One Night #1

One Night with Hemsworth

Rate this book
Cole Turner’s ex-wife is getting remarried. No amount of alcohol can drown that out, but taking home the hot brunette at the bar is a good enough distraction. That’s all Paige is meant to be—a distraction.

Paige Minor is too busy studying for her law degree and getting over a bad breakup to care about finding another boyfriend. All she wants is one night of careless fun with a complete stranger. Cole seems like the perfect candidate.

When Cole goes to pick up his son from his ex’s perfect house, with her perfect fiancé, and perfect new life, the last person he expects to see is Paige. She definitely shouldn’t be the one opening the door. As he stares at the person who was in his bed less than twenty-four hours earlier, a single thought occurs to him: I just slept with my ex’s new stepdaughter.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Not for me*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

The book centers around cabinetmaker, Cole ‘Hemsworth’ Preston Turner (27) and law student, Paige ‘Shortcake’ Minor (20? (she mentioned that she was soon turning 21) but everyone else including herself says she's 21?). Cole and Paige met when they both need a one night stand, unfortunately, only one night was not supposed to be... when Cole shows up to pick up his son, Paige opens the door; Paige is Cole's ex-wife's fiancee daughter. What to do when Cole might have the chance of second chance at love, but might risk his son in the process?
“How do you know I’m better than that? I went home with a complete stranger last night, I’ll have you know.”
His laugh was deep, emanating from his chest. “I do know, actually. And apparently he looked like Thor.”
“In this light, you look more like Gale.”
“Who?”
“Please tell me you’ve seen The Hunger Games?”
He shook his head.
“Well, now I agree with you. We could never be friends.”

Overall, this book was a disappointment. The constant mentioning of Cole being abusive just felt wrong. It happened ONE time when he was drunk and they were arguing and we never got to know what she did. A push and a fist meeting the wall... I don't see how this make a man abusive. I don't see how this makes him a bad person. Fuck as awful as you probably think I am, I didn't see this a abusive. This just didn't work for me. Hell, I didn't even like the side characters. You didn't even get to see how Cole was as a dad. I don't want to read the rest of the series as I didn't like the side characters.
Finally getting to the door, I had no idea who I was expecting, but Hemsworth was definitely not on the list.
My heart pounded in my chest, and my stomach did a flip.
“What are you … how do you know where I live?” My first thought was Holy crap, I have a stalker! But there was confusion on his face too, so I had no idea what was going on.
It wasn’t until Cody came running out, throwing his arms around him and screaming “Dad!” that I realised what actually happened last night.
I slept with my new stepbrother’s dad. I had sex with my stepmother’s ex-husband.
I wanted to shrink back into myself. It didn’t really happen, did it? We have to be in some kind of alternate universe. Like Asgard. That would explain why Thor is here, at my fucking house, looking like the god he is in black jeans and a light denim button-down shirt.

Other Characters:
Sara, Paige's best friend who she met first year of uni and had been inseparable ever since. She was a great study partner because where one of them was lacking, the other was thriving and vice versa.
Reece, Cole's ex-wife of four years (were high school sweethearts) and mother of his child, Cody (7).
Ryan Hunter, underwear model and Cole's best friend and roommate.
Paul Minor, a hotshot lawyer. Reece's soon to be husband and Paige's father.
Danny Minor, Paige's brother and a football coach for kids twelve years old and younger.
“Fine, don’t give me details, but at least answer me one thing ...”
“Ugh,” I groaned, “go ahead.”
“Did his hammer resemble Thor’s?”
Instantly, I regretted nicknaming him Hemsworth.
I closed my eyes and tried not to laugh—that would only encourage her behaviour—but I knew I was going to be hearing stuff like that for the rest of the day.

4 stars!!!

