Growl
He’d never had something to himself, never even dared to dream about owning something so precious. He was the unwanted bastard son who’d always had to content himself with the leftovers of others. And now they’d given him what only a few weeks ago had been out of his reach, someone he wasn’t even allowed to admire from afar, one of their most prized possessions. Thrown at his feet because he was who he was, because they were certain he would break her. He was her punishment, a fate worse than death, a way to deliver the ultimate punishment to her father who had displeased them so greatly.

Cara
She had always been the good girl. It didn’t protect her.
She didn’t know his real name. People called him Growl to his face, and the Bastard behind his back. Both were names he couldn’t possibly have chosen for himself. His eyes were empty, a mirror to throw back her own fear at her. He was a brutal hand of the Las Vegas Camorra.
And now she was at his mercy.

Okay... so after waiting for over a year we finally got the book. I read it the day it came out... slept on it and then decided to write this review, after a lot of thinking.

Ive decided to rate this book only on the basis of the story and story alone. There were a lot grammatical errors in this book. I groaned and whined few times when i had to re-reread a sentence to try to understand it or when words were missing or misplaced. I'm normally not very nice with my ratings on books with errors but I've decided to let Cora off the hook for that.

But, im probably not going to be very nice reviewing the story.

lets get to my RANT review.....

*** Potential spoilers ahead ***

3 Stars

The book starts of in a typical Cora fashion. Heroine living in a "palace" with everything she desires a fingertip away, getting ready to attend the Capo's party because shes of age now.

The heroine's innocent but not as naive as Aria was. Cara was a cross between Aria n Gianna. She was sweet but a spitfire when needed to be. She was very materialistic though.

We meet the Hero at this party. Hes standing in the corner looking very out of place. Everyone trying very hard not to look his way but failing. i mean how can anyone ignore the infamous "monster" of the Capo.

Before i had started this book i though this was going to be a story about Cara being taken by the rival mafia ( the Russians or something) and given to their monster. but boy was i wrong.

I did not expect her father to betray his own capo. The heroine became the daughter of a traitor and given to the "monster" as gift for a job well done on torturing her father. my mind was blown at this point.

description

then the "monster" took her home. A run down house in a run down area with nothing but druggies and criminals. Cara went from Dior to Dollar Store in a matter of hours. I was having the time of my life reading this. This was so different from what Reilly typically wrote. Her heroines have always had the best of everything in all the other books.

BUT, after Growl bought her home..... things just went down hill.

Growl was suppose to be a monster that has tortured and killed a lot of people. he has a fucking tattoo on his chest of killing people and feasting on their blood or fear or some shit like that. And for him to soften up towards Cara on the very day her bought her home was something i couldn't digest. i was hoping for some torture in her future and then for Growl to SLOWLY soften up. But what does growl do? he fulfills all her demands. She doesn't like black coffee so he buys her milk for coffee, how considerate of that supposed monster. She loves to read. Aww he bought her books to read. She didn't even have to ask for her clothes, he was considerate enough to go to her old house and get her things for her. How sweet is this guy.

description

I wasn't even mad when
And im so sure Cara wouldn't have even said no to fucking him since she was already so thirsty for him. Which is another thing i had a problem with.

but you know what the best part of the book was ---- Coco and Bandit. Loved them. I wanted to give them a huge hug. Those two damaged little babies deserved all the love in the world.

description

There were alot of other people and events in this book that i didnt really care about. Falcone clearly had nothing better to do in life since he sat around plotting on how to embarrass Cara. Like really you're the Capo of Las Vegas, grow up dude. It was so childish calling Cara to her Ex fiance's engagement party.

Things i liked -

^Cara becoming a traitor's daughter.
^Her going from princess to pauper
^Her calling out Cosimo for a backstabbing douche he was to her family. (Most heroines irritate me so much when they whine after there EX even when he betrays them. thank god Cara wasn't that.)
^Coco n Bandit
^Growl when he's killing people.

