Hidden in the red-light district of Moscow, tucked away behind the strip clubs and brothels, lies one of the mostly closely guarded secrets among the wealthy upperclass of the same-sex persuasion. The exclusive, members-only Club Rimska is no common gay bar. The powerful men who come there expect total discretion and to be served by the most beautiful boys in the city. They all have money and they all have secrets.

Young Mishka works at Club Rimska and one of his clients seems to have more secrets than most. He says very little, but he pays very well. He demands most of the pretty dancer’s time and attention. Mishka brushes off his fixation as harmless, until one night the powerful man decides that ‘most’ is not enough. He wants ALL of him.

Kidnapped and imprisoned by a psychopath, Mishka must now do whatever it takes to make the powerful man happy- no matter how degrading or humiliating. His captor is determined to punish him and thereby ‘save’ him from his wicked, sinful ways (whether the young stripper wants to be saved or not).

Days pass, and then weeks. Brutality turns to tenderness and obsession begins to resemble love. Mishka becomes more and more confused about his own feelings towards his mysterious captor. Is it Stockholm Syndrome or something more? And how does the man know all of Mishka’s deepest, darkest secrets? What secrets is he hiding in turn?

This unique story by best-selling author Amelita Rae is not for everyone. It explores the most twisted versions of love and dares to shine a light on the darkest corners of the human heart. You will not forget the Fallen Angel.

Amelita Rae took a wrong turn on the internet one day. All the innocent young lass wanted to do was watch funny cat videos, but then she discovered Boy's Love and that was the end of any worthwhile contribution she might have otherwise made to the world.

She now spends most of her time writing filthy smut that she tries to frame with farfetched plots and deranged characters, but don't be fooled by her bullshit people, its all just smut.

Why is it that whenever I am in the mood for dark, porny, non/dub-con goodness as a mindless escape...Amelita Rae makes me use my brain? She's sneaky that way, and I'm not sure if I like that or not. But I can't say it wasn't well-written.

See, for a while there I was getting really irritated with how the captor was judging Mishka for his choices, like people who "resort" to sex-work - either prostitution or dancing - are broken or without morals, and deserve to be treated like property. As a former stripper I took offense at that BIG TIME because I have never felt as empowered in my life as I did when I was shaking my ass & tits and raking in the money hand over fist (that I REALLY DID use to help pay for school, shut up)...so I felt like his agency was being completely denied before he was even kidnapped. (Just like I feel when people think somehow the system failed me or some bullshit because I "resorted" to stripping. Fuck you, that was my choice.)

So, yeah. Lots of personal feelings kept getting in the way here, and the way it was presented seemed very judgmental. Which meant I had to step back and reassess. (Which meant using my brain, damn it.) I had to re-read a lot of what I'd already finished because I originally read it with this negative opinion formed...and I am SO glad I did that. After all, there is more here than meets the eye.

The Captor treats Miskha like a pet; he's fed, housed & pampered like a treasured possession...and while there is punishment and forced orgasms, there is no non-con penetration. Which, I have to admit, was a new development in the non/dub-con genre for me. Even with the spankings and BDSM Mishka was always rewarded with orgasms. Everything else about the Captor screams of domination and control, of wielding power over Miskha whether he likes it or not, including Mishka's sexual release. Which IS rape, however anyone wants to parse it.

But as we get further along in the story, something else becomes quite clear: The captor knows Mishka from somewhere other than the strip club, and his actions have a more personal meaning as he obviously has a more personal connection that Mishka doesn't remember. Until the end. With that massive cliffhanger.

And of course that means the next one is on the TBR - I have to know how it all works out, and whether the Captor is misguided in his attempts to "rescue" Mishka, whether he changes his tactics, and how Mishka responds (submit or fight harder) now that he knows who the Captor is.

(I do find myself questioning the "Yaoi" designation here; it reads just like any other contemporary dark MM Romance book...and without the title and cover image, I would never have pegged it as anything else.)

