The Messenger
I loved the characters once I got to know the main character; that did take a bit but it was worth it, Dumond wove the modern past, the historical past and the "present" together well beautifully. It took the whole book for me to understand the job of the "messenger" but my discovery coincided with Madeline's so it was fair and appropriate. Although the protagonist is sixteen years old, the story is not a "young adult" book, it is a winner for readers of any age. I see the romance between Madeline and Samuel as a potential topic of our time. I can't wait to see where this series leads.

The Assassin
The juxtaposition of 16 year old Madeline’s life in modern time with the world she enters in the 1200th century serves to emphasize the stark realities she must face in her newest time travel, a trip that she is not authorized or trained to take.

She has found Samuel in her time but he does not recognize her; however there seems to be “something”. To increase the chance that he will eventually remember their love, she decides to speed things up by increasing their encounters in the past. She literally lands in the middle of great danger, in the middle of court intrigue, and in the Middle Ages.

The Seeker
The Seeker is my favorite of this unique and exciting series. I loved it! The Seeker focuses more on Madeleine and the impact that her job as a messenger has on her as a person, and it highlights the fact that she control over her actions which of course also means that she has responsibility for them. More questions are answered and not all of the answers are easy. But then what is, especially in the life of a 17 year old whose job is to deliver history influencing message through time.

All three Seeker books together! What a great read. This Time travel with a difference.
Sixteen year old Madeline Blackford is the last person who wants adventure. She's having enough trouble surviving high school And she's still dealing with the aftereffects of the trauma that caused most of her fears
When her soul is violently shifted into the body of a young girl in 1705, Madeline thinks it's one of the hallucinations that have plagued her since the car accident which resulted in her mother's disappearance and left her six year old body trapped in a car seat in a car, hanging from the top floor of a parking lot.
Gradually Madeline finds out she is a messenger, one of those souls blessed with the ability to travel through time to bring answers where they are sorely needed. She also finds Samuel, the man fated to be her lover forever.
The blend of history, adventure and true love make a compelling read. And what a ride!
The Assassin is a worthy sequel to The Messenger. I want to say up front that the ending was completely satisfying.
Madeline’s found Samuel in present day Chicago. But he has no idea of what they mean to each other. Messengers fly through time. Healers die and are reborn with no knowledge of their previous lives.
Ryan, Madeline’s Messenger trainer tells her she’s going to have to take more trips in time to burn the memory of their love into Samuel’s reincarnations. Madeline detests traveling, but she’ll bear anything to be with Samuel. Fortunately her present day best friends are now in on her secret and do everything they can to support her.
This time when her soul is ripped from her present day body, she’s sent to Portugal in the year 1355. She thinks she’s there to warn Inez, wife of Price Peter that her father in law wants to kill her. But it turns out she has another message to deliver. One that could mean the life or death of her own love, both in 1355 and in the future.
The third book in the Mortal Beloved series surpasses the others. In The Seeker. she is finally in her own time with her heart mate, Samuel, whom she's met in every time period she's travelled to. Things look rosy and kind of normal for Maddy. I mean PROM is involved and Samuel's taking her. Of course, he doesn't remember their other meeting, but she's willing to take what she can get.
But a casual stop at a convenience store takes her fairytale and skews it into a nightmare of epic proportions. Unless she can change a message she delivered in 1961 Berlin, Samuel's timeline will end forever. I am not going to tell what else Maddy finds out, but this book answers mysteries from the previous two books in a most satisfactory manner.
I am a huge fan of the series