What I didnt like\bothered me -

^Growl when hes behaving out of character
^His inner monologues of him being a monster and not deserving Cara. what he says he is and what he really is are two very different people.
^Him softening up so fast. i needed a slow burn with them. It just didn't feel right for a guy like him who never cared for anyone (except his dogs) to fall for her so fast.
^Cara and Growl saying i love you to each other. Like when did that happen. There was nothing in this book that indicated they fell in love with each other.
^Growls back story. I just wasnt convinced. It seemed so lacking and full of holes.
^The Ending. I dont wanna talk about it. I dont even know what the eff that was.

Basically, this was an average read. if you dont go in with very high expectations like i did, then you won't be as disappointment as me.

Rant Over!!!!!

This book wasnt as good as her other books but i really hope Cora is back with a bang with Fabi's book. i will be waiting.
It will be interesting if she pairs fabi with Bibi's daughter. She sure needs true love after what her mom went through. or maybe Fabi n Talia. but anyhoooo, cant wait for the next one. Dont leave us hanging anymore Cora.

I'm gonna start by saying that this book was way more entertaining that Lily's book for example and I don't understand why it has the lowest rating in the series.

I mean, it's a breath of fresh air, and while Cara's actions and thoughts might seem like a contradiction and her behaviour different than what might be more logically acceptable, it makes sense to me.

She definitely was intrigued by Growl before she found herself stuck with him and it wasn't her opinion of the man that was holding her back but rather everyone else's and the way they viewed him.

She had trouble reconciling the way she wanted to react to him and how it was expected of her to react or at least that's what I gathered.

As for him, I think he just needed the last push, the cherry on top, the reason to set him off and do what deep down he always wanted to do but saw no motive to (except revenge) until she gave him one.

I loved this book more than Aria and Luca's (a couple that I dislike, Aria may be Mother Theresa but she is a doormat and Luca basically owns her, even if he loves her - she basically has no life outside of loving him, sounds great right!? - it's scary actually- but alas, i'm gonna rant on the review I have for that specific book instead) and I'm tempted to say maybe even or as much as Gianna's.

What I will say is that there needs to be more to this story, I feel that it did not receive the love it deserves and I also think this pairing needs more action, I want to see how their future shapes up.

They are an unlikely couple and I love those. Both of them were strong yet vulnerable and I love an alpha hero with a broken/vulnerable side. I know murderous without a conscience is the trend in these books but I absolutely love vulnerability when it’s expressed and talked about.

This needs a sequel.

I initially gave this 3.75 stars, rounded up...but really, it's all the same at this point, no?

Anyway, I really enjoyed this one. It was a lot shorter than I expected it to be. And things were a little rushed sometimes...but I just loved Growl. He was so grumpy and sweet and I loved how his and Cara's relationship developed...I just wish it had developed more.

Regardless, I just love this series and I really enjoyed this installment. I wanted more.

I'm sorry, I can't finish it. I can't.

Too many eye-roll moments.
Too many errors.
Annoying heroine.

Flat characters.
Repetitive, boring and predictable.
The only thing I liked was the hero. In the first scene.

***Actually 3,75 "A princess and a monster" stars***

We were waiting for this book for such a long time and finally, it's here!!!
I have loved all the previous books in this series and i really enjoyed this one also, but damn it, there is a thing that we call it editing and there was none of this thing...

There were too many errors in here and that was a little bit of disturbing...
And what the hell happened with the POV's???? Why Cara had a first person POV and Growl a third person??? And some times, the author was getting confused too while she was writing it!!!!

But, i won't stand in that unfortunate situation....
I enjoyed the story very much and i would like to tell you more about it!!!

‘I SHALL BATHE IN THE BLOOD OF MY ENEMIES AND FEAST ON THEIR FEAR.’

Growl was the most deadly assassin of the Las Vegas's Camorra...

Everyone was afraid of him...
Everyone despised him...
Nobody knew his real name and nobody cared about him...
He was just a monster who could do his job well, but noone wanted something more to do with him...

Cara was a good and full of grace girl. Her father was a serious part of the Las Vegas's mafia and his daughter means much for him. She is about to make a great rearranged marriage which is right for her position...

