’re perfect.” He managed to work a hand between them, finding her clit.
She gasped, her nails clawing his soft flesh.
“You’re everything to me,” he growled, biting down on the juncture of her shoulder and neck.
The cry that left her mouth said it all.”

85.0% “Deklan would give his life for her, but was his faith in her strong enough to accept that she’d do the same for him?
That she might just love him enough to fight for him?”

91.0% “She hadn’t realized how much she’d needed his support until she’d seen him. Yet he wasn’t charging in to save her; he was simply there. Remembering the buzz of her phone from earlier, she jerked her phone from her pocket and read the text message from Deklan. I’m here for you.
That was it. No admonishments or anger, just support. What she needed.”

94.0% “I love you, Kendra,” he whispered into her ear, the rough tightness of his voice making the words sound as raw as he felt. Exposed and bared to her in a way he’d never permitted with anyone else.”

“I love you,” she said. Her admission almost brought him to his knees.”

“How?” he asked, his voice still rough with emotion. “After all that asshole did to you, how can you trust again so freely?” He laced his fingers in her hair, his lips pressed back to her temple.
“Because it’s you.” She kissed the sensitive spot right below his ear. “Only because it’s you.”"

95.0% “You did that for me?” The wonder was clear on her face.
“Don’t you understand?” He gave her a soft kiss. “I’d do anything for you.”
The hesitant, soft smile that filled her face flushed him with a peace he never wanted to lose.”

96.0% “Have I told you how handsome you look in your tux?”
“Yes,” he growled, nipping her earlobe. “Which is the only reason it’s still on.”

“Come on,” she said, leading him off the dance floor. She glanced back, scanning down before leaning back to whisper, “Don’t worry. No one can see your boner under your jacket.”
He covered his cough behind his hand and nailed her with a look that could only be classified as a promise of retribution. A pale shade of pink touched his cheeks. Yup, that was her big, bad Dom blushing.”
god I love Deklan!"

97.0% “It’s nice. Perfect.” Her eyes met his. “How’d you know?”
Finally something easy to answer. “Because I know you, Kendra. This is about us. This chain is stronger than any cuff that could bond me to you. But only you need to know that. Every time you feel it against your skin, you’ll remember how much you mean to me. You’re my love. My life. Forever.”
“Deklan,” she breathed."

98.0% “She moaned her pleasure, arching into his touch, and he gave her a smile of promise. “Soon.”
“Now,” she demanded, winding her legs around him to ride her moist pussy over his erection.
“Fuck.” He couldn’t argue with her. Not tonight.”

“Fuck. This is perfect.” It was so much better than that, but he didn’t have a word for it. Or maybe he did.
Home.
With Kendra, he was home.”

3.5 Spank-Me then Save-Me Stars!

Deklan is one of the three owners of The Den, we met him in Bonds of Trust – he’s your typical closed off ex-military time that has a hero complex. But he’s also a Dom and sexy as hell with a huge, throbbing.... heart (what did you think I was going to say?)

Kendra is our hot-mess heroine; she was understanding of Cali when she found out about her desires to be dominated, but that wasn’t just being friendly and nonjudgmental... that was because Kendra knows what it’s like to hide a desire to be dominated. But her need isn’t to be overpowered, it’s for the bite of the whip.

During an open night at The Den, Cali brings Allison and Kendra along to see what the club is all about. Kendra knows she should not tempt herself by going. She left that life behind. But when she watches as the scenes play out there is a need to experience so much more.

Deklan notices immediate the instinctual submission displayed by Kendra when she walks into the club. He also notices the eyes of all the others who see the same thing. Unable to stay away, he finds her in the dungeon bent over a spanking bench. But her excitement and arousal has been replaced with fear. Stepping in, Deklan is able to give her what she needs in that moment and bring her back into the here & now.

Kendra doesn’t look at her sexual desires as liberating, these are things that she should be ashamed of, behaviors that lead to abuse. But Deklan wants to show her that her relationship with her ex was abuse not sexual play. He knows he has to gain her trust and in order to do that, she must be in control of everything.

As these two develop a rhythm of visits to the club he can’t seem to stop wanting more from her, but Kendra still doesn’t believe that the relationship that they have in the club can exist outside of those walls. Giving a man that much trust and control will always lead to him abusing it, in the club it’s controlled – it’s in view. It’s in a safe place where someone could hear her cries.