ARC kindly provided by Xpresso Book Tours via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

This is the story of Paige and Cole! Two persons wanted just a hook-up that became so much more!
The story is nice and fast moving! The plot has a couple of twists and surprises on the right places! The writing was good and direct. The story was told by a dual POV and it's nicely done. So, why not 5 stars? Well, there is a very serious subject in the book and I didn't feel that it was taken very seriously, at least not until the last chapters. I would have liked that the issue was recognized earlier in the book and it was dealt as well before reaching this point. Also I would have liked that at least I, as a reader, would know that there was an issue even if the hero was denying it.

Paige is a fantastic young woman with a great mind and heart! I love her ways. She is honest and respectful. She fights for what she wants but without hurting anyone.

Cole is also a fantastic man. I like the way he loves his son, his girl! He knows his faults and he tries to deal with them but he doesn't give up! I also loved the way he faced his demons!

Their interactions were beautiful, funny, hot, intense!

The end of the book was also great! It couldn't have been better in my eyes! I have to admit that this was my first book of Eden Finley but it won't be the last! I look forward reading the next book in the series and I really hope it's about Hunter!

I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves a good romance book!

4 Paige and Cole Stars

I really enjoyed this book. Cole is a 27yr old divorcee who has just been informed by his ex , Reece, that she is marrying her new boyfriend. Cole is not keen on a new guy being with his 7 yr old son. He is well over Reece but he hates the thought of another guy being with Cody, his son, more than him. He drowns his sorrows in a bar and ends up hooking up with Paige, a 20yr old Law student. Both are stunned at their attraction but this is just a one night stand . Isn't it?
When Cole discovers Paige' s connection to his son's new life he is stunned. Paige is equally shocked but despite trying to stay apart, the chemistry between them is electric and they just can't step back.
This was much darker in places than I had anticipated but it handles highly emotional topics, including domestic violence and alcoholism carefully.
HEA? Yes (more HFN)
Cheating? No

I loved the secondary characters and can't wait to read Hunter's story. 'ONE NIGHT WITH CALVIN' Underwear model you say? Oh, hello Amazon one click button, we meet again.....

Taboo, angsty, & steamy.

This one was a bit messy. A taboo relationship, ex’s fiancées daughter. There’s also drama with the ex because of the hero’s past mistakes, and just other problems. So angsty, steamy, taboo-ish, a bit problematic, but overall a good read.

I loved it. The plot was written very well, but yet it had a balanced and controlled amount of sex it had in it.

I personally loved this one. It's the first time I'm reading anything from this author, and I would say I would and will definitely read her other works.

The characters of the story were written very well. Each character were unique. Sometimes authors have to consider how many characters they need to contribute to the story without it "being crowded." By the end of the story I was questioning if the author needed all those side characters because as a reader I was wondering, or trying to remember who some characters were. Even with that thought in mind, I still thought the characters were written pretty well.

The plot was oh so complicated! But a good complicated! Some things were left unanswered, not a lot of things but I still felt as though I needed to some answers to details said or mentioned in the book. There was so many details that went into the plot, and I applaud the author for writing it so beautifully.

The ending was rushed a little bit. It wasn't like in your face this is what happened, but I felt like the ending was rushed just a tiny bit.

The sex...HOT and so oh so wonderfully written. And it was frequent in the book! Not just one or two scenes, which is good. But the thing that I liked most about the erotic parts in this was that it went with the story very well. It wasn't just sex, it was sex that had a reason being in the novel. And it was HOT, a bonus!

Great writing on a lot of parts, and definitely an author to look out for. I give this 4.5 stars.

