¿Qué me hubiera gustado?

For me, the aesthetics of a tarot deck are so important. A friend gave me a deck, but the illustrations were very dark and gloomy, and I hardly ever used it. I decided to buy myself my own deck, and Deborah Blake's Everyday Witch Tarot was at the top of my list. This is a deck filled with optimism and tools for learning and self-reflection. The accompanying book was full of clear and helpful explanations, and the cards and illustrations are some of my favorite things in the world. I love every single entry in the Everyday Witch series and the tarot deck is no exception.

Beautiful in so many ways. The artwork of the cards is so pretty you'll want to frame it and hang it up. The pictures are definitely a cute representation of the everyday witch. I really like the interpretations of the cards given in the guide book. The wonderful guide book also has a nice bonus of something I've never seen in any other instruction books that come with a tarot deck, it has color illustrations. And the box it all comes in is nice and sturdy. All in all, a lovely deck.

This is such a fantastic deck to work with! The artwork is lovingly detailed and I love all of the images and looking for all of the cats is fun, too. I find this to be another great deck to easily read with and would definitely recommend this to new readers and seasoned readers alike. Love it!

The Everyday Witch Tarot is a wonderfully accessible, friendly deck with an excellent accompanying book that's great for beginners, but also has insights to share with experienced readers as well. Deborah Blake has constructed a deck for modern witches, based heavily on the RWS tradition, but with contemporary sensibilities. The book is a full colour exploration of each card, with general reading tips as well. Blake very clearly sums up each card with a pithy statement, making them easy to remember, and though not a fan of reversals, she explores how each card has positive and negative attributes. I look forward to working with such a clear, well-thought out kit.

Getting to know this Tarot deck which I LOVE!! The imagery is wonderful and I think younger Tarot readers will find it inviting and appealing. But do not let the pastoral themed images lead you to believe that these cards don't "tell it like it is" when necessary. I had just such a reading this morning but they are always paired with good suggestions and ideas to soften any information you may have only discovered after taking the blinders off. In my case, my sense of events in my life was confirmed with a very sweet and uplifting message to go with it. I recommend this deck whether you are a beginning or experienced reader. Deborah Blake is a well know wiccan lore mistress, as well as a fiction novelist along wiccan themes. Enjoy!

This deck is one I use every so often when it calls to me. I love the artwork, specifically the proficient choice of colour, symbols, and body language thoughtfully and artistically portrayed on each card.

I appreciate the new insights I’ve developed from working with this deck which is a bonus as I’m still fairly new to tarot. The booklet that is part of this deck was also helpful in adding a new layer to my tarot interpretation skills.

Overall, this deck is luxurious and a joy to work with.

However, I was a little let down by the lack of diversity in the witches illustrated and wish there was better representation in terms of ethnic background. On a similar note, I do commend the inclusion of older witches in this deck.

I didn't realise Goodreads lets you review tarot decks anymore than I realised that bookshops sold tarot decks two decades ago. I became intrigued by the tarot in the early 2000s, when there wasn't as much information on the internet & no one around me had heard of it. When I discovered I could buy decks in bookshops & reconnected with an old friend who was also starting to explore tarot, I began collecting decks. I also did a lot of readings, revelling in the dramatic highs of shared energy. But I began falling sick, which my friend suggested was because I wasn't grounding adequately. So I stopped doing readings or even telling people about my interest in the tarot. I've spent the last decade trying to learn quietly from the many decks that teach me. One of my biggest personal lessons has been letting go of ego & learning to establish loving, firm boundaries. Three years ago, I felt the call to start a conversation with the world again about tarot so I began posting a daily personal reflection based on a single card reading (using the Rider-Waite deck). This time, I found it easier to discern the parasitic energies & push back against imbalance.

The pandemic struck soon after and the tarot decks have been my constant source of hope & learning through these two years. Everyday Witch Tarot is my newest deck and first purchase after many years. I spotted the cards being used by a Twitter account I was following for some of their daily readings. The combination of old-school tarot structure but with more modern imagery really charmed me.

