Soul Mates #2

For a Moment's Indiscretion

Rate this book
With ten years of marriage under their belt, Zane and Jaina are coasting. The little things they used to do for one another have fallen by the wayside. They’ve gotten busy with life. They’ve forgotten to nurture their love and relationship. Even soul mates can stumble on hard times and have marital difficulties.
At 47, both are successful professionals. Jaina is an associate professor in a renowned school of social work. Zane is the pastor of a large congregation. They have two kids, one in juvenile detention, and the other anxious. When Zane joins the faculty of a seminary, in addition to her full-time job responsibilities, she’s short on time, and neglects Jaina.
Enter Amelia, a new faculty member in Jaina’s building. She’s new in town, young, and very pretty. She’s also not at all how she seems. Oh, and she’s very interested in Jaina. When an argument with Zane causes Jaina to storm out angry, she reaches out to Amelia. Of course, she seizes the opportunity. And for a moment of indiscretion, Jaina could lose everything.

This is the first book I have read by author KA Moll. I was given a copy of For a Moment's Indiscretion by the author in a giveaway opportunity and am glad I won.

This novel follows the lives of Zane and Jaina, a couple featured in an earlier work, Soul Mates. It can be read as a standalone but I wouldn’t recommend it. The story involving these two might be independent of the previous novels by this author but I think I would have understood the actions and reactions of the two mains better if I knew their backstories in more detail. There are also several other characters making cameo appearances which is a pet peeve of mine and which again might have had more impact had I read their stories.

I think this is a great read for those who like some angst with their romance reads. Yes, there is infidelity but as the title implies, it is a momentary lack of judgement which spirals into a relationship breakdown. As events unfold, Moll effectively demonstrates how blame can be a two-way street in a failing marriage. Life gets busy, partners feels ignored, romance and sex go out the window. Communication or lack thereof can be a relationship killer and there is plenty of miscommunication between Zane and Jaina. Poor communication breeds suspicion. What could be resolved with calm heads and possible mediation is prevented thanks to a third party bent on keeping these once soul mates apart. The author does an excellent job of building suspense through the actions of this interloper. She is the most effective antagonist I have read in a lesfic romance novel in ages. Well done.

It is unfortunate the cover of this novel conveys none of the conflict or resolution seen in the novel. I would normally have passed by this story without a second glance. I’m happy I took the chance and look forward to more books by KA Moll in the future.

That was a tough one… I don’t like nasty characters, I don’t like when people are mean to others. Yet it’s interesting too to read books where not everything goes right, or ends well. The story begins as Zane and Jaina’s couple is struggling. Zane, a pastor, is convinced her wife Jaina, a social work teacher, is cheating on her. She’s not, not yet. But after a fight, Jaina finds herself outside her colleague Amelia’s door, and Amelia, an unbalanced younger woman, takes full advantage of the situation. From then on, Jaina and Zane work on getting their lives back together while Amelia keeps making it difficult for them.

This story kept me on the edge of my seat all along. Amelia is a total psychopath and man, is she scary… Also, I have a tendency to roll my eyes when writers use miscommunication as their main way to create angst but Jaina’s sleep deprivation and ensuing paranoia makes it a lot more believable.

Emily Beresford’s intense style of narration is often overly dramatic for my taste. In this case, though, it fits. Her voice is a little like the spooky music in spooky movies when something terrifying is about to happen. And I love her voice for Amelia, it’s off in just the right way.

I found out after I had finished listening that For a Moment’s Indiscretion is book 2 in a series (book 1 is Soul Mates). It can totally be read as a standalone but might be better when knowing more about the characters’ backstories.

Fabulous Series

Brilliant ending to fabulous Series couldn't put it down,I couldn't put it down so I'd fall asleep while reading after a day at work and have to carry on the next night. Only one teeny tiny niggle would have liked a little more back story to the children perhaps that could come later.

Very powerful story!

Amelia's stalking behavior surprised me at first but made sense as the story went along.

I thought at first that the cheating was going to push buttons but it did not. Given Jaina's history in the author's previous book it made sense that she would resort to her "fight or flight" behavior of feeling abandoned and neglected so she would resort to her old past behavior pattern but really following through this time and doing the deed.

Interestingly enough, I just finished reading another book in which the cheating theme was also present. The pattern seems to be neglect of your partner, total disregard of the relationship (whether it's intentional or not) and how you get around it once it happens.

The question I really had was about how Zane was going to get around to trusting Jaina again. The author really presented Zane's emotional upheaval spot on.

Like I said, the author got me from the first pages to the very end. Very rare these days to be glued to a book from (shall we say) from cover to cover the way this book did. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading the author's next book about Antartica.

This was a powerful story and I was hooked from the first page to the last page. All the secondary characters played an excellent supportive cast for both Jaina and Zane. The intense pain of the betrayal, the struggle Zane went through to forgive her wife. The constant pain she went through every time she thought Jaina was still involved with Amelia.

Amelia's character being as complicated as it was really played a great mix in the drama unfolding.

I guess what I'm saying is that when you reject someone you don't know what kind of behavior will be manifested. Amelia's dysfunctional behavior manifested a lot of those characteristics in a very effective way.