You now how some books capture you with their titles, this one caught my attention as I was like mmmm Hemsworth = Australian Hemsworth Brothers. What I got though was an Australian fiction about a guy named Cole Turner whose ex-wife and the mother of his son is getting remarried and wants her son to call the new guy Dad. This has driven Cole to the pub, and he has a bit too many to drink. During this outing, he meets Paige who is willing to flirt and looking for a one night stand to get her mind off her cheating ex-boyfriend. The two have a quick banter, and then one thing leads to another, and they end up in bed together. The next day, Cole is due to meet the new fiance and the guy who will be raising his son, he rocks up to the door, and Paige opens it. Paige, as it turns out, is about to become his ex-wife's new stepdaughter. Talk about Awkward moments, especially since Cole's ex-wife Reece holds all the cards when it comes to their son's custody and parental rights. What started as a one night stand though has left some serious chemistry sizzling and an imprint on both Paige and Cole's hearts? Can they work out the family issues and be together or will they find themselves running into a brick wall every time they try and make a decision to be together?
Find out in One Night with a Hemsworth, and I have to admit I hated the character Reece and was glad she got what was coming to her in the book. One Night with a Hemsworth is the type of romance where love can conquer all and that sometimes you have to put on your big girl panties and love despite the consequences and what anyone else thinks.

Sometimes a one night stand should remain just that. In the light of day, without the haze of alcohol, Paige should have seen that she could do a lot better than Cole.

Doesn't he seem like a catch?
1) He has a drinking problem.
2) He has anger issues, including a domestic violence record.
3) Became a father as a teenager, and has an acrimonious relationship with his ex-wife (who's the mother of his child).
4) Only sees his son two weekends a month and yet sometimes he dumps him on Cole's mom so he can go out with friends.
5) Still lives with a roommate even though he's almost 30.
6) Has a dead end job that he doesn't even like, yet has no ambitions to change that.

On the plus side, he's hot, but that's why he should stay a one night stand. Paige, a law school student with a bright future, thinks this is the best life has to offer? Her bar is set way too low.

Great book! I found this book for free on Amazon this week and decided to give it a try.
I loved it!! Laughed a lot and loved the characters. The only point I had trouble reading was how Paige almost begged for them to be together, of course, there’s a reason for that explained in the book, but, still...

Anyway, the book was a great read, I read it in one day. It was funny, romantic, light and really easy to read. I recommend. :)

CW: alcoholism, domestic abuse (in the past), infidelity, sexual content

I've read almost all of Finley's books by now - apart from this series and Unprincely, which I will be getting to over the next couple days/weeks -, and out of all the ones I've read, this was by far the worst out of all of them.

This story followed a guy named Cole, who, after learning his ex-wife Reece was getting married again, decided to go out to a bar and get hammered. But instead of getting blackout drunk, he instead took a pretty girl named Paige home with him and had a fun night with her. Except that the fun stopped a short while later, when he went to meet Reece's new fiancé and had Paige open the door instead, because surprise! As it turned out, she was Reece's new stepdaughter! And now what?

I disliked this book pretty much from the start, which had a lot to do with the characters, especially the main characters. Both of them were extremely unlikeable, so wanting to root for them was out of the question for me. I wouldn't even be able to tell you who I hated more, because the reasons as to why I hated them weren't quite the same.

First of all, Cole was a domestic abuser. Granted, he wasn't abusive all the time in his marriage with Reece; instead, there had "just" been one incident where he'd lost control. And it wasn't so much him displaying violent and abusive behaviour that was bad as the fact that absolutely no one ever held him accountable for it. Said incident was always just called a "mistake", and all of Cole's friends coddled and babied him, because it had happened three years ago and he'd changed, so surely, Reece should just let him off the hook and not dangle it over his head all the time!

Cole was bad in other aspects, too. He was jealous and possessive to the point where he got unreasonably angry at a guy for merely talking to Paige, which always seems like a red flag to me. Plus, after sleeping with her for the first time, Cole had this inner monologue where he said that if he'd been a bit more drunk, he probably wouldn't have been able to stop having sex with Paige even if she wanted it. Excuse me if a male character admitting he might rape a girl under the influence doesn't make me swoon on the spot.