Cara liked to follow the rules and she is caring very much about what the others are thinking!!! And she is overthinking everything...

Cara and Growl are worlds apart but an unfortunate situation will bound them together...
Growl can't believe that Cara is now his, when he didn't thought that he was deserving something so good in his life...

And Cara was ripped away from the life she knew because of her father's actions...
Now she is owned by a monster and Growl is been put in this position because they think that he can teach her a lesson....

“Maybe my body reacts to you but I will never feel anything but hatred for you, you monster.”
“I’m a monster, you got that right. Have always been, will always be. I’m good at being a monster. Few people ever find something they’re good at, something they were meant to be.”
“That’s crazy. Nobody’s meant to be a killer. Nobody’s meant to be like you... I don’t get it. How does anyone become like that. It can’t all be because of that scar on your throat.”
“I have many scars and they all made me the man I am today.”

What will happen with those two???
Will Growl manage to teach her a lesson???
Will Cara see behind his mask and will she stop hating him???

Will she manage to unravel all of his secrets and will she be able to take revenge for what they did to her and her family???
Will Growl make her understand???

To be totally honest with you, the only interesting character in here was Growl...

He was interesting, he had lots of ugly scars and lots of shitty baggages... The bad opinions didn't touch him at all and he proved to us that his heart was gold, even though his appearance was black...

He was very thoughtful with Cara and that was so damn sweet...

"He felt something. But he didn’t know what it was. He’d never felt like this before.
She made him want to treat her right. She made him want to be better. She made him want so many things he shouldn’t want.
She was dangerous to him, to the life he’d built, to the person he’d become."

As for Cara??? She wasn't much interesting... and she confused the hell out of me!!!

From the first moment that she saw Growl, she was drown to him and that didn't stop even when she was his "prisoner". But all the time, it was like she was trying to convince herself that she was hating him.... So there was so much contradiction in her feelings about Growl and that was making me dizzy... Also, she was caring too much for people's opinion and i think that she had lost herself somewhere in there...

So, i honestly don't know what i'm feeling about her, even though that at the end, i appreciated her more....

"I was falling for him, and I wasn’t sure how to stop myself from feeling that way. But I had to. There was no future for Growl and me. There would not be.
He had been a monster all his life. Even if I told him he could redeem himself by helping me, I’d never really believed it, had I? How could I be with someone like that? How could I explain that to my mother and sister? I couldn’t..."

Well, the story was really good and i enjoyed it enough, even though the mistakes!!!! It was a nice storyline that could keep your interest in high levels, but it also felt a little bit rushed especially toward the end....

I really can't wait for Fabiano's turn!!! I just hope that this book will remind us why we loved this series so much!!!!

P.S. Damn, i loved Bandit and Coco!!!!

I have a bit of hate-love relationship with all these books. I don't want to read them because they usually make me very angry but at the same time, I sort of like them?

However, even I have limits. I started reading this and then I realised that I don't want to read this one.

I'm not interested in Growl. I don't like him. I don't want to like him. I just want the Falcones to get him with a red bow on his head to do with whatever they wish.

I was weak and a sinner but in the brief moments of pleasure I’d felt more alive than at any other point.

In my opinion Bound by Vengeance was the sweetest story I’ve read thus far in Bound in Blood series. Ironic since first appearances portray our hero Growl as a monstrous killing Enforcer. Supposedly unfeeling and a little dim, you should wonder how a person becomes this way.

Cara is typical mafia royalty, raised to be married off by her father’s choosing with very little input in her own life. Her marriage is arranged until it all goes pear shape. With her father betraying the current Capo, Falcone, she has now been handed off to Growl as a ‘gift’.

Did she still think she was above me? I turned my gaze back to the road. It didn’t matter. She was mine now. The idea sent a stab of pride through me, and my groin tightened in anticipation. Mine.

What neither banked on was the very real attraction. Strip away the titles, materialistic assets, and they were two pawns in another person’s game. Yet conflicted about how they feel, trust needs to be earned. As they spend time together and grow more intimate, an alliance is formed. One of revenge and ultimately love.

