After fighting Earth's government for fifty years, the Coalition has succeeded in its plan of bringing Human females into space, and Tina Graham can finally live her dream. Assigned as a medic on Deranti Station, she has everything she has ever wanted until an unknown alien male rips it all away during a raid. With her dream destroyed and her life forever changed by an alien she's only met once, Tina must fight to keep her dream alive.
Sorvar, Third Prince of Morgath, wants a mate who is different from the submissive females his people usually steal, and Tina's just the sort of female he's been looking for. The feisty human sets his blood on fire the minute she opens her mouth, and one bite is all it takes to claim her. But unexpected complications threaten to halt their relationship before it starts, and Tina must slay the demons from her past to have any chance at happiness with the sexy alien.
While Tina and Sorvar learn to manage the surprising results of mixing Human and Morgath genes, alien and human forces are determined to tear them apart, and steal not only their future but the future of the Morgath people.

A very entertaining read! This book is right up my alley being an erotic, sci/fi, capture fantasy, but had some rather unusual differences from the standard fare. It wasn't perfect, my main complaint being a lack of explanation where it really should have been given (like, who the heck are "slicers"?), and a bit more backstory on the Morgath (why was the king so adamantly against taking mates, and human mates in particular?). I also can't disagree with other reviewers who complained about the insta-love aspect, but I think the author did a pretty good job with Tina's anger over her sudden and unwanted change in status. Tina didn't just let go of her understandable anger and become a doormat, she was a strong and admirable woman who also knew when it was time to just accept the inevitable and make the best of it.
I enjoyed the action, character evolution, and world building very much - although as mentioned previously I think more world building would have been helpful. This story was different in that both parties in the relationship changed - physically and emotionally - rather than just the Earth woman being forced to do all the adjusting. Although I think it would have been difficult to accept visually, the written description of physical characteristics was well done and interesting. I would generally have a very hard time accepting anyone described as "reptilian" as an appealing, sexy, hero.
I recommend this book to those who enjoy erotic, capture fantasy, sci/fi books.
When I tagged this as "feels incomplete", I didn't mean the natural progression of the story but the details and backstory, particularly of the hero and his family. This was a pretty fast-paced and enjoyable read. However, I would have liked for there to have been some repercussions for how the hero's kin acted. I can be pretty bloodthirsty when it comes to my heroes and heroines.
I just finished Claimed, the first of author Lee-Ann Wallace's Project Destiny series. WOW!! I read a lot of alien/sci-fi/romances and this one is really unique. I love the way the author makes it clear that the Morgath are so not-human, not even mammalian! And I love the way she handles the biology of the inter-species mating/pregnancy issue. And of course, the realistic depictions of the varied reactions - from acceptance to horrified rejection - of the inter-species relationship between Morgath and humans. This is a superb start at world-building, backed up by a sexy romance, and I find myself eager for more from the world of the Morgath.
This book was a lovely little delight, not at all taking the directions I expected and keeping me engaged and interested the whole way through.
Tina has finally achieved her hard fought dream of working in space. She has no time for relationships, nor does she want one with her past. When an alien species from outside of the Coalition attacks her station and claims her as his mate, changing her DNA, she is furious but will do whatever she needs to use this to her advantage. The Morgath are a fairly unknown species so if that is to be her new home she will simply become a medic there and learn all she can about her new species. If her mate doesn't want that he is fast going to learn he mated the wrong female.
Sorvar is the third prince of the Morgath people and he believes that if his species is ever to make it into the Coalition they need to mate to new species with the hopes of having female young. At present their species is dependent on stealing women to mate and they only have male young. When he invades a station and scents Tina he knows that this female could be his species best chance at moving forward. Finding her and experiencing her fire he knows that she is a woman he could love so he feels no qualms giving her his mating bite and changing her; he will have her in his life no matter what.
I thought that with this set up Sorvar would be very much the Neanderthal type of guy, with the strength, demanding, and brute force approach to all methods. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that is not at all how the story went. The Morgath have to take women from other species and they have tried getting consenting mates but none will do so. They have resorted to stealing women, but once they do they treat them with the utmost respect. Women are a valued part of the society, even more so with the fact that there are no natural Morgathian females. Sorvar truly likes Tina's fire and spark and enjoys engaging with her in all ways. The two are intelligent and open with each other and are a perfect gateway to watch this world be created.
There were plenty of interactions and political machinations going on to keep this story on its toes. The Morgath king sees humans as weak and looks down on Tina, causing tension and strife as he constantly threatens her life and well being despite his son. The humans look down on inter-species relations and see Tina as a commodity to be returned, one that can be scientifically studied for future records. And thrown into the mix are the Cragsich, mortal enemies to the Morgath who want to steal Tina in hopes that she can breed females for them. The three interactions don't cause an overwhelming amount of information or clog the story, but instead keep it moving forward and allow for a good pace given the length of the story. It was nicely balanced and gave the story a good mix of romance and action.
This book was enjoyable and at times surprisingly deep. It looked into relationships and trust and the ability to heal when given love and time. It explores prejudices of race and sex and presents an interesting idea of humanity in a larger universe. I really enjoyed this opening book and will be keeping an eye out for the continuing series!
A surprisingly fun read. It was a bit disturbing that all the brothers has similar names which made them to keep apart. But that was really my only complaint.
Get bitten...start to physically change...eventually get wings and claws. Giving birth to eggs...wait three months for eggs to hatch...that was different. Father-in-law and one brother-in-law from hell...one great brother-in-law. Hero who was a virgin...quick learner. Some weird stuff in this story and some fairly standard stuff. Did not blow my socks off but was pretty decent.
This was a really good book. Alot of action and angst; some emotional upheaval and some love and surprises. The world was created well, there are some questions still needing to be answered, but I feel that those questions will end up having their own book dedicated to them. I look forward to more stories from this series.