3.5 stars, well hell talk about an ending?!?! Thank God I don't need to wait for the next book!! The author was so stingy with details on sir, just his obsession and abduction of Mishka pretty much the whole book. I'm hoping the next book has a whole bunch of explanation for me!!

NO. There is no such thing as red light district in Moscow. Or St.Petersburg. Or any city or town in Russia, where prostitution is illegal.
But ok, I’ll give this series a try.

2 stars.

I wish the author had placed this book in some imaginary city, not an existing one. As it is, I am going to assume this is some futuristic dystopian Moscow, not a contemporary one. At least that way I can continue with the series and not bitch every 3% of the book.

One more thing.
Mishka is a nickname. It can be affectionate or it can be rude. For a small chubby kid it’s very much an equivalent of “Teddy Bear”. For a skinny grown up it’s a bit rude, unless you are a close friend or family. Misha is a much better and more common short version of the name Michael (Mikhail).

Dark Romance
Series
Format: digital - ku

Damn. 😳😅 So this was intense. I’m not sure I’d consider this romance yet… maybe romance adjacent? Or on the road to becoming romance? But definitely not there yet! This was very dark. Please check the Trigger Warnings before you read it! The mc was kidnapped on his way home from his job as a dancer at a (very liberal and accommodating) strip club, and held captive to be tortured and basically groomed to be his pet, while also being lavishly and gently cared for and doted upon. The mc was then left to wade through a bunch of different confusing feeling to try to figure out what is happening and how he’s actually feeling. (Hello, Stockholm!) It ends on a pretty interesting cliff hanger, so I’m off to read the next one.

I'm afraid I'm unsure how to rate this. Amelita Rae has a wonderful writing style, one that appeals to me extremely well. I think that's the only reason I made it through this dark book.
Mishka is a wonderful character, I could picture him so incredibly vividly.
Important: This is only the first part and the book ends in a cliffhanger. And the portrayed relationship between Mishka and his master is highly nonconsensual. This is not a classic BDSM relationship. We have kidnapping and rape physically and also mentally. It is really well written, but the topic itself is not for the faint of heart.
I think you have to be a fan of dark yaoi to enjoy this.
I didn't enjoy it and I always thought I had no problem with dark pornographic stories 🙈🙈🙈
Oh and not to forget: Stockholm Syndrome

And as much as he hated being a kept pet, the worst part was, like any pet, despite his best efforts not to, Mishka had grown incredibly attached to his owner. He loved the constant physical affection and contact. He craved the intimacy. He craved his touch. He needed it. He hadn’t realized how much he needed it.

I really hate how authors left us poor readers hanging at the end of the book .. rushing to read book 2 now

Very interesting .. the beginning of the book was full of non-consensual and abusing and raping. Still, the twists and turns of the story has enticed me completely.

Well deserved 4 stars

This was dark and filthy and I enjoyed it a lot.

While this is basically just smut, I was shocked to see there was something mysterious going on with "Sir", I was shocked by the twist at the end and I am intrigued to go right into the second book because now that I know that there is a backstory between them, I am curious as to what it is and why Mishka didn't know who he was right away.

Pretty good story.

Amelita Rae obviously has a thing for yaoi stories. For such a prolific writer, her stuff is solid and well-written. This "book" is actually only the first half of a full-length novel, (which has the annoyance of bringing the full price for the actual book to $8.) The set-up is pretty classic dark yaoi: sweet, gorgeous "tiny" uke stripper is kidnapped by equally gorgeous psychotic billionaire seme.

And honestly the first half read like straight up porn, basically letting the captive scenario play out without much more than the basic, predictable character development in the midst of all the bondage and forced orgasms. The writing was fine, but there were a fair number of cliches (e.g. attracted to him like a moth to a flame) which just seemed to reinforce the stereotypical plot, enough that I had hesitations on picking up part 2.

I caved of course, and I'm glad I did because the second part pretty much totally upends everything in the first, and ends up going to some really weird, fucked-up places, which unlike the first part, were not quite like anything I'd read before.