“You can’t understand,” I said harshly. For him, sin and guilt and shame weren’t words that mattered.

“Perhaps,” he admitted. “But I understand your body.” He pressed two fingers against my wet center, swirled them around and brought them to his lips, licking them. “And your body likes it.”

I was warned that this series took a nosedive and in a way it did. I’m not sure it’s because I’ve read each book back to back or whether it’s fact. Unfortunately, this story was tepid at best. No true affection or romance, it was a shame since I loved these two as a couple.

5 (I waited long enough) Stars

When I first discovered Cora Reilly, I read her whole series in a few days. Yup, I binged read like a mad woman, so you can see that I was devastated that Bound by Vengeance took over a year to write.

I’m not saying I can’t wait a year to read a book, I’ve done it lots of times, but it was really sad when the author dropped the face of the earth kind of went MIA.

I wasn’t mad, just highly disappointed, but I understand stuff happens in life.

Moving on to the reviews:

I’ve read the reviews, I was REALLY surprised when I saw so many low rating reviews. I will say this. I’m not a grammar teacher, I don’t even think my reviews are written grammatically correct BUT when it kind of distracts you from reading, it’s a bit annoying. As you can see I didn’t take off any stars for this.

I am assuming the author is going to correct this, because the grammar is kind of bad. I mean, she goes from third POV to first POV A LOT in the book. Sometimes the Hero and Heroine is switched back and forth. If this book was written maybe a few months after the previous book, I wouldn’t have said anything.

BUT WHEN YOU HAVE WAITED OVER A YEAR FOR THIS BOOK, THEN IT SHOULD BE edited properly. Just my two cents.

Now that is done and over, I really liked this book. I liked Growl and I liked Cara. I liked that Cara is a society princess. She’s like most of the girls in this world is betrothed and is about to get married, but something happens and …

Cara is given to Growl as a punishment. And Growl can do whatever he wants with her.

Growl is called Growl because of his ugly scar on his neck and he’s a monster. A lot of reviewers complain about him being too nice to Cara and I sometimes feel like we read so many of these romance books, we just want the Hero force himself on the girl and slap her around.

I really liked the dynamic and relationship between the two. I didn’t find it boring at all. I liked them playing “house” and I liked reading about Growl’s past and Cara’s need to save her mother and sister.

I guess everything that annoyed the reviewers (besides the grammar errors) I disagreed. I felt like this book was almost everything I hoped for and I still hope this series never ends.

I will say this

Bound by Honor (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #1) by Cora Reilly Bound by Duty (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #2) by Cora Reilly Bound by Hatred (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #3) by Cora Reilly Bound by Temptation (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #4) by Cora Reilly Bound by Vengeance (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #5) by Cora Reilly

The best thing about this book is that Luca didn’t appear much. He was so not missed. I needed a break.

This was kind of a beauty and beast retelling. I liked both characters, might not care about them but they were okay, it’s their romance that I struggled with. I just didn’t feel it. They definitely lacked chemistry and were kinda forgettable. I just wasn’t really invested in them. Also, don’t get me started on the amount of editing this series need.

As a reader who has been a fan of Cora Reilly's books for almost three years now, I'm a little disappointed on how this series has been turning out. It seems as if this series gets worse as it progresses instead of better. Bound by Honor was nowhere near perfect but it was and always will be the best in the series for me. The first book had so many writing errors and plot holes but it had potential and an interesting storyline. All the relationships and chemistry between the other couples were built in Bound by Honor but once they got their own story, I felt like everything was just rushed and all the chemistry between everyone just flew out the window.

Throughout the years, Cora's writing has improve (however still had PLENTY of grammatical errors) but the quality of these later stories aren't as great to me anymore. It's seems as if Cora Reilly just grew tired and lazy of writing. Did anyone even proofread this? Did Cora even read over the whole book even once because a lot of these errors could've easily been spotted? If we, as readers, can spot them on our first read, I'm sure she can too if she bothered to even look over the story just once.

