When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
WOW! Another great read from Patti Benning. I liked this second book at least as much as the first one in the series. The mystery wasn't rushed and there was even some time to describe a newly created pizza and an evening out with friends. A very good flow and and pace. As I mentioned in my review of her first book in this series I am usually not a fan of short mysteries since they usually are rushed and not very smooth but Patti Bennings books don't show any of it. She is my favourite short mystery writer from now on! Please don't miss out on this great read!
This kindle novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book two of 48
Ellie is home at night 🌙 when a woman 🚺 comes to the backdoor saying they were attacked in the woods. They find the man 🚹 dead but the body disappears. A woman 🚺 is murdered. Ellie and friends uncover the truth leading to the arrest.
I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic family and friends relationships mystery novels 👍🔰. 2024
So enjoyable. Fast-paced, twisty and turny, and all the typical “I love this book!” phrases. The only teeny tiny complaint is that the ending seemed very similar to the first book.
See this and all my reviews at Mystereity Reviews Late one night, Ellie's best friend, Shannon, comes to her door terrified and covered in blood. She was in the woods to meet a source for a newspaper story, when a masked assailant shot the source. Shannon is under suspicion for the murder, and Ellie starts investigating to clear her name and uncovers someone willing to kill to protect their business.
I enjoyed this one much more than the last one. A big draw for me is the characters, they're all a likable bunch, and, of course, the pizza (I would kill for one of those bacon cheddar pizzas.) The plot was well developed and had a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing. Although it wrapped up quickly, it wasn't nearly as abrupt as the ending in the last book.
Overall, another cute book in the Papa Pacelli's Pizzeria series, and a quick, enjoyable read that's a perfect accompaniment to a large hand-tossed pepperoni with extra cheese.
Ellie is settling in to her new life in Maine. It's not Chicago and that's not a bad thing. She finds herself Catching up with old friends and making new ones. Her peaceful world is shattered when her best friend shows up in the middle of the night and covered with blood. The situation intensifies when Shannon leads her to a stranger who has been murdered in the woods behind the home she shares with her Nonna. Ellie feels it's up to her to prove Shannon's innocence.
I love Patti's books and this is no exception. Great characters and nicely paced action keep you reading.
I enjoyed how the author kept me in suspense throughout the story. I love books that get my attention right from the start. I didn't want to put the book down and at the end she gives us a tidbit that makes me want to read the next book right now. I would have loved a bit more interaction between Ellie and the sheriff as I think they would make a great couple. Please keep these books a coming!
Normalmente non amo i racconti, ma i due che ho letto di questa autrice mi hanno conquistato, lo ammetto. Ed anche le pizze descritte non sono poi i soliti obbrobri americani...
'Bacon' is a sequel that is as good as its predecessor. Patti Benning keeps the main characters on a steady path while introducing a few, unknown residents. We see Ellie grow a bit as a character and she becomes an even more likeable heroine. Readers will connect with her as she works hard to make her small business a success. I've become a fan of the two animal characters, Bunny & Marlowe, who need to have their own crime fighting series. They're adorable.
I appreciate that she works within the confines of the law and solves the murders by working with the police rather than making them seem like a bunch of nitwits.
I truly hope Ms. Benning will continue with this series. She really has a good thing going and it could definitely be a huge success for her. As with the first in the series, this one is a 4 star book.
In this second novel in the Papa Pacelli Pizzeria Mysteries, we catch up with Papa's widow, Nonna and their granddaughter, Eleanor (Ellie) as they continue running the Pizza parlor and learning to know each other more.
Right as Ellie is trying to nap and send cheese orders, she is startled by her High School girlfriend, reporter Shannon banging on the kitchen door in the middle of the night. Shannon begs Ellie to come help her as her 'informant' and fellow friend and herself were attacked in the state forest behind Nonna's house.
To tell you any more would give the tale away for this short story. I feel that each tale is getting stronger and may, in a couple more stories, actually grow into a full-length. I look forward to that time.
Now Ellie gets involved with her best friends mystery, that happens in the middle of the night. Newspaper people can be put in ALOT of danger trying to tell the public a story, so that is how Ellie gets caught up in her danger. This all leads to 2 murders, and kidnapping hold people to keep the secret. What a great book, that kept me guessing. Many suspects that some didn't make sense, but what a story line to get the killer. Check out the book.
Liked this story just as much if not just a little more than the first in the series. Same great characters, a couple new characters. Lots of suspenseful moments. Action, a few laughs, interesting enough to keep you reading from beginning to end. Will definitely read the rest of this series!!
This second book is even better than the first one. Ellie’s friend shows up at her door late at night covered in blood. She tells her they were attacked in the woods and he is hurt. From there the mystery deepens and the pace picks up. A surprise ending and a good read.
This book was a great follow up to the first book in the series. It was another one that was hard to put down. I would like to read the entire series and would recommend to all cozy mystery readers.
I loved it. The characters are likable, Ellie is starting to enjoy the quieter life in Maine, but is shaken when her friend seeks her help. She will do anything within her power to prove her best friend is innocent and find the real killer but will it be to late?
Who killed Anthony Reeves and why??? AND now Chloe McCullough??? It’s a good thing that I am allergic to fish and therefore don’t eat it, isn’t it??? Ellie and Shannon should be careful!!! I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
Great setting . The food makes you hungry. Ellie doesn’t intend to get involved but she does end up in the middle of things. When her best friend Shannon finds a body and the body then goes missing the drama begins. Good mystery fun series
Good quick mystery, but more than a handful of editing mistakes which always annoys me. A great excuse to put off doing laundry on this snowy April day.
Such a fun read! Great characters, setting and a twisty mystery. Loved the food descriptions even though they made me really hungry! I am living this series!!!
I find myself really liking this new series put out by Summer Prescott Publishing and was already a Patti Benning fan. She ended her deli series and now I am already hooked on this new pizza series and the food is sounding just as good. The characters are really good and I am enjoying getting to know them and kind of build a relationship with them, kind of. The small Maine town setting is wonderful too, and it was nice to see that it can provide a diverse setting as the story changes. The first book seemed to center more on the water and this one the woods. Who knows what else can happen in Maine for the pizza shop and Eleanora. The murder pretty much occurs right in her Nonna's back yard, it happens right behind the yard on a trail in the woods when her best friend suddenly shows up at the back door with blood on her. It's a great cozy, there is food, enough danger and suspense with even a hint of romance. The pets also add a lot to the story as well, both her papillon and her grandfather's bird that she suddenly finds herself taking care of. I am really looking forward to the adventures to continue when the next installment comes out.