Deklan’s a man that can’t stop himself from saving someone. When he sees what is really going on with Kendra he knows he can save her, he won’t fail her. But the only problem is getting her to let him in enough to save her.

I enjoyed the second story in this series, but just not as much as the first one. I loved Deklan’s character and that this was much more of a BDSM type read, with far more actual sexual acts occurring; but there was just something in Kendra’s story that never stuck with me enough.

She was only a little involved in the lifestyle, so I understand that she may not have seen signs early enough. But she was portrayed as being far more experienced than was really explained. All of that, and she still could not separate the abuse at the hands of her ex, who exploited her need of pain – and what a safe & consensual relationship could be.

Although the physical act of sex did not happen until way later the scenes were still highly erotic, mostly due to the Deklan’s voice that is offered throughout the story. His desires were screaming to be heard.

Overall the second book dipped just a bit lower than I wanted it too, it was still a great read and I found myself wanting to know every little detail beyond what was revealed in the story. Allison gets her story next and I am not sure what wild ride she is going to take us on. She’s a little too outspoken and a little more conservative so I am not sure how this reserved woman is going to find herself in the arms of not just one man, but two.

Good continuation of this series. Kendra and Deklan were a good match. I liked that Kendra has major trust issues after what she went through, but still had enough courage left to try to work through things when offered help. However, I still didn't feel completely engaged in this one either, so I'm not sure if I will continue this series or not. Full review to come.

Well I found it while scrolling through the app Hoplla. Seeing as I signed up for an account so that I could check out ebooks through the library and it was really cool figuring it out how to do it. Plus the book was really good.

It's part of a series. Book two in Wicked Play by Lynda Aicher, but I can honestly say that if you didn't want to read it as a series you'd be fine just reading it as a stand alone.

While the book isn't totally BDSM themed it has elements of it mixed in. It tells the story of the main charter that is copping with what her ex did to her 10 months ago. How it may of started out okay but he quickly started to control her life and abuse her. She goes to The Den (the sex club in the book) with two of her new girlfriends and then meets the male MC. Slowly they come to trust each other while also working through her past trauma together.

I would say more but I can't or else I may start giving things away.

I liked it over all though, may be something I check out again to read but we'll see.

Kendra is a natural submissive and a masochist but her previous boyfriend twisted her desires and abused her so badly that she has become convinced that there is something shameful about her needs. She is reluctant to even visit a BDSM club but agrees to go to The Den with her friends Cali and Allie as a kind of test, a way of proving to herself that she is no longer interested in that lifestyle. Club owner Deklan has had his eye on Kendra ever since she moved into his apartment complex months ago but he never realised that she was into the BDSM scene until he sees her reactions when she visits his club. He can tell that her past haunts her and he is determined to prove to her how a real Dom/sub relationship should be. Just as Kendra starts to let go of her demons and trust in Deklan her ex appears back on the scene though and he'll do whatever it takes to get Kendra to come back to him.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Bonds of Trust, but I have to say I enjoyed this 2nd instalment even more. I really liked the way the relationship developed between Kendra and Deklan, I felt her reactions to him were realistic considering what she had been through and I respected Deklan for the way he was so sensitive to Kendra's needs. Kendra had been so badly abused in the past and she believed it was her fault because she had initially asked her ex to spank her. Eric had blamed her desires for the way he treated her and it left her feeling like her needs were dirty and something she should be ashamed of. It took time for her to come to terms with the fact that Eric was the one with a problem and that there is a big difference between consensual BDSM and abuse. Deklan opened her eyes to the way a Dom/sub relationship should work and helped her to realise that she had the power to stop their play at any time.

Deklan is the kind of guy who has always looked out for those around him so it was natural that he would want to take care of Kendra. I liked the fact that he let her fight her own battle in the end though, he just made sure she realised that he would always be there as her backup if she needed him. The reappearance of Kendra's ex Eric added a nice element of suspense to the story and I'm so pleased that she didn't go off on her own to do something completely stupid like so many heroines I've read about. She makes a stand but does it without putting herself at risk. If ever there was a character who I wanted to see get his comeuppance it would be Eric, the things he did to Kendra were beyond despicable and I wanted to reach into the book and crush him like a bug! I'm not going to say how things work out in the end but I will say I was happy with the outcome. Bonds of Need is a great instalment to the series and I'm definitely looking forward to getting my hands on Bonds of Desire when it is published in July.