With that being said, I think I might've set my hopes too high for this one. Considering how we waited a year or two for this book, I expected to be blown away but instead I was just underwhelmed to the max. I feel like this wasn't the author that I grew to be such a huge fan of. The story itself was lacking and fell short. The two main characters had ZERO chemistry. NONE. ZIP. Sex and touching just started to happen and instead of feeling the usual swoon and butterflies, I just felt weird. They had no connection whatsoever and I wasn't feeling this couple at all. I was just reading and skimming this book along and not once did I ever came to care for any of the characters. 90 percent of the time they were at the house doing god knows what. Then "feelings" start to develop between Cara and Growl and I'm just like WHERE. HOW? WHEN?

On top of that, Growl just had nothing on Luca or Matteo. Not even close. Dante wasn't even all that but he was more Alpha male than Growl. Growl just came off as a try-hard tortured soul. Yawn. And Cara was just boring. The whole time while reading I was just thinking about why Cara even had her own book when she's such a snoozefest. Again, nothing on Aria. Nothing on Gianna. Cara isn't even on the same level as them. She gives Liliana a run for her money on the most boring female character of this series.

I just simply didn't care for any of the characters and the only excitement I got from the story was when they mentioned Luca and Aria. Sad, but true. This book was just sad and disappointing altogether. I don't think a lot of heart and effort went into this book. If it did, I didn't see a hint of it. Bound by Vengeance was just in poor, poor quality and if I knew that this was how this book was going to be, I wouldn't have spent money on it. And that's coming from a reader who has a collection of the first three books in paperback. It might just be that I've grown out of my likeness for Cora Reilly's books but Bound by Vengeance is definitely not her best book.

2.75 "avenge me"stars

i ' ll stand by that comment above!

This was so not what hoped it would be :/

I can't say i was totally bummed but it was awkward...and the general impact was "off"

So, the "protected" mafia princess is given by the Camorra mafia boss as a "gift" to his best enforcer Growl (a cruel feared monster, killer and what not) meaning to be a punishment cause her father betrayed the boss. Betrayal is punished by death.

She is to be dealt by Growl in any way he wants-she 's his to own, to take in any way, to claim...

She slowly sees there's a hidden tortured soul under the monsterous features and conduct...

Now, in this awkward beauty and the beast mafia spin off, i found it incredibly misplaced in pacing of the storytelling. It was slow for a mafia book, therefore at times boring and annoying. The story was painfully predictable and the characters were, well, in one word disappointing, even if there was a visible effort to make them layered and complex.

But in the end, Growl became Meow, the princess got her vengeance for her father's death delivered by the very same man she feared at first, but they found the purpose beyond the exterior in each other, believe it or not, they found beauty and they lived happily ever after.

Even though i loved Ms Reily's first 2 books in the series...this one unfortunately continues the path of the last three that were also on the "lacking" side. But hopefully, I will find a way out of the dark as i won't give up in reading any further books by this author!

4 A man of the shadows STARS

“Don’t judge things by their looks. It’s deceiving.”

description

I literally did not want this book to end and that's all on Cora Reilly! And yes the story wasn't perfect, yes it needed some serious editing but if I'd had to wait another few weeks or months for this book I would have exploded! So lack of editing aside this book was all greatness and the slow burn we all know Cora Reilly for!

Cara is given to Growl as a sort of spoil of war, for her it's a punishment but for Growl it's getting to have what would otherwise have never been his for the taking. While Cara fears Growl she also feels an explicable attraction towards him. Growl immediately feels possessive and protective of Cara aside from the obvious attraction.

Their relationship was purely physical at first, which I feel is just trademark for Cora Reilly. You're always wondering if the hero will ever feel more for the heroine besides possession and an intense physical attraction. Which for me is a guilty pleasure because the love creeps in slowly until he finally realizes he could never live without her.

Cara's character was pretty resilient she went from sheltered virgin to having to deal with this carnal killer called Growl. She took it in her stride and while at times she wasn't sure of her own feelings toward him she never froze up as a character.