I can't imagine anyone who doesn't like dark yaoi enjoying this, but for fans of that genre, both the book and the author offer many pages of pervy pleasure.

The first problem is it ends with a cliffhanger. It was a strange dark story. When the kidnappers name is revealed it doesn’t make any sense.

I found it funny when Mishka mused to himself that what he was experiencing was almost like Stockholm Syndrome... No honey, it IS Stockholm Syndrome. Exactly. Dark and vicious yet oddly tender and sexual, there is clearly something else going on, with the Captors allusions to them having known each other before . It's a tad bit annoying to have that finally addressed on the last two pages with a whopping cliffhanger... but I knew it was gonna happen going in and I've already got book 2, The Descent, so I'm not too peeved. This is basically one book with 2 parts. Curious to see how their relationship will change now .

I have a love of darker books and this one really scratched an itch for me. It wasn't only rough, it was gentle at times and caring-nurturing. Everything about it made me love it more. I literally couldn't stop reading and I cannot wait until I can read the next one and find out more about the relationship between the two main characters. The end of this book was really surprising and made it immediately clear to me that I need the next book as soon as possible!

Need Part 2 for answers!!

Ms Rae did warn that this was darker than her other stories, but I thought "sir" was too cruel. I want to find out why. I also want to know what is going on with Mishka's eyes.

Bloody cliffhangers, lucky for me I have book two.

This is my second book by the author and second Yaoi romance, I don't really know what makes it "Yaoi" because it read like a regular MM romance, I tried goggle but that did not really enlighten me, is it the phrases used that sets it apart or is it the cover, questions still unanswered.

I liked this book regardless, there isn't much to say, it was pretty hot, really hot, but it did get repetitive. Mishka gets kidnapped and we don't know why even until the end, he just gets tortured with pleasure, while I found it hot, I wanted to know what was going on.

Unto book 2.

An unusual tale ......

........

of one man's obsession for another.

Mishka is a stripper at one of Moscow's exclusive but less known club. The club deals only with men, for men.

The men who are customers are wealthy and want discretion.

For months one man has been a large and obsessed customer of Mishka's, making Mishka's skin crawl. A man of few words who pays well for his time.

One night however, Mishka is taken whilst on his way home.

Confused and being threatened he follows the kidnapper's instructions, but some rebellious spirit gets him punished.

Their relationship is slow going and takes a fair bit of the book up, however, the ending really ends the book well and I can't wait to see what happens next.

The characters don't have the depth that this author usually shows. The book is slow in moving, although much happens it was slow reading. I am hoping that the author will give the depth and clear up the end revelation, so we know who they are and how their past has brought them to this point. The ending of this book certainly made me want more. Mishka has an epiphany and finally recognizes who has captured him. Poor Mishka was just getting into the rhythm of living with his kidnapper, when all hell breaks loose at the end of the book.

Would have given this a five star if it flowed quicker during the story. I found the ending amazing so gave it a four star.

Can't wait for the next instalment.

I admit, I actually skimmed this. It was so dark, so twisted and so painful for lack of a better word. I've read several of Amelita Rae's books, and they are mostly yaoi fantasies that are mostly fluffy fantastical boy-love stories smothered in smut. But I liked them all, because under all that layers, she can tell a story, and she has a way with her words.

This one actually disturbed me a little, and I skimmed hard. But what actually happened was once I hit the end, I just had to read the next book. And after reading the second book and truly knowing the story, I actually understood why. And I came back and re-read this and I enjoyed it more. Perhaps she should have peppered the back story throughout instead of cutting the back-story into the second half of this duology, but I ain't mad at it. And I enjoyed it so much so I decided to bump it up to 4 stars.

The madness and pain were so palpable, it actually seeped through and made me uncomfortable. Not overly so, but enough to make me curious and to read on. Sergei and Mishka were such stark contrasts, and we were made to guess who is actually mad or at the very least, being driven mad. Mischka, at the hands of Sergei suffered so much, but we can actually see his inner strength not to break, and the fact that he enjoyed it said so much. And Sergei, for all his cruelty and downright nastiness, we can see the humanity and his love and obsession for Mischka.