Kendra is running from her past and her needs. A natural submissive who needs pain to gain her pleasure. She doesn't want to need the pain and feels shame that she does, but her desire to fulfill those needs is greater than her will to not engage in the lifestyle, so she heads out to The Den once and for all. Once there she is fully determined in her mission. With her set of rules to keep her safe she finally approaches a Dom.

In a set of events that are packed-full of emotions, she finds herself not with the Dom she approached but with Deklan. A quiet man that exudes confidence and sexiness just by the way he stands, Deklan is a partner in The Den. A Dom whose focus is on training submissives, he sees something in Kendra that he can't help but want to explore. So with their set of rules all laid out they venture forward to help Kendra accept her needs without shame or fear.

And what a journey that was!!!

After reading Bonds of Trust , the previous book in the series, I was skeptical that this one would deliver in the intensity I had expected previously. Man, was I wrong on all counts. I loved it! Kendra was strong yet vulnerable enough to make a great character to get to know. And Deklan? Well he was not disappointment at all. He was caring, understanding and determined as hell to give Kendra the pleasure she was looking for. And all this without actually having sex!!! Phew, it has been some time since I've enjoyed such intense scenes between two people without actual intercourse.

This time around the author delivered in all fronts. The story not only had the sensuality I've come to expect, it also had the range in emotions, a little bit of angst with a little humor mixed in and the wonderful development of a romance. This was not insta-love. This was a relationship based on trust earned and acceptance of needs. They talked, they laughed and they shared intimate moments and what came out of it was a beautiful coupling.

I enjoyed the BDSM scenes, Kendra's story and Deklan's caring side. They all came together to give me what I needed for me to be able to cheer them on and want to see them get together.

Bonds of Need is the second book in the Wicked Play series and an awesome follow-up in the series. Although it is the second book in the series and The Den is still used as a backdrop to the story, it can be read as a stand alone too.

I received this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange of my honest opinion.

MY TAKE

It's a rare piece of erotica that can be erotic and have thematic and emotive depth. With BONDS OF NEED Aicher accomplishes that feat. The character of Kendra is complex and conflicted and her journey from shame and abuse to self-actualization and empowerment is moving. And of course The men, Jake, Deklan and Seth are the doms but, they aren't like any male doms I have read yet. They are not perfect they get mad at each other and came from "the wrong side of the tracks). But, they aren't always certain about what to do and help each other handle issues that arise.

And the erotic content is well written and tantalizing too.

Kendra is in a world of hurt, emotional and physical. She's already ashamed of her needs, and her abuser didn't help. That shame has shut her down. She needs to build trust with someone to feel okay about herself again. But the fragility of the trust and recovery are easily shattered until she can shift her thinking. To become who she wants to be she has to face the people she feels have always disapproved of her.

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was pretty well written. It provided me with a better understanding of the BDSM lifestyle and helped define differences between sado-masochism and abuse. There is a world of difference between the two. BDSM is everywhere since Fifty Shades, and it's hard to know the copy cats from the work that matters when you're looking for more. This story is not a copycat of Fifty Shades. It explores the differences in the BDSM world and, like Joey W. Hill's work, helped humanize people in the lifestyle. I was impressed by its honesty. Whether you're looking to understand BDSM to satisfy your erotic or intellectual curiosity or because you have a more personal interest, I highly recommend BONDS OF NEED.

****This was an arc copy recieved from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review****

Let me just start by saying that even though this was the second book in the series I did not feel like I missed out on anything due to not having read the first.
This was a separate couple with separate problems, although I have to admit to now being curious about the first one.

We begin this book in the mind of Kendra who is running from an abusive relationship, where an total power exchange occured despite her not wanting it.She is struggling with the shame and guilt of feeling like, her ex's abuse was her fault due to her being a masochist.
However she finds she still cannot resist this life as it is apart of who she is....but she is very, very afraid.
Then she meets Deklan and he see's her need and wants to help heal her.....

From their very first meeting you feel the tension between them, but this was not a wham bam thank you mam book, although it is very steamy. Deklan had to use some skill and patience to bring Kendra to a place where she didn't freeze up with self loathing. I found I liked this book for that.