This was a great addition to the born of blood series by Cora Reilly and I really hope she doesn't disappear on us again because I love her work! Seriously please tell me you're working on Talia's book!

Of course it takes the monster to get my favorite from this series so far. (I've skipped book 2 and 4 so no biggie)

This might be an emotional rating, I just finished it and I loved it so much I wish I could start again from scratch, so I haven't had time to think this through.

There isn't a single objective thing that made this stand out comparing from other mafia books, and in particularly from the author's other work. But I just loved this one, it worked for me. I loved the rawness from his feelings (or lack of thereof) and the hesitation from the h, and all the circumstances they had to go through till we find the end.
I did think it was rushed, there was only a short amount of time for them to build up their relationship and I know it's not realistic, but still not enough to rate it lower for me.

I don't know, this just clicked, I loved him and his past and I loved how he found some peace with her, and I loved her development, and how she was someone and despite not changing completely, she became someone else towards the end.

" No te merezco. No todavia. Pero lo hare. "

4 Estrellas!!

This book is quite intense and different from the rest of the series. I could see where this would be someone’s favorite book even, but it wasn’t really for me. It also would have been a lot better as a standalone novel.

Cara’s father is a traitor to the Camorra in Las Vegas and as a punishment for her, she is given to Growl, a mafia henchman. She is really caring, strong, and independent.

Growl is quite content with his violent, simple life. He was still a mystery throughout the book. I liked that he had former fight dogs as pets, I love these little things that give someone character.

I really liked the ending, it was probably the best and most satisfying of all the endings in the books. That also may be because I am finished with the main characters.

Overall, it was a great mafia book, but didn’t really have the classic Cora Reilly pizzazz.

2 Long Years Later...

Hot damn. Was this worth the wait? Abso-fucking-lutely. I demolished this in one sitting, Growl is my new favourite in this series, he was honestly just so adorably tortured you just wanted to squeeze the big guy.

Cara's father betrays the Las Vegas Outfit, as punishment the head of the Vegas Familia gives her as a gift to Growl as punishment. Growl is an outscast and everyone fears him, he has known nothing but loneliness and pain in his life, and when he receives the beautiful and innocent Cara, he knows he isn't worthy of her. He is tainted and damaged and she is perfect. He goes through great lengths to make her happy and is always thoughtful and caring...

"She made him want to treat her right. She made him want to be better. She made him want so many things he shouldn't want."

The story flowed really well and the chemistry between these two was amazing. Despite his lack of words, Growls actions really showed how he felt. Cara was understanding and patient but also hesitant about her feelings for him. The circumstances in which they meet aren't the most conventional so of course she felt that her feelings were wrong.

I'm super stoked for the next book and I'm praying that the wait won't be too too long... but then again I'm prepared for another AWOL situation and won't get my hopes up!

Maybe because it's been ages, since I've read a Born In Mafia Chronicles that Bound by Vengeance hit me so hard in the booo booo! No jokes. No lies! This one really got to me. Couldn't make up my mind on crying or throat punching the hell out of my tablet but either way I was one pissed off chick. That a very good thing! Goes to show just how good the book was, heck didn't even care about the editorial errors. Yes those were in here, but damn the storyline was amazing. Small confession...bawled like a whinny bitch...yep yep all true! So for me this was a five star read and I recommend to all my mafia reading friends. Enjoy!!!!

My babies. My favorite couple from this series, for sure. I'm only mad that the author didn't write an epilogue for them. The ending was rushed, like every book in this series.

"But now, now he wanted to live, and yet he’d gladly give his life for Cara, so she could be happy."

"Growl’s eyes bored into me briefly. “Yes, she is. She’s worth more than you and I. She’ll be worth losing everything.”

I don’t know why but they were giving Ronan and Mila vibes and I’m here for it. Finally a good book in the series. I was tired of all this arranged marriage and weird v!rgin obsession.

*** 4 Monster STARS ***

OH MY GODNESS!