The line between love and hate is such a fine one, and this book threaded the line brilliantly, and though the switching between both counterpoints can at times cause whiplash, but I liked it, because without all the tension, this would have failed terribly.

This was, for the most part, just Prisioner/ Abductor BDSM Erotica...

Our MC, Mishka is a Strip tease Dancer who is kidnapped one night and kept in a locked room by a Sadistic man (one of his 'costumers').

There's a sort of connection that grows between the two, in captivity - similar to Stockholm Syndrome.

“...as much as he hated being a kept pet, the worst part was, like any pet, despite his best efforts not to, Mishka had grown incredibly attached to his owner.”

“But just because he understood his feelings were wrong didn't mean that he could escape them.”

This is a pretty quick read, and it's more like part 1 of the full story...

“Who was he? Who was this man who held him prisoner, who acted as though he cared for him, treasured him and yet also acted as if it was his right to punish him and showed no remorse whatsoever for enslaving him?”

We don't get to find out a lot here, but the abrupt ending definitely leaves us curious about the 2nd book - The Descent - and to figure out the full story that exists between these two men.

I'm off to read book #2 now. I expect it to be a lot better than this one, as it seems that true, honest feelings will arise between the MCs.

Well this was 4 stars, right up until the last few pages, and now I don't know. Well written, great pacing, hella sexy, stockholm syndrome well done. I skipped a lot of the humiliation because it's not my thing, but if it's yours you'll be in heaven. But that ending was way too unrealistic..and confusing. My problem isn't that there's a cliffhanger; it's that it kind of made no sense. We'll see what Book 2 brings. Unrated for now.

3.5 Stars that is downgraded because it takes a certain kind of reader to appreciate the crazy of the Fallen Angel series.

My review is based on both books because they should be read as a serial rather than two distinct novels. It's also difficult to review the book without spoilers so click below for more.

For starters, I've never been a huge fan of Wuthering Heights. I can appreciate its beauty and its literary value but all the angst and selfish, obsessive love and general craziness has never been high on my list of "great romances." My tastes run a bit lighter and yet, there was something compelling about the obsessive, possesive love outlined in WH. These two books take those same themes and elevate them a step or two higher. Which essentially means you get a full dose of crazy, insane, psychotic love. It's not pretty by any stretch of the imagination.

Read at your own risk.

Wow! Sexy and BSDM for those who love it. Very vivid details on how Sergei tortures a gorgeous stripper named Mishka, also known as the Fallen Angel.

Sergei is a very angry man as he watches his Angel stripping on stage in front of all to see him, all of him. And for doing a men in the backroom at the club. But his obsession with the boy makes him dangerous and kills anyone that fucks his Angel.

After Sergei finds Mishka he does kill any man that touches him. He obsessed with the young man and is determined to make Mishka his, I mean very possessive here. He kidnaps Mishka and the young man doesn't even know why or who this man is! But Sergei ruthlessly punish Angel for being a whore and degrading himself.

Angel fights back and learns that he only gets punished worse for not obeying. Mishka tries to be good and slowly starts to obey and things are quiet for awhile until Mishka acts up again. By the very end of the book Mishka figures out who the man is and Mishka's reaction is pretty powerful.

It ends there and the rest to come in the book two, so I'm dying to see what happens after Mishka learns who his captor is. You'd have to read it, that's all I can say.

The first third of the book was promising, but it went downhill pretty quickly. After the mc was kidnapped, the character's emotions progressed WAY too fast, and without anything happening to make them grow. It was like the author had ideas of their relationship in her head, but we didn't get to see them play out. In one scene the mc hates the ml and is petrified of him (makes sense, he was just kidnapped and treated brutally) and then an hour later "suddenly feels close to him and doesn't know why" 😒 don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed my fair share of insta-love stories... but this just... wasn't that. It was very insincere, turned into sex scenes only, and I had to skim the rest just to get through. The characters' didn't make any sense.