I've been trying single card readings with this deck and they feel easy & accessible without being overly simple. I thought (rather egoistically) that I knew every basic interpretation for the standard deck. But the accompanying book with this deck, really contemporises some of the ancient (and occasionally obscure) lessons of each card. It works well with the image on the card.

Take yesterday's card pick - STRENGTH. I've been getting this card several times for the past 6 months. I'm drawing in a lot of Leos & I've been taking it to mean that I've to learn to manage them better but feeling like I'm missing something important. But the Everyday Witch Tarot STRENGTH also shows a beaming black cat along with the witch & the lion. And the book suggests a gleeful attitude of "Look, it followed me home. Can we keep it?" Unlike the traditional STRENGTH cards, the woman on this one isn't cuddling the lion but simply holding out one hand to it as it devotedly (and perhaps meditatively licks it). Instead of an infinity halo, there is a magical squiggle coming out of her wand held out & back in her other hand. The book suggests that with great ease, she has controlled a storm (visible in the background) and is now communing with the lion. The lion itself doesn't frolic like in traditional STRENGTH depictions & unusually for a big cat, is shown licking the woman's hand but with an expression of regal self-possession. I was filled with a bright lesson - all three beings (cat, witch, lion) being equal & necessary aspects of the core idea of strength. Strength through self-possession, through trust & joyful frolic, through adventure & loyalty, through mutual respect. And all of these in me, rather than in seeking these in other people or by controlling them.

This is just one of the examples of how this deck is elevating my relationship with the tarot and its many gifts. What a wonderful deck!

I love everything about the Everyday Witch Tarot Deck, from the sturdy box it comes in to the brightly illustrated tarot cards.

The is a deck filled with optimism and tools for learning and self-reflection. The accompanying book is full of clear and helpful explanations . The energy of this deck is unparalleled, and the book is written in a witty, wonderful, and wholly insightful way. It will reawaken any practiced reader, and gently guide any new user to the ways of the tarot. I love using this deck so much I also bought her Everyday Witch Oracle Deck.

I love the art of this deck! The images have an optimistic vibe to it which I really enjoy, and many of the cards provide me with a more modern or broader understanding of their possible meanings. E.g. the Hierophant in this deck says ‘spiritual guides’ or ‘transfer of sacred knowledge’ to me much more than the traditional image of the Pope would ever do. The kittens on every card are also a cute plus. I am not a fan of those cat or familiars decks, but here the additional cats work so well and they aid the interpretation.
P.s. This is a review of the cards, not the guidebook. I always find the information provided on guidebooks very limited and requiring further reading if you are a beginner.

I love this deck! It follows mainly the meanings and imagery from Rider-Waite-Smith, so you can use it straight up if you know the classic. The images are lovely and, yeah, filled with cats (that's why I bought it) and witches. I also like that the images are fairy-tale like but realistic looking (I am not a fan of abstract decks) and the pictures depict the meaning of the card. As a tarot deck, it gives off a feeling of hope and support. It is now my go to deck.

Ps: and the box it comes in is amazing! Book style and I actually still use it to store the cards.

This is one of my favorite tarot decks, my go-to cards, really. I enjoy Blake's positive readings and love all the illustrations! It is, by far, the best beginner's deck and guide, especially because the cards and the guide/book will trqnsform you from beginner into a more experienced reader and will stay with you all along your journey.

Love this deck. I used this deck in my official online tarot course. It will always be special to me for that reason. The images just make sense. Feels very easy to read and connect with.
Great size, shuffles easy. The box is big, so I got my own storage box to keep them in. The book is great. It's really helped me learn tarot.

I've found myself exploring the tarot cards and my wife borrowed me her copy of the book. She used it while she was learning and it helped me out exactly the same way. I loved the way it describes the meanings and the symbology of the cards. It's an amazing guide for is beginners.