The way Reece was treated made my reading experience worse. Admittedly, she was a bit of a bitch. She meddled with some of Cole's business that she had no right meddling with, like the people he slept with while Cody - his and Reece's son - was with her. And she did act vindictive a lot of the time. But none of that excused the trauma Cole had inflicted on her, except that's what everyone thought? Everyone in their friend group, especially the men, thought that Reece had no reason to distrust Cole. Every time she so much as threatened to take Cody away from Cole, the others just called her an asshole, and they were all immediately on Cole's side and tried to help him, like Reece didn't sometimes have genuine reasons to not have Cody be around his dad.

Reece was very obviously portrayed as the villain of the story, but that's never how I understood her. Was she unreasonably mean sometimes? Yes. But overall, the way Finley always wanted me to believe she was the sole bad guy in the story and Cole just the poor guy who had to suffer from her actions rubbed me completely the wrong way.

To make matters worse, Paige just added to my rage with her own behaviour. Despite only knowing Cole for a week or two, she immediately believed he was a good guy, even after learning the truth, and thought that she knew he'd never hurt her. You'd think someone with a history of domestic violence wasn't someone you wanted to be around, yet Paige never even thought twice about it. She had not a single moment of, 'Oh shit, maybe this is a red flag I'm seeing! Maybe I should run!' Instead, Paige immediately joined the Reece hate train and felt bad for Cole more often than not. Brain for worms, that one.

I think what bothered me about this inclusion of Cole being a perpetrator of domestic violence and an alcoholic was the fact that none of it was properly discussed. Like I said, I read most of Finley's books, and in some of her later works, she did prove that she was capable of writing in-depth discussions about important topics; so why was it missing here? I know this is one of her earliest, if not the earliest book, so maybe she just hadn't dared to do that yet. But then why include it in the first place? If you can't treat a heavy topic like domestic violence or alcoholism with nuance and care, maybe don't write about it at all.

Apart from Cole and Paige just being genuinely despicable people, I also didn't like them as a couple in the first place? Their love story was extremely instalove-y. They were pretty much in love after one night together, and in my opinion, they never had proper chemistry. Plus, just the way they acted was very infuriating and annoying. Throughout pretty much the entire book, they kept saying they had to stay away from each other and that they couldn't be together, but they never truly made an effort to do just that. Instead, they kept banging each other's doors down, and had sex in places where Reece could've easily walked in on them. What is it with some allosexual people that the desire for sex makes them stupid. The plot was just so drawn out and infuriating.

Speaking of the sex scenes, I started to skip most of them because I felt genuinely disgusted by them. Not because they were overly bad or anything, but I personally don't get much joy out of reading about two characters having sex when I absolutely despise both of them. And let me just tell you, there were a lot of sex scenes. Cole and Paige had sexual attraction first and everything else second.

To be honest, I was also a bit creeped out by the general plot in the first place, because the fact that Paige was going to be Cody's stepsister was not seen as the big issue it potentially could be? I mean, I don't know about you, but if I had the knowledge that my stepsister was dating my dad, I'd probably need some therapy. And sure, the book did talk about the issue, but it wasn't seen as quite as disgusting as it kind of was. Plus, the age gap made me a bit uncomfortable, because Paige just seemed way too young. (Also, why on earth did everyone, including Paige and her own father, refer to her as twenty-one, when she was actually only twenty? An insignificant detail to be weirded out about, but here we are.)

Cody was missing quite a lot in the book, anyways. For someone who was portrayed as this like, really good father who would fight tooth and nail for his son, Cole sure didn't seem to care much about Cody? He constantly chose Paige over him, and Cody said like, five words during the entirety of the novel. I got absolutely no feel for the boy. He could've just as well been a cardboard box sitting in an empty room. I might've liked Cole a bit more if I'd seen him genuinely care about his own child.

The only reason this book got 1.5 stars instead of 1 was solely because of Hunter, Cole's best friend. While he also villainised Reece and her experience, he was for the most part the voice of reason in this book and spoke up when Cole and/or Paige was an asshole. He was definitely my favourite in this book.

Overall, this book was a heavy miss for me. The main characters were unlikeable, consisting of a domestic abuser and a female character who babied and pitied him for his trouble with his traumatised ex-wife, and the plot was just stupid. I hated this book for the entire length of it.