This story was well written, with well defined characters. Sometimes erotic books can skimp on the details to get to the sex but I didn't feel like this book did that.
My only problem was the ending where the problems with the ex and her parents seemed to be wrapped up far to quickly, it seemed out of pace with the rest of the book. It was also dealt with "behind the scenes", so we didn't actually get to see what happened. If not for that I would have rated Bonds of Need higher.
Very enjoyable , I would like to read the next one.

I already loved the first story between Cali Reynolds and Jake McCallister. A tale about a woman who dares enter a BDSM club to discover an hidden side of her sexuality and personality. I really liked the story but I regretted a lack of informations about the past of the characters.

There, Lynda Aicher responded perfectly to my expectations involving Kendra's past in the development of her relationship with Deklan.

In this new story, which can be read independently from the first volume, Kendra held herself away from BDSM clubs for very personal reasons. But when she walks through the doors of the exclusif club held by Deklan, she can not deny wanting to be dominated in the dungeon. But her demons resurface and rock Deklan's world very hard.

With time, patience, a surprising relationship bloomed. Kendra regains her confidence until a blackmailer, confusing sadism and violence, does require the intervention of the military friends of Deklan to keep himself away from the Sub.

Very well written, this novelmixes eroticism and suspense while leaving the reader discover a new facet of the BDSM world. A beautiful story.

Bonds of Need gave you a mix of BDSM, fear, suspense and romance all in one book. And I must say that it was refreshing that our tortured hero was not some multi-billionaire... As fun as that is, it gets old.

Deklan is awesome. Loved him right away. He has the patience of a saint! But seriously, what kind of name is Deklan??? LOL.

Though there are erotic scenes, this really isn't an erotic book. Its more so how she finds herself and that she is not broken. She has dark desires and whoever doesn't like it can get over it! She's better than that and Deklan helps her see that.

My only wish was that the suspense was stronger.

It was refreshing to read a BDSM erotica that featured a heroine already familiar with the lifestyle, and cognizant of her needs.

I was so thankful to see the clear demarcation between what is abusive and what is a safe, sane, and consensual form of BDSM, when so many others in this genre have blurred the line to make it almost unrecognizable. And although I'm not an expert al all, it seemed a bit more realistic than anything else I've read.

However, the writing itself was very clunky, and the dialogue completely unnatural. I think the story would have been more interesting without the focus on the melodramatic side plot.

*3.5/5*

This erotic romance is the story of Kendra and Deklan. Kendra has fled her abusive ex-husband but is still looking over her shoulder even as she is settling into a routine in her new home. Shame over her desire for pain with pleasure has kept her away from any BDSM clubs until her friend Cali convinces her to join them at her boyfriend's club. When Deklan, one of the club's co-owners and Kendra's condo neighbour sees her purposefully set off to play rooms he follows her, determined to be the one to help her negotiate the emotional minefield that is her desires. Can Kendra learn to trust Deklan with all that she is, or will fears of ending up in another abusive relationship prevent her from opening up her heart to him?

This story was enthralling from the first page. Kendra is on the surface a strong and capable woman but her shame over her sexual needs keeps her from truly being herself, until Deklan is able to unlock her inner self. Deklan is wonderful as a dominant, caring man, willing to do anything to help Kendra through her trauma and show her that he accepts her whole self. Being an erotic BDSM romance there are several club scenes with a variety of sexual situations that may not be for every reader but were handled in such a way that the reader feels empathy towards Kendra and her emotions in every scene. Kendra's growth over the story was wonderful to see. The sexual attraction between Deklan and Kendra was evident from the start but the trust they build that leads to their eventual love scenes was equally as important.

Overall this was a steamy and emotional read with engaging characters, a suspenseful subplot and a sweet and well deserved happy ending. 5 stars!

This is the second book in The Wicked Play series and I liked this book very much. When Kendra Morgan attends a party at an exclusive sex club, with her two friends Callie who is Jakes sub and Allie she's not driven by mere curiosity she is trying to prove that she doesn't need the D/s lifestyle only she can't have an orgasm without pain she is a masochist. Deklan Winters has been watching is new neighbor for months, it wasn't until she comes into the club he owns with his best friend that he realizes that she is no stranger to the BDSM lifestyle. It's not until Kendra breaks down in a scene with another Dom that he realizes that she has been through something tragic has he also sees the prove on her back he offers to help her to show her what a real Dom/sub relationship is about. I loved that about Deklan he was patient and kind and sexy as hell. Deklan also has is own demons he suffers from the need to save everyone from his years in the Army. Kendra's ex did a number on her and she thought that somehow she deserved it because she asked him to spank her. This was a well written book (read) as I listened to it. I would have loved more scenes between them. I loved the fact that Deklan honored her contract by not have sex with her he respected her wishes. This is a really good series and I am looking forward to the next book. If you like reading BDSM romance than you will enjoy this series.