Loved the book! Very well done!!

I love love love it! WOW, KA did it again.

Jaina and Zane appears to have the perfect life but hiding beneath the surface is a lot of misery. There is always more than the obvious. They haven't be touched or loved in a long time and Jaina and Zane having trouble with connecting since Zane works more and more. Zane didn't notice the red flags in their marriage and it's just a matter of time before Jaina gives in. When Jaina cross the line, trouble looming ahead. She has played with fire and fraught with danger. Jaina makes choices that lead to one bad situation to another and it all comes back to her, for good or bad. Zane's life was turned upside down by the actions of Jaina. Her choices sets her life in a tailspin she can't control. Jaina learns that there is a price to be paid for her mistake. Their relationship became more complex. Their lifes were one hell of a bumpride and causes a lot of heartache and grief. Trust was lost. Could their marriage survive? Can they learn what they need to do to safe their marriage? I had a little idea what I was getting myself into when I started this book. It turns out to be much more poignant than I expected. It's a very tough subject, an emotional roller coaster. KA has the gift for writing credible situations and puts the reader in the emotions, feelings of the main characters. Take a chance, buy it and love it just like I did. You definitely won't be disappointed.

This book is sequel to Soulmate, at a point where Zane and Jaina has been married for a decade and where their relationship wasn't as sweet as it used to be. A moment of indiscretion plus a few coincidence has completely torn Zane and Jaina's marriage apart. Most of the book deals with their heartache, anger, remorse, misunderstanding and in a very realistic way that may strike a resonance with some of you. This is an emotional read how two soulmates find their way back to each other, but if you have not read this author's previous work. I'll highly recommend you to at least finish Soulmate. This will help you to appreciate Zane and Jaina and their journey together more.

I was given this by the author. I have enjoyed everything so far. I agree with a few of the other reviews. The cover did nothing for the book. This is of the times when you don’t judge a book by the cover.

When they say "don't use your phone when you are drunk", same should be said "Don't do anything stupid when you are angry". One time it took and you attract someone who has issues and think you belong together. After that it goes down the hill and you are not sure how can you save yourself!
I totally understand the main character. The issues she went trough are legit, maybe not as much melodramatic, however with her past? Very much so. I enjoyed the book and in my case Audiobook.

For a Moment’s Indiscretion by K.A. Moll was exactly what I needed on this day 30 of the Covid-19 lockdown that also swallowed up my birthday 2 days ago. I burned through it cover to cover today. It could be read on its own but reading Soul Mates first will really help you appreciate the depth of Jaina and Zane’s relationship. Great reads if anyone needs a recommendation while cooped up inside. Be safe everyone.

WOW!

We have another great story with Zane and Jaina. We are again back to forgiveness. And again the writing and the way this story weaves in and out of Zane and Jaina’s lives captured me. One indiscretion changes the lives of many. I love this connection and again can see this story going on. Just as good as the first story “Soul Mates”. Loved this writer.......

This was a really heavy book, dealing with infidelity from the very beginning. It goes through the different stages and emotions involved with the aftermath of an affair while at the same time introducing a suspense aspect, as the "other woman" becomes a stalker. It reminded me a lot of a lesbian version of Fatal Attraction. I found the book to be very interesting and at the same time heart-wrenching. The end drug on a little too long for me, but overall I found this to be a very good read.

Dramatic throughout

What a roller coaster ride this storyline provided this reader . Jaina being stalked by Amelia was weird and Zanes dismissals of her apologies and statements that she wasn’t seeing Amelia was destructive to her mentally. What a storyline. It really was intriguing and entertaining as well as enjoyable. It was well written and the deep feelings of both characters were very well defined, it drew the reader into the drama that was happening. Great book.

The grass is always greener…

The grass is always greener on the other side—til you realize it's actually mold not grass over there!! Revisiting the favorite first couple nearly a decade later; life has overshadowed love; routines & responsibilities supplanted romance & relationships. Their pasts invades their present & threatens the promise & the possibilities of there being such a thing as "their" future.

Even Soul Mates Have Lows

Zane And Janina have been married for over ten years and their marriage is in trouble. Zane has gotten so busy that she has neglected Janina. A new teacher has her eyes on Janina is pursuing her with vigour. A sapphic romance and thriller. Good series.

Continuation from first Soul Mates book, when things are too smooth a poor choice bad decision stirs it up. Zane's refusal to even consider listening was almost the total undoing.

The temptation to fall for a pretty young thing full of complements is too great for one wife to resist, and more than one person’s childhood traumas come back to haunt an unfortunately large number of people

Temptation comes in many forms - so do insight and madness.

Love is in the end a lot of work and a leap of faith taken again and again.

Suspense filled action and psychological thriller

This is my first soul mate series book. A moment’s indiscretion by K.A. Moll. It was a little different than my normal reads. I found it interesting especially with the other couples involvement with the minister and her wife.
I was frustrated with the minister and the wife with the tooing and froing, will she or won’t she, but was well written and flowed well.
So I guess that is where the other soul mate stories will be coming from. And that is something that I will be able to read.

Intense

This story was even better than the first book. It was intense and nerve wracking at times but the overall feeling was one of faith and love between soul mates. Great job!