Cole goes out to a bar to drink away his misery; his ex wife just announced her plans to remarry. While he isn't miserable because he still has feelings for her, he is disappointed because some guy that she is marrying will see his son more than Cole does.

When Paige catches his eye, he knows he should walk away from her but the attraction they feel is too strong for him to ignore. Against his better judgement he takes her back to his apartment for what they both agree will be a one night stand. Paige sneaks out the next morning intending to never see Cole again.

Everything changes when Cole knocks on the door of his ex wife's fiance's house and Paige greets him. They are both shocked to learn that Cole's ex wife is marrying Paige's significantly older dad. They quickly agree because of the unusual situation nothing can ever go any further between them.

Unfortunately their attraction to each other says otherwise; neither can stay away and they quickly begin sneaking around. Their one night stand quickly becomes something more even though both Cole and Paige try to end things with each other twice. When Cole's ex announces she is pregnant at his son's first birthday party, both Cole and Paige know they need to end things. Cole cannot date his son's stepsister now they will have a blood relative connecting them.

Although at times I found Cole to be immature (there is supposedly a 6 year age difference), I enjoyed reading this book. I'm very interested in reading the next book in this series although I'm torn on who's story I want to read next: Paige's brother and best friend or Cole's roommate and Paige's best friend....

A great romantic read with lots of comedy and heartache thrown in along with some really hot sex scenes.

One Night with Hemsworth by Eden Finley is the story of Cole Turner and Paige Minor.

Cole's ex-wife is getting remarried and although he does not love her anymore the marriage is bothering him because they have a young son together. Cole is having a hard time knowing that his son will have another 'father'. Cole goes out for a night on his own to have a few drinks but has no intention of picking anyone up. Since he is drinking he was really trying to avoid meeting a girl that night.

Paige is also having a hard time dealing with a past relationship and also with her father remarrying. So she goes out with a girlfriend looking for a one night stand to try and help with the past relationship and to forget about her fathers up and coming marriage.

But Cole and Paige do meet and they both are attracted to one another. Cole tries to talk her out of having him for a one night stand but they play a game and the winner gets their choice of reward.
Needless to say Paige and Cole do have that one night stand. They both try to walk away the next day thinking that is it for them seeing each other again.

That is until Cole comes to dinner to meet his ex-wife future husband... who does he find there but Paige. It appears that their one night stand will be going into another direction.

This is a sweet, sexy love story with some big truths. There are pitfalls for Paige and Cole from the start. But they keep trying for their HEA. These characters are so real and human that I felt myself fall a little in love with Cole, myself. And Paige could have been my best friend. The character development is first rate.
At times in the beginning I just wondered why these two kept finding roadblocks and then would find a way around their own rules. But it became more clear as the story progressed. The plot was interesting and has intrigue, secrets and hot sex. I kept waiting for the main adversary (Cole’s ex) to get hers!! Well, just you wait. That is what I kept telling myself. Even so, I was blindsided by the ending.
The side characters were also interesting and well developed. I would love to see more of Hunter, Sara and Daniel. My only criticism is that I felt like those character’s stories were left untold. I hope the author has plans to write their story, too.
The author also manages to slip in some valuable information about alcoholism and offers a light at the end of the tunnel.
I truly enjoyed this book and found myself thinking about the characters long after the reading was done and wondering what was going on with them. And wishing I knew more. Don’t get me wrong, it was a satisfying ending, I just want more of my two new best friends.
If you want a good story with a sexy, flawed hero and a sexy heroine with a heart of gold then you need to get ONE NIGHT WITH HEMSWORTH by Eden Finley right now and start reading!!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. It is my first book by this author and the writing was really good. Paige and Cole meet one night at a bar and hook up for a one night stand. She is in college and he is 6 years older than her. The next night he arrives at his ex wifes new house for dinner with his son and her new fiancee when Paige opens the front door to let him in. His ex is marrying Paiges father and they had no clue.