Buona lettura e … Benvenuti al Den

What a great read! This book is about so much more than the BDSM relationship that the two of them forge, and more about their internal emotional struggles they need to overcome. Kendra is escaping her past and feels broken from the abuse of her ex. She is trying to overcome her fears and misconceptions, and prove to herself she is stronger than she gives herself credit for. Although Decklan hasn't suffered from any kind of physical abuse, he is suffering from his own secrets emotionally. Due to events in his past, he feels that he has failed to protect the people close to him. He seeks out Kendra, because he views her as someone strong but that needs his help. These type of topics may be an over done BDSM fiction, but I have to say that this author did it the right way. I felt a genuine emotional connection each character and their internal struggles they are going through. It may not have had a lot of BDSM scenes in it, but whew the ones that were included were great! I love the way that both Deklan and Kendra are able to heal one another from their past and look to the future. I know I couldn't put it down, so I think you might like it too. :)

I loved the first book, the heroine, the hero... this one... I could not connect with the heroine. I found her unconnectable. She has a lot of issues she likes pain with her sex... and unfortunately her initiation into it was with a abuser hiding behind the whip. He was a psychopath (at least in her memories) , the story takes place after the abuse, she is estranged from her family as they loved the abuser and seem to be disappointed in her. The hero was a good guy, I did not understand his attraction to her, even the big bad dom thing..she is beyond damaged and outside liking his roughness has little to no appeal. I disliked her and unfortunately his insta love to her with no reasoning made me not like him either by the end.

Heading on to the third, ever hopeful the next heroine I will like!

Kendra Morgan ran away from her abusive ex-boyfriend/Dom and is trying to rebuild her life. When her friend Callie (from the first book in the series) finds a Dom of her own, Kendra uses the opportunity to visit The Den to try to convince herself she doesn't need this anymore. Deklan Winters lives in the same condo complex as Allie and has had his eye on her for awhile. When she shows up in the dungeon of his club showing signs of prior abuse, Deklan takes the scene over. He then offers to become her contractual Dom to help her get over her fears. I enjoyed this book, although maybe not as much as the first one. I liked both characters but for some reason never felt like I knew them enough. But the story was interesting and sexy and hot.

Kendra was in a physically and abusive behavior she left her ex running to another city. She met Allie and Cali at her condo complex they became friends and would have a one night a week Girl time
Cali was telling the girls about the Den and where she met Jake her Dom and lover. Kendra still have not told them about her life as a submissive. Cali brings them to the den where Kendra meets Deklan a Dom and part owner of the Den. Kendra was checking Deklan out and he checked her out also while watching a scene with Jake,Allie and Cali. Kendra excused herself and made headway to the dungeon.
Deklan and Kendra get together and he was teaching her to trust again
after her ex boyfriend beat her and left physical as well as mental scars. When the ex boyfriend comes snooping around and threatening her secret unless she came back to him. Twists, turns, and trust makes this an exciting book.

When Cali (from Bonds of Trust) brings her 2 best friends to The Den for their mardi Gras night Deklan immediately recognizes that Kendra is familiar with this world. Her submissive body language speaks to all the doms in the club and when in a panic of need she breaks from the group and makes her way to the dungeon Deklan feels the pull to save her from herself. Kendra finally told her friends about her experience in bdsm but not the full extent of it. Her ex has robbed her of the ability to feel pleasure without pain and she craves it but is scared that it will lead down the path of abuse that she escaped from. Deklan seems to recognize this in her - can he give her what she wants without breaking her?

Sadly there are too many people out there that abuse others under the guise of bdsm. this story shows the difference. It is powerful, sexy and heartbreaking.

Was this my favorite book? No. Did this book deserve five stars? Absolutely. The depth that this story explored for its characters was amazing for the genre. You don't find that often. It's so sex-heavy with a plot thrown in. But this book was a story of healing, and the sex was an integral part of the healing. It flowed so well together. I was impressed.