3 -didn't leave me feeling the emotions I wanted to feel- Stars

I have been waiting for what felt like AGES, to get my hands on this book and when it came out, I jumped on it like a dirty rash. Unfortunately, my high expectations may have been a bit too high.

I understood the bones and directions of this story. I respected the H's background and accepted that he was never gonna swoon me off my feet. I even understood the h's survival strategy and her need to use the H to serve her own purposes. I understood and respected it all. BUT... as a romance story; these MC's together, felt distressing and lack lustre, leaving me emotionless and indifferent to them as a couple.

I do need to clarify that there was nothing in this story that blazed any triggers for me personally. Some safety gals might need to be warned about but that wasn't a deal breaker for me due their unfortunate circumstances. I did question but that was more of a niggly question in my head.

This is a standalone story in a series and can most definitely be read without having to read the others in this series. The only connection that this book had with the previous stories, was that the h was Luka and Matteo's blood cousin. I don't recall reading anything about the h or her family in the previous books, probably because they were disowned by Luka's father after the h's mother ran off to Vegas to marry a man in a rivalling family.

Told in dual POV with the h's POV told in 1st person and the H's POV told in 3rd person. I can't even say there was a proper HFN, because it just cut right off straight after they decided to be together. For fans of book 1 & 3, we get a nice glimpse of Luka, Aria and Matteo close to the end :)

This book is not meant to be sold yet!

What happened? Has Amazon got an early draft? There are so many mistakes, editing errors and inconsistencies. The book needs to go back to beta read and then editing.

I'm pained to write this as I really loved Born in Blood and had so high expectations about this book but this is unacceptable.

Just to give you a taste:

1) Editing errors (plenty):

--I'd never felt more alone in her life.... whereas it should be in MY life;

--I could reach (...) tore at her heart...whereas it should be at MY heart;

--I whirled on him. The owling of the young boy carried over to us and tore at her heart.. no, at MY heart;

--she was killed and I loved with Bud.... not loved, MOVED with Bud;

--This time I didn't allow herself to perch on the edge of the bed. I stood. I hadn't even moved... mixing point of views in the same sentence!!!!!

and I could go on and on

2) Inconsistencies and Beta Reading needed

At the engagement party, Anastasia became Trish then Anastasia again then back to Trish and we're speaking of the same woman! Trish is her other friend.
...

Other issues:

He sleeps with a whore without condom and has sex with herwithout condom either! HIV? Please!

I'm not usually that harsh on authors and I debated writing a review at all as I try to be constructive. I write reviews to helps other readers and swore to always be honest. This book had potential: a broken man, seen as a monster and a beautiful mafia princess. But it's a huge missed opportunity!

So please Mrs Reilly, tell me this is a mistake and the book is only a draft or you've been hacked or... Some editing error can happen. I know as I've done several beta reads and editing jobs. But so much! No, a big fat NO!

Such a beautiful story, with a timeless plot, an awesome theme, and original characters. Cara and Growl are seriously one-of-a-kind. I will never grow tired in rereading this book in the near future and will forever find the thrill in reexperiencing this world with lovable characters just as I do with the rest of the books in this series.

Now, if you don't mind. I will now be doing my first count in marathoning these books. Obviously I'm already needing the next book in this series like yesterday. Great, great work!. It's a given that this book will be part of my Favorites, and something that I'd highly recommend.

So my feeling after finishing this book is this

I really enjoyed her other books in this series so with that and the waiting for this book to come out my expectations were high ( maybe too high).
I just couldn't enjoy this one, the story was undeveloped, there were too many editing and grammatical mistakes.
I mean look if you take so much time to release a book make sure the editing is done properly. I don't usually make a big deal about editing in books but when you mix up names, that is a big no no in my book!!
For me it didn't feel like the same author wrote the book.
I still enjoyed her other work and I'm still looking forward to more of Cora Reilly in the future. :)

Ok, I have to re-shelf this story from dark-romance to vanilla-romance-something. It was not what I was expecting. Not to mention that I've been waiting for it for almost 2 years...