They realize that the situation is not good and they need to leave things as a one night stand but they can't stop thinking about each other. Cole's ex holds all the cards where their son is concerned due to their split and he can't risk loosing his son over her finding out about Paige. The continue to see each other and decide to see if there is really anything there between them or not. After 6 weeks they plan to tell everyone about them when his Ex finds out and raises all kinds of cane over it.

Paige will not allow him to loose his son over a relationship with her. She helps him realize his problems and helps him to deal with them so he has a leg to stand on where his son is concerned. They stay apart for 6 weeks when his ex's past comes back to haunt her and her relationship with Pages father comes to an end. They get their HEA and the next book seems to be between Coles best friend Hunter and Paige's best friend Sara who had a history together.

NetGalley Review
****ARC was provided by Xpresso Book Tours via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.****

I really did enjoy the book. I thought the characters were pretty realistic even with the plot of Cole and Paige meeting each other at a bar and then hooking up and the next day Cole goes to have lunch with his ex-wife, Reece, and her new fiance, Paul, and meets up again with Paige who happen's to be Paul's daughter. As expected the villain of the story was bitchy two-faced Reece and possibly her narrow-minded best friend Pip.

Unfortunately, the middle part of the book got a little too boring that I ended up putting it down and picked up a few other books to read in between. The book did pickup at the end. It was a bit sad with Cole's mom, but I did like that Cole was able to spend more time with his son Cody than he did at the beginning of the book.

It looks like the next book is about Hunter and Sara. I'm excited to hear about their story especially since Hunter has been a wonderful friend to Cole through all his issues. Though reading through the book I wasn't sure whether the story would be about Hunter & Sara or Danny & Sara. I will definitely be on the lookout for the next book when it comes out later this year.

I picked this book up on the recommendation of a friend. It isn't something I'd usually read, I like more 'innocent' romances, but I'm glad I did.
While this book contains explicit love scenes between Cole and Paige, there was enough of a story throughout that kept me interested enough to read on. The author provided serious moments and humor throughout that I enjoyed.
I liked the interaction between the two main characters and I think their personality flaws and demons were well handled.
You follow Cole and Paige, who meet as a one-night stand, and follow their journey which is complicated by real life issues; family/friends/drinking/divorce. All believable enough for you to root for them to make it through. (After all, most of us like HEAs.)
The supporting characters were also well-developed: the friends, the evil ex, the protective father, and brother, etc. They padded out the story nicely.
If you aren't worried about language or explicit scenes, I would highly recommend this book.

I liked the characters and enjoyed reading Cole's side of things. I enjoyed Hunter and the way he lives his life. Paige is sweet and strong and helps Cole in ways he can not imagine. The problems that are faced are even more frustrating. Reece I really despised. I did not like her one bit. She was something else..I tell you..I wanted to tell at her! Good read..what is next in this series! Hunter? Sarah? Danny? I guess we will see.

Good

I liked the characters and how their relationships grew. Both Paige and Cole had to face past relationships and problems and grow. It wasn't a fairytale cookie cutter story. I am getting the next book about Hunter!

I read that absolute plot twist of a blurb an just knew I needed to read this next. It completely kicked me out of my MM spree and everything. I really enjoyed Paige and Cole, and there were definitely more FeelingsTM than I was expecting and used to dealing with from this author.

