A Pirate's Honor
When Jaime takes to the sea, it's not for money or for pleasure: it's for revenge. Leaving his peaceful life on land behind is the only step he can take when his future is brutally destroyed and his heart is shattered.
Captain Gareth West is a feared pirate with a reputation for kidnapping and ransoming men and women. He's also known for bedding them so well that no one has a reason to complain. However, a terrible incident has left him scarred and reluctant to become involved with anyone ever again...until one day he comes upon a shipwreck.
When Jaime's ship is attacked by pirates and he is left for dead, Gareth sees an opportunity to banish the ghosts from his head. He decides to take the young man on board and use him as the prostitute that Jaime pretends to be. But Gareth quickly determines that his attractive captive is not a whore despite his apparent eagerness. Though he responds to Gareth as no lover ever has, there's a fire in him that worries Gareth. Jaime is a dangerous mystery, and Gareth knows it's essential that he learn his secret.
But he's caught off guard when Jaime's secret turns out to be the very nightmare that Gareth is running from.
This is a standalone m/m historical romance featuring gorgeous pirates and graphic sex scenes.

The first four chapters were fascinating and incredibly sexy. There's an element of dub-con going on and an underlying mystery of sorts.
Jaime has been working as a deckhand on the high seas in the hope of seeking revenge on a notorious pirate, the very pirate who unexpectedly becomes his rescuer.
Captain Gareth West is as handsome as he is enigmatic, and Jaime finds himself helpless to do anything but moan and beg as Gareth takes him time and again.
I would have give this book four stars had it not been for the last chapter. The story skips ahead two years, and while the ending is gripping, it's abrupt and unsatisfying. Considering all that Gareth, especially, had been through, the last few pages felt rushed.

A short, entertaining read.

Me ha sorprendido para bien y de no ser por el final que es muy abrupto, hubiese merecido más. 3 y media.

Loved Jaime and Gareth! The relationship between them was hot. This was a short story that didn't seem short while reading it.

Pirates......Arrrrr ;)
***3.88 stars (rounded-up)***
Okay, so Pirates. Yep, that's my review there... Pirates 😏 Seriously though, I really enjoyed the story of West and Jamie; it's a pretty interesting read. I wish I could go into more, but I don't do spoilers. I can say that there is a particular person that is a douche and I have no ideas why Jamie didn't just let go.
In the end, both men get their HEA with a possible island included.

Okay so who doesn’t lust after a HOT pirate??? It's been such a long time since I endulged in a little swords and high sees action.
I enjoyed this, but man could it have been so much greater! There really was something interesting to it. Have to agree the last chapter didn’t quite get there for me.
But it’s still made me sigh happily.

Stay away from this stinker unless you enjoy one dimensional characters and barely any plot. I was very disappointed by how very cliche Ms Owens went with this short story. I could not connect with either Jaime or Gareth. Usually the pirate theme works for me but not today.

DNF 57%. Perspective changes, inconsistency of MC behavior, tortured plot.
Might have been a 2 prior to reading the "Raised by Wolves" foursome, but this is poorly executed in comparison.

An attempt at plot and ~creating a mystery~ was made. Solid writing, but all the men in Gareth's crew sounded and acted weird. Reading about their interactions with Gareth and Jaime made me think of a very sympathetic and caring therapy group instead of pirates. The sex scenes were lackluster ordeals.
There was a part in the story that was basically just , which I did like, even if it did read as unoriginal.

het heeft me echt tot een stuk in het dit boek geduurd voor ik doorhad wat soort boeken ik nu allemaal op mijn e-reader had gezet. nuja ... voor bij brainfarts, i guess.
i don't read these kind of books a lot and i don't have that much to compare it to, but it had a comprehensible story and it didn't feel rushed even though it's only about 90 pages. some of the words used made me cringe, but that is probably just me being me. in the end, i liked it.

Adequate
If this book had been much longer I probably would have DNF'd it. It was good enough for passing a couple hours, but nothing to write home about. There was more telling than showing with the emotions the characters were feeling, and the sex scenes fell a bit flat. Still, it wasn't terrible, and if you like pirates and need to kill an hour or two, it's worth a read.

Know it could have been better
I have loved A Pirates Life For Me so always give Tricia a chance. I had high hopes for this book and know it could have been so much more.
The heat was there, but the plot wasn't. It could have gone deeper ,for longer, more angst and more conflict. More about Fredrick, more build up.
I know the author can do it, I wish she'd do it more often.

One star less for the cheesy end.

Wow! I wasn't sure what to expect when I read this novella as I had never read an M/M book before; I have read previous works by this author and found her writing to be excellent and engrossing, so I knew I would give it a shot. What I got was a HOT, HOT romance with two wonderful characters. They were both emotionally tortured for different reasons and found each other...eventually. You'll have to read this book to find out the particulars, but don't hesitate to read it. The book was well-written, had an excellent romance, and very hot interludes. If M/M romance is something you like, Ms. Owens does it very well! Highly recommend!

Jamie has vowed to avenge the murder of his lover by the pirate Gareth West. However, luck or fate does not seem to be on Jamie's side (or does it). When Jamie is left for dead by one pirate he is rescued by the very one he has spent a year hunting. West is nothing like what Jamie expected, passionate, loyal, and honorable West confuses Jamie's feelings and jeopardizes his mission of revenge. Jamie confesses his intent and learns the loss of his lover may not have gone the way he thought, however, Gareth sets him ashore despite the feelings he has for him. That is not the last time Jamie and Gareth meet! Well written and entertaining short with that special Tricia Owens touch, with awesome characters, exciting plots and perfect endings that makes her my favorite m/m author.

October 6, 2016There are two sex scenes and they're both hot but the suggested third that unfortunately we don't get to read about sounds the hottest:

The first half was interesting but not great, the second half was a mess. I have skipped a lot even though it is a short read.