I only intended to read the first book, as none of the others really interested me plot-wise, but I liked Hunter and Sara (albeit to a lesser extent), so I may read the second book. I absolutely will not be reading further than that as I cannot stand Reece or her friends. From the reviews I read of the third book, it manages to somewhat redeem her, but I think she is such a disgustingly vindictive piece of human trash that I do not want her redeemed. I want her to die alone after everyone she loves has abandoned her. I understand why she doesn't like Cole, I could understand if she never wanted to be in the same room as him again. I could understand if she feared him. But she doesn't fear him. She uses her son as a pawn to control him and it's sickening. Furthermore, once you actually learn what Cole did that was so horrifically terrible, it really feels quite underwhelming. I don't want to disparage her experience as a victim of domestic violence, and I understand that the author couldn't write Cole's character so bad that he couldn't be redeemed, but after all the build up and Cole's self-hatred and recrimination, it amounts to some bruises on her arms because he didn't realise he was holding her so tightly, and a hole punched in a wall. Blaming him for her miscarriage was disgusting, but he was a bit of a fool for believing it. Then there was her friend, Pip, who also gets her own book, and who defends a rapist (statutory, but he was old enough to know the law, and the age difference was enough to be uncomfortable) but condemns Cole due to his violence. The hypocrisy is strong.

I've gotta say from a series titled; One Night and a book called One Night with Hemsworth I wasn't necessarily expecting much. But this was a surprising little gem. I really liked Paige and Cole (Hemsworth) and the easy flirty relationship they fall in to.

I'm not sure how I feel about the abuse issue though. I really thought it was going to be totally exaggerated but it ended up both more and less serious than I was expecting. But credit where due he does make a huge effort to turn his life around and addiction is not an easy thing for people to deal with.

I did like that Cole is a bit of a prude. I mean he's slept with a few people but not that many really and he seems pretty respectful and kind and loving even while just hooking up with Paige. He refers to himself as an asshole to those other women but it's kind of hard to picture. But I like that he's full relationship speed ahead and Paige is the one that's sort of like yeah..I dunno. I mean it doesn't really work out and I wouldn't say she's completely honest when she's against it but I liked it.

The plot moves fast and there were lots of parts that had me chuckling to myself. I liked Sara and Paige's tendency to give people nicknames. I probably won't read the rest of the series but I'll definitely have to check out the rest of the author's backlist. 3 stars.

Loving this author!

I originally found this author through her MM book (which is AMAZING, and you should definitely check it out too). This was really great, what hooked me the first time I read Eden was the amazing dialogue, and this must be where it started. Cole and Paige's interactions, texts, etc are just awesome. I love their explosive chemistry.
However being 8yrs sober, I'm not sure how I felt about the way his problems were handled. At times I felt they were too cavalier with such a serious problem, but then other times it was really well handled. I also would have liked to have known Cody a bit more, for him to be pivotal for most of what happens, we don't ever know him. He's more plot motivator than character you can know.
It's a great book though, really well written and completely engaging. It never lets you go, there's no point where I was willing to stop reading, I had to keep going. Can't wait to read the rest of the series. Although after this I may not be able to read Reece's story.

I came across this on Amazon and after reading the blurb, the story piqued my interest and I got myself a copy and am so glad that I did. I was hooked after the first chapter, this story is so well written and the characters are amazing. One Night with Hemsworth is a great read and I couldn't put it down. What starts of as a one night stand for both Paige and Cole turns into marriage material with a lot of twists in the process of reaching that point. I wasn't sure if there was going to be a HEA at the end of this, but it came together perfectly. It did leave me with a lot of questions about some of the other characters in this book, Hunter and Reece.

A Night with Hemsworth deals with some realistic subjects and are written respectfully for the main character which for me made him stand out more. A Night with Hemsworth has been a brilliant read for me and I have found another new series to read.

I highly recommend this one, it's sexy, has moment filled with humor and is totally worth the read. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Law student meets alcoholic...

Really liked this book. I loved the storyline. I loved Cole and Paige.

I wasn’t sure they were going to end up together with the way the storyline went. I knew there was something else Cole wasn’t telling. But I found it absolutely perfect the way she researched all avenues of his past to make a better future. That warmed my heart.

Coming from an abusive childhood, I felt for Cole. I was so proud that Cole made a decision and stuck with it to make a positive impact instead of negative.

I was also routing for them the whole time. I so so hoped they could work things out considering all their obstacles.

Great story. Well written. Would recommend.

Quotes and/or moments from the book:

You’re it for me. I’ve never met anyone who remained in my corner, even when I’d majorly screwed up. No one, apart from maybe Hunter, has stood by me when I needed them the most. Even though we couldn’t be together, you still supported me. You fought for me when I wasn’t willing to fight for myself. You’re the one I want to come home to, the one I want to wake up next to. The one I hope to marry ...”

Cole and Paige meeting at a bar and having sex with each other not to realized that they are closer to each other. Paige is Cole ex-wife's stepdaughter but not only that Cole has a son name Cody. Cole ex-wife uses Cody as leverage to take Cody away from Cole. Cole has a bad drinking habit and every time he gets drunk he is abusive. Cole and Paige really try to make things work between them considering their circumstances but Cole's ex-wife end up finding out that Paige has been sleeping with Cole making things even more difficult between the two of them. Now Cole has to get his shit together for things to work out between him and Paige and his ex-wife is getting married but things take an unexpected turn of event. Cole's ex-wife ends up getting pregnant and the baby's father is not Paige father it's Cole's friend.

I wish we had seen Cole more as a dad. It felt like we were told that he was a dad but I never saw it and often forgot that.
They were a cute couple but it just wasn't enough. The tensions should have been built more and the gravity of what is at stake (Paige's relationship with her father and Cole's relationship with his son) was never emphasised enough and the characters didn't seem to care enough.
I wish the abuse thing with Cole and his ex-wife was discussed more maturely and in-depth. I also wish we saw Cole's attempt at getting help in more detail.
The couple was really cute and i loved that complicated aspect of this book but i just wished it had maybe been more discussed and maybe more dramatic. I mean it ended pretty perfectly.
On the other hand, I love Cole and Paige and i felt like their relationship was pretty cute and good to read about.

Big fan of Eden, but I’d never read her first series and I have to say, it’s worth it! I wasn’t sure at first considering all of the angst these characters have and omg Reece, I hated her so much so of course Eden makes me feel bad for her and grow to like her character (how rude), but my favourite by far was Gage and Pip from the amazing of Odie (other dad) to the horrible town Gage grew up in, it was such a great book to wrap up this fun series!

Reasons I Recommend:

1) Amazing group of friends, each with their own intermingling back story

2) The strong friendships between them and the hilariously cheesy dad jokes and

3) We get to see the beginning of the author’s love for the mm romance and it’s perfect!

This is a book filled with angst and drama. I take a half point from the rating due to the characters. Cole's ex wife is manipulating his life. She is vindictive and hateful to him. I understand her feelings but her actions are shady. He lets her manipulate him out of guilt. I didn't like how he just gave up without looking for options legally and personally. These two were married and had a child together. Paige is 7 yrs younger than they were but was more mature at times. They were in a stane situation which they continued to make a mess of. what I did like about the book was the fun dialogue and text messages between Paige and Cole. Also I liked the way Hunter and Cole interacted. Overall it was a good story.

Paige just wants one night with a hot man to escape her life. Then she finds out how their lives are mixed up somehow and regrets it all. If love is complicated why even try?

Cole has his life turning upside down. His ex is getting married. He wants to get along and still be able to see his son. Will that still be the case when his one night stand answers the door?

This was a great start for the One Night series. Lots of heat set up to high. The banter makes it so much more sexy, and the characters we get introduced to are soon getting books of their own. I liked that the story was pretty original and went at a good pace.

After a memorable one-night-stand with Paige leaves Cole wanting more, he is shocked to find her again in the home of his ex-wife Reece's new fiance - because she turns out to be the daughter of the much older man Reece is planning to marry. The two have to navigate a minefield in exploring their new relationship because Cole is afraid if Reece finds out, she will deny him access to their 8-year-old son.

This was an interesting premise, and Finley weaves an intricate tapestry with the five books of this series, teasing the reader with glimpses of the other books' characters and storylines that all link in this group of friends. One can even read the books out of order, without spoiling any of the stories. A solid 3 stars.
